Hm, once someone said it did not do well to dwell on the past because it would give you bad thoughts of something that was already done. Another person said once that dwelling about the future gave you worries that might not come at all. But what was a piece of advice for Niji? Honey wasn't ready for this yet but she was determined to not give up on Niji here and now and run away to her room when there was no way to make it better. But she did recognize herself in the pressure that Niji explained, though not in the same way but everyone wanted something else from her. Here she was as a hero student, a support one at that because it was good for a PR situation for the actress Honey Lemon, not that anyone at the school knew but Orlov-sensei at this point but that did not matter. Honey knew that she was dragged from tutoring, dancing class, singing classes and acting classes to every point, god it was so tiring. "Maybe it is good to clear that up with the people who really matter to you. Ask them what they think you want to do and should be good for you but explain what you want to do. Most people don't know that they might be pushing you into something you don't like." Though, she did not take that advice herself, but then again, she liked everything... except for the busy days where she couldn't hang out with her friends because that was tiring.
She watched the girl explain and she nodded, wew such big dreams and she sat down with a little poof herself. Maybe she could talk to the career advisor, or just at the counsellor or maybe Orlov-sensei? She bit her lip when Niji said she wanted to sing again without feeling guilty about it. So that was a setting in her mind that would not allow her to sing and Honey fumbled with her fingers and held her tail again. Hm, or maybe advice all three of them. Knowing who can do a better job than her was probably for the best too. She tilted her head when Niji hopped to another subject instead of explaining what she meant, okay sour subject, next. She nodded, "I don't see much for mine either. I just try to live by the day or maybe next week so I don't forget to do my homework." She scratched behind one of her ears with a hehe-sound, thank god she was now roommates with Kumoko. "I am not that good with advice, but there are people here that are a lot better, I don't know who your homeroom teacher is but I had a lot of help thanks to Orlov-sensei, he is my big inspiration!" She said happily and couldn't wait to see him again in the next class. "But you also have the counsellor named Mosa Ganbaroshi, he is really good at his job, knows how to support you and talk to you and teach you everything you need to know and maybe he could help you with considering how to sing again, as in to maybe not feel guilty about it, and and well he is great with words, so he could maybe consider and talk to you about what you could do for your future but you also have Hatsumomo Tsuchiya-san, she is the secretary of the principal and the career advisor. To see what you can do or who to talk to or work with to see for your future if you want to make support tech and the like!" She said enthusiastic, wouldn't that be amazing!

Nji laughed a little through her tears at the homework comment that Honey made. She was so full of happiness and energy. What made her get to that point? Was she always like this? Niji listened carefully to the young girl's words, as though each was filled with a hint to help her understand that she could change the way she had seen her own fate. Maybe Niji could see a change in her future. A future where people accepted for her drams, and not for the dreams that she had to create out of the necessity of feeling needed or making others happy. But there was a part of her that was still resistant to change.
"I'll look in on that," Niji replied, thinking how a counselor and career advisor could help her move forward in the right direction. She wiped away the remainder of her tears away. She had a sad smile on her face. "And your advice is great, by the way. The problem is just me." She looked at Honey, thinking of the right words to say. "I have always thought that maybe if I did what everyone else wanted it would be fine in the end. I would bury away the pain of feeling so alone. I knew in my heart I could not do that."
She looked back at the sky, looking at the millions of stars gracing the sky. "But I guess I was only fooling my self," she continued with a sad look on her face. "I guess maybe I need to come to terms with some things. But it hurts so much. Every time I think about it, every time I sing, it's like piece of my soul is dying off. It feels like every song is pulling me away from what is real in my life. Every tech I build is burying it away in a junk pile of truth." It was kind of weird of her to use the terminology to explain how she felt, but it was the best she could come up with how she felt at the moment. "I'm just not sure. How do you stay so positive about... everything?" she asked Honey?

She was glad she made Niji laugh a little, that was something she would not forget, laughter was important. She would try to be very serious though and help the first-year girl with the advice that she could give. She nodded with a bright smile, after all Niji should want that herself and if she didn't than nothing would happen. "Don't see yourself as a problem!" Honey quickly cut in as Niji said that and she held her hand if the girl would allow her and she listened, she wanted to say so much every time Niji took a pause but she managed to hold her tongue and not say anything yet until Niji was finished. "My dad," it felt wrong to say as Honey had the idea that Niji lost her dad, but she had to be honest with the girl so she would continue, "Taught me how to look at the bright side of things. Even when work is tiring or training or I got hurt, he will tell me that I learned something new and would only become better. He works a lot himself, I barely see him, I see my mom a lot more but I just want to think about him and think like him, which is why I try, he also said I am a squirrel, maybe that helps though." She said with a little chuckle, though that laugh stopped quite quickly as she looked at Niji.
"Like I said Niji, there is nothing wrong with you, you are very human. But maybe you can change your mind with why you sing and why you build tech, not that it hurts your soul but that it reaches your friends, they will always be with you right? That's how I see it." Easy for you to say before U.A. you had no friends, she thought annoyed of herself, "And every piece of tech, no matter the quality is a step to learn to make it better. It will be a long road but as long as you want to do it, you should be able to." She smiled because motivation was the best medicine to go and continue something.

