It was a rare opportunity to hear a professional hero's outlook on her upperclassmen! Nodding along, mm, it was to be expected that Darren-senpai had all sorts of offers, given his position. But it really highlighted the difference between him and Tetsuko! Both of them had achieved the same amount and would likely have received similar amounts of offers... But as expected of Shouko's idol, it was Tetsuko-senpai who had made sure to properly respond to the ones she refused! But if both Darren and Tetsuko had refused, and Yumi wasn't offered... Eh? "In the end, who did you take as interns?" Came the curious question. As much as Shouko tried to follow what was happening, she couldn't know which pros had taken which students! And who would have been left, with the top picks all refusing the offer?
Tetsuko was unsurprising, to be fair. Her ability came as much from her swordsmanship as from her powerful quirk- With a delicate finesse which simply did not suit Red Horn. A technical-type pro hero like, hmm, Mikhail-sensei or Hachi-sensei would suit her far better! Darren, however, came as a surprise. The other finalist of the sports festival, however, was more of a surprise! While Darren purported himself as a martial artist, he was definitely more the kind to wing it! Red Horn would be way more suitable to his style... Let's see, if she remembered correctly... Darren-senpai had chosen Geist instead? She wondered why he had made that choice. But there was no way to find out now!
As for Yumi... "Heeh, is that so?" Shouko would ask. She'd never known that about her upperclassman! But then, she'd never really seen her in dire straits. Even in her fight against Darren, by the time things got bad, her quirk was drained to it's limit, so... There really wasn't a chance for it to discharge unintentionally. But that wasn't what caught her attention! If the #1 Hero couldn't guarantee stopping Yumi's electricity, and that's with her tough body being one of her most prominent traits... Shouko's evaluation of her upperclassman's ridiculous quirk elevated by a step yet again! And that made it all the more impressive for Darren-senpai to have taken her down!
"Nyahaha, of course I'm entering! I'd never miss the chance to see everyone fighting at their best from so close!" How silly. Eh, wait, what if they scheduled matches at the same time again? They'd only had the one stadium last time but the budget could have increased and then she would miss the matches that went at the same- Ah, whatever! She'd worry about that when it came to it. And besides- "This time I have friends to help film, too! Yeah! I'll have at least twice as many angles, even of my own fight!" A dreamy gaze fell into her eyes. While her videos of last year had received a lot of praise for her ability to get the right angle... In the end, she could only film from one side at a time!
It seemed her goals for entering the sports festival were largely the same as Red Hoprn's for watching it.
Shouko was the wrong person to bring up the use of family names with. After all, Shouko was well known for not only using her friend's first names, but twisting them into nicknames! "En, that's Tsutsuji-sensei! Eto, as for using last names..." Well, she used the last name to refer to Hachi-sensei just now didn't she? But that was because- "It's polite? Like, even in America, you call people by their last name sometimes, right? Like eto..." There was an example in english class, right? Her index finger tapped on her temple as she tried to recall... "[Mister Brown has a brown dog] The girl spoke in thickly accented English. Of course, considering Shouko's grade in English, this was already a surprisingly functional sentence!
In any case, it was that kind of feeling!
The Pro roughly agreed with her assessment... or so it seemed. "Nyahaha, but that's not bad! It might not make for a good show, but no one got hurt, right? In the first place, martial arts exist for the weak to overcome the strong..." She had probably stolen that line from some manga or another. "So isn't it fine as long as you're strong enough to not need them? At some point, trying to be fancy just overcomplicates things!" Well, Shouko still preferred martial arts to the alternative. Strength was fine and all, but battle was all about how one overcame that gap! No two people were created equal, but how they trained was what made all the difference!
"Basically, it's like... In the face of an overwhelming strength, all skill is meaningless?" Well, efficiency aside... Red Horn was right. It wasn't a very enthralling display. It was more like a game of the card game War- The ending was determined the moment the decks were handed out, it was just a back and forth as they tried to get there. There wasn't much to analyze aside from the way the pro hero had used their body to protect the civilians behind, and even then... She hadn't looked to weaken the impacts by deflecting them, or been finding a weak spot in the barrage to break through!
As such, the brunette could only stand there awkwardly. The Pro had been the one who asked, but... As a battle analyst, it was really awkward to tell someone that she didn't have much to say about how they fought!

