I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings It had already passed a good amount of time since he had joined Yuuei, but Igarashi Ryuusei still didn't fully believe that he had made the right choice in applying to the first ever Hero School and, by consequence, in commiting himself to a life of a hero and all that such life implied. However, he still went to the school ground every single day, making himself attend every single class - even if, by occasion, he chose to leave some of the Physical Education classes early... something that would probably get him called to the principal's office someday. He would've probably left already if it weren't for Rin and Yoruhi. Oh, and also the fact that, somehow, someway, he had gotten voted for Class 1-A's Vice President.
The contradicting feelings that he felt towards Yuuei and his place in it made it that, contrary to probably every single student there, he hadn't spent a single second training outside the obligatory classes. However, a slight shift could be happening. It was the end of the day and all of the classes had already finished. When everyone was heading home, Ryuusei stood near the training facilities with his U.A. training suit on.
Welll... Who would've thought this was ever going to happen?
If Your was there he would probably be laughing at the sight of Ryuusei wearing such outfit by his own will. Rin would probably let out a small smile and encourage him to go ahead and train. Ryuu himself just felt unconfortable. What was he trying to prove? He would never reach the physical prowess of his father, agility and reflexes of his mother and the strenght of his sister. He accepted his role as the weakest of the family, so why the sudden necessity of change? What had made him want to improve himself and stand there, at that time, ready to go train? Hell, he didn't even know what to do once inside the gym.
Standing still a few steps in front of the gym door he pondered on what to do. He was hesitant. Was that really the option that signified Ryuu staying true to himself? Or was that change need for him to really be himself?
Little did he know that someone was about to talk to him... or the words that that someone had to say.

Nick was frustrated. Frustrated and restless. His body felt as though it had been set on fire from the inside. When he had tried to go for a nap in his room, he had found himself tossing and turning to no avail. His failures still ate away at his mind until they were his only thoughts left and made sleep a stranger.
Thus, he had decided the only way to get rid of the building tension within him was to take it out over at the gym. He approached the gym in his Yuuei tracksuit, his mind already busily trying to work out what he would do once in there. First he would start with climbing a rope, then maybe he would go onto the weights…
His steps slowed as he realised he was not the only one to have the idea to go to the gym after-hours. Another student stood in front of its doors, one he realised he recognised from his own class – Ryuusei Igarashi.
They had not interacted much that Nick could remember. Ryuusei reminded Nick much of Rin: quiet and seemingly weak. Except Rin had proven to Nick that she was not so weak with her continued besting of him. Ryuusei had yet to prove anything in Nick’s eyes.
Though, in a similar vein to Rin, he had been voted the class’s president over Nick. That rustled Nick’s jimmies and then some. He swore there must have been something in the water the day his class voted.
He drew closer to Ryuusei, his eyes narrowed and a scowl fixed to his face.
“Hey,” he said with all the warmth of a glacier. “If you’re not going to go in there, you better get out of my way.”

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings Eh? he emitted the cold sound as he sensed someone standing too close behind him.
Looking back, over his own shoulder, Ryuu saw the face of Nick, a fellow Class 1-A student. The look on Ryuu's eyes was of uninterest but, at the same time, a little bit of anger. At least on that end they were equal.
Nick Cross stood at around the same height as Ryuusei Igarashi, but was clearly in a much better physical shape: heavier, more toned-out and well defined muscles. With both of the teens having the same clothes that became even more obvious.
However, that Nick kid... From what Ryuu had already seen and heard of him he was the exact kind of dude that Ryuusei hated the most. He always seemed to be pissed or with a bad attitude from what Ryuu saw from practical classes and even some regular ones. But that wasn't even Ryuu's real problem. If it was just attitude, the youngest of the Igarashi household could live well - afterall, he himself wasn't particularly the most friendly of guys. Hell, they were at Yuuei for some time now and he really only talked with Rin and Yoru. The main problem... The main problem was what Rin had told him.
I was the first time that Ryuu was alone with Nick. And it was the first time they were together since Ryuu learned that he was the one responsible for Rin's hospitalization. There were very few things that made the cold, expressionless face of the bright-eyed kid show any kind of emotion: this was one of them.
Of course, I don't want you to miss your training. Afterall, you need to get strong in order to punch more girls in the face, he said in his distant tone. But, in that distant voice, anger could totally be felt.
Despite agreeing to move, Ryuusei kept in front of Nick. Standing still, Ryuu had his right hand on the trousers right pocket that, like the left one, was rippedon the inside and he was using his left hand to scratch his own neck.
Tension was building up.

