The train ride from Tokyo to Musutafu hadn't taken too long, though Jasmine had clearly forgotten how crowded Japan's public transportation system could get. She was still feeling a little dizzy as she walked along the suburban area of the city, yet her eyes still couldn't help but take in the familiar sights. A small smile was seemingly permanently etched on to her face as nostalgia hit her like a freight train. It was only a year ago that she used to frequently jog around these parts. Only a year, yet in the ashen-haired girl's mind it felt like several lifetimes ago. Things were so different back then. Maybe, just... maybe, she could get a shred of normalcy back.
She picked up her phone and quickly punched in a text message for the girl she was coming to visit: Be there in five.
It had been quite a while since the lone wolf had seen Yumi. Her head full of pretty red hair was often a memory she'd go back to just to remember how fun the days at school used to be. 'Course they weren't all fun and games - that year had its own portion of shit and misery the lass had to trudge through. But comparing that to everything else that transpired during her stay back in the states? Yeah. She knew what she'd choose in a heartbeat.
Finding the location to Yumi's house wasn't too difficult. Following the directions Yumi sent over, Jaz quickly found herself in front of quite sizeable yet rather worn house. Despite being worn, it felt... homey. The girl snorted, already imagining how Yumi must've undoubtedly pimped out the place from the inside.
Jaz couldn't lie, she was feeling a little nervous. Yumi was someone she met very early on when she first arrived at U.A. and their relationship very quickly turned into something more intimate. Likely even something that would've actually ended up as a good thing for the then-blonde lioness. Life doesn't always happen the way you want to though - sometimes Ravens can show up where you least expected. She snorted at that thought, but quickly discarded it.
Huffing out a breath and hopping in place a few times, Jaz pulled down her hood and pushed on the buzzer.

Yumi had spent the day just… well tidying up. Her and Red didn’t get many visitors and they were both quite honestly the type happy to live in a bit of a state. Nothing too extreme but with how many of their study sessions turned into… something else, things were bound to be in a bit of a mess here or there. Maybe a loose quilt or blanket from upstairs lingering in the livingroom or a glass stuck on a windowsill a few more days than it should be, but Yumi made sure to make an effort to make sure they didn’t look like complete slobs.
The livingroom was hardly the most done up part of the house anyway so there wasn’t too much to do. The walls weren’t fully painted yet, and there was clearly a bit of plastering where they’d fixed up some of the walls or gone into them to fix some damage and patched it up later. The walls were… clean though. They didn’t look grimy and old anymore, and even with the clear bits of patchwork it had all been smoothed over. A fine coat of paint and you’d be none the wiser. Heck it was a miracle what a good lightbulb could do too. A dim light made the place look like a shit hole but a nice bright new bulb had done them the world of good when they’d first started doing up the place.
Just a couch, a good TV, a few bookshelves of DVD anime collections and crap like that. The furniture was definitely pretty minimal. There was a beanbag in the corner too for someone to drag up an extra seat if it was needed. Ultimately it looked a bit barren without seeming poor. They clearly put some effort in they just hadn’t gone to ‘spare no expense’ levels, preferring to be a bit practical rather than flashy with what they chose. Her own room had a bit more flair, as did Red’s in… his own way but… yeah.
Generally they were still living arguably a student life, only you’d maybe expect more people living here to pay it off.
When she finally heard a knock at the door her mind flashed to an image of the girl she’d been tidying up for, a slight smirk pulling at her lips… yeah. She still… kinda regretted how she used to be when she’d first met and gotten close to Jaz, but she definitely didn’t regret whatever interactions they’d had. Jaz, like Kanna for instance, was someone Yumi never felt woulda actually judged her for how she acted in those regards…
She shook the ideas out of her head for now and headed for the door, answering it in a an orange half-length hoodie, a green tank top, and some cargo shorts, a typical outfit for her casual wear really. When she first opened up there was a brief pause, but as terrible as Yumi was with names she definitely remembered faces. “JAZ!~” She chimed as it clicked, pushing herself on the blonde and giving her a tight, squeezing hug. “Ooooo its so good to see you! Where’ve you been!?” She pulled back, still holding the girl’s shoulder as she gestured generally over her upper face, her eyes and her hair mainly. “And what on eeeearth happened here…?~”

Standing by idly after having run the doorbell, Jasmine was slightly pacing in place as she waited for Yumi to come out. Lots of thoughts ran through her mind as though time had almost stopped for the ashen-haired lass. These past few weeks have been like this. Slow. Deliberate. Filled with self-reflection that the girl hadn't asked for yet needed. She sighed to herself, softly. Maybe this little meet-up with somebody she used to call a friend would get her back into the swing of things. Hopefully.
