The Official (Hana)

While G got out of bed, Hana turned around another time and just let him be and just did not get up yet. She would get when she heard Kai and decided to carry her little beauty downstairs in a bit. She first got her kimono on, which was not really a Japanese kimono, it was more like a bathrobe and it reached just above her knee and was a silky fabric and she lifted up Kai after changing his diaper and would just make sure he would get something for breakfast as they were changing to solid foods, she would have to get out of bed. "Gil?" She called out as she had been a little too fast as she looked in their kitchen but she did not see him, stuck at the kitchen island instead of at their small table, her table. The one she had brought from her house and she finally noticed when she had walked around the house that he was in the kitchen. She put their son on the kitchen island and held his knee while getting a bit of fruit, she took a mandarin orange. She would give Kai an eskimo kiss while she was peeling the little mandarin.

She should get her own breakfast but in the morning Hana was always a bit too busy with her one job and that was taking care of Kai and making sure that he was okay. "What's wrong honey?" She said as she looked at G's long face, she did not recognize him like that, or maybe he was just tired and she was wondering about that and maybe she saw things that were not there. She held out a piece of the mandarin orange and watched Kai take it and squeeze it a little too harshly before putting it in his mouth.

"Don't squeeze it you silly." She said to her little son and muttered some more words and she looked up and nodded, "I would rather stay in bed a little longer, but you can't have all." She sighed a little before cleaning Kai's face and watching G as he called her out again. She looked up to him and tilted her head a little and thought about it, she was a little surprised by the question. "That might be but you are my man, the man I know for ages and that is Gilbert." There was an obvious accent still in her English, "My Gil as I called you when I was younger and I will always do so. You are not Gabe to me. That's also not how I met you. I did not start dating Gabe, that happened when we were already dating." But she remembered that she had wanted to say his name and he shushed her.

But that did not mean that the nickname she had given him as a child, when she hated the name, would be now dropped simply and only because he was killed on paper and would need another name. "You will be Gabe on paper but you will be always Gil to me. You said that name when we got married, that's my husband." She looked at Kai who looked at his father and she smiled, she wouldn't know how it worked, she did not like how he kept introducing himself with other names in the gym but this wasn't about that and she did not want to say anything about it right now. Not bring up bad things, but she hoped that it would be okay to keep his name, just G... just Gabe for the outside world. "You hate that name?" She decided to ask because he did not even say it out loud.

She blushed a little, "I don't want to say I hate it but it's just not you." She nodded, and she frowned a little when he yawned, she wasn't sure what to think of it and she gave another piece of the fruit to Kai and looked shortly at her son. "I tried to but I simply can't so yea, rather not." She wasn't very convinced about it anyway but she nodded still, so he wanted to change it. "You have any ideas into what?" She asked and shook her head mildly when she was asked what she would change it to. "I don't know, baby, for me you would always be Gilbert to me." but she wasn't sure if that was safe. "The thing is that Gilbert doesn't look like Gabe and the name is dead on paper. I don't know, would it be dangerous to take the name back?"

Maybe she shouldn't be that selfish though but she wanted her to be the only one that called him Gil? Really she knew it, she felt it and she bit her lip and looked from Kai to G again as he called her out again. "Oh ehm did you try a coffee or using cold water in your face?" She was tired too, it would be nice to snuggle back into bed, honestly. "Did you not sleep well tonight?" She said a little worried. She was aware he had insomnia so she would wonder now if the nightmares were back? She had not really asked before because he had told her before and she had not noticed much more anymore after being home and definitely not in Hawaii. She wasn't sure if she should kick herself mentally because she should have asked and worried. "So ehm, want to go back to bed?"

She blushed a little more and heaved her head to not show her own awkwardness or even embarrassed attitude. "I like Gabriel. I could deal with that, I think for our law system that might also be easier, I do love your own name but even if the name is dead on paper, I am so afraid they would link it to you." She had looked away, ultimately too embarrassed to admit it. "You will always be Gil to me, but it's selfish, I just want to be the only one calling you that." It was stupid and Hanako knew that but still she would let him decided and again wiped Kai's mouth from little picks of mandarin orange. "Ultimately it's your decision, though I am glad you share it with me."

