A lot can be said about coming back to a place you once felt a part of. So many memories in such a short span of time was enough to drive anybody to madness, and it was gradually becoming more and more difficult to focus. Jasmine struggled to put into words how much she felt by just being here, in Tokyo, where life was going by just like it always was. Her now emerald green eyes took in the sights almost uneasily from behind the windshield of the cab, curiously watching the faces of the people, taking note of the differences between them. She couldn’t help but compare it to what she once considered home - New York. Yeah, once. No longer, though. That place had too many broken promises and shattered dreams for Jasmine to ever feel comfortable about where she was from again. Her home… she didn’t have a home. Not anymore. A soft breath touched the edges of Jasmine’s lips as the driver stopped next to the now ashen-haired girl’s destination. Jasmine pulled her far too light wallet out of her worn leather jacket’s inner pocket, only to grimace when she realized she barely had enough to cover the taxi fare. With one look at the female’s face the driver got suspicious, yet said nothing. He didn’t need to say anything. The young American lass felt it, like she had so many times in the past. Her old self might have called the driver out on it. The current Jasmine didn’t have the strength to. Giving up her last sliver of money, Jasmine clambered out of the vehicle and pulled her one and only rucksack from the back. All of her things - as few of them as remained - neatly packed in the smallest container the girl had actually ever had. As she glanced at what remained of her belongings, she could only muster a bittersweet smile while her head dangled low. She had finally hit rock bottom and had nowhere else to turn to. When her head finally rose and emerald greens were greeted by a vibrant red screaming Red Horn, Jasmine knew it was finally time to pay the piper. Hoisting her rucksack over her shoulder carefully, Jasmine shoved her hands into her jacket. Her old black combat boots smacked against the ground as she marched across the street towards the building, her head of ashen-hair hidden behind the bordo hood of her sweater. Her dark-grey jeans were torn in several places, yet with today’s fashion sense it was probably seen as some kind of a statement rather than her being too broke to buy new jeans. Well, she managed to keep them relatively tidy so it’s not like anybody could really tell the difference anyway. Time felt like it was moving a hundred miles a minute as Jasmine found herself in front of Mia’s door. The girl couldn’t help but bite her lower lip as she raised her hand to ring the doorbell, yet hesitated for the briefest of moments. She frowned; doubting herself for what felt like the fiftieth time today alone. Would Mia really be happy seeing her? Hell, would she even recognize her? She’d been gone for over a year with no news at all - just up and left one day, abandoning everybody like they never mattered… Jasmine even thought that some small vacant part of her own mind actually thought like that. She sighed again; there was going to be a lot of those thoughts, wasn’t there? Nothing was ever as easy as she wanted it to be. Finally collecting herself, Jasmine steeled her resolve and pushed the damn doorbell. No use sulking. Move on, Jaz, she urged herself, her dim greens momentarily brightening, if only for the briefest of flashes. ---------- Mia Kearney || WC: 629

Mia held a smile on her lips as she tried to live in the moment. She kinda had to given all the shit going wrong lately. Nimue was supposedly working on what the fuck might be wrong with her, but when Mia heard that she’d been working on some damn vaccine for that Marine shit she suddenly didn’t think testing her own blood was a priority here… still. Time would tell. In the mean time the hero association and the government had been keeping a closer eye on her since her collateral damage rates had been skyrocketing. No civilian injuries thankfully but the costs she had to cover for damages to the local infrastructure… yeeeeah… that weird hero insurance they gave her would only cover so much, and apparently, they only had so much patience for it.
Starting the next school year she’d be being pulled off the front lines where she belonged and pushed into… ugh. Teaching. And not even the fun class. She’d heard the only stand out in the ‘A’ class was that stuck up Steel Samurai Tetsuko…ugh.
Just… back in the present. Mia had a fair dozen beers in her which was just enough for a light buzz thanks to her quirk, and a rather sensual woman draping their arms around her, leaning back into the bed as they straddled her and holding a cheeky grin as one of her hands glided up their waist, watching them as they just subtly shifted every closer, their breaths mixing in the moment.
“Soooo… not been seeing you on the street lately Red Horn… got a secret mission you wanna share…?~ I’m a great listener…~”
Any other time Mia might have been happy to make something up, but she almost winced at the topic being brought up between them. “Let’s er.. not talk about that huh? Besides you probably just not been hanging out in the shadier parts of town… though the look’ o you I’ve definitely got plenty of reasons to consider you a ‘person of interest’.” She teased with a low growl between her tusks, suddenly rolling the two of them over and placing the sensual woman on her back, gliding a hind up their thigh and brushing at the edge of their skirt as Mia started to crawl over them, her re-infroced bed still squeaking a little under the weight of her muscles as she bulked up ever so faintly. “But let’s see if you can keep my in-“
Dwing-Dwong!
“…Oh you gotta be fucking…” Mia Groaned deeply, falling onto her horn beside her partner for the night and letting out a frustrated sigh of defeat. “Look I… I am real sorry but ya know how it is this could-“
The woman put a finger to her lips, smirking a little and leaning up to kiss the Oni’s cheek. “Don’t worry about it… hero like you’s always gonna be busy… just lemme know if I gotta go so I can leave with some dignity.~” She flashed a wink, Mia getting the impression she’d happily return another night if she had to… god she needed a woman like this to help her just, sink into the present. At least for a while.
