(sorry this took a while to set up)
Well this had certainly been a unique little proposal the colledge had recived. Among its list of applicants for the next school year, they had received someone requesting to perform a unique dual-course arrangement while finishing their last year of a high school level course. Typically, without exemplary recommendation. Of course, the kid had very solid recommendations from his school, but even then it was an unusual circumstance. Looking into them however only made the case all the more interesting.
Basically, the boy looking to apply was port of UA academy, one of, if not the first ever hero school in the world. Brows were raised on the application viewing board, and a long debate was had on the matter. Those on the review board who were still… ‘antsy’ towards those with quirks were not too sure they should even consider the application in any form, while others voted for inclusivity, and even the reputation it would garner for their colledge. They would help form the mind of the first hero medical practitioner? (barring one… unusual example). Ultimately, it was a close call based on the relevancy of other applicants, but the vote on the matter seemed to come through in the young man’s favour.
Sent a partial approval letter, providing directions and general instructions for an initial interview to try and assure he was a good fit for the educational facility, Haruto would arrive on the day of the interview. Staggered appointments meaning the waiting space in the lobby wasn’t too full, with only the most eager applicants arriving an hour or more in advance and thus leaving the space pretty open, with an odd currently attending student here or there passing through the common space of the waiting area.
Eventually, a roughly 30-40 year old woman stepped out of the interview room, checking her clipboard and lifting her head to scan the maybe 3 or 4 heads in the waiting room. “Shimizu Haruto?”

About all Shimizu Haruto could feel were nerves. Not necessarily about the interview he was waiting patiently for- But for what it represented. The future. It felt like just yesterday that he had been notified of a meeting with the school's guidance counselor, and his plans for the future were turned on his head. See, she had worked with the school nurse, to arrange a rather unique opportunity for him. A chance to apply to college, despite still being in his second year. And despite all of the encouragements of his friends... Whether or not he was ready, was a question he did not have an answer to. And likely would not find an answer to, until well into the year. If he was accepted.
But the initial outlook was promising. Between the Witch Doctor's reputation and his own significant resume- Including having been the lead in the infirmary during the school nurse's extended absence- The boy had passed the first round of the process. Well, that much was to be expected, or else Nakahara-sensei would not have even recommended him for the program... But getting a swelled head from it, would destine him for failure at the later stages.
It wasn't an entirely unheard of situation. If there was something unusual about UA's request... It was that they preferred him to remain on UA's campus and commute to the school in Tokyo for his classes, rather than remain in the school for the full time and transfer back the credits he needed for high school graduation. But given UA's unique nature... While Mathematics, Social Studies, and the like could be transferred backwards with ease... The more specialized courses he would require in his third year, needed to be handled by UA. But given the proximity, it would not be difficult to enroll him as a commuter student. And so, there truly were no hitches. Aside from his own lack of confidence.
However, everyone he knew believed in him, and it was hard to not be infected by their attitude! From Nakahara-sensei and Tsuchiya-sensei, the faith that he was ready. Tsutsuji-sensei's reminder that the worst that could happen was he failed and tried again with the experience. Elise's reminder that what was important was not his skill, but his determination to improve it. But sitting here, in the waiting room... It was not altogether surprising that all the old nerves were rising. Had he practiced enough? What if they asked him a question he was not prepared for? What... If his answers were wrong? The white haired boy gulped.
But there was no more time to muse. A voice rang out. The boy swallowed again, not that there was anything left in his mouth. "Hello, that would be me. It is a pleasure to meet you." The boy would stand up and bow as he replied. If his speech was a bit overly stiff and formal... Who could blame him?