The smile that came over Jasmine's lips the moment she laid eyes on the redhead was almost contagious. The bubble of energy that was Yumi Tasukai was quick to pounce on the lone wolf and wrap her arms around her, erecting a soft giggle from the ashen-haired teen. "It's really good to see you too, Yums," Jasmine offered. Though while her tone was a calmer, more softer one than compared to Yumi's, it lacked no amount of warmth to it as she met every single word she said. Almost as though on instinct, Jasmine's own arms wrapped around the other girl and pulled her in even closer for the hug as Jasmine rested her chin on the redhead's shoulder briefly, just taking her in. Her scent, her warmth, and her shining bubbly personality. Yeah. It was nostalgic. Way too nostalgic.
Her smile could only grow.
It wouldn't even falter when Yumi asked where she'd been, "Heh. Out and about, I guess you could say. How are you, Yumi? You seem to be doing pretty good for yourself!" Jasmine chimed in herself.
She blinked and chuckled at her question as Yumi pointed out her changed looks: her hair, eyes, and the newly acquired scar on her face. It was a wonder the redhead even recognized the all too different lass. Once a lioness, now a lone wolf, barely a shell of her former self. It was somewhat comforting that there was at least one person who still recognized who she was. A remnant from her past she might be, but it was one she was happy to hold on to.
"Well, it's a really long story, to be honest with you. I don't even know where to begin," Jasmine began, scratching at the back of her head sheepishly as she did so. "Guess I figured it was time for a change, huh? Does it look good on me?"
A small grin came over Jaz as she leveled the female with a sharp yet at the same time soft glance, "So, you gonna let me in or are we going to just chat outside your door?" --------- Yumi Tasukai || WC: 441

Yumi could hear the slight joy in Jaz’s own tone, and when the blonde had always been a bit of a rough and tumble type, hearing them seem pretty happy to see her was… something she needed. Yumi’d spent the past few months wondering who had ever really been her friend at UA and not just… someone who wanted something, or just treated her pleasantly in passing and little more. Hearing Jaz have some genuine fucking glee in her voice just from the two of them seeing one another? That… yeah. That was nice.
Still, she didn’t let the darker side of that thought register on her face, taking a slow breath and just internalizing the new Jaz. Her face was a little slimmer but still… striking. The vibrant green eyes seemed to just stand out all the more with how her skin had gotten a little paler since she’d last saw her, contrasted itself with the scar embedded across her cheek and the ashen hair framing it. Honestly Yumi wanted to offer a compliment but she wanted to gauge how Jaz herself was feeling about it. Afterall in this world of quirks she had no idea if this was a change by choice or some odd new side effect of her quirk somehow. It did change her eye color in the past afterall…
“I’m er… I’m doing okay. I told you about the modelling thing right?” She offered with a light smirk, curious to ask if Jaz had seen any of her work since she’d been back in town but maybe later. She was still very anxious about all that. Running a cosplay blog and stuff was one thing but being a real model still had her nerves in a bit of a mess. “But er.. yeah. Things are looking up for… for a change…” She lingered, her chipperness fading briefly as she rubbed the back of her neck, shrugging a little before putting on a smile again. “But hey, focus on the positives right?~”
Jaz mentioned it was a long story asking what she thought of it before teasing her to let her in, Yumi letting out a chuckle as she stepped aside and gestured within. “Sorry place is a bit er… minimal, but it’s cozy I promise.” She followed Jaz in, not minding if she took her shoes off. Her own mother being English she grew up in a household without such strict social rules about such a thing and she knew Jaz likely didn’t either. Following in behind, she’d slip to Jaz’s side just before she sat. “Erm… though as far as the new look goes… pretty striking I’ve gotta say…~” She offered, her tone making it clear the compliment was trying to be a little… ‘more’. Yumi was just unsure how to offer that Jaz looked ‘damn fine’ without coming off like a creep after so long. She knew from experience with Angel the wrong compliment could really make someone uncomfortable if ya let it out at the wrong time.

"Yeah, I remember that!" Jasmine remarked, her smile growing, "Though I have to admit I sadly haven't seen any. Not something I really follow, y'know? Though I was hoping maybe you'd show me some of the material from your shoots? I bet you look great," the ashen-haired wolf offered a small yet toothy grin to the redhead, feeling herself ease into the moment a little as Yumi walked her inside her house. Yeah, this was nice. It felt... warm. Like a semblance of her old-self still remained, caged somewhere deep inside this new mental prison she had built for herself over the months. This warmth was slowly pushing its way into the cold tundra that was Jasmine's mind - a state within which she had learned to feel comfortable; accept it as the new norm. Despite this intrusion, she couldn't say it was entirely unwelcome either. A little uncomfortable, to be sure, but definitely not something she'd ever think of shying away from.
She missed her friends, that much was obvious based on how she'd smiled more today than she did the entire week. Yumi's voice and words were like music to her ears, poking at nostalgia like a searing hot rod through flesh. "That sounds a lot like you," Jasmine offered in return to the bubbly girl as she gently pat the top of her head with her pale and slender fingers, adding a soft chuckle into the mix as she did so. "And yeah, things are looking up, luckily. Think they might actually accept me back at U.A. Didn't really expect that to happen given how I pretty much just disappeared but, hey, you won't find me complaining."