“… I’ll do my best to make sure you don’t have to.~” Sharing a lingering kiss, she pulled back away off the bed and turned about to head towards the stairs, dropping down into the first floor of her two floor apartment, decorated like an office space with a few glass walls separating key points like a waiting room and an actual desk. It never saw any real use but, hey it was here if she needed it.
She reached to open the door, pausing as she realized she was a little… dressed down, looking back to the floor and tugging a white tank top over her torso, arms hooked into a loose flannel shirt, hair still a bit mussy as she finally answered the door to find…
Some homeless looking kid.
“… Er. Hey.” She began, keeping a hand on the door but opening it up a bit more to get a better look at the kid, glancing them up and down as she tried to get an idea of what they might want. They didn’t look lost or anything… seemed kinda familiar… maybe.. “Hey er… look sorry if you’re some C.I or something with a lead I ain’t exactly in a position to take a report or something…”

The moment the doorbell rang Jaz couldn’t help but freeze in her singular spot. Her head was lowered to the point of being flat against the floor. The ashen-blonde shivered in her step as though it felt like what was left of her world was darkening around her. Seconds turned to minutes, minutes to hours and hours to day. This wait was killing her and it was painfully apparent in the slight shiver that ran down Jasmine’s spine when she heard the first semblances of Mia’s footsteps. Thump, she heard. Thump. Thump. Thump. God that Oni was heavy. She’d forgotten exactly how large Red Horn was. In the past year the only time she’d seen Japan’s number one Hero was on TV, as menacing as ever. The last time the two women actually saw each other was when they were sparring-fighting out in the forest way back when, and fuck was that beast of a woman strong. She could still feel the aftermath of her fist hitting Jasmine square across the face. The idea of how pissed Mia might be at Jaz for not staying in contact for so long actually made the younger lass tremble in her spot. The door finally opened after what felt like a small eternity. For the briefest of moments Jasmine hesitated, refusing to lift her head and look up at the large woman. Her voice startled the ex-student-in-training, forcing her out of her stupor to look up at the bulky woman. Emerald greens shone from below her bordo hood as a few strands of unkempt and dirty ashen hair snuck out. Jasmine’s lips were pursed as she looked the Oni in the face, expecting a beatdown of cosmic proportions.. ...a beatdown that never came, admittedly. Blinking almost dumbly, Jasmine stared Mia dead in the face. To be perfectly fair she probably shouldn’t blame the Pro Hero for not recognizing her - barely anybody did, which was both a blessing and a curse in disguise at the same time. Yet, some part of Jasmine actually took offense to it. Whatever hesitation she might’ve had in her mind was quickly washed away by the sinister mischief that so very often surfaced from within her whenever she and Mia went at it. The briefest and smallest of smiles pulled at Jasmine’s lips, curving them upwards. Slowly, carefully, almost as though she had all the time in the world, Jasmine raised her right hand, her palm open as sparks crackled in between her fingers. Emerald turned to crimson as she swiped said hand forward in such a quick motion that the unguarded - and clearly buzzed, judging by her odor - Oni wouldn’t know what hit her. Boom. The blast sounded off in the whole building, yet was concentrated enough to not cause any collateral damage to Mia’s property. Instead, it focused on slamming the Pro Hero back on her drunk ass and, much to Jasmine’s delight, managed to accomplish just that. The once mighty lioness chuckled to herself as the Oni was knocked back almost helplessly. Truly not a morning she was expecting, Jasmine reckoned. In just but a moment Jasmine casually strolled in a few steps inside the large apartment, her rucksack still over her shoulder as she pulled her hood down and let her ashen hair flow down freely onto her shoulders. The next time Jasmine made eye-contact with Mia, the Pro Hero would notice the unmistakable eyes of one lioness-turned-lone-wolf. The fire in her eyes wasn’t as bright as it once was, but it was still a piercing gaze that would make any who stood in her way think twice about facing her. Jasmine smiled warmly at Mia as she stood over her, offering a hand to help the older woman stand up, “You can’t tell me you didn’t recognize that, Horny.” ----------

Mia quirked her brow as she spotted the girl moving oddly rearing an arm back and their expression shifting to something more mischievious. If she’d not had a bit of a buzz on right now her instincts woulda kicked in and this girl would have found themselves creating a new hole in the wall with their spine. In this case though the flash of Red in her eyes was just starting to register in Mia’s brain when the palm reached out towards her face, her own eyes widening as a brief spark ignited in their skin and-
Boom indeed.
The door burst open and Mia’s whole body managed a single roll before falling onto her back, a thick layer of explosive smoke covering her face for a moment before her paw of a hand dragged across, leaving a smeared cleaning effect, still smokey by all means but able to see without their eyes stinging from the fumes clinging to their face. Briefly anger flashes in their eyes, and Mia was thankful for the alcohol in her system or she might have started turning Red herself right then and there. She looked up to the girl with that sensation of rage building, maybe about ready to break the barrier… she could feel her skin drying up around her furrowed brow, about to turn leathery and Red…
“Can’t tell me you Didn’t recognize that, Horny.”