The woman in the lab coat offered a brief smile, bowing her head just briefly in turn with her hands closed together about her hips where she stood. “It is a pleasure to meet you too Haruto, your academic file was certainly an interesting read among the candidates.” With a briefly strengthened smile the woman turned and gestured for him to follow with a rather calm “If you’d please follow me?” Parting from her lips. As she guided Haruto inside to the interview room. She seemed to be the only person sporting the ‘Dr’ attire as the two other people in the room, a young man in a suit and a slightly older man wearing some sort of liquid apparatus around his neck (possibly supporting a gill quirk of some kind) in a more custom made suit sitting at a long table across the room. The woman would stay with Haruto briefly, gesturing for him to take a seat at the smaller table facing theres, a short walk between them, enough for someone to need to speak clearly but not raise their voice to hold a conversation.
Once Haruto was settled comfortably, she’d offer a hopefully reassuring smile that creased the corners of her slightly aged facial features before moving to her own table across the room, flicking back the tail end of her lap coat so it wasn’t a bother before pulling herself into the table. There was a brief moment of silence (Unless Haruto decided to fill it) as the three of them decided to briefly organize their notes on this applicant. A look shared between each of them to confirm they were ready, and they made their introductions.
“Well, a pleasure to meet you young man. We will be conducting your interview today.” The woman held a seemingly more formal tone but there was some clear sense she was still the same gentle woman who’d greeted Haruto. Just had to play the game for the interview and all that. She rested a hand on her chest. “My name is Dr Gawa, and these are my colleagues, Mr harozi and Mr Shishi.” She gestured to the young man, then the older, apparatus harnessing gentleman. The young man seemed to have a more peppy smile to him while the older seemed to have a constant furrow in his brow… though that may just be in part to how the apparatus was squeezing into his cheeks a bit, pressing his features together somewhat.
“Thank you Dr Gawa. Now young man.” Placing his papers down, said older man clasped his hands together, pointer fingers joining forces to gesture towards Haruto. “We’ve read your application of course… but we’d like you to introduce yourself in person, and give us the reason behind your application. Why you think you’d think you’d be a good fit for our facility.” The older man pressed his fingers to his lips. It was a simple question, one likely answered in the application, but it helped test an applicants confidence, and ensured they hadn’t had their application written for them.

Interesting was a word with many connotations, and for some reason... Despite the woman's friendly tone, Haruto's nervous mind could only hear the negative ones. Gulping as subtly as he could, the white haired boy stood and followed the woman inside. Fortunately, een with his nerves, his ingrained politeness was hardly lost- Bowing before sitting down at each of the other interviewers. "Hello, it is nice to meet you." He would say, thankfully without stuttering, before taking the seat he was offered. "Thank you all for meeting with me." He would tell them, as was only polite.
Introductions were the natural first step. They knew him, but he did not know who they were- And that was promptly fixed. But formalities were formalities, and the interview soon started in earnest- With a question he could have seen coming a mile away. Perhaps it was because he had asked himself it so many times in preparation... But it did set his nerves at a sort of ease. It was without worrying about stuttering that he began his first- and certainly not last- answer.
"I have held a vested interest in medicine since a young age. Ever since my quirk cured my neighbors of an unexpected disease-" The story which was the cornerstone of his life. Fortunately, he had been young enough at the time to be exempt from legal action for it. "I have been extremely interested not only in the function of my quirk, but the medical sciences as a whole. A passion which has led to my extensive focus on the subject during my time at UA, and includes not only theoretical experience, but practical as well." Should he specify? No, they were aware of what his application said. That he had been acting as the primary carer in the school infirmary for the past several months. Of course, this was under the strict eye of the school... He was, after all, still a student.
"And even beyond this, I spent some time interning with Hikawa Gyousomu-sensei." The school internship program had allowed him to join the renowned surgeon in her work, an experience for which he was grateful. Even beyond its appearance on a resume, he had learned a lot. "During which I gained many insights into the methods of treatment for quirkers." The area he had declared as his focus of study on his application. Quirks became increasingly common- And as they did, so too did the number of quirks which were incompatible with traditional techniques.
"It is my hope that in joining your facility, I will be able to build upon what I have learned in these experiences." He finished. Would they accept his words? Had he misunderstood the question... No, he could worry about that after they had had a chance to speak. Gulp.

