Coughing and looking was all Feng could do in the midst of the raging inferno. She can feel her breath getting shorter and short the more she fought. A part of her wonders why she continue to fight despite the horrors she had witnessed. Maybe a part of her wanted to believe that no one can be that crazy and he can be helped. ‘Come on...come on...where are you? ' she thought to herself as she felt the heat on her face. She can't afford to keep playing games against a villain as the more she stays here the more she is at risk of dying in the flames. The building was already falling apart and she has no actual clue if emergency services have arrived. Communications can be done due to the heat and she is about ready to call it and get out.
But then she heard his voice and she looked at him. His voice still held a smug tone as he taunted while the flames raged on. Her expression stayed resolute as she got ready to jump into the flames and get him out of there.
But her movements stopped for a moment as she had serious thoughts of leaving him in the flames. It wasnt hero like in the slightest but if this person is as demented as she thinks him to be in another part of her mind, she can spare the world one more lunatic. More lives can be saved if she simply chooses to ignore his plea for help. A dozen villains usually get away in the court if the system sees them as redeemable. One more life wouldn't be much and the fire raging around her would erase her little action. It’d be so much easier to ignore and just let him burn, maybe his quirk can spare him the damage and she can get him back later. It was a moral dilemma she never expected to come across in her year. LIfe and death was in her hands and the gravity of her occupation began to weigh on her as she looked at him for a moment. Time began to slow down as she needed to make a decision now or risk causing a death.
But then thoughts of her family and how she was raised in her early life began to pop up. How she was raised to do what's right and the struggles she had to go through while here. If she lets him die, then all of it would have been for nothing and she can't live with that fact. Her eyes shined brighter as time began to return to normal for her as she took a stance.
“That's right, I am a hero….but that doesnt mean I have to get you out of here unscathed”, she replied to him as she flew at full speed at his location and pushed him through another layer of burning wood of the building. The buildings were falling apart and the wood shattered so easily as she went through another floor of the building. Sounds of debris falling was all she can hear as she was so focused on taking this villain out. The heat is unbearable as she stood in the flames but she kept her wits about her as she kicked him to a wall as her momentum began to slow from her initial jump. She can't tell if it was a stone wall or a wooden one but her mind only thought of the fight and she took a stance.
“Show me what you got, Niso. Because this girl has more tricks up her sleeve.”, she said as he eyes began to shine as her ash covered face showed a woman who was ready to fight till the very end.

The seconds that Feng was taking to make her decision as Niso reached out his hand felt much longer than they actually were, his heart pounding a little harder in his chest as a mildly panicked series of breaths began to flow through him as he tried to reach out a little further. His instinct to try and grasp for something running through his cells, the flesh of his hand starting to pulsate and stretch as if it was trying to reach out and grab at something separate from the rest of his hand. Of course, Feng eventually decided to make the ‘right’ move… but in a manner that made Niso smile wide once again.
Pain filled his body over and over today but this time it felt the most satisfying. Both saved from death, and forcing the cracks to appear in this wannabe hero’s façade. Niso was left chuckling as he crashed into the next floor below, tumbling with Feng briefly before falling flat on his front, chuckling so hard he was struggling to get up for a second.
“God… the chance to play hero offered to you on a golden platter… and you choose to fight! I wonder what that says about you…~” He shot her an eerie look, eyes locking onto hers even amongst the flames, like all he could see was the soul behind her pupils. He rose up to his feet as his muscles began to drag him upwards against the weight of his own frame, something clearly dislocated from the impact before being wrenched back into place with a catastrophic crunching sound that blended into the crackling of the fire around them, another sickening chuckle flowing from him. “What’s the end game here kid… your trapped with me in a fire… every second you waste, the chance of you dying with me goes up… so come on ‘hero’… what was the plan when you destroyed ANOTHER floor of this place…?~”

Every breath that Feng took burned, despite the mask she wore it was obvious that she was getting tired after repeated use of her quirk and the environment. The place was falling apart around her as the sounds of debris falling to the floor became more and more frequent. Fires burned and the smoke went through the opening she made when she crashed in. It was perhaps the most dangerous situation she was in next to the attack on her life in the previous year. But rational thought had left her as she was determined to prove herself as a hero in this situation.’ I can take him down and bring him in!’, ‘ He’s a villain, I need to take him down now’, ‘If I bring him in, I can prove myself a hero in the eyes of my peers’ and other various thoughts filled her head as she looked on.