As she walked, listened, and casually chatted with Yumi, the ashen-haired American couldn't help her emerald greens slowly scanning the area, darting from corner to corner, observing and taking in the sight of Yumi's house. It was indeed a little worn yet all the while cozy and the thought made her smile even more apparent. It was also clear that Yumi had put a lot of work into the house, too! "You've done well for yourself, Yums. I'm happy for you!"
Having plopped down on the couch, side by side with Yumi, the teenager turned to her friend as she spoke, listening curiously. She raised her left brow in wonder, not being able to help the mischievous smirk on her lips from appearing. "Striking, huh? Now that's not something I hear every day," she chuckled. "I've looked pretty much homeless these past few months - and kinda have been - so the compliment's real nice, Yumi. Thanks. You, though. Man. You're still as gorgeous as ever. Got yourself a job, a house and everything. What, is the bubbly redhead who wandered into my dorm room that one night just about ready to settle? The horror!"
In hindsight, the previous statement was pretty accurate. Jasmine really did smile more in these last ten or so minutes than she had the whole week. If not the whole month or even longer. Yeah, she missed this girl.

Yumi held a bit of a prideful grin as Jasmine seemed kinda eager to hear about her modelling work and stuff, see some examples of it. Honestly the best part was… it didn’t sound perverse? It was a small thing but it really mattered to her when pulling Jaz back into her life after a year. It was the same with kanna. She just felt a… respect there, she didn’t feel like a lot of the other students had for her. Sure with both blondes, or, well, one of them was ashen now- Point being, with both of them there was still a chance it was flirty or cheeky but… not in a way Yumi could ever say lacked a sense of charm to it. “Y-yeah!~” She chimed, just trying to think if she had anything like that. “I have a few reject shots on my computer, and I can always show you my personal blog? Its not the most professional by comparison, but I’ve actually started earning some money through it? Heck it’s how I saved up cash for this place before I got a real job outta it… hehehe!~”
She ruffled her own fringe a little bit as Jaz seemed to say it was like her to look on the positives. Heh… guess that hadn’t changed entirely. She’d matured a bit, saw a bit more realism in things now, but… yeah. It was nice she still gave off that bubbly impression. She was glad she hadn’t lost it. “Oh they’re letting you right back into year 3 huh? Back in class A ya think? Heard they’re bringing in a new teacher for that homeroom. Dunno what happened to your old one if I’m honest…” She gave an idle shrug. “Then again. Staff turnover at this place aren’t exactly uncommon anyway…”
Yumi was smiling right as rain again as Jaz told her she’d done well for herself, letting out a chipper, slightly bashful chuckle as she rubbed at the back of her neck. “Oh this place ain’t too much special really. You shoulda seen it when I put down a deposit. Rent’s only so cheap cause of the amount of work we put in to make it look liveable.~”
Yumi’s light blush didn’t ease much when Jaz caught the compliment, letting out a light chuckle and shaking her head. “Yeah. ‘Striking’ is putting it lightly… don’t worry Jaz you’re still a knockout far as I’m concerned.” She offered with a little more forwardness and just as much sincerity. As she’d matured a bit her confidence in this stuff had grown too, she just needed a second to find her footing with Jaz on the matter. Another chuckle hit as she was teased about settling down, a slow sigh, but a blissful one, flowing out of her. “Oh I’m getting there… the single world can rejoice they ain’t got the competition anymore.~” She held a warm smile, enjoying the compliments she got herself. It wasn’t often someone offered her one that felt so… genuine, and not just flattery.

Jaz quirked a brow, snickering as her next words were followed by a gentle bop against Yumi's arm with her elbow, "You're really telling me you haven't kept any magazines with yourself on there? Why do I feel like calling bullshit?" The toothy grin was almost contagious as Jasmine felt herself fall into what felt almost as like an aura of a good mood surrounding her. She felt good. Really good. And that hadn't been the case in damn near half a year, she reckoned. When was the last time she was able to hold a properly nice and warm conversation with someone without there being some kind of catch or underlying meaning? Joke and casually flirt around without any bullshit creeping up from fuck knows where? Hell, even her paranoia wasn't showing up, for whatever reason. For the first time in what felt like far too long, Jasmine felt... almost at peace.
"I mean it, Yums," Jaz said as she slowly got up on her feet, groaning as she stretched her hands upwards above her head, revealing a little bit of her lower back and stomach as her jacket, hoodie and shirt lifted, her pale skin shining through with a few scars being visible here and there. She calmly walked over towards a random shelf and began looking through all the items that Yumi had collected over whatever span of time she'd spent in this house. It wasn't a lot, but it was definitely enough to make the place feel cozy. Her fingers went along a few things, some she carefully took into her hands to examine more thoroughly. "This place is nice," she paused, smiling, far too lost in her thoughts. "It's the kind of place Rin and I-... yeah," she'd managed to catch herself just at the right time, her tone dying as soon as she realized where she'd mindlessly wandered off to, her shoulders visibly slumping.