The conversation turned to something else and he did not answer her question if he had slept well or not but he seemed to be excited about the prospect of going back to bed. She felt a little sorry for him as he yawned again. She smiled at him and shook her head at the puppy eyes he made. "Oh you want me to come too? Hmm let me think about it." There was a smug expression on her face and she just made sure Kai finished his fruit, washed his little hands before heaving him back on her arm so she would hold him and shook her head again. "Okay, we will come, only if you tell us if you slept well or not."

Was it just lack of sleep or just something else? What was it? She wanted to know, her head already was making up the worst-case scenarios that were not necessary. She just wanted him to say it even though she would just follow him back upstairs.

"I know and that's sweet but again it's your decision if you rather have Gilbert, than I won't stop you." She said and she looked up and managed to clean up Kai while they finished talk and she would just see what he would say. She had to be honest because well it was unfair to try and push him away from his normal name because she wanted it just for herself. "But listen very closely, Gabriel, for me you will remain Gil." But by saying his potential new name, she hoped she showed that she was okay with the name.

She nodded when he yawned again and she wanted to make sure he was okay and she nodded, "You got up early too yesterday so it made sense that such a time is late." Before his hiatus, she was sure he went to bed even later but it was his role now to be home earlier and go to bed earlier. "I will call the office that they can open and that we will be a bit later." Which was okay as last Saturday they had come early instead of taking their day off as they normally did. She would just see and she would follow him back upstairs with their son on her arm and she would put him on their bed and lay on her side next to him and held her hand on his stomach. She had thought about it, "We can go before we go to the gym, this afternoon."

She nodded, "I think Gabriel is the safest bet." She said eventually because she was already scared enough about him being busted as a vigilante. She still wasn't convinced he did enough about it to protect himself. She took a deep breath, but nodded when he stated he did not want the name given to him now. She kept on nodding while thinking, "I suggest to take Gabriel, Haruuhi has given you the name, she saw it fit, I think it might hurt her if you pick something completely different. We can say it is your official first name, that you were always called that, law enforcement might agree with that easier." She wasn't sure she would have to look that up in a bit but she would have to tell him that Gil will always be for her.

"When you go back to sleep?" Hanako asked with a little laugh as G just said that he wanted her beside him when he did something. She must have missed what he meant in her focus on the little baby. She thought first that he meant his name but that had been a conversation in the kitchen and she got up, leaned over Kai and kissed G. "But good, cuz I want to be beside you." She tickled little Kai and she loved, she would always love, that he was always laughing and happy and a little spoiled. That was okay, after the incident, that simply was okay.

Eventually, she let G rest while she tickled Kai from time to time but eventually she would just go read on her phone while holding on to her baby as the guys in the room snoozed or rested. She did not want to bother either of them. A few hours later, they would have lunch and Hanako suggested to first drive to the municipal office and ask there. She would instruct Gil exactly on what to say that he came from Hawaii and that the registration had been just been the name he has been called but that he would like his official name to be the first name on his paper, Gabriel, it shouldn't be too big a deal but Hanako knew issues might come because it was his first name and of course, they wouldn't be able to find much information about him in general nor would they if they even called, find a Gabe Hajimari in Hawaii. But he had a license, he had everything, so it would be fine and they would never know. It made her very nervous for sure but she had every intention on fixing it right.

However, it felt like waking a sleeping bear without the need to do so. Hanako would just make sure to stand by his side with their little son, they would look like a perfect little family for sure, no one would deny that right? She hoped that there would be an old traditional Japanese person behind the desk that G would get, they would not pry too much, that was absolutely against what Japan stood for. She hoped it was people like that, that still worked at the municipal office and thus they would be able to go through the procedure by just paying and nothing more would happen.