Nick had given a request. He did not like it when his requests were ignored. Particularly when the person he had given the request agreed to follow it, but then did not.
If the tension between the two could have been represented by sound, it would have been that of a power metal band blasting out a ten minute long guitar solo backed by a full orchestra. It only grew more intense when the other boy had the nerve to throw a sarcastic comment back at him.
Nick balled his fists. He narrowed his eyes. The growth on his back began to itch, but he managed to hold his Quirk in for the time being.
“I assume you’re speaking of Rin,” he said in a tone darker than the abyss.
Of course he bloody well was. Nick could not escape Rin. Not even when he was by himself. Thoughts of her haunted his mind more and more every day; sometimes her face would just randomly flash into it whenever he let it go into neutral. He found himself watching her in class even without consciously intending to.
He was aware that their scuffle towards the end of the bomb diffusion exercise had stirred up some of the other students. Evidently Ryuusei was one. Why these other students reacted the way they had was beyond Nick.
“It was a combat exercise,” he said, airily raising and lowering one shoulder. “What a shock that people can be hurt in such things. You think a real combat situation will be any kinder to her? Please, spare me.”
Besides, her team had still won. She had bested him yet again. She truly was stronger than he had first believed her to be, with the way she continued to beat him and had managed to get back up from his final blow. How Ryuusei was treating her actually bothered something inside Nick.
“You’re the one doing her a disservice here,” Nick finished. “You’re treating her like she’s weak.”
He walked right up to Ryuusei so that he was practically standing on top of him. He leaned in close to his ear; “I believe I asked you to move.”

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings It felt just like the videogames Ryuusei always played, the ones he dedicated himself throught almost his entire life. Play one type of game long enough - aiming for that 100% completion rate in all of them - and the options become clear as water. In Ryuu's save file Nick Cross was a NPC that the brown-haired boy had seen often and, because of this, his dialogue options were ones that he had dealt with many times.
However, here, it was different. On his previous school, constantly getting mocked and, essentialy, bullied, Ryuusei would mostly put up with it, ignore it and just avoid getting in trouble. But this interaction with Nick... he just couldn't do it, not this time. Ryuu didn't have friends before, but now he had. One of those friends was Rin. And with the feelings that he was starting to get about the girl... No, he couldn't just walk off. It was time to face the NPC head on. Otherwise, Ryuu would never achieve that 100%.
He allowed Nick to talk, not responding at all. While he was busy talking, Ryuu just looked at him, raising - at a time - each leg in order to bring his feet at around knee height, enabling him to stick the untied shoelaces inside of each shoe. After taking his time listening and doing mundane stuff, Ryuu almost responded when Nick brought the fact that Ryuu was treating Rin like she was weak, but he didn't. What Nick Cross thought didn't matter one bit, he was just an extra. Ryuu knew that Rinkusu was strong and that she didn't need any kind of protection, but this wasn't about that. It was about friendship. You defend the ones you like, even if they are stronger than you. Ryuu didn't knew much about friendships, but he thought that was about right... besides, he never really liked Nick that much.
When the other boy leaned in and basically whispered into his ear, Ryuusei didn't flinch. He just responded... a response said as cold as ice, a response that completly ignored Nick's wishes.
I can get that much out of you with just one sentence? You really are a completly open book, Nick.
After finishing his sentence, Ryuu took two small steps backwards. Now at what was basically a full-arm lenght from Nick, Ryuu casually stood with his right leg a little ahead of his left one.
I was supposed to get out of your way now, wasn't I?, he asked, still in Nick's direct path into the gym.

Nick’s urge to slap this impudent fool skyrocketed with each passing second. The growth on his back that controlled his transformation itched, demanding him to let out his true form.
He forced himself to take calming breaths, however, which he hoped Ryuusei did not pick up on. Why was he letting someone so insignificant get so many words out of him? Perhaps if he had not brought up Rin…
Nick quickly dismissed such a notion.
“I don’t know why I’m wasting my time with you,” he said with as much of an uncaring tone as he could manage. “You’re not worth it.”
He made a move to walk around Ryuusei and into the gym. Once inside, he found their little heart-to-heart had caused him to forget what he had planned to do in the gym, much to his frustration. With a low growl, he headed over to the climbing wall area.
He resisted the urge to glance over his shoulder to see if Ryuusei was actually going to come in or not. Why did he care? If the other teen wanted to fight then he should just damned well say so. At least the gym had a miniature arena for them to spar in…

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings It looked like Nick Croos wasn't a completely open book. There were for certain pages that Ryuusei had read a thousand times, but it appeared that some others remained hidden.
After responding to Ryuu with just a few words, the boy decided the best course of action to be walk around the Class 1-A Vice-President, going straight into the gym and avoid any kind of direct physical fight by doing so. Any other day that would be something positive for Ryuu, but at that moment all he could feel was... disappointment.
Placing both hands inside his pockets, he kept his body in the same position, back facing the gym entrace.
Ahhh, I thought I had him fully read, he thought.
As soon as he finished his thought, Ryuusei held his breath and, at that exact moment, he disappeared entirely. During his conversation with Nick, while teasing him on purpose, each of Ryuu movemnts had been calculated in order to activate his Quirk. The hand in the pocket he had ripped inside in the rescue operations class in order to touch his underwear; the hand on the neck to touch his skin; the hands on his feet to touch his shoes. Even him backing down and having his right leg a little further than his left one was something he did in antecipation of a right-handed punch: in such position, he had the best chance of avoiding the punch by shifting his own weight to the side while turning invisible, setting his counter-attack in this matter.
He quickly exhaled and turned back into being visible and started to walk away from the gym. There was no way that he was going to spar with Nick - that way, he was setting himself up to be absolutely wrecked. He knew where he strenght lied and that impromptu meeting was he chance to try it out... "it" being his brain. Because of that, he could only think of one thing while he walked away:
I wonder if that would've worked...