At the question of who she took on Mia rubbed the back of her neck. “Oh just some kids I’d seen who looked kinda impressive. Not as impressive as getting to the finals of the sports festival mind but-“ She shrugged with a chuckle, hoping to emphasize she was just joking in that regard. “But yeah I got one internship program running with Kirk, Reddarc, and Feng. Kirk I met once before but the other two were fresh faces to me. Both of them seemed to have the kind of energy I could get behind and.. well. If you’ve ever met Kirk I’m sure you’ll know he’s got a lot of energy too…” She rubbed the back of her neck a little more firmly. “I also took on that Angel girl but… that was more cause she kept requesting it. Eventually felt a bit bad. She’s gonna help me with some work over the next week but I ain’t too sure if I’m gonna be doing anything combat related with her. Need to get more of a feel for her first ya know?”
Beyond that she gave a gentle shrug. “Still, if any kid figures they wanna get another run at the internships with me, I’ll hardly complain. Eager to see what the rest of them are made of in the field ya know?~”
At the comment on Yumi and her quirk, Mia didn’t feel like she could comment with much surety. “I mean, it was in her file. Maybe she’s learned to control it, but wasn’t a risk I could take without knowing for sure ya know?”
Mia chuckled as she watched the girl get so gung ho over her own upcoming sports festival experience, and definitely became a little eager herself to see the girl in action. She certainly looked like the type who’d be more than prepared by the time it came about and Mia would be eager in turn to see what she could pull off. Then, a thought occurred. “Wait did I ask you what yer own quirk was yet?” She folded her arms as she tipped her head to the side. Usually she was all excited to see the quirks of the students but it had slipped her mind so far with this one. “Whatever it is, I’m sure it’ll make for a good ‘show’!~”
Mia couldn’t help but snicker a little as the girl before her tried to speak English when explaining the situation with calling people by their surnames. “Okay yeah but even then it’s more like, in extremely formal situations. I just see it happen a lot more in Japan is all. Guess you guys just have more of a culture of respect or something. I ain’t trying to knock it, just pointing it out is all. Besides.” She pounded the side of her fist lightly against her chest. “Adds to my Foreign charm if I keep sticking with my own habits.~”
With Shouko looking a little… down, as she tried to further explain her battle analysis, Mia didn’t mind so much. The kid was right and just showing themselves as all the more smart and in a sense, impressive for it. “Hey kid don’t try and backpedal or anything, I get it I do. You’re right. I’m more brawn than I am brain and that’s just how I’ve been able to manage it. Some people need martial arts cause their bodies just can’t get any physically stronger. For me, the more I try and the harder I fight, the stronger I seem to get time and time over, so it’s not like I’ve got the same limitation. Sometimes I’ll find someone who has enough skill to keep me on my toes, but in those cases it just comes down to needing one lucky blow.”
She never had any false assumptions about herself, and while admitting she lacked skill was a mild blow to her ego, it wasn’t one she was gonna try and fruitlessly avoid. “But… like I said. Strengths’ just how I handle things. Always thought martial arts and crap turn real, guttural fighting into like… way too much of a dance or something.” She sighed more deeply and shrugged again. “I just prefer something a little more…’visceral’ in my combat style.~”

Kirk-senpai and Feng-senpai, Shouko knew! She knew very well! Both had taken part in the combat tournament- The former, notable due to his unconventional style and undeniable musculature! The latter, standing out despite a first round loss for her iron will that refused to give up in the bleakest of situations! And experiencing her self-made martial style, Shouko's respect for the upperclassman only grew! Which was the opposite for Kirk, whose diametrically opposite viewpoint from her own and insistence on suggesting his unconventional ways to people it would not suit, certainly lowered her impression of. But the third one... "Reddarc?" She asked, unfamiliar with the name. Well, in her defense, the boy rarely went by his full name... And, god forbid anyone use his family name.
Well, even if he was introduced by the shortened version of his name, she didn't know much about him. He had entered her ridiculous training exercise free for all, but had been naturally overshadowed by the larger competitors. Mostly she was frustrated by his ignoring the very setting of the free for all, teaming up with people! They were supposed to treat each other like villains! Harrumph. But then, she herself had been the one to not make that an official rule, and... It was only natural to team up in a brawl like that! But stillll!