The look in her eyes was clear as she looked at Niso with a look of determination and excitement. It was clear that she was pushing on by a rush of adrenaline as she kept her stance rigid. Her body was covered in minor injuries and her hero outfit was slightly damaged but her mind was fixated on taking down the villain in front of her to care. Despite the horrifying crunching of how her opponent literally pulled himself back together, she stayed vigilant as she shrugged off her fears due to an overwhelming sense of misplaced justice.
“My plan is to take you down and bring you in...I made the conclusion that if I leave you here to die...it wouldn't bring the people you killed back. But that doesnt mean I need to bring you back unscathed… I plan to beat the ever living shit out of you as you guessed but that's what I’m trained in.”, she responded calmly amidst the flames. “So lets FUCKING GO, YOU RAG DOLL!”, she exclaimed as she activated her quirk once again as she went to rush down Niso. His movements were trained but once she started to catch somes semblance of a rhythm, it made it easy for her to land hits when she needed to. He was more trained in close combat as the previous exchanges proved true but his fighting style made him too overly reliant on his quirk. He took too many hits in the previous exchanges and often relies on counters and tricks. So rushing him down is the best course of action as she aimed to disable his movements.
Her eyes scanned his body quickly as she aimed strikes aimed at his joints in his legs and arms. Occasionally aiming for the solar plexus to drain him of his strength. She doesn't know his quirk but she knows about the regeneration. Itw as horrifying but she pushed on as she knows it has to have some kind ofm limit to it. Palm strikes, jabs, right hooks, uppercuts, various kicks, every single trick was used so she can disable his movements. She could be getting carried away but it was better to be safe than sorry at this point. She knows he can heal from it but how much can he take before he goes down. Kicking him out the window would create rumors and assumptions about herself and her mentor. She needs to be clean and through about this as much as she can be. Words of her mother echo as she continues her rush, countering and making sure he doesn't have any chance to respond to any of her hits. To lock him down is what she aims to do and by god she will do it.
But as she continued her rush, she failed to notice that all around her the floors began to break more and more until the ceiling above her began to make some concerning sounds. Above them that was not seen is a piano, shelfs, a statue and a fridge. The debris were giving way ione after another as they were a culmination of all the floors debris. But she was so fixated on beating him that she didn't realize until it was too late as sounds failed to register on her. At the same time, she was starting to get tired as windows in between her strikes got longer and would leave her vulnerable for a few seconds. The excitement remained in her but it was about draining as she got ready to put handcuffs on Niso and take him in.
"You give up yet?", she said as she brought out then handcuffs, looking so sure that she beat him.

“Psssh. Killed. That makes it sound sooooo much more personal than it was. They were simply testing dummies afterall.~ I mean you don’t even know what I have planned…~” Niso opened his arms with a bit of swagger to his stance, suddenly very confident in his position as he opened up a little about the grand scheme here. Ooooh he’d always wanted to monologue, just once, but until now he’d never had a plan grand enough to deserve it. “Later 1900s building structure. Not entirely reliable but it’s lasted the test of time… there’s so few old buildings left in Tokyo, so I have to choose my targets carefully… because if I can learn how to make them BURN! BURN SO FURIOUSLY NO ONE CAN ESCAPE! Then I can finally move on and KILL someone. I can find those BITCHES who made my life a living hell! I can LOCK THEM INSIDE WITH ME! And I can see the fear and remorse of a life lived so horribly in their eyes as the flames devour them, and all they see in their minds, the last image burned into them before they enter the endless void of death… is my smile…in a sea of red and orange…! So let it be clear… I don’t care who dies in my path to make sure that who I truly, TRULY want to kill… dies in the most agonizing manner possible…~”
His smile perked up on the sides of his face, flesh actually tearing to make his smile grow larger than should be possible as a wild look grew in his eyes. “And if you… of all people think you have a chance of stopping me… ooooh don’t make me laugh…!~”
Niso let her make her daring move, smiling all the while as she rushed in with a flurry of blows, putting him on the back pedal. Briefly he tried to dodge, to make life hard on her as his body swayed and shifted unnaturally, but when he realized where she was aiming his expression grew all the wilder, almost seeming to encourage the targets she was choosing, subtly shifting his body to flow INTO her strikes. By the time she was done, he staggered onto the backfoot, his arms hanging loosely by his shides, shoulders AND elbows clearly dislocated and blood dripping from his mouth as one of his ribs had snapped under her strikes and pierced into his lungs… but despite the briefly pained image of his head slung back, blood dripping, arms loose… a gargled chuckle, met with blood bubbling out of his mouth, was all that he had. “God your slow learners. You UA lot… No wonder you need 3 years to be what all those vigilantes are without a day of training…” He slumped forward again, blood oozing out of his mouth, sizzling as it dried against the burning wood beneath his feet. It was like a small fountain for a little over a second before stopping entirely, Niso purging the blood from his lungs. “I’ve re-sealed the hole in my lungs… while my cells repair the damage… My muscle fibres are dragging my rib back into place… where stem cells will create new bone to mend the wound…my joints… are useless… when I can control my muscles so individually…~” He raised his arms as he took slow steps back towards Feng, the bones displaced, poking against his flesh from the inside, but his arms still able to lift and flex his hands like loose noodles given life. His eyes rose back to meet Feng. “Learn your lesson… you can’t kill me…. But ooooh… CAN I KILL YOU!-~”
With a sharp motion, and an outstretched hand, bone piercing through his own skin as he tried to act without properly relocating the bones within his arm, Niso’s lunge for Feng’s throat was halted by the sound of a sudden crash. Before Niso could even look up to the source of the sound it enveloped him, hefty furniture and wood panels drowning him and crashing him through the remaining floors of the burning building. A hefty food signalled he’d hit the ground floor, before cries of pain and agony soon followed.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!”