"Anyway!" The ashen-haired lass suddenly chirped up in an attempt to clear the mood. No use sulking in the past, right? "If you ever need help with repairs or anything like that, you have my number. I'm pretty good with tech and repairing stuff - built my own bike and everything when I was still here," she turned back to Yumi. "Yep. As far as I know it's going to be 3-A. And I'm here to stay this time. Enjoy my last year of high school, y'know? Maybe actually graduate, depending on how the year goes. Who knows?"
"Oh don't even," Jasmine's emerald green's rolled so far back you'd think she glanced at her own brain for a second there. "I swear even back when we were in our first year I think 1-A had like three homeroom teachers. It was retarded. I don't even know where all of them went... I hope this next one stays for a semester, at least."
"I'm not only striking but also knockout striking, huh? Since when did you start using such violent words, bubbles?" Jasmine jabbed back jokingly, a slightly visible shade of red appearing on her own cheeks courtesy of the compliment. Admittedly Jasmine was never one to dwell on compliments. Used to be she'd get them all the time. But now, with the way she'd been living... being appreciated and seen as attractive actually felt really fucking nice. "Oh and I knew it! I fucking knew it!" Jaz suddenly exclaimed, pointing a finger at Yumi while giggling to herself. "When you said you and Reddarcc were flatmates, I fucking knew you two got together. Hah!"
It didn't even take her too long to plop back down on the couch and scoot over to Yumi, her ever so curious emeralds staring the redhead straight in the face, "Tell me all about it!"

“Well er… I guess not?” She answered simply enough. She could easily access a few of them online, and the ‘spare shots’ felt more… collectible, as dumb as that now sounded in her head. They were pictures she could share that weren’t just gonna be found in any other magazine but were in no way ‘less professional’ or anything like that. She also had the blog she could share or just go online to find the digital versions of the catalogues so… when she’d especially been there to see all the other outfits for a catalogue get modelled, it hadn’t crossed her mind to ever buy the magazine herself, and it was only just now coming across to her she may be doing this backwards. “I-I mean the spare shots I’ve got are still great honestly? I can go grab a few in a bit if you want?”
With the compliments continuing to her new place, Yumi blushed a little. “Oh come on really it’s not like my parents place or anything. Nothing too special. Just… still a bit of a fixer upper.” She tried to defend. “You should see the frat house thing they moved into on the other side of the block. That place is much bigger and nicer.” She referred of course to the house a bunch of close students had rented out together, referring to as a frat house kinda jokingly, especially since Yumi was sure a few girls lived there if memory served right. She glanced over to Jaz as she rose though, her eyes widening a little as the pale, damaged skin of her fellow heroine in training was missing its usual tattoo… her lips parted to ask but… maybe not just yet.
The mention of Rin caught her a little too, Yumi starting to ask- “So is Rin not coming ba-“ But Jaz’s own sharp ‘ANYWAY’ had cut her off, and she let out a nervous chuckle as she realized it might be at least a somewhat sensitive subject for the blonde opposite her, rubbing at the back of her neck again. Even if Jaz was back, and feeling comfortable, to Yumi there was this sense of ‘unanswered questions’ going on about it all but… she didn’t wanna make her friend uncomfortable by bombarding her with questions she’d likely be asked dozens of times in the coming weeks. “Yeah here’s hoping they stuck around for you. Shame you didn’t end up in 3C though, sure would be nice to have the ol’ ‘top fighter’ representing us too.~”
Her blush rose a bit more as she got teased about the compliments, giving Jaz’s arm a light shove and a pouty little smile all the same as she narrowed her eyes into a playful glare. “S-shut up I’m not used to this sort of thing as surprising as that may be.” She’d been getting better but… her old method of ‘flirting’ was just getting close to someone and testing the limits. As fun as this was it was new territory for her. When Red came up though her blush only grew worse, groaning a little into her hand as she leaned back into the corner of the couch.
“T-tell you what exactly!?” She blurted out, ‘girl talk’ in this area more DEFINITELY not something she had experience with.

Oh...? Oh! The grin that came over Jasmine was almost ecstatic when Yumi recoiled away from her out of sheer embarrassment, trying her best to hide inside the cushions of the couch. It was so damn cute. Utterly adorable. And Jasmine Noir wouldn't be Jasmine Noir if she didn't capitalize on this situation to the best of her abilities. Yeah, she'd seen some shit. Been broken a few dozen times here and there, had her psyche mangled twenty times over and then some, and still that little vein of mischief that she'd been known for was very much alive. Alive and fucking rearing to go. Opportunities like this one didn't come out too often, after all.
"Oh you know exactly what you're going to tell me~" the lone wolf purred in a moment of rare intimacy as she approached, her emerald greens suddenly lighting up with that famed fire of curiosity that could seemingly never be put out. Her right hand reached over to grasp at the backrest while her left supported her weight on the armrest, completely caging the redhead as the sly lass approached, her face shrouded with the colors of the most pleasant of ill intentions. She scooted closer. Closer and closer until her lips were just inches away from Yumi's ear.