Angel was also a name she recognized. En." She nodded in affirmation. "Angel-senpai is definitely an impatient person! I mean, just look at how she fought in the festival!" Having the ability to harass from a distance and win smaller trades relying on her movements and skill, Angel was constantly moving in for finishing blows... And becoming punished for it. It wasn't a surprise to see that she had much the same attitude outside of combat! And with Mia being the number one hero- It was almost a surprise more people hadn't gone out of their way to request her? But... "Eto, that's interesting! I hadn't thought about being able to request a specific hero!" While it was still on the heroes to offer an internship! There was a mile of difference between being able to bother specific ones, and just waiting for them to contact you! And even the #1 hero could be pressured into accepting someone!
It was an epiphany which spelled unfortunate fates for those heroes Shouko wished to learn from.
"Eh, my quirk?" Shouko was caught off guard by the question. It was completely off kilter from the conversation. "Ah! Eto, it'd be easier to show than to explain, but... Outside of school, it's a bit... you know?" The fact that the several hundred kilos of stone she wore did not cause trouble on the train aside... "I have some leeway since it works in an unusual way, but I still shouldn't reveal it outside of school!" In fact, the only reason she was allowed to leave with it on, was because if she took it off, she wouldn't be able to restore it before the next day. And even that permission had been a fair struggle!
Besides which, stripping in this crowd would be... Eh, what would it be, again? Anyways, she would have to do her best to explain it with words. "Eto, so. My quirk is pretty simple! Overnight my body produces a sort of, cocoon of stone around me!" Naturally, she neglected the parts about it being her body's version of sweat. That wasn't important to anyone! Nor was the part where her roommate needed to crack it open so she could move each morning...
"Obviously I can't do much with it like that! So I carve it out into a more usable form! It's like..." How to describe it. "Well, the first thing is, it has to be open! Stone isn't flexible, you know? And you can't get those close fitting joints like a proper armor, it's just not feasible! Her armor had a wide open midriff because of this, with only her chest and lower half being covered. In exchange, she could bend almost as freely as she liked! "And the same with the legs, so instead of making it into pants, I make it into a skirt! But that's not all! See, by having so much of the material in the skirt, and it getting larger as it gets lower, the weight of the stone is all concentrated super low, right? So my center of gravity is way lower than a normal humans! Not to mention that it's like a permanent training weight!" Aside from being as tough as stone... Those two were the key points of her quirk? "In short, it's heavy!"
It wasn't really an adequate explanation by any means, but it was the best she could do without giving a demonstration!
The pro's words struck a chord with the girl. "En, like me!" She would exclaim. "Eto, my quirk acts like training weights, but it's not like Kirk-senpai or you! My muscles won't ever be stronger than a normal human! So it's all about how I use them, and the weight of my quirk! That's the basis of my martial style!" Though it wasn't as though she had no more room to grow quite yet. The human body was capable of quite a bit when you put your heart and your mind to it! "Eto, but even one of my stances is all about brute strength!" It was a style which she always had mixed feelings on. On the one hand- It represented the absolute peak of her physical strength! On the other hand, it was even more unwieldy than the fourth stance, which only worked when she had momentum built up.
Since the pro was clearly a bit put down by her own lacking 'skill,' Shouko did her best to reassure her! With both trying to reassure the other about their own shortcomings, it made for an interesting scene. "En. It's nowhere near your level, of course!" Let alone pushing through the storm, Shouko would be unlikely to win if she were to fight PKman! "But it's great as a finisher or for breaking through defense! It's just also more likely for people to dodge, since it's slower than my other moves." Each of her stances had their shortcomings. The first two stances less so- But the third and fourth were clear. The slowness of the third and the momentum requirement of the fourth. If she could work around those, her level would definitely take a step up!

“Reddarc? Second year? Not ringing a bell?” She’d ask, a little confused. Sure he seemed the kind to try and keep to himself but. “Blonde? Wears goggles all the time? Far as I can tell he doesn’t really go for the whole ‘hero costume’ thing either. Ring any bells?”