Niso was still laughing periodically through the fire, but dragged into the depths of it, with weights holding him down… they were no longer laughing over the pain… it was like each chuckle as a separate cry of agony. The pained cry of someone being tickled ‘to death’ perhaps. Almost able to feel the tears that would be in his eyes where Niso to allow himself to do such a thing. He was clearly pushing, trying to free himself, but his frantic panic coupled with the weight meant he wasn’t thinking straight, fully trapped as he struggled and squirmed, flames quickly overtaking his whole body as he screamed out in pain, his throat becoming dry, but that just adding a deeper, cracking tone to his cries.
Niso was far too deep in the depths of the flames for Feng to ever consider saving him without being burned alive herself. She just got to listen to the cries of someone being burned alive, extended by Niso’s attempts to regenerate himself… where a normal person may die in seconds… it was taking Niso minutes.

Feng landed blow for blow as she unleashed her fury on Niso as his words fell on deaf ears. Each hit landing in every area as she aimed for parts of his body that will disable his movements. It felt liberating to say the least as he became a punching bag and didn't realize that he was letting her land her hits and flowing with her blows. The euphoria of beating him to a bloody pulp was too alluring to hold back as he was a villain. He had taken many lives before this point and he shows zero remorse for his actions that allows her to treat him with such disregard. Kicks, Jabs, Body blows, breaking certain limbs, everything she had up her sleeve from her memory; memories of when her mother taught her anatomy, when she taught whenever she was in a fight…but it wasn't enough as she the excitement was beginning to wear off as she had him pinned to the floor.
The burning sensation and the sight she was seeing before snapped her out of it as she felt short on breath. It was too late for what she did as she saw what she had done to the villain. The frist thoughts were the fact that if she was going to take him in, how are people going to react to this. She is just an intern and doing this level of damage is going to land her in some serious trouble if she continues to wail on him. His words were now being heard as it began to get to her as she saw his mouth gargle with blood. First came the realization as she saw her hands all bloodied up and his mangled body as she saw the blood on her outfit. Then came the afterthought and regret of her decision as she stumbled back for a moment upon realizing what she had done. Her hands began to shake as she tried hard to keep her fighting stance as she stood there covered in his blood. But then came the horror as she saw him regenerate from this damage in the most horrifying way possible as he got ready. Senses and mental alarms were going off like crazy that she needed to RUN but the fear got to her as she stood still in the midst of the flames. The fire and the situation had gotten out of hand and the fear of death became real as he began to come towards her. His bones jutting out as she stayed ready to defend herself but the terror of death kept her from reacting properly. Her expression was strained as she kept her composure but the mask felt likes it was going to break but she held on as she didnt want the villain to win.
‘“SHIT IM GONNA DIE!”, she said in her mind as she was a second to late in her reaction to his attack that was aimed straight for her throat. But to her fortunate something stopped him at the last second as she quickly looked above to see the roof coming down as Feng quickly activated her quirk to jump backwards and dodge the debris. But she saw Niso clearly get caught in it as he fell into the fires below. She though she was safe for a moment but then the screams and laughter came in as she can hear his voice scream in agony as he burned in the flames. The floor below was hell and she cant even remotely go down there without getting burned alive. She walked over to the hole to see his status and he was burning alive, it was something no one should ever witness at her age as she saw the villain squirm and scream to free himself from the pile. Her knees felt weak as she stumbled back to realize that it was too late, she can't save him and she was the cause of it.