As they listened to the young man give his answer all 3 of the interviewers would give Haruto the respect of saving their note taking till the end, the doctor present seemed to be smiling along as well as her younger colleague, while the man with the apparatus remained as stern faced as ever, though it was quickly becoming uncertain if he simply wasn’t impressed or if a grouch face was ultimately just his natural state of being. Once Haruto was done, they’d start idly making small notes on their clipboard, the Doctor speaking with an upbeat tint to her tone as she did so. “Well that’s a good start. Work experience, supervised I assume, a valid motivation and of course an understanding of what you hope to achieve. Certainly a good start.~”
Mr Harozi, the younger gentleman among the trio, decided he’d give a go next. While the answer did very well to declare his intentions for coming here and paining him in a positive light, Harozi had his own little curveball to throw into the situation. “Now Haruto I see you’re hoping to continue you’re current hero course studies while attending our course as well. Have you found there to be any complications that might arise in taking this path? Of course we want to assure you that if we do take you on we will fully believe you can handle the workload itself, but has anything as simple as time management or transport issues come up when planning for the following year?” A simple enough question, primarily designed to make sure he wasn’t a blind ‘hopeful’ wanting to balance this, and that he’d actually done some of the more fundamental research into the reality of such a possibility, even on such mundane complications. Afterall they wanted to ensure he’d actually show up for his first days / evenings at their course.

Haruto would nod so as not to interrupt, affirming that his work had been supervised. Mostly. After all, with Nimue in absence, while one of the school's other teachers had offered to take her place... She had mostly deferred to Haruto, so it was hard to say he had been supervised by her. But this was Haruto, after all, and he would never feel that way. But what mattered was that- Mister Shishi aside, the interviewers were happy with his answer. A weight was lifted from his back, so to speak- As long as he was as prepared for what else would be asked, his worries would have been for naught.
And the following question was similarly well established. The arrangements had been something he worked out with Nimue- The only oddity being that he would commute to college, instead of away from it. But all things considered, this was not at all unusual. "Yes, the question of transportation has arisen, however, it is not expected to be a trouble. It is a half hour by train from Musutafu to Tokyo, and including the time spent coming from the train to and from each school, the overall commute would be only a bit more than forty-five minutes. It was one of the reason Nimue had approached this school in particular- But that was better off left unsaid.
"A commute of that order is not uncommon for other commuter students, and UA has expressed a willingness to adjust my training schedule at their campus to better accommodate the courses I will take at your facilities." As the ones making the request, it was only natural that UA would oblige. Overall, it would not be difficult to adjust his schedules such that he had ample time for commuting from one to the other. Of course, it would be preferable for him to primarily be enrolled in afternoon courses- But that sort of negotiation would be handled if and when he was accepted, and not a moment sooner.
"As far as time management goes- I am fully confident in my ability to meet all requirements. As you are aware, I have been acting as the president of the cooking club, the school nurse's lead assistant, and the teaching aide for the first year class. While at first I struggled to balance my duties, the experience has given me great confidence in my ability to balance my old and new responsibilities." Other concerns included his educational level- However, separate from this interview, he understood that there was to be an exam which would be a better judge of that than his words ever could.
"Nor should my age be an issue- I will be 17 at this time next year, which is no younger than other first year applicants." Most of whom would be 17 or 18. As such, he would hardly be a social oddity due to his age, especially were he to not make a big deal about his special circumstances. In addition... Well, tuition he was not going to talk about! Because he remembered his parents' warnings from beforehand. If he were to, for example, assure them that he could afford tuition- They would be less likely to offer aide! But he obviously wouldn't want to make it seem as though he couldn't afford tuition, either! In short, leave off the table. And yet, he still felt like he needed to add something else. He had answered the suggestions they had given, but to really be a part of the conversation, he needed to take a step past that!
Maturity had been his largest concern- But he felt awkward trying to use that in a sentence. "As a commuter student, I understand that my ability to socialize with my classmates will be lessened. To counteract this, I intend to participate in campus activities and groups when possible." The social aspect of college was small, but important. While he could go through all four years without a single friend, to do so would be unfortunate, and he was already considering which clubs he would join. Of course, that depended on the club existing in the first place.

