Yumi had been looking for a way to get some more fun going for herself at home lately. Her studies were easing up a bit here and there. She’d found a better schedule to manage her hobby and part time work on and… generally the flow of the third year seemed to be focused a lot more on practical application of what they’d learned so essay homework wasn’t as common. May change as the year went on but for now she felt like she could breathe. With Feng around to help out with some of her and Red’s chores too, Yumi felt like she could finally enjoy some of her hobbies again…
If they hadn’t felt… kinda stale.
She didn’t know what it was really. Watching anime still had it’s charms but nothing good was on this season and… while she still enjoyed making and wearing her cosplays, it wasn’t the relaxing hobby it once was. It still had it’s charms by all means but when you start doing something for a form of work, the ease of flow it used to have where you could just, dip into it, do what you like, relax… it was sort of gone. Anytime Yumi tried to spend spare time on it she’d just end up working on the cosplay for her next blog request or something. More busy work than pleasure.
Eventually, an idle comment picked up by Red (cause apparently that boy lived to make her every whim a reality) lead to them potentially considering a hot tub for the house. Red’s gut instinct was to dig and build the heater system for one himself but… a permanent fixture like that, constantly needing cleaning… and on a rented property? Yeah. Wasn’t happening.
She wasn’t letting him buy the house either. The over-paid mad-man.
Eventually they settled on an inflateable thing they could store away when the weather wasn’t calling for it. Easy enough really, they had room enough for like, a deflated rolled up pool and a heater to go somewhere. Yumi also insisted they go halvsies since she’d probably be using it more anyway and she didn’t like the idea of him paying for anything and everything he needed. Sure he didn’t seem to NEED the money but she didn’t like being a drain on his coffers when she had her own job either…
also maybe made her feel a little inferior that her business made ridiculously less money than him doing odd jobs but that’s neither here nor there
Regardless, a few chit chatty messages back and forth with the frat and a couple other students, and after a day of enjoying the thing on her own Yumi picked a nice day to basically arrange a garden party. Open invitation, mostly aimed at the frat but it extended to… well primarily third years but whoever else could really come too. Red had set up a ladder over the back wall of the garden that zapped you unless you presented a student ID to a card scanner (they’d made sure the warning sign for that was extra clear) so they didn’t have a bunch of people just traipsing through their house to get to the back garden. The alleyway between their house and the frat was easy enough to find anyway.
Dressed in cargo shorts and a casual bikini top Yumi was working on getting things set up, making sure there was a barbecue set up if anyone felt like being ‘the cook’ for the place, a bunch of plastic cups, a few fold out tables. The hot tub itself was pretty warm but she didn’t have the bubbles on or anything until people actually started getting here. She’d also asked if anyone planned on coming to maybe bring extra drinks or ice or heck even snacks and food just so that Yumi’s own supplies didn’t run out too quickly. “Reeeed?” She’d call out back into the kitchen. “You did test that ladder thing with more than just you, me, and Feng’s IDs right? Like we’re not gonna suddenly hear Angelica or someone cursing your name to the seven hells while we’re having fun are we?” She’d ask, just… a little cautious of his ‘accidents’ at the moment. It was her first time really trying to be a fun ‘host’ in some time afterall and she kinda would like to see if them and the frat could have a fun little back and forth with these sorts of gatherings. And everyone else of course…