Niji had never looked at it that way. Maybe because the pain of the past was so much, that she had categorized her pain into what she actually did. She had been trying to be what everyone else wanted her to be instead of what she needed to be. And the things she needed to be she had related to her own pain to cope with it, fearful of the results it may bring. But here sat someone who might not have gone what she went through, but still was giving words as though she understood where Niji was coming from. It was enough to make Niji cry a little with a smile.
"Thank you, Honey," Niji said through the tears with a smile. Her words might had not resolved everything, but it was enough to push Niji forward. Niji laughed a little, feeling embarrassed for unloading her problems on the second-year. "I didn't want to be a burden to you. I guess this had been building up for some time now. I feel kind of bad that this is how our first meeting went." She paused for a second and looked at the starry sky. An idea popped in her head and she turned to look at Honey. "Will you sing with me?" Niji asked her. She wanted to try singing, not because of her mistakes, but what Honey had suggested before. In remembrance of her father and her friends.

When Niji smiled and cried, Honey couldn't help but give the girl a hug. "Don't worry about it, Niji. I am glad I could make you smile." She said happily, surely it was just the beginning, Niji had to work on trying to find a way that she could endure and work further on her own future but it was a start. She looked up when Niji laughed a little again and then said she didn't want to burden her and Honey looked at her a little shocked, hoping Niji wouldn't feel bad about doing so. But she just said she did so and Honey held her own cheeks. "Oh no, no, it's fine." She followed where Niji looked at the sky and turned her bright green eyes, again in surprise, to the girl before bringing out a bright smile. "Definitely." She said happily, the thing was that even if Honey wasn't allowed to talk about her other career or careers, she wasn't doing so if she sang right? She would just sit there for a second and think, "Do you have a song in mind that you would like to try?" This was a moment for Niji so Honey did not mind as long as she knew the song. She hoped that this moment would make her new friend feel better than she did when they bumped into each other at the end of this afternoon. It was just advice but Honey was quite satisfied with what she had tried and said and that Niji had smiled, that was the goal after all.

Niji thought about it for a second. What song could she sing that would make her feel... better? A song of accomplishment? No, she had a long way to go before that. A song about her freedom? Still not the moment. She thought long and hard about a song and then one came to mind. A song she heard one of her favorite artists sing. She quietly sang the lyrics, thinking about the good times she had with the friends she had a long time ago. She was planning to sing it with the rest of the group as a tribute to the artist, but they never got that chance. But why not sing it as a tribute to her friends?
As she sang the words, Niji looked towards the sky, remembering the fun times she had with her friends. The times they played together and talked about silly random things. She thought about the days when her and her father would spend together, talking about her dreams and goals. She remembered her father laughing with pride when she told him that she wanted to a singer/tech designer. He hugged her daughter, she can still remember the warmth she felt.
She thought about the times when her friends and father gave her words of encouragement. "Do your best." "We can do this together." The words still lingered in her heart, and Honey had managed to pull those words to the surface. Whether Honey knew the words to the song, she can sing along if she did. In her mind, Niji could see the stars turn into her friends, each dressed in different colors dancing and singing, waiting for her when she had accomplished everything in her life.
Niji knew that one day she will be with her friends again. She knew she would sing and dance with them all night long. She knew that she would get to hug her father again. But right now she had work to do. She a future to stride towards too. But until then she would sing this song in memory of them. She will let her soul free a little bit at a time and come back to where she started from. If Honey knew the song, she can sing in chorus with her.
Niji felt in her heart, as she watch the stars danced in the night sky, that those stars was the people that everyone has lost. And she was okay with trying to let go and move forward, because she knew. She knew they would be waiting for her. But at the same time, they were cheering for her, encouraging her to move forward.

Honey watched Niji think and she would just wait for the girl to see what she would sing and she wasn't sure if she would know the song. There were so many songs after all, old and new and Honey was just wondering what to think about. She followed Niji her look but obviously nothing came to Honey. Niji asked so she wasn't going to suggest a song but when she started the first course and she nodded, she knew the text very vaguely, it helped that her American family liked the old classic songs so she was thinking about it. She would give Niji the first course, she had forgotten that the first course was actually going quite slow, the upbeat came only in the second part.
She would swing her legs back and forth and sing with Niji the together again lyrics. She wasn't sure if this was a smart move and if it would make Niji sad again but she would do and she would take the second voice when the song would show that. She looked from the corner of her eyes to Niji to make sure the girl was okay. Singing was a way to let out the music, she knew that, but Honey wasn't so good at that, she was always too happy for songs like this, but Elise had given her some nice pointers so she could help with it, but it was an emotional song that she could not relate to.
When the song was over, Honey clapped for the both of them, "That was a good one," She smiled and hopped off her little seat. "Come on, we should get dinner!" It was quite late after all and already dark, Niji could use some support so Honey offered it for today but more than this and just hanging out, that was not something Honey herself could provide.

At the end of the song, Niji felt... good. Maybe not amazing, but she knew now she would get there with time. Thanks to Honey, she had discovered some things about herself. Things that she was trying to run away from or hide from others to see. But if these were the people, like Honey, who was here to show her the light... then she may be just fine. Honey sang with Niji, knowing some of the words. It felt good to sing again. Whether it was to be sad or to be happy, it felt nice to not have to hide her voice from people.
"Thank you," Niji responded to Honey's comment. "One of my friends came up with the idea of singing a version of that song at a concert one day." Niji got up from the grass, a small confident smile on her face. "And thank you for singing with me and talking with me. I do appreciate it." Niji didn't tell her everything, but it felt good to go to someone else about her issues. Honey was good at helping people, but she could swear she had seen her before. Even while they sang, her voice sounded familiar.
Oh well. No point on dwelling on it. "Yes, dinner sounds great." As she headed back in with her newfound friend, Niji for the first time in a long while felt hopeful of her future.