...a long, teasing pause followed as a hot breath crashed down on the side of Yumi's face. "How..." she paused, slowly inhaling another breath, "...how do you guys handle the whole toilet seat situation?"
...
...
...
Yeah that pause was a little too dragged out but it was necessary for comedic effect.
She tried to keep her laughter in as best she could... a snort... a fuckin' chortle... then straight up laughing as she backed off and fell back onto the couch. "What did you think I was going to ask? How is he in bed? Haha!"
"Oh God, Yums. You're adorable. I mean... how did you two end up together?"

Yumi only really had one side of her face covered but she was peeking through her fingers of that hand anyway as Jaz said she’d know ‘exactly’ what she was gonna tell her, letting out a nervous chuckle and a meek- “Oh, do I…?” As Jaz reared up for her question… only for something clearly intended to be a joke to come out of her mouth. Yumi couldn’t really hold back on that for long before bursting into chuckles of disbelief herself, shaking her head and letting out a bit of full laughter and a satisfied sigh when she started to calm down after the long pause, glad Jaz wasn’t gonna be absolutely merciless with this and that she’d gotten her laughing again before forward.
“I-I dunno I’ve never really done the whole girl talk thing before! You might have!” She admitted, still blushing furiously but more glad she could chuckle through it, letting out a more content sigh as she started to collect herself a bit, resting her back against the couch in a less timid position, arms folded about herself.
“I mean… I dunno. It feels like a long story but also… not? He’s a bit of an idiot but also in that dumb, anime sorta way… like he does those romantic gestures you see in shows and stuff, not cause he thinks it’ll ‘get him the girl’ but because… he genuinely thinks stupid shit like that is a good idea? Between that and him just… being there for me when shit hit the fan a couple of times I just… it happened naturally… I guess…”
She rubbed at the back of her neck, recalling how she’d actually ‘asked Red out’ a long time before they got together, but with worrying she was the school slut she’d avoided making anything of it so as to not drag Red down with her or… play into anyones assumptions of her. ‘Oh look at Yumi getting with the first guy who was nice to her’… yeah. She didn’t want that for either of them.
“Dumbass ended up setting up fireworks for my birthday… in a fucking blizzard! Hahah!” She let out a chuckle, still remembering how cold he looked when he finally ended up getting to her place after them. “He erm.. oh!” Yumi pulled her necklace out of her shirt, presenting the curved lightning bolt logo she’d once drawn in art club as a token at the end of the necklace. “He made me this and… well it plays his voice if I press the icon, b-but to be fair I kinda… did that first? He was looking real low working up to Christmas so I was his secret santa and I got him a little chibi version of my face that gives him a little inspiring message when he presses a button and-“
Yumi paused, realizing she’d been talking a little fast and… slowly lowering the necklace. “… I just forgot to actually answer your question didn’t I?” Yeah. Pretty sure.

The ashen wolf giggled as she tried to sit back up straight, her lips still being tickled by the laughter that was left on the tip of her tongue. The girl shook her head a negative at Yumi's suggestion, not really remembering when 'girl talk' was really a thing she'd even done before. "Nah, you know me better than that. Girl talk. Boy talk. Why not just friend talk?" Her fangs on display, Jasmine grinned brightly at the redhead as she moved a strand of heir out of her face, content to just listen.
And listen she did, so much so that each and every word created a picturesque image of the scene inside Jasmine's mind. She scooted backwards, deeper into the couch as she kicked off her boots and brought her knees close to her face, wrapping her arms around her legs. She laid her cheek on top of her knees, closed her eyes and just took in what Yumi was saying with a small smile on her lips. Heck, even her cheeks had gotten a little redder the more she listened, humming along to the words. Aaaaaaah~, she missed this. She missed this so damn much.
If one knew Jasmine, the sight of the lone wolf at this particular point would likely come across as very... foreign. Jasmine wasn't known to be sensitive, nor did she ever seem the type to ever care too much about such simple things like gifts or cute gestures by a boyfriend or girlfriend. Rin was probably the only one who got to see that side of Jasmine, and a part of her couldn't help but be reminded of the many days she had spent with the little Raven cooped up in her bed, just snuggling... watching TV... looking at memes... talking... doing homework. Sundays. Sundays were their days. Fuck the world, nobody saw either Rin nor Jasmine on a Sunday.
So it wasn't like Jasmine was completely oblivious to such things. She was actually very aware of them, just... very rarely showed it. Now, though, as the image of a Yumi plushie and the sight of a lightning pendant was thrown right at her face, as the image of Reddarc freezing in the snow while trying to congratulate Yumi for her birthday was painted for her to envision clear as day, the ashen-haired lass couldn't help but very literally exude sheer unadulterated happiness. No, her happiness wasn't there because she thought of Rin, nor was her mood dampened by it either. No, her happiness wasn't because she had the chance to meet up with Yumi again, though doubtless it was a part of it. And no, her happiness wasn't because she had felt safe, appreciated, found attractive and then so many other things that Yumi made her feel like.
