Fucking hell this had been a nightmare so far.
Mia, a long while ago, had tried hiring a maid for her place so that the little time she was spending at home wasn’t wasted just clearing up her own messes from the even fewer times she got to blow off steam. She’d even briefly ended up hiring an old companion who acted as a vigilante, a dragon quirk girl who definitely had a good set of skills to be a maid… but that never worked out. The dragon maid just never really took the job seriously and eventually she had to let them go. As much as they got along, she just needed to actually get a professional for the job.
She hadn’t really considered trying for another for quite some time, it just wasn’t something she explicitly needed but as her time as the number one hero was stacking her with responsibilities the idea became more and more tempting once more. She’d need someone to do live in work, had some experience, but also wouldn’t drive her insane. Afterall she’d basically be paying someone to be a very tidy roommate, she wanted someone she could hang out with and didn’t just send to their room when she came home so she didn’t have to deal with them all up in her space.
So, she put some ads out. The things she were looking for were experience cleaning, caring for plants, organizing. She wasn’t too worried about cooking since she’d prefare to handle that. She also needed someone willing to be discrete, willing to sign non disclosure agreements (as she tended to do some ‘personal’ stuff in her free time) and could be trusted to handle an allowance, as in, money of Mia’s solely meant for food and cleaning products, or the other small things she needed to get done while she was busy saving the fucking day.
She’d already been through several interviews, a few earlier in the week which all had felt horrible. Every last one of them came off like posh fuddy duddies regardless of their resume. The odd excited fan trying to fake it all so they could work for Mia even got in too but they were easy enough to pick out… even if she’d had to call the cops on one so she didn’t get caught literally tossing them out ass over head.
A day of venting to Freya about the issue came with two potential solutions. Her drinking buddy suggested she make it clear to the rest of her interview list she needed someone who wasn’t so uptight to ‘hang’ with once the day was done given they’d be living in her Tokyo apartment. Mia considered that and it could work, but the more curious answer to her problem was suggesting someone she thought would be a good hire. Mia told Freya if her friend was interested, to send her the blonde’s way to see if she was a good fit.
On the day of her second batch of interviews, Mia could feel the life draining out of her everytime she told people she wanted to see the real them. If she ever had a normal interview for a normal job she felt she’d leap at the chance to show her true self to her employer but no one else seemed to have that desire. Everytime she asked everyone just seemed to think it was a test and kept up the act, even this super punky looking girl who’s clearly fixed her hair to try and poorly hide some purple and red highlights in her black hair.
Picking out a beer from the ice cooler she’d put beside her desk, taking the interviews in the first floor office space of her two floor apartment. Her own office space was surrounded by glass walls with full curtains, though all of them were lifted right now, as Mia had no idea how much people might like some privacy during their interview. She glanced to the few couches, chairs and beenbags in a corner of the extended room beyond the office cube, sighing deeply at the few more she had to get through and rising up to approach the door, taking a sip of her beer before opening up the door. “Alright. Who’s next?”