“…” Mia’s brow lingered in an angry expression for a moment, but with the red eyes and the image of it burned into her mind with her hair still in her hood… holy shit… she was taking a clear moment to process this, but suddenly their look of confusion returned to one of rage. With surprising speed for their size, she reared up, grasping Jaz’s calve and wrenching them across the room behind them, slamming the ashen blonde into the floor and pinning them with a knee on their stomache and a hand over their throat. A fist reared back tight, her tusks growing up above her top lip as veins pulsed throughout her reared arm.
WHAM.
Her fist landed heavily beside Jaz’s head, the impact hard enough to crack the wooden flooring and loud enough Jaz might have a light ringing in their ears, but Mia’s look of rage was slowly turning to an ecstatic grin, wrenching Jaz up into her arms and squeezing her so tight it probably hurt a little.
“You fuckin’ bombshell where the fuck you been!?~” Even with her words, it was clear she was ecstatic to see her.

Standing still with her hand outstretched, Jasmine’s eyes watched Mia keenly. The crimson fire in her eyes was slowly receding, gradually morphing back into her newly acquired emerald green… dim, yet bright at the same time. Once again it felt like time had slowed as the ashen-blonde lass observed Mia, taking note of how much the bulkier female had changed. Well, changed in some areas. Some definitely stayed the same. Like, imagine the stench inside a liquor store if you poured all of the booze out and let it to stove there with no ventilation and all the windows closed. Yeah, that kind of stench. Then again Jasmine really wasn’t going to ask how the woman was still standing.
Probably cause she isn’t, dumbass. Right… The ex-student-in-training was very privy to the many expressions changing Mia’s face, seemingly going through so many emotions one at a time. First? Confusion. Second? Anger. Fuck, no that looked like utter rage. Jaz got a little scared there. Then? More confusion. Slight recognition. Ah, that’s the ticket. Jasmine’s smile grew a little. But then? Yeah, then came anger again. Only this time it was clearly a little playful than the I’m going to murder your whole fucking ancestry type of anger that Mia initially showed her. Honestly Jaz didn’t even make any attempt to try to avoid what was coming. She probably could avoid it. Maybe. Probably? Eh, who the fuck knows, Mia’s a fucking powerhouse even when she’s drunk out of her gourd. All Jasmine did was smile as and laugh as Mia tossed her like a ragdoll across the room, gasping for air when her back hit the ground - pretty fucking painfully. A knee in her gut and hard fingers around her throat. Yup. This hurt. Probably wasn’t the best idea to greet the number one Pro Hero the way she did, especially knowing how violent Red Horn could get. Oh fuck. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. That fucking knee hurts. Ow. Oh fuck. I’m going to die. Shi- The fist slammed into the ground besides Jaz, crippling the floorboards beneath them with a loud and violent thud. Fuck the impact itself actually made Jaz’s ears ring and the actual fucking shockwave made her head spin. Jaz couldn’t even register Mia’s words too well - though she understood the gist of them - before she was tackled into a monstrous bear hug that knocked the air out of her - again! Yet it didn’t take long for Jaz to loosen up. She felt herself relax a little, feeling the familiar warmth of Mia and her assertive nature. For once - just fucking once - she’d let her guard down, if only for a moment. The smile from before returned to Jasmine’s pale face as she herself wrapped her arms around Mia - or, well tried to. This woman was ungodly humongous. “It’s one long fucking story…” Jaz murmured through a sigh, yet the smile on her face and the tone of her voice clearly betrayed the fact that she was indeed happy she was back. “So, are you gonna give a girl a drink so she can tell you where the fuck she’s been, or did you drink everything by yourself already, you damn alien?”

Mia gave Jaz just one last firm squeeze in her arms, probably enough that the girl might have felt like something was about to pop into a place it shouldn’t before easing up the tension. In her current state Mia was quite literally forgetting her own strenght, both due to the drink and knowing how fucking much Jaz could take. One of the few kids who just… GOT HER! God fucking dammit she couldn’t even really process this. She missed Jaz since the day she vanished, maybe way more than she probably should have and just… ah fuck she needed this. Some good news. This was just… fucking hell she needed this.
“Aye aye I just…” She eased out of the hug, resting a hand on Jaz’s shoulder as she crouched before her, a lax grin on her features as she just took in her face… eyes and hair were different but… yeah. This was Jaz. She gave her shoulder a firm jab as she let her go, almost enough to knock her back down as Mia gave a more hearty grin. “I’d love to. Let me just...er…”
Mia’s eyes lifted up, spotting the half dressed woman coming down the stairs… well actually, she was fully dressed, but the way her shirt was hanging out of her pencil skirt and the buttons undone and… the clearly undone pin-up, her hair flowing down like she’d had it curled up in a bun all day or something. “Er… hey. Sorry I er…” She looked back to Jaz, scoffing a little at the timing of this all. “This… this is one of my interns…” She lied… kinda. Even before internships were a thing Mia had totally taken Jaz on board with that shit in an unofficial capacity.
“Oh I… see. Did she need something?” The woman asked a little concerned, glancing to the cracked flooring and the… smokey face of the woman who had just been in the bedroom with her. Mia’s ecstatic grin was now turning to the mildest form of panic, looking to Jaz kinda hoping they could help with an explanation here. Normally Mia might have just been pretty straight forward, it was her MO. ‘Hey sorry i forgot about ya but this kid i beat the shit out of for mutual fun dropped by and i ain’t seen her in a year so we tried to kill eachother for a sec’... somehow her drunk brain didn’t think wording it like that was the best idea.