No, this happiness? This happiness was genuine, and it was directed at Yumi. The lone wolf was legitimately happy for the redhead, without a single other thought out there. Between all the bullshit she'd been dealing with, all of the friends she'd lost, all of the pain, suffering, and whatever other horrifying crap that she'd been slapped with... this? Hearing all of this felt like a fucking miracle.
When Jasmine finally opened her eyes again, her sharp gaze had grown softer... warmer. In an extremely rare moment of vulnerability brought on by a spurt of pure glee, Jasmine sniffled before giggling, tilting her head on her knee so she could lock eyes with the redhead. "Nah," she supplied. "That was the best answer I could've ever hoped to hear. You two adorkable nerds seem like the perfect fit for each other and I couldn't be happier about that. Sincerely."

“Heh, yeah, guess even after a year I should know better huh?” She offered back with a light tease as she calmed her nerves down, just taking a moment to collect herself so she wasn’t giggling before she ended up rambling instead. She just ended up ticking off the boxes of sweet things Red has done without trying to make it all seem one note, the times he was there for her, the goofy shit they did for eachother, just letting it all slide off the tongue so to speak as she tried to fill Jaz in, but accidentally slipping up and not actually telling her how the two of them got together by the end of it all.
She actually felt a little nervous when she noticed how Jaz had curled up into a ball like that… it seemed.. pleasant? But god from Jasmine of all people it seemed borderline sarcastic. Borderline, mind. Yumi could tell something pleasant was definitely going through her from the way she looked and the oh so genuine smile across her lips, but Yumi herself just found this image so foreign to her image of the blonde lioness that she had to wonder what had changed to bring this out in her. God she… did she just sniffle? And giggle to boot? Yumi almost wanted to ask if something was wrong but… she could still tell there was something positive here, and didn’t want to spoil her friend’s mood.
“Hhehehe…w-well er… yeah I…thanks.~” She let out, rubbing the back of her neck nervously. “Though… to ACTUALLY answer your question I guess, we got together in England. I dunno if you were watching but while the first years had a sports festival, ya know with all the foreign schools visiting, the second years visited England for the exhibition festival. Bit more high end in terms of some of the events and it was a nice vacation… we were originally meant to be staying in a hostel but er… Red heard me complain and… well…”
She just dropped her head to the side, unable to believe this happened. “Somehow by ‘accident’ the dork ended up using his money to rent us a pent house suite in a nearby hotel. He originally intended to just let me stay there but he spent so much on it that er… well I mean I couldn’t just let him walk back to the hostel and get back aches off the crappy beds, ya know?” She raised a hand before adding. “Don’t ask me how he afforded it by the way. I model and yet he still somehow blows more cash than me. No idea how that works out for him.”
Still, taking a breath, she continued. “So… this might sound creepy I guess but… it’s what happened so… one day he went out to grab us food and I er… I’d been kinda… quietly in love with him for a while, and he was my flatmate anyway so… I kiiiiinda got into the habit of stealing his shirts cause they were like, big and cozy and… ya know when you’re as tall as me its not usual you get nice baggy clothes like that to snuggle into…. And I er… may have… fell asleep. Somehow. On his bed…”
She covered her mouth subtly as her eyes drifted away, a rosey tint to her cheeks now. “So erm. He came back. I was just napping on his bed in his shirt… apparently I was er… sleep talking about him and… it spiralled from there…” Her blush got a little worse, turning her whole head away at that point.

"Damn straight," the wolf confirmed, snickering to herself cheekily. Though, even during her fits of happiness moments of clarity would still bring her back to reality, making her notice how confused and maybe little unnerved Yumi was at seeing this side of Jaz. She could barely suppress the scoff that wanted to snake itself out of her. She had moments like this in the past, sure, but Jasmine herself was pretty sure she was likely being more emotional than she'd been before in moments like this, mostly because of how cold she'd been for so long. Not that she cared, really. It did bother her a little that Yumi tried to seem comforting and not pry into Jaz's own things, but at the same time Jaz was glad she didn't - she honestly didn't want to ruin the moment with her own sob story.
"England, huh... I've never been. And no, I had no idea. Think when you guys went there I wasn't exactly... able to really follow the news and stuff. Y'know, being busy with shit. Nothing unusual," she said, chuckling a little sheepishly, yet all the while listened while remaining curled up in a ball. She raised a hand in tandem with Yumi, "No questions from me, red. The way men make money is best not questioned... y'know, unless it's some shady shit. Though, knowing Reddarc... yeah, I don't see that happening," she laughed.
