Giovanni watched Niso. He can see through him. It takes a liar to know a liar. Shame that Giovanni wasnt a mind reader. That quirk would've been much more useful. While he can tell that Niso lied, that doesnt mean he knows what is the truth. Madame Corolas? Yeah, he doubts. Maybe its something with same initials? Nah... too obvious.
Man, it was hard to tell what was going on. There was a lie. But what was the lie, was there a truth? Maybe Giovanni was overthinking things. Still when Nimue and Niso were talking, he didnt intrude. Giovanni waited then for Niso to leave. He didnt grab Nimue's hand. He usually would to hold it. But this time he placed his hand on her shoulder and watched Niso leaving. He waited for the strange PR manager man to leave. That way he can properly talk to Nimue. But as long as he was in earshot and in eyesight, Giovanni kept silent.
He didnt want anyone to know their relation and his ambitions. He was glad Nimue got that he was cautious. This was bonus points to him. He gets to show her how careful he is. That wins her trust right? That he can handle himself. Oh he cant wait to talk to her in peace about this. He has to explain himself why he behaved the way he did

"Madame corolas. Aye." He still felt a small urge to bring up St Marta's but... he bit his tongue hard on that one. No. It was his and his alone. He would watch that place burn down to ashes and feel the aching weight on his shoulders lifted with the smoke as it rises to the sky... even picturing it was deeply cathartic for him, but he made sure not to let it show on his face right now. He needed to maintain his facade, especially infront of a hero, and a criminal like Giovanni... god he was gonna have fun holding this over his head if he needed some blackmail.~ He better do a good job finding him that MARINE...~
"Look, I should er..." He pretended to look to his watch, rolling back the loose sleeve of his suit jacket and nodding in confirmation with the time he was only pretending to check. "I should go. I already did a round of this place and I need to make sure I'm ready on the phone since Hellhound's about to go on patrol. Gotta make sure the cameras are ready if she makes a big bust or anything. I'll text you the address of madame corolas when I get back to my desk." He hesited before leaving, but gave each of them one last firm handshake before he started to leave. "And hey... it really was a pleasure to meet you both. Keep up the good work.~ Tokyo would be a mess without people like you.~"

As Giovanni said nothing, Nimue could focus on Niso and talk to him about this shady orphanage that he mentioned. Only to glance at her boyfriend for a few seconds to see his reaction, but he said nothing. She took Niso's phone number, and after that immediately wrote down the name of Madame Corolas and said that she would contact him when she got more information if he was right or not. Still, there was no harm in trying even if he was not right. Every kid needed to have a good health and thus a medical check-up. She looked up from her little notes when she heard him stutter again and noticed he looked at his watch, "Oh shoot, I am sorry, I didn't mean to take all your time. Thank you so much for meeting me and I hope Freya can come here too." She smiled, it had been an interesting meeting and she shook his hand therefore gratefully.
She smiled happily to him as he complimented her before he left. She waved him goodbye and continued for a second in silence. She moved her phone away and cleaned off the desk now that they were done. Putting everything in its place as the instruments of a doctor were expensive and should be handled carefully. "Why did you say that?" She asked, she wasn't sure how to start, her voice, therefore, hinted to her uncertainty. On the one hand, she was glad that he got her issue from last night and didn't immediately jovially say he was her boyfriend but also her PR manager? She didn't get it? She wasn't jealous of Freya for having one. Freya was much more in the spotlights because she was combat-focused than Nimue. So she did not feel like she needed one and what would Freya save if she asked her about Giovanni. Should Nimue just say it was a joke? But then the question would again be who was he and well... well she did not have to hide that from Freya and her crew?

Once Niso was gone, Giovanni was able to communicate with Nimue properly. And she took that chance to right away ask why did he say that. Giovanni spoke "Several reasons. God, I dont know where to start" he said with a shrug and then look at her "But I will tell you" he then got serious "He called you Witch Doctor, not Nimue. And as far as the world knows Witch Doctor does not have a boyfriend. Only Nimue does. Nimue and Witch Doctor are two seperate people. Secondly, I dont believe a single dirty word from a guy like that. If he told me he was a man, I'd say he was lying, thats how much I dont trust him. I dont know what is it about him. But its wrong. Something about that guy is not right. Be careful with him. He gives me the vibes of someone who will stab you in the back while jovially laughing" and then he gets the PR manager and shrugged
"As for the PR Manager. Well, he said it and it gave me a good cover. After all, why would a Pro Hero be with a restaurant owner in an orphanage? People would get that we are more intimate than that. And well... I dont know how secure other pro heroes are. But when it comes to safety, security and secrets. I'm a damn number 1"
And then he adds "This Freya woman is Hellhound right? Well I will keep my story about being a PR Manager. It is now my own 'secret identity'. I dont want anyone to know that the Pro Hero Witch Doctor is dating a restaurant owner. Otherwise hell will break loose. Either from annoying reporters or villains. You can never know who might hear that. Best thing to do is to have safety first"
Lastly he sighs
"Shame I didnt give an alias. I stupidly said my real name. Ah well... I guess I'll be a 'PR Manager' now. At least for play and pretend" he said