"Ow, my ribs..." Jaz groaned out as her face was starting to redden from the bear hug she had found herself trapped in courtesy of Red Horn. Jasmine could take a lot of abuse, that was an undeniable fact of her whole goddamn existence, but even she sometimes struggled with how strong Mia was. Especially now with how Jasmine seemed like something of a withered husk of what she previously was. A little taller, to be sure, but at the same time scrawnier. Her strength, stamina and durability and all that other nice stuff she had killed herself a dozen times over to train was still very much there, yet she still wasn't exactly in the peak performance condition that she had been in prior to leaving Japan, regardless of growing both in age and her more... physical attributes.
AKA she had the ass of a champion. That hadn't changed to this day. As far as Jasmine was concerned, that wasn't going to change at all, ever.
But anyway.
Because of Jasmine's slight drop off in her physical preparation, the jab to her shoulder was in fact enough to knock her back down on her ass, if not because she had gotten a little distracted by the sound of approaching footsteps from up above. As it turns out, Mia had company, and when she saw exactly what kind of company, the ashen-haired lass couldn't help the knowing grin that spread over her face as she shook her head, "Some things don't ever change," she murmured, fairly certain that the Pro Hero could hear her.
Her legs crossed and elbows on her knees, Jasmine glanced up to briefly stare at the woman that was walking down the stairs. Honestly with the way she was dressed - which was honestly the minimal amount of clothing, let's not kid ourselves - Jasmine's stare could in no meek way be considered borderline gawking. The younger girl was just about to introduce herself when Mia spoke up for her. The ashen-haired teen blinked. Once. Twice. Thrice... before she turned to regard Mia.
Holy fuck. No way.
You know, she honestly tried to suppress her laughter. For the briefest of moments Jasmine Noir gave her best to try to beat down the hilarity of the whole situation with thoughts of kittens and puppies being violently murdered and all that other really nasty stuff. Yet... yeah, that clearly didn't work out. Rearing her head back, Jasmine practically guffawed before falling back on her back, finding this whole situation amusing beyond any recognizable belief.
"Bwahahaha!... I honestly never... I couldn't ever picture you with a face like that on, Christ... HAH!" She held her side as she laughed while lying flat on the floor. It took her a few moments to get her bearings back, but the ashen-haired lass pointed her keen and sharp emerald orbs at Mia's new mistress, "Hi! Name's Jasmine. I'm one of Horny's old... students, I guess you could say. Interns, yeah. Before internship was even a thing. I haven't been in Japan for well over a year and I figured I'd pop in to say hello," the younger girl explained, conveniently leaving out the part where she was in such shit she actually had nowhere else to go. "Please don't blame Mia here for the floor or... messed up face. Heh. Entirely my fault."
Groaning a little to get the kinks out, Jasmine hopped up back on her feet and turned to regard the Pro Hero, "It was really nice to see you, Horny. I kinda need to talk to you about something but it seems like I arrived at a bad time. I'll go mess around in town, see what's changed since I left, and come back a little later. Mind if I leave my bag with you?" ----------

Mia’s own expression dipped into mild frustration as Jaz seemed to be having the time of her life with all this. At first just looking at Mia as if to say this wasn’t even a surprise for the Oni to have concocted a scene like this, but when Mia even tried to look to her for a little help explaining the situation Jaz just fucking dropped into a full on chuckle fit, leaving Mia’s shoulders to sag with a frustrated glare bordering on an eye twitch, letting out a heavy sigh through her nose as she glanced back towards the woman lingering by the stares, mouthing ‘sorry about this’ as Jaz finished up their chuckle.
Of course, ever a kindred soul Jaz did end up helping the buzzed beast out a bit, explaining things just as bluntly but with a charm Mia maybe couldn’t manage in her current state, the Oni rising to her feet and offering a hand to Jaz to help her up to her own feet if she needed it, running a free hand against the back of her neck. “Er… yeah. Wouldn’t say its ALL her fault but she er… definitely set those domino’s in motion… besides I know a guy. I got a fucking hole in my wall last year-“ They were notably like 15-20 floors up. “Fixed it right up. Cracked floor won’t be nothing to ‘em.” She smirked a little, genuinely showing no worry about any of the damage as she cracked a grin.
“Oh well… I wouldn’t wanna intrude if you two know eachother well… “ The woman had idly begun to tuck her shirt back into her pencil skirt, Mia more than ready to ask her to come back another day given, ya know, it was fucking Jaz who’d dropped by of all people, but as Jaz themselves offered up that they’d be the ones dropping back later, the woman seemed a little unsure if she should be leaving, both now looking to Mia to make the decision.
“Er… I mean you sure? I wouldn’t wanna er… turn you away or anything?” Mia’d just check at first, and if Jaz seemed certain Mia would nod along, taking her bag off her. “Alright then. I’ll put it somewhere safe for ya. Just er… gimme… “ She tried to think of a time frame that wouldn’t be too insulting to either party here, but her guest spoke up for her with an odd confidence.
“Don’t worry I shouldn’t last an hour.” She winked with a teasing smirk, making Mia actually blush a little in her current state, both at the compliment and the idea of this woman just… melting.