The interviewers listened carefully to the clearly well thought answer. Haruto had covered his bases beyond what they may have even innately expected. Making sure your travel being in order was one thing but some candidates tended to be a little more nervous about approaching their own schools to arrange unique time tables and the like to balance both their workloads. The fact he’d done so and assured they’d be malleable ahead of time was certainly helpful to them and showed he had the courage to address such a topic, or that the school endorsed the idea enough already beyond their general recommendation from them that they’d made sure he understood such arrangements could definitely be made.
Each took their notes, the doctor’s eyes lighting up a little as she did at the mention of their being extra activities he was managing on top of his course load already and a brief smile seeming to pull at the corner of his lips in turn, though the firm voiced elder man of the group quickly voiced- “Will you be planning to drop any of those additional activities to partake in this second course? I mean even with generous allowances from your current school I find it hard to see how you could juggle…” He briefly checks his notes and ticks it off with a flick of his pen as he goes. “Cooking president, teacher assistant, pre med studies, her studies, aaaand potentially extra colledge activities too…”
(sorry I worry as the interviewers my posts are a bit minimal, let me know if I don't give you enough to work with in these and i'll try to improve)

A hint of melancholy tinged Haruto's eyes at the question- It was a question he had long since asked himself. He was in charge of many- perhaps too many- things at his school. "Yes, I will be dropping or lessening several of my roles in order to pursue this opportunity. I have already begun the process of resigning as club president." Well, he would have done that anyways. The third year was the most important for studying even if he was not entering college, and he would prefer a second year to be the president. "As for my others... In the infirmary, I have already been training several first years who will be able to take my place should I be otherwise engaged." In the first place, if it weren't for Nimue's leave of absence, he would not have been so overwhelmed... Now that she was back, his presence was hardly necessary, although he did feel obligated to continue helping. UA students were simply too prone to injury!
"As my teaching assistant work is already in place of classes at UA, it should not interfere with my studies disproportionately." At least, not now that Mikhail was back, and could properly guide him. The first week was definitely the terrible time there, and now that it was over, things were going quite smoothly. "While I do not know how taxing the new studies and activities I will be taking on will be, I do understand my own limits. If the burden is greater than I am prepared for, I will naturally prioritize my education above extracurricular activities." Was his response, covering each and every activity he was currently engaged in. It was a shame, but, even his optimism did not leave room to believe he could continue everything as he had. Removing himself as club president was less painful, as he would do it anyways- But he felt guilty about the inevitable decrease in his time spent at the infirmary. As for the rest... He could only wait and see how much the extra work impacted his ability to study.
However, while it was clear he regretted his decision, it was even moreso clear that he had put much thought into it. That he was confident that his new workload would be manageable, and that he was not so irresponsible as to leave before arranging a replacement. Both qualities which reflected well on the white haired boy's future prospects.

The man with the aquatic apparatus almost seemed… frustratingly impressed. There was the briefest raise of his brow and a genuine sense of good favour earned not only by how he was holding a realistic view of what he could handle but ensuring he wasn’t just leaving vacancies behind, but instead assuring that there was somewhere there to fill his place. Of course it was short lived. While the younger man and the female doctor on this interview board seemed more than ready to be impressed by the young man, this older gentleman frustratingly pushed down his brow when the two of them seemed to give him an almost cheeky smile, busying himself by adding to his notes… though what he was writing was anyone’s guess.
The doctor of the group dipped her head, almost in thanks for the clear and thought out answers so far from the promising looking student, adjusting her own notes and seeming to pull through them to what was necessary for her next question. “Well young man, at risk of giving the game away so to speak I must say I’m impressed by just how much you’ve thought this out thus far. Really beyond getting into the medical nitty gritty I’d say I’m finding it hard to trip you up.~” She joked with a bit of levity to her tone, afterall this process was by no means meant to trip potential students up.
Still, she leaned forward, elbows on the desk, her hands joined with her chin resting upon their backs. “So, perhaps a bit more of a personal question. What are your primary goals on completing these courses. Both hero and pre-med? I mean there’s obvious conclusions we can come to from what you’ve provided us so far but I’m curious to hear it in your own words.”

