I wake up to the sound of my alarm early in the morning. 5 AM, to be precise. Feeling nice and refreshed from my eight hours of sleep, I stretch for a bit before getting to my usual daily routine. Pushups, sit-ups, and plenty of juice. Orange juice to go with my eggs, sausages, and toast. I'm not the fanciest of cooks, but I do decently enough. After getting dressed in a white tank top and tan shorts, I do what I always like doing every morning. Going out for a jog around the block. Looking out the window and seeing the sky, today looks like it will be promising.
Or at least, it did.
There's no UA related work I need to do right now, so I pretty much have time to myself. Of course, I always have a police radio on me in case any law enforcement needs my assistance. Not that I expect many villains to show up at these early hours, but you never know. As I jog, I notice the streets are mostly empty. Makes sense, as not everyone is an early riser like me. There was one other person around, also jogging. I smile as I notice them wave at me. It's good to get recognition for the hard work I do in keeping people safe. Not that I care about fame, though I would bet some would be surprised to hear that coming from me of all people. It's just a job, one I take pride in, but nothing worth bragging about.
After about half an hour or so, I decide to get back home. After working up a bit of a sweat, I like to take a shower. Plus, I want to get ready for later. My mamá and papá are coming back from Spain, and I want the home to look in pristine condition when they arrive later today. Though I will say that I never leave the house messy. If any mess does get made, it's Centaurion's fault.
HEY, CENTAURION GETS BORED! NOT CENTAURION'S FAULT THE PLACE IS TOO FRAGILE TO HANDLE CENTAURION'S SHEER STRENGTH!
Yes, but you could at least try to be gentle when I ask you to. There's a reason I'm wary of letting you out in the house. Unlike you, I actually enjoy having furniture that isn't shattered into pieces.
BUT CENTAURION NEEDS EXERCISE! IT'S BORING TO ALWAYS HAVE TO STAY IN YOUR MIND ALL DAY!
I get what you mean, but it's sadly the way we have to do things. Anyway, please don't interrupt me, amigo. I need to finish telling this story.
BAH, WHATEVER.
Right. Anyway, I finish my shower, dry myself off, and put on my black jeans and white t-shirt. It's still early, just a bit after 6 AM. I decide to sit down on the comfy couch and relax as I watch TV. Naturally, I would prefer to watch a romance drama, but nothing good is on. So I switch over to the news. Who knows, maybe something noteworthy would be on.
There was no way that I could ever have expected what came next.
6:15 AM. The whole place begins to shake intensely. Now I'm no stranger to quakes. This is Japan, after all, and despite having spent about half my life in Spain, I am naturally born Japanese. I've had my fair share of them. But still, an earthquake this powerful and this sudden. I would highly doubt that anyone would have been prepared for this. I immediately swear aloud, yelling out every single Spanish swear word I know. Yes, this is very embarrassing on my part. Yes, this kind of behavior is not one expected of a pro-hero. But at the end of the day, am I not still human? Fear is a natural part of all of us.
I will say, however, that I am fortunate to live here alone, so there was nobody around to make fun of me for my reaction.
Oh, except Centaurion, naturally.
THAT WAS HILARIOUS! YOU WERE SHOUTING LIKE A SCARED LITTLE GIRL!
I was not! I did not scream, merely yell out in shock. And even if I did, I would have been screaming like a startled MAN, thank you very much. And you were screaming too, Centaurion. You have no room to talk! Remember, you can't lie to me. You were frightened by the earthquake, weren't you?
...CENTAURION ADMITS NOTHING.
Anyway, first was the panic and fear. But the earthquake only lasted fifteen seconds or so. I quickly regained my composure. I was fortunate that the shake was not major enough to completely shake the house down. Still, I had lost all power, and I'm pretty sure everyone else in the area did too. But what had upset me the most was all the pictures hanging on the wall had tumbled down. Now the frames are all broken! And these were such good pictures, too! Pics of me, pics of my family, pics of Centaurion and I, pics of some friends and I. But yes, the whole place is a mess now. And after spending the day yesterday making sure it was all clean and neat.
Oh well, I'm not terribly busy today. Sure I have to clean the place all over again, and deal with the lack of electricity for a bit, but that's fine. At least the trouble is over, right?
"All available units, please respond! An empty shop with a message on the wall written in blood. Believed to be the work of the villain Crowley."
...You have got to be kidding me.
Crowley!? NOW of all times?!
¡Coño!
Well, a hero's job is never over. Criminals are so despicable! To think that they would cause trouble now of all times. But no matter. I have a job to do!
NO, WE! WE HAVE A JOB TO DO!
That's right, amigo. We're a team, you and I, now and forever. If that Crowley thinks he can terrorize the people and get away with it, then he's got another thing coming! An earthquake isn't enough to take us down, and neither is that scoundrel!
YEAH! WITH CENTAURION'S FISTS, THAT PIECE OF GARBAGE WILL CRUMBLE. I'LL SMASH HIM HARDER THAN ANY EARTHQUAKE!!!
...Let's just make sure he's intact. He can't serve his sentence in prison if he's in more pieces than that poor vase.
Well, time to head out and see if Crowley hasn't slipped away yet.