Panic, regret, rage and all sorts of emotions went through her as she realized that this was the first time she has killed a person. The Tao and that incident thought she had proved they were different but with this it only proves them right. Bile in her stomach felt rancid as she wanted to throw up at the very sight of it but she couldn't bring herself to.It felt like it went on for an eternity as she heard him scream in pain. She covered her ears but it didn't do anything as everything was falling apart around her. She had to face the repercussions of her decision or have this haunt her forever. But if she did, all of her hard work would be for nothing and her struggles would be for naught….she can't afford to risk it now. Moments go by as she tried to rationalize that she couldn't save him and that it's better that he died than be taken in. It was messed up, it was inhumane but with too many things on the line, she cant afford to tell anyone about this.
But then she realized that the fire can burn away all the evidence and there are barely any witnesses to spread rumor of this. The lie began to take shape as she looked towards a window and was getting ready to get out of here. Whatever god could be watching her, they would understand in their own way as she was simply doing what she needed to do. Tears went down her face as she went for a running start towards the window. Her sin will follow her to her grave but this is the one instance that she can live with it as she crashed through the window.
The change in lighting was a shock to the senses as she was momentarily blinded by the sunlight as she landed on the ground, coughing up a storm as she saw that emergenyc services had arrived. A crowd had gathered and the couple she saved earlier were relieved to see her fine as the paramedics came to check on her condition, Her outfit was covered in soot and burned beyond recognition and it was a saving grace as the blood stains were hidden behind the thick layer of black. The fire department began to go to work as she watched from a distance as she was patched up. She didn't have any energy to even speak and she hopes that the problem solves itself with the fire as her Expression can say a thousand words and she just stared into the void as she couldn't find the words to describe what she saw.
It felt like a dream but she was put on a stretcher as her condition wasn't doing too hot as she started to pass out from the heat. She was put on ice as was taken to the hospital. But in the back of her mind, she hopes that the damn villain burns to ash and becomes a memory to her as she begins to fall asleep.

Niso was… a special creature. As much as he tried to kill and to harm and to sow chaos in the world, his true goal beyond all of that was to just… live. He feared the endless darkness that he had conceptualized as death. From a scientific stance, in his view, once you die… reality ends. No memories. No thoughts. No nothing. You never even existed to your own perception of yourself and you’d never exist again.
He had to avoid that endless void at all costs… and as such he’d trained his body to survive absolutely anything he could consider. Perhaps being burned alive was not something he’d ever considered would actually happen… but when the pain finally became too much to bear and he realized he wasn’t able to escape, his body forced him to pass out, supposedly ‘dying’ in the flames… as his body, and his quirk got to work on preserving him.
Oxygen was scarce with the flames around him, but even someone like him needed all the oxygen it could to survive. He took one last deep breath, face low to the ground to avoid the smoke, and his lungs filtered it as best they could, pushing pockets of oxygen into his lungs and avoiding unnecessarily filling his bloodstream with oxygen. What little was already there was focused on preservation. His blood flow slowed to a nonexistant crawl, his brain functions were shut down to the bare minimum, and any wasteful processes like trying to process food or the like were stopped entirely. He was as close to death as he could come, but still resting on the edge, kicking his legs out over the endless void with a smile on his face.
As the sensation of heat started to fade from his senses, Niso’s body worked on repairing the intense damage he’d been suffering. The surface layer of skin pushed further outward, burned so deeply that even such slight movement forced it to crack and snap. He was lucky he was mostly unconscious, otherwise he’d be screaming in agony all over again, especially as the ash and cinders seeped into the newly formed chasms in his skin.
What little energy he could process first focused on repairing his lungs and throat, using the oxygen he’d stored earlier if need be. Without regaining consciousness his heart and lungs would begin to work so his body could accumulate the natural catalysing agent that was oxygen and focus on healing him, fresh, baby like skin forming beneath the damaged outer layers, slowly but surely replacing it across his body. It would have been a process that took hours, but buried under a burned building, it went unnoticed.
Before long his body stopped registering the shifting sounds of workers toying with the rubble. In the next few days recovery teams would come to the cordoned off remains to identify more bodies if they can and insurance teams would be coming even after that, but for now, in the dead of night, Niso had a chance to leave. Pushing weakly against the ground, the burned dry skin cracked and slipped off his body, a thin layer of mucus between his new skin and his old, forcing it to slip and slide off his body, and helping him drag himself out of the wreckage. His body was still on fire, so many new nerve endings adjusting to even the tickling of the air, feeling like a thousand needles were ramming into his skin. Niso, in a fugue state, no emotion on his features, dragged himself from the carnage…
he’d have to be sure complications like this didn’t happen when it came to St Martas…