“Er… give us two. I need to make sure she can walk again once I’m done.” She finished with a cheeky smirk, not feeling like either party really needed to hide what was going on here, or, what was about to go down at the end of the day. “You er… good? I mean no offense but the state of ya… I can lend you my card for a bit? Or is that a fashion choice?” Her buzzed brain not really knowing how to shut up on what could be an offensive assumption.

Snorting, Jaz held up an 'ok' sign with her fingers as though to motion that she got this. She stayed relatively quiet during the exchange between Mia and her new consort, decidedly keeping quiet out of the conversation and letting the two women decide among themselves what they wanted to do. Beyond being a little malnourished, the ashen-haired lass wasn't in any hurry. She'd been wanting to roam around a little where nobody knew who she was and where she wouldn't get any awkward stares. Japan probably wasn't entirely that, of course, what with the color of Jasmine's hair and her being taller than mostly any pedestrian she'd come across, but it was definitely better than what had been happening in her neighborhood back in NYC the past couple of weeks before her coming back.
She couldn't hold back her laughter again when the woman offered just an hour for the two of them to finish their... business. The American couldn't lie - she wished she took a picture of Mia's face at that particular point. Though with how Mia was she'd likely break Jasmine's phone and that thing was already barely working as is, cracked screen and all.
Jasmine offered a salute as she handed off her bag, "Yeah. No worries. Y'all can take your time, I'll be around," she said as she began walking off, waving as she retreated. "Nah, I should be good for a little while... actually, if you could order some pizza or something for later, that'd be pretty sweet. You got my number. Lemme know when you two are done bumping uglies and I'll come 'round."
Noticing the last of her words, Jasmine turned over her shoulder to regard Mia, a small smile on her face. "Like I said, Horny. It's a long fuckin' story. I'll tell you about it later. Don't mind me. Go. Enjoy yourself. I'm not disappearing this time around."
With that being said, Jasmine waved one more time - also displaying one hell of a go get 'er tiger grin and thumbs up - and bolted out the door, closing it behind her.
Standing in the stairwell, she sighed to herself, "Eh, might as well visit the park first."

“Oof. Bumpin’ uglies? I’d say I remember when you had class but-“ She smirked with a bit of cheek to her, shaking her head and just enjoying having Jaz’s presence, again, letting out a low sigh as she said she’d be around and Mia just had to call when she was done. Honestly she hadn’t believed that number would still work over the past year so she hadn’t really tried it beyond a couple of times. Maybe she just got some poor timing when the line was dead or something. Who knows. Whatever the case… it was just good she was back.
“Yeah don’t worry… we got all night. Ya know. Minus the next two hours…” She glanced back to the woman by the stairs, the two of them sharing an idle smirk as Mia let out in a clearly joking tone. “Maybe 3.~” She added with a sly smile, but shot Jaz a quick look that hopefully showed she wasn’t being serious. As fun a night as she’d already had planned, she was more than eager to get some of Jaz’s time too, catch up with her, hear what had happened with her… yeah. She was looking forward to that…~
Mia chuckled at the thumbs up and turned to start heading towards the stairs, giving her woman a firm tap on that luscious little backside on their way back up… though she did pause for at least a moment to grab her phone, idly texting Jaz’s old number. She trusted the kid as much as anyone but. Well. She had to at least be sure. Just sending a ‘just making sure this works’ back down the line. Even if all she got back was a buzz and a thumbs up emoji, that was enough for her, tossing her phone aside as she clambered back over this delicious little meal she had before her.
Roughly 2 and a half hours later…
Mia had called Jaz a while ago to let them know the place was free. The woman was right, with Mia’s ‘reputation’ they hadn’t lasted much more than an hour, and with a bit of gentle ‘aftercare’ Mia had sent them on their way with steady enough legs to make their way back down the stairs, slipping a piece of paper with their number on it into their office desk downstairs, and calling for a pizza once she knew Jaz was on her way. The Pizza had gotten their first, two pizzas with hefty meat toppings and cheesey crusts, one with a barbecue sauce base, the other normal tomato. And a third pizza with whatever Jaz had been wanting. Maybe it was pineapple. Mia wouldn’t judge… much.
She’d sent Jaz an extra text telling her the door was unlocked and to just put the latch on behind her when she came in. The downstairs office space was as empty as ever, and Mia was waiting in her livingroom upstairs, sinking into the middle of their couch as they eased open the top of a pizza box, just growling happily as they took in the thick, steamy, cheesy scent with mixes of the cooked pepperoni, chicken, beef, and any other meet toppings she could convince them to put on the damn things. “Aaaaah… its no cooked breakfast but it’s a damn fine post action snack…~”

Her hands shoved in the pockets of her jacket, Jasmine had been squeezing her arms close to her body as she walked around the park, strolling around neither here nor there. It had become something of a habit for the ashen-haired lass ever since she woke up from the coma she'd been under in New York. A kind of... defense mechanism, if you will. One that she didn't even realize she had, instinctively shielding herself from the outside world. Hood up, head down, hands in her pockets, steps so small they were almost timid. With her posture, the air around her and how pale she was, most would think she looked homeless... if not a downright crack addict.