As far as Angel went, Mia gave a mild shrug. The kid had clearly held some issues. Heck the first time they met she basically blurted out her backstory to the heroine and Mia just didn’t know how to deal with that. She seemed like she’d matured a bit but was constantly seaking some form of validation which… okay fair enough, number 1 pro, might come with the territory, but also it meant Mia was left trying to keep the kid happy while not shitting them about with false praise. Given what Mia’s personal bar was that was both easy and tiring. On one hand she found anyone trying their all impressive, but when she was asked over and over…it just took it out of her.
“I wouldn’t say impatient but… she’s got some things to work on. Let’s leave it at that eh? Don’t wanna be badmouthing your classmates, senior or otherwise.” As for the requests- “I mean it’s basically fan mail, we don’t have to respond, but I mean, if theres a hero you think you’d learn a lot from, why not at least give it a try in your second year?”
Mia raised a hand when Shouko started getting nervous about their quirk being shown and simply said without a word it was okay, with the open hand gesture and just a simple nod letting her knew it was okay and the blonde didn’t mind not getting the full show. “Is cool. I’ll just catch it in action at the sports festival.”
Still, she got some explanation, her brow rising at the idea. Innately that didn’t sound like a good quirk, if anything it’d be a trap for most people, something they have to suffer through. “So… you basically turned your body’s own ‘earthy trap’ into some kind of armor? Real clever of ya kid…~” She smirked nice and wide, actually enjoying listening to people who did cool stuff like that with her quirk. Even if her own quirk was simple, the idea of people taking these gifts, or curses, and making something out of them? Always made her smile.
“And so by focusing the weight of all that stone, you’re shifting your… momentum…?” She spoke Japanese, but the unsurity of her tone showed she was unsure if she was using the right word in that language, and didn’t wanna bother Shouko by using English instead. “Yeah er, that. You make yourself harder to knock over but also if you shift with the new weights you can turn from defensive to offensive. Not gonna lie, if you grew up just carving all that stone off of yourself most days, that’s got to have been a steep learning curve, but hey I mean, almost a year at that school? I’d imagine all that stuff is second nature to ya by now.”

"Ohh! Red-senpai! Eto, I don't know him very well. He signed up for a training exercise I made, see? But there were 22 students there, so I didn't really see all that much of him!" She exclaimed. Honestly, her impression of Red wasn't the best... After all, she had explicitly stated that they should treat everyone else as a villain, right? But he kept going out of his way to team up with people! Even if he did end up kicking two of them to their defeat, which was way more in line with what she wanted! "En, I definitely made the field way too large. Next time, everyone should be up close from the beginning!" She would non-sequitur. But would there be a next time?
"Oh!" Shouko exclaimed. "I didn't mean to badmouth Angel-senpai at all!" She really hadn't! Impatience was just an observation of the sports festival match! En, that was her bad habit again. Even if she didn't think it was an insult, people would be offended by it... The girl reflected for once. It was this kind of behavior that had left her isolated in middle school, after all... But change wasn't so easy! Case in point, just now. Though she was certain that Red Horn was just being polite when she said that it wasn't the case... Above all things, the language of fists didn't lie! Angel-senpai was certainly an impatient person!
As for contacting a specific hero, Shouko could only nod vigorously. Yup! She would do exactly that! And more importantly, it took the conversation away from her accidental insult! "I wonder who I should ask... Eto, Serperior-sensei seems like a good choice! Does he even do internships, though?" She knew that the half-snake Hero was skilled in Aikido, as well as staff fighting... She wanted to see his technical skills in action! But, while she didn't say it out loud... When in front of a Hero, should she really be talking about what other heroes she'd rather intern with?
The girl still had a long road ahead of her if she was to master reading the mood.
"En. That's right!" Though she hardly called it a trap. It just was, you know? There was no such thing as a good quirk or a bad one! And it was fun to think of all the points she had just used to explain her battle dress, you know? "Exactly! It's like how Jiujitsu or Aikido use the opponent's mass against them, right? Except instead of throwing them, I throw myself!" Well, some of her moves, anyways. Others tended to be more straightforward. "Heh, of course, I can still give a nice throw if I need to!" It wasn't like she only had to use the principles in one way, or pretend that traditional skills didn't exist because she had a quirk to use!