"Nah, I don't think that's creepy," Jasmine replied, shaking her head. "Quite cute, actually. Trust me, from experience I can say there's nothing hotter than seeing your girl wearing your shit. That shit's like magic. Let alone asleep? In your own bed? Dude I can only imagine Red's face," Jasmine laughed again, grinning. "Then again that's the territory I really don't want to pry into... your face kinda gave it away anyway," she teased, poking Yumi's arm with a finger as the girl turned away, embarrassed and without a singular excuse... not that she needed any.
Sitting still for a little while, Jaz just hummed to herself as she took the current moment in, eyes closed, a smile firm on her face. It wasn't until one or two quiet moments later that she lifter her face and opened her eyes. She really should, shouldn't she? Inwardly, Jasmine couldn't help but debate it. A part of her wanted to be selfish, to just... keep this one happy moment and lock it away from all the crap that she had following with her. Yet she knew that Yumi wanted to ask but likely wasn't just to make her feel better... and Jaz would probably just end up feeling worse by not saying, and then, if Yumi found that out, she'd probably feel bad about it and yadda yadda yadda and it's a whole vicious cycle of bad stuff all over again.
A sigh left the lone wolf as she let her legs rest on the ground. Taking her sweet time, not saying anything at all, the ashen-haired lass leaned back into the couch, feeling the softness of the cushions against her back relaxing her spine a little. Damn, even if the sofa was a little worn, it was freaking amazing.
"Y'know," she began, clearly a little hesitant, "I wish I could give you the same type of story from my own side," she admitted, her head lowering once again, eyes staring at her fingers which she was now fiddling with.
"Rin's gone," were the only words that left her lips for quite a while, and the tone that they were laced with... Yumi could likely notice how much sorrow was in them. Not venom. Not anger. Just... sadness. "I uhm... I got into a little bit of trouble back in the states. We both did. That's why we couldn't come back or actually say anything. Think they actually declared me missing here in Japan - not entirely sure on that part. But well suffice it to say Rin and I got way in over our heads. One thing lead to another and I ended up being in a coma for give or take three months." None of the words she had said thus far had felt heavier for the ashen-haired wolf than the very first statement she made, regardless of how dreadful it all seemed. It was almost as though Rin was the only real focus. The only real... loss. Which, in Jasmine's jaded mind... wasn't even too far from the truth.
Rin was her everything.
"I was told by the hospital staff that she didn't leave my side for near two months or so... y'know, while I was comatose. Until, one day... she just... stopped showing up. Just. Out of nowhere. Didn't leave anything behind either. No location. No news. No... nothing." The girl kept fiddling with her fingers, "I tried looking for her. Still am, honestly. But there's been nothing. Nothing at all. It's like she... dropped off the face of the planet."
And then... the real weight she'd been carrying came crashing down in the form of a broken voice. "...every morning I dread to wake up thinking... Today is going to be the day they tell me they found a body. And that has me... totally and utterly terrified, Yums."
Jasmine lowered her head, "Sorry, didn't meant to ruin the mood or anything like that. My life's never been anything worth writing home about. Probably why I don't like talking about it."

“Oh.” A little surprised Jaz didn’t even keep up with the equivalent of the sports festival, she didn’t judge on the matter. Heck, Yumi had kind of been assuming that stuff was possibly what brought Jaz back, but if she was just busy and finally decided to come back in the third year she wasn’t exactly gonna complain. It was nice to have her back afterall. She did let out a little chuckle though as she said its best not to question how men make money, shaking her head. “Yeah, I don’t see him ever getting into anything shady without INSTANTLY being arrested. Like he’d consider doing something illegal, and boom, jail.”
As Jasmine emphasized she didn’t think it was creepy, Yumi gave a nervous- “Really?” With a tilt of her head. She always worried looking back it was kinda… stalkery, they weren’t a couple at the time afterall and… as nice as it had been just to be wrapped up in Red’s cozy shit with his warmth and just… him-ness or whatever it was… ugh. She had conflicted feelings about it. In an anime sense it felt like the cutest shit, but if Red hadn’t found it cute too then… it could have came out really creepy. “Y-yeah even when I woke up he seemed more stunned than me somehow… and he’d apparently been listening to me sleep talk for like, a minute or two, so you can imagine the sorta shit sleep Yumi had been getting away with.” She let out a nervous chuckle, but nodded along as Jaz emphasized she wasn’t gonna pry into the deeper details. As Jaz got quiet, so did Yumi, she could tell Jaz seemed to be building up to something, like words at the edge of her lips, and so the red head gave her the time she needed, pulling her legs onto the couch and letting out a slow breath through her nose as she gave Jaz time to process whatever was on her mind before finally letting it out…and when she let it out, she did her the courtesy of just listening. No more Rin huh? That… that was kind of a shame. Yumi never really had strong feelings towards Rin. She’d came off kinda snooty to the red head but maybe that was just all the bad rumors flying around at the time. She did know that Rin coming into play, and her own poly nature not meshing well with Jaz at the time were why she never had a more intimate relationship with the blonde, but really she held no ill will there in the slightest. She’d have rather Jaz been happy with whoever than just having fun with her or anything…
Still, it was sad to hear Rin was just… gone. Even if Yumi had no personal connection to them really.