Her face was anything but happy, it was sad even. She knew that he had a good reason to it and his argumentation was very great but that did not mean that it was going well. She wasn't going to say anything about it and only sighed about it. "Right." She did not have much more to say and packed her bag. "Let's just walk around for a bit, I want to see this house before we go. I am sorry for bringing you in this situation." That meant she could not even tell Freya about having a boyfriend because Giovanni wanted to hold on to the alias. She did not want the journalists and such to be at his restaurant for that and she kept nodding to herself the whole while that she thought about it. "I don't like how complicated this job is or how dangerous and I want it to stop. I can't stand it." She mumbled looking to her feet on the ground. It was just something that she wanted to let go, being a doctor would be a lot easier. But she wouldn't be able to join in the use of her quirk. It might again be something to ask to the professionals but is that what she wanted? There was so much to consider. She thought she had left this behind.
"If I did not have this quirk, there is so much I couldn't do but there will be so many things I can do or so many things that would not be an issue. It is such a parody, so strange thing, I don't know what to do." She did not know what to do or what to say. She felt a little sad about it and tried to hold on to the idea that she was doing something right today. Exactly what Niso said, it did not matter that Giovanni thought he was a liar, she wanted to believe it.

She... was not happy? Why was she not happy? He thought she wanted to be safe with him. So why did safety bother her? She sighed. He didnt say anything as he thought she was going to say something. And she did, but not what he expected "There is nothing to be sorry of" he said, concerned. He offered her his hand, so they can hold hands. He agreed that they can walk together.
Nimue spoke how she does not like how complicated her job is. He wholeheartedly nodded "I understand you. But every job has its Pros and cons." when he noticed that she looked down, Giovanni gently put his finger under her chin and lifted her head, so he can see her eyes. Nimue spoke once again, if she didnt have this quirk, she would be just as helpless as he is. Sensing her sadness, he hugged her and embraced her. "I'm sorry if I made you sad. I just care about your safety and ours. We just have to learn the ropes now. This was our first trial. We can discuss in the future about how much the society can know about Witch Doctor and me. I'm sure together we can surprass any hurdle life throws our way. Ok?" he touches her cheek and then kisses her gently "So dont look sad. Dont be sad. We can do everything and anything together." |

She did not feel like crying, she wasn't going to do this. This was just a moment of a backlash, but she was going to be okay with today. She did it correctly, she had used her title for something but the kids had not known she was Pro-hero. She wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. "Sometimes I wish there were two of me though." Just her as Nimue and another person being Witch Doctor. But she let him talk and she took his hand and smiled a little as they would walk hand in hand and checked the facility. She would continue to talk about what her issue was and she nodded, yea every pro and cons but that was an issue. She would let it go, "I mean I love my job because I can do things right, I can help people." She gave a wry smile.
She looked up surprised, "No-no you did not. I mean you are great but I don't want you to feel stupid or like ehm what's the word." She frowned, "I don't want you to be burdened by my job." She stood still and let him hug her and hold her and she smiled a little even though she looked down and she felt him touch her cheek and her amber coloured eyes looked up and met his and she let him kiss her. There in the hallway of this orphanage and it made her smile. She held his hand and whispered, "Let's go." She wanted to go now, they were done, they could just finish this and do something else. Grab a late lunch or something. That would be the best thing to do and just let it be. This was her work and this was her life and it was manageable. And he understood it, she smiled and squeezed his hand while they walk to the car. "Thank you, for being here, for coming along, thank you for being you."

Giovanni nodded "Si si. I understand. I wish there two of me as well." he said and understood how life would be easy if it was that way. But now it was all good. THe two held hands and he looked at her lovingly as he decided to walk with her hand in hand. She spoke how she loved her job because she can help people. Giovanni smiled when he saw her wry smile.
But still he apologized for making her sad. His overly caution must have upset her. Nimue looked up surprised and said that he did not upset her. She said he didnt upset her, but did good. But she doesnt want him to feel stupid or burdened by her job. For now he first hugged her. And then he touches her cheek and then kisses her gently. "Darling. Dont worry about me. I am happy as long as I am with you"Nimue held his hand and whispered that they can go. He then whispered back "Si" the word he had to omit before when he was with Niso. But now when they were alone together, he can be himself.
She smiled and squeezed his hand now as they walked to the car. She thanked him for today. He looked at her lovingly and told her "Thank you for existing."he opened the car door for her and helped her get in. After which she did, he closed the car door and went to his seat. After which he drove. They drove home |