She sighed to herself as she thought about it. Memories kept coming to her left and right the more of Tokyo she explored, going from the park to Downtown Tokyo. Minato. Shibuya. Shinjuku. Chiyoda. She couldn't tell you how many places she'd walked through without even realizing it, despite having her bright emeralds overanalyzing every single thing they came across. Despite how careful and slow her step seemed, she had managed to cover quite the distance without even knowing it herself. Quite a few people looked at her quite awkwardly, almost as though they were scared of her. Some even moved out of her way, suspicious of her intentions. She couldn't really blame them though.
It didn't take too long for Mia to get back to her, though at this point Jasmine didn't really know where the fuck she was. She tried asking, but, well... as mentioned before, people didn't really feel like talking to the ashen-haired lass - a strange sight to behold, that was for sure... even in a world where anything you could possibly imagine might one day manifest through a quirk or two. The irony of life.
When she finally figured out that she had somehow strolled back to Shinjuku, the lone wolf made a beeline towards Shinjuku station after punching in a reply for Mia and hopped on the first train headed towards Red Horn's, obviously dodging the fare as she was unfortunately flat out broke. Twenty or so minutes later and Jaz found herself back at Mia's door. She figured to knock, but, well, since the Pro herself gave her the green light the ex-student simply let herself in without much of a fuss. She locked the door behind her, kicked off her combat boots and slipped out of her jacket, hoisting it on her shoulder.
"Yo. Aw man I'm fucking starving!" Yaz exclaimed as she entered the living room and tossed her worn jacket on the couch. Plopping down, Jaz opened the box up - an Acapulco pizza with lots of cheese, peppers, mince, Chipotle sauce and extra bacon on top as a side. Jaz couldn't remember the last time food looked so fucking delicious. She'd immediately dug in as though she hadn't eaten for days.
Though with little food consumption (and some depression sprinkled on top for good measure) always comes that annoying thing called a light stomach. Jasmine was now physically unable to eat as much as she used to, which sucked considering food was the actual gas to the engine that was her quirk. She'd left about half of the pizza behind - something to keep her going for later, she figured. The ashen haired lass chugged down on some coke and later burped into her hand before fully leaning back into the couch, groaning in utter bliss.
"Fuck I needed that," she said to nobody in particular before turning to Mia. "Thanks. The pizza was fuckin' great." She said, offering the Pro a small grin. A brief pause followed... until said grin turned into a knowing smirk. "So, that bird's one to stay or just a passing fling?"

Hearing the door open downstairs, Mia didn’t feel so bad peeling back a slice of the pizza way from the rest and starting to chow down. She’d calmed down a bit so her tusks were far less prominent, only a glint of them as she opened her maw for a bite before chowing down into the meal before her. Jaz seemed to have the same idea, as she got only a passing ‘yo’ before the ashen haired woman sat down and dug into her own pizza, chuckling a little as she dug in without any more words between them. Fair enough. Mia wasn’t eating at the same pace but with her size and the bites she could take, she’d gotten down about half a pizza too by the time Jaz seemed to be resting their stomache, continuing at a fair pace even as they spoke, sometimes having to slurp up some melted cheese before it dropped onto the floor or something.
“Geeze. Think you hadn’t eaten for weeks… don’t think even that girl looked as satisfied as you do now, and that’s saying something!~” She chuckled out with a hearty grin, definitely glad to see Jaz pretty happy with her meal as she continued to chow into her own, easing back a little into the couch. It creaked for a moment thanks to her weight, but that was mostly the metal bars within it shifting, the whole frame a lot more ‘heavy duty’ than your typical furniture.
At the question of the woman, Mia glanced across and shrugged. “Passing fling. We might give it a few more rounds but she’s smart enough to have called it out from the start. She’s cool with it though… good woman.” She idly commented with a light smile. It was always a small delight to find a girl who just ‘knew the game’ so to speak. “Anyway though. You.” She placed down her slice atop the box she hadn’t started yet, dusting off her hands before folding her arms as she leaned across. “You gonna explain where the fuck you been for the past year or do I get the pleasure of having to beat that outta ya someday?~”
She held a strong grin, clearly just messing with her. Sure they’d fight someday, but not over this dumb shit. If Jaz wanted to share, Mia would listen, if not, the blonde had no reason to pry. Jaz was an independent soul much like herself, and if she had her story to keep to herself, Mia weren’t gonna force it from her.

Jasmine just snorted at Mia's comment with some bitter amusement. She knew the larger woman would ask where she'd been all this time so she figured she'd save her reply for when that happened. Instead, she just sat on the couch, for once enjoying a moment of peace and quiet and... safety. For once, the ashen-haired lass had felt completely safe. Not many would really dare to try to get her when she was with the number one Hero, after all. Even her fractured psyche understood that much and was actually at peace with it, strangely enough. Usually logic couldn't overpower that sinking fear she always carried with her in her chest.
A small smile came over Mia when she mentioned her current partner, labeling her a 'good woman.' "Yeah, sounds like one," Jasmine responded, mind inadvertently wandering to another good woman she had known very intimately. A certain little Raven. The image still popped up here and again, over and over, seemingly in slow motion, wrapping around her like a cold winter breeze and crashing against her like midsummer rain all at the same time.