Haruto smiled and nodded, taking the other's statement as politeness. In his eyes, this much was only natural- And the interviewers wouldn't be telling him this soon what the results would be, lest he get a swelled head. Which he very well might, if he took his acceptance for granted... And so the boy steeled himself against the praise, displaying the very maturity he had feared he lacked. The interviewer's words aside... It was all too easy for a boy his age to be granted such an opportunity, and see it as a proof of their own genius, and acceptance as a sealed fact. An attitude which would destine them for failure- If not now, then later down the line. But this was a trait he hardly recognized himself, let alone would emphasize in his answers.
Speaking of answers... A question he had asked himself many a time before applying for this program. After all, was there really a reason to pursue both at the same time? Why not simply pick one over the other. In the end, his decision- "I have two major goals in my studies, and they are hardly mutually exclusive between the two subjects. The first- As I mentioned earlier, is that I do intend to make the study of unique quirk treatments one of my focus areas. UA has always been at the forefront of this, as one of the few places where quirk use is not only permitted but encouraged." And of course, this led to many students needing treatment, giving him plenty of experience in the area. But while the experience was useful, it would only be amplified by systematically learning the rest.
"The other half is... I want to help my classmates. I am not a hero, but I am a support. I want to be the one who is there to patch them up. To make sure that at the end of the day, all of my friends are on their feet. And to do the tasks that I can, so that they don't have to worry about what's behind their backs as they stare evil in the face. That sort of feeling?" His language was a bit flowery here, mostly because... It wasn't as concrete. Heroes on the whole were too new, and so many of them former vigilantes, that the idea of a support focus was rare.
The comparison between the two goals, however, was clear. The former, emphasized the use of his hero studies to supplement his goals in his medical studies. The latter, used his medical studies to supplement his hero studies. The two were interconnected- It was not simply studying both at the same time, but using what he learned in one to further the other. He would not give up on either. That was the answer he had found.

A repeated answer in part but for good reason, he had indeed mentioned it earlier but the woman was just looking for a more detailed answer which she was certainly provided. He had strong moral goals, he was showing a logical mind in how he approached those goals going forward, and while one interviewer may have been annoyed to admit it it was hard to find fault in this gifted individual. Now, of course, they’d be looking at many, many other promising candidates over the next few days if not weeks with the potential volume of applicants such a course could get and the time sink of their personal interviews… but things seemed to be looking good as the interviewers shared gentle nods across eachother.
“Well, those are certainly admirable goals to achieve with your time studying with us here. Now. Of course as you were informed there will be a more practical test we’ll be expecting you to take. Nothing too strenuous, just a simple exam to get a sense of your more innate inclination towards the subject… though a bright young man like yourself I’m sure you tried to achieve some more general studies towards it regardless hm?~” The woman running the interview gave a borderline cheeky smile before adjusting her stance to a slightly more professional one. “But… before we guide you to the exam waiting area, do you have anything you’d like to pose towards us?”

Haruto nodded in affirmation. "Of course." He was already being given special consideration to enter a year early- He would hardly dream of bypassing the college exams. As such, he hardly took her assurance that it was nothing strenuous seriously. The entrance exam to a prestigious university was not going to be a cinch, especially with his being a year behind the others. However... If he balked at the challenge of such a test, he would not have even come to this interview! However, what he had not expected... Would be that the exam would be conducted on the spot! The white haired boy blinked twice, his mind racing. Had he studied enough for this? Would he be able to pass this unexpected test?
But as sensei had said. The worst that could happen would be that he failed. And if that happened, he would just try again next year!
With that in mind, his heart lightened, and a confident smile formed on his lips. "Yes, I did have a few questions. First and foremost, regarding your school's medical program, I was wondering if and how quirks are currently integrated into the curriculum? Both their use for treatment, with appropriate licensing of course, and as a complication towards treating a patient." As his major focus area, he was quite curious what this prospective school's stance was on the matter. While Nimue-sensei had arranged for him to study here, so he had no doubts as to their expertise... Well, he had known going in to have some well thought out questions prepared.
After several more such questions about the state of the campus he would hopefully be joining, Haruto would nod with a smile. "I think that's everything from me. Thank you once more for taking the time to meet with me." He would bow as he stood up, before following the interviewers to the testing room. As for his results... He would find out sometime after the exhibition festival. But it was out of his hands now.
Fortunately, the upcoming event gave him plenty to sink his mind into, and away from the fear of failure.