When Jaz voiced her fears of what the reality could be no less… Yumi was left unsure what to say. She felt she didn’t have the full picture here, she had no idea what had lead to Jaz getting herself into a coma or what she meant by being in over their heads but… as she let out her fears Yumi broke the distance between them on the couch, wrapping her arms around Jaz and clutching to the back of her clothes a little tight. It quietly dawned on her she maybe should have had these same worries. She missed Jaz when she left but her brain, as paranoid as it could sometimes be just… rationalized it all away. Jaz was a tough soul, this bad shit couldn’t happen to her. She just… went away. That was all but… the bad shit did happen and now Yumi was left with an odd tightness in her chest, a mix of regret and guilt over not being worried and all that she’d missed.
“…I’m sure she’s fine you know… top UA student for a while right? Who could bring her down…”

As Jasmine spoke about what was worrying her her mind had decided to start playing tricks on her without her consent. Vivid images of the year she'd spent in the states starter coming to her in droves, painting various pictures from her that smothered her to the point it felt like she was drowning. Part of her was beginning to find it hard to breathe but whether or not she actually showed it through her cold as a winter's night exterior was up for debate. It hadn't ended there either. The more Jasmine spoke, the more of her worries she tapped into and voiced, the harsher the images became. It hadn't been long until the pictures felt like they became far too real. Almost as though they had begun to move and breathe, and breathe a life of their own.
She'd begun to feel like she was suffocating in her own skin and she hated it. Anxiety had begun choking the life out of her, bringing an ever aching pain in her chest out to the forefront and making it ten times worse. The images, stale at first, had translated into a black and white movie with no audio, stuttering with film grain as though it was a horror flick. Her body had tensed, her muscles hard and contracting ever so slightly as she fought to breathe... yet nothing of the internal battle within the lone wolf would ever be noticed, not even by the ones closest to her.
Not again. She wouldn't have people worry over someone like her who wasn't worth a dime.
Yumi's arms around her had come at a bit of a surprise to the ashen-haired female, so much so that the images had become blurry. Worrying about what might have happened to her loved one had soon begun manifesting into real images inside her mind and it was Yumi's warmth, spreading gradually around the wolf, that was now slowly burning away at the image. The tense sight of the little Raven's mangled body had begun to be swallowed up by a light she couldn't even look at directly but felt with her very core. Slowly, very slowly, Jasmine was inching back to reality, grasping at the outstretched arms calling for her to come back.
And come back she did.
It took her a few moments, but one of Jasmine's hands raised to gently grasp at Yumi's forearm. Her face nuzzled into the embrace as she curled up into a small ball, trying to make it so each and every part of her had easier access to the warmth that the redhead was sharing with her. Her words rung out in Jasmine's mind, bouncing around the confines of her mind up until they started to finally make sense. She'd been silent for a while now, just... collecting herself. Trying to rearrange her thoughts to the point like it didn't seem like only doom and gloom waited for her further down the line.
Half-forced yet half-earned, Jasmine managed to smile weakly as she felt the mere yet bright presence of her friend consoling her, her voice and words like a summer's song in a deaf and dark winter forest. "Yeah..." she said, her voice somewhat hollow, yet still possessing enough life in it to come across as convincing.
"...You're right..." she then added, seeming further and further back in control. "Rin's never really been weak, has she?..." Jasmine was slow and deliberate with how she choose and enunciated her words, almost as though she was trying to convince herself. "...even without me there, she'll be fine, right?..."
She sat there, in a moment of silence with her eyes closed. Her brows furrowed for just a split second as she felt a searing hot stab of pain from the scar on her face; as though the testament of one of her failures was staring her dead in the face, mocking her. "...God I hate this. Being this... this..." she was now slowly going through the stages, albeit not in the correct order. Denial she'd gone through before and likely still was. Or, at least, some part of her was. Now it was anger's turn. "...this weak..."
A hollow chuckle left the lass, seeming both humorless and ironic, all at the same time. "Sorry, Yums. I know we're here to catch up, but I really shouldn't bother you with this crap. Thanks... y'know. For trying to make me feel better. I really appreciate it," she finally turned to lock eyes with the redhead, gently pulling her arms away from herself, yet still holding her warm hands in her own cold ones - part of her even wondered if Yumi'd notice Jasmine's hands being cold. Jasmine, whose body temperature was always higher than other peoples' because of how her quirk worked. She really hoped she didn't. She really didn't want her friend to worry about actually how malnourished she was.
She leaned up and forward towards the redhead and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. Yet again she was slow, deliberate, every move she made was accentuated and pronounced... hell, her hands had probably even grown a little warmer from the contact alone. A tad later she leaned back, yet her emerald greens still maintained eye-contact with the girl. "Thanks. For worrying. For staying my friend. I really..." she paused, smiling as she looked away. Chuckling nervously.
"I really needed to know that I still have friends here."