Mia wasn't exactly subtle with the way she approached things, regardless of whether they may be sensitive or not. It was one of the things she appreciated about the Pro Hero. It was also one of the things that she herself did so it was actually like a breath of fresh air when the few people who actually cared didn't treat her like she was somehow broken. Even if she was, she was more than capable of taking care of herself.
The ashen-haired lass hummed at the question as she tilted her head back to stare at the dark ceiling above, "Huh. Where do I even start..."
"It was last Spring Break when everything started. I was going back home to New York for Spring break with Rin. My... girlfriend... at the time. Think I told you I was going on a small break from all the hero stuff. Well, it wasn't exactly for a break. One of my friends was in some shit and I was going there to help. Rin really wanted to come with despite me trying to tell her to stay away. She was... worried about me. In hindsight, she wasn't wrong to be worried. She was... a good woman, too."
She shook her head, "Anyway, we went there, spent a couple of days like normal girls. Y'know, TV, pizza, fucking around in bed, then the shower, then the kitchen, then the living room, then the shower again... y'know. Everywhere. Like normal teenagers. It was great. Feeling like a normal kid. Not someone who can accidentally cause an act of terrorism. And then, well. Then we got into the nitty gritty of the shit my guy had gotten himself into. And it was... it was bad, Mia. Super fucking bad."
"I'll spare you too many of the details cause they don't matter anymore, but... he was involved with the Russian mafia. Now with all of this hero crap popping up here and there they've managed to get quite a few able Quirkers on their side. If you're at all involved with the crime syndicate over there, you know they're trouble. It's why I got out two years ago. Why I came to Japan in the first place. They're... kind of the reason I'm even alive."
"So my friend was in bad, I thought I'd help. It wasn't until I was actually there that I found out how bad it really was. I couldn't get out of it anymore. They wanted what I owed them - my life, and they weren't above fucking with my friends to get it. I had to help them out. Do some shady deals for them. Be a bodyguard. An enforcer. A debt collector. Whenever they needed cheap expendable muscle, they'd send me, and the shit they made me did was sick. Even when I worked for them, they were fucking horrible. There was alcohol. There were drugs. There was all kinds of shit I did just go get myself through it, thinking it'd end sooner or later. I did it for a while but once you're with them you can't really get out. I said fuck that... and that was probably my biggest mistake. They took my friends from me, one by one. They tried to take Rin, too... but we escaped. Went into hiding. Couldn't exactly get out of the city with how much pull they have. Couldn't even use a damn phone with some of these quirks being able to track fucking phone reception. Going to Pro Heroes wasn't going to do jack shit either. They'd've gotten us before we even made contact. In the end... in the end it didn't even fucking matter. They found us anyway."
It was then that Jasmine paused as she leaned forward, elbows resting on her knees as she hunched over and stared at nothing in particular with a strained expression. "You... you heard of that terrorist attack at MSG like half a year back? Well, they mislabeled it - surprised to actually find out they fixed their error and actually blamed the mafia about this, not some teenager with an explosive quirk. Anyway, they found us. We tried to fight - both Rin and myself. We got quite a few of them, too, but it just... there were too many. By the time the heroes showed up they fucked me up so bad I ended up in a coma for three months. Should've been dead. Apparently I was actually declared brain dead for a little while. Go figure."
Jasmine shook her head again and ruffled her own hair before huffing roughly, "Anyway. I wake up three months later and I look all different. Nobody knows why my appearance changed, or how I even woke up so early in the first place. Apparently I showed no signs of getting better, just... just woke up one day looking all ashy and shit with eyes greener than a vegetarian's lunch box. Rin had... disappeared. I was told by the Pros that she did survive and she was actually with me in the hospital, but she disappeared. I have no idea why or where. Tried searching. Couldn't find a trace," the last words sounded almost dead in her throat.
"To summarize: all of my friends are dead. Rin's gone. I look like I've undergone fifteen rounds of plastic surgery, have lost weight, have no money to my name, no home, and an even worse case of whatever the fuck type of PTSD I've had for most of my life. So... yeah, I actually haven't eaten properly in weeks. It's... sorta why I'm here. I was hoping you'd let me crash on your couch for a little while. I'm going to try to get back into U.A. Get my life back together. Do this hero-in-training shit properly this time around cause I... don't really have anywhere else to go right now." ---------- Mia Kearney || WC: 1168

Mia sat forward as Jaz figured it was time to let things out indeed, resting her elbows on her knees and just taking a slow breath as she got herself ready for the long haul so to speak. She offered strong respect to the girl sitting with her but a long story was still gonna be a long story, and she was ready to sit and listen. It started with the original intentions there, flowing into the real reason for leaving... good to know Jaz had a strong reason beyond just fucking off at least. That was definitely more satisfying than hearing they just up and left at the end of the day.
She scoffed a little as she mentioned them being teenagers, Mia running her hands together a little. "Yeeeeah I miss those years... though really life ain't changed much for me now.~" She offered with a cheeky ass grin, chuckling as she shook her head and just kept listening.
As the story went on though, Mia was... getting a conflict of interest, to say the least. Being a vigilante turned hero was one thing but Jaz was here admitting to full on crimes and Mia was just sitting here taking it. Really she knew at the end of the day Jaz had her reasons, strong reasons at the sound of things. Still it was... a lot she was being trusted with here, and while she knew she could hold that trust strong, it was still an odd weight on her shoulders coupled with seeing Jaz in the first time in forever.
As things were coming to a close, it was only mildly unsatisfying that even Jaz had no idea what had brought on their new look, but she gave a quiet nod and just accepted the fact it would be an unresolved mystery for now. Jaz admitted a few things, how things were shit for her now, physically, mentally, relationship wise, financially... and how apparently even after hopping up and ditchin' town Mia was her own port of call for a place to stay.
"... Right. First things first." She pushed off her knees, sitting up a little more tightly. "Mia heard all of that... Red Horn heard none of it. But I'm sure ya know that already or ya wouldn't a' said it." She nodded firmly, knowing that Jaz was a smart cookie and put a lot of trust in her telling her all of that. "Far as I'm concerned you're still as much of a hero as the last time I saw ya. Pretty much are one in all but name... but both of us, Mia, Red Horn... telling ya now. This shit follows you? You tell us. Immediately. Got it?"
She didn't want to be so firm, so demanding of whatever they could call their relationship, their bond or... whatever. But she had to be. If this kicked up again... for Jaz's sake, she needed to make sure she knew. She waited for Jaz to say her piece, took a slow breath and continued.
"Ya ain't staying on my couch." She started, pausing just long enough to make Jaz panic before smirking, tipping her head to a door beside the kitchen space. "Got a spare room for when family wanna stay over. Its yours as long as you need it." She offered a soft smile, not too bright... the heaviness of the moment didn't really allow for it. "As for cash I can help... keep ya fed but..." She just let her words trail off. She helped support her family too, and she didn't take a lot of brand deals. Only when she was absolutely sure the terms were good and so was the product... which was depressingly few times. She didn't have an easy solution to offer at the end of the day. She could easily feed another mouth but anything beyond a handful of new clothes? Not a chance.

After Jasmine had said her piece she had sat still for a little while, totally silent, just staring off into space. Internally, she was boiling with worry and unease. Yeah, she trusted Mia. She thought she did, at least. Her mind couldn't help but think that a lot could change in a year. She was a Pro Hero. The Number One, for fuck's sake. It wouldn't be unreasonable at all to think that Mia would just flip Jasmine the big bird and lock her up for all the shit she'd done overseas. Hell, Jasmine wouldn't even blame her if she did. The once great lioness was now just another piece of shit whose place was with the rabble. She'd almost begun to resign herself to her fate, when Mia finally spoke up, breaking the uneasy silence hanging in the air.
The lone wolf blinked, dumbfounded, as she glanced at the blonde woman with no small amount of surprise in her two big emeralds. It took a little while for the teen to process what Mia was saying, but it eventually clicked. She... she couldn't really believe it. So she was right to trust her. Yeah, she was. She knew she was. It's why she told her all of this in the first place. What made her think she couldn't trust her was the natural distrust and skepticism of mankind in general that had manifested itself in the wolf's mind. Jasmine smiled briefly as she let her head hang low, strands of ash falling over her to block her face from view.
"Thank you," she said softly, nodding her head over and over and over. "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." It was so foreign. Such a strange concept that she had forgotten what it felt like. Kindness. Legitimate care and worry. It had become such an unknown for her that it made her cheeks flush when she was confronted by it, her entire body heating up momentarily... almost as high as she used to be before she even left.
"I got it," she confirmed with somewhat of a defeated yet fully resolved tone of voice, nodding again but refusing to show her face. "I'm not going back to that shit ever again. A straight arrow. That's the only road left for me and that's the only one I want to be one. Period." Her words were slow, deliberate, almost as though she was trying to enunciate every single syllable with the utmost care. Until, finally, she raised her head to show her face. Despite her eyes looking she was about to cry, no tears flowed. Instead, a small yet confident smile had etched itself on her face. "If I'm ever going to keep my promise to you - AKA take the throne of number one from you for myself - I can't keep fucking up. I don't plan to. I have other things to worry about."
With that being said, nothing else needed to be mentioned. Jasmine trusted Mia completely and she made that painfully apparent. It was then that the conversation took... a rather odd turn. Jasmine had actually gotten a little worried when Mia had paused so abruptly after giving her a no... and it was then that Jasmine grimaced when it turned out she actually had a guest room. She snorted. "Okay. Guest room. Even better. Won't get in your way if you decide to bring a fling over again," she joked, but at the same time was actually pretty straightforwardly honest.
When she realized where Mia was going with what she was trying to say, the ashen-haired American immediately held a hand up in an attempt to interject. "Ah ah ah. Stop right there. While I do really, honestly, sincerely appreciate it, and I mean absolutely zero offense, I don't need charity. Yours or anybody else's, for that matter. First and foremost, I don't deserve it for shit. Second? I want to earn what I have. All of it. Just so I can learn to appreciate what I have and feel like I deserve to have whatever I manage to get my hands on. So all I'm really asking is for a roof over my head for a couple of days until I get myself grounded. Nothing more. Please don't worry about clothing or anything like that. I know I don't really have the wardrobe I used to - or any wardrobe, let's be honest - but I've learned to take proper care of what few things I have. They are enough. Whatever I need I'll get for myself after I move into the dorms and find a job, yeah? I've already got a few places I want to visit, so I'm on top of it. So, really. Don't worry about that, yeah? If there's one thing I can do, it's survive."