"En. It's easier to get with a demonstration, but... You'll see it soon enough!" Sports festival was terrifyingly close. As for the other comment, a sheepish smile. Her stone carving skills were still far from ideal. "Ehehe..." No comment. But if Red Horn could see the battle dress beneath her clothes, it would be obvious that she was no artist. While the weight distribution was balanced somehow, the appearance was clearly assymetric... The same amount of material had been taken off each side, but where it came from was different! And even this was a significant upgrade from when she had first started carving it!
"It was definitely tough! Fortunately I started practicing as soon as I got my acceptance, right?" By the time she entered school, the battle dress was usable more days than it wasn't. "But that's not all! The momentum shifting is a huge part, but that's just my fourth stance, see? I still have three others!" There was that word, stance, again. Thus far, she had referred to two of them- One, which shifted momentum for power, and another, which specialized in brute force!

“Ah must just love goin’ by Red if you guys don’t know him by his full name. Hahaha!~” She let out a little chuckle at the idea, but ultimately it wasn’t like it was a foreign concept or anything. Mia definitely grew up with a type of crowd where she knew people far more by their nicknames than their real names, be they monikers, slang or just shortenings of their full name or the like. Whatever the case she knew for sure if she tried to look up some of her old friends at this stage, she’d have a hardass time as a fair chunk might have grown out of those old names.
“Good to hear he has at least some presence… although…” She folded her arms again and had a wide grin as she locked onto a bit of information. “Training exercise? They let the students come up with those? Teacher’s must be getting lazy.~” She teased, clearly no animosity about the idea in her voice, more just fishing for more details.
With Shouko thinking that Mia was calling them out for badmouthing their classmate, Mia raised her hands a little defensively and in a sort of ‘calm it’ gesture as she stated- “Oh no no I thought that’s what I was starting to do. I mean I stand by anything I said about her but at the same time I didn’t wanna come off like I was just crappin’ on the girl or nuttin’. I mean she’s got some talent but… needs some polish in other areas. Just wanted to stop myself before it seemed like I was going off on a rant about ‘er ya know?”
As Shouko mentioned who they might want to bump for an internship, Mia almost flinched. Not harshly so but there was still a sense of… well, her words said it best. “Ugh. Really? That guy?” She still seemed to be jolly about it, chuckling a little at the idea before giving a hefty shake of her head. “I mean don’t get me wrong the guy has his qualities but… always seemed a little stuck up his own ass for me. Pretty sure his fans sent me some hate mail too when I got announced more popular than him, but… eh I mean I can’t blame him for it but I really hope I ain’t breedin’ any fans like that.” She looked off in idle thought for a second… nah. Definitely not. She was more about lifting yourself up than dragging others down so you could climb atop them. “I dunno, I mean if you think there’s something you can learn from him? Go for it, just surprised is all.”
With Shouko continuing to explain her quirk, Mia couldn’t help but briefly burst out in some little laughs as they explained it as ‘throwing themselves’, the idea just creating a hilarious, if brief image in the Red Horned oni’s head. “Well that’s one way to put it I guess! But hey whatever works!~”
With more details came more curiosity, first and foremost Mia would give a simple “Aye, guess I will!~” When Shouko said she’d see soon enough, but listening to the rest she caught onto a detail. “So, you throwing your momentum, is that the same as your brutish stance or? I mean I imagine throwing all your weight behind an attack and then following it without resistance would end up pretty brutish?” She chuckled a little as she realized she was probably making this more confusing and took a step back. “Okay maybe a better question. What are all these stances. Mind listin’ ‘em out for me?”

Shouko would grin at the interest in her pride and joy. "En! If the students are interested in it, the teachers are happy to help!" Usually this was used to supplement the existing exercises, as few and far between as those were. Well, the first year was mostly an introduction to the program, after all. The practicals would really kick off next year, with the internship program! "Eto, but, they don't really approve of battle training so much." The girls eyes turned downward. Her favorite battles were the most regulated thing within UA, after all! Well, the school really wanted to emphasize that heroics was about more than fighting villains. Unfortunately, Shouko had long since set her eyes on the beauty of superpowered battles!
"I haven't given up yet, though! Next one will probably be smaller, but I haven't given up hope yet!" The girl's eyes yet gleamed with their usual glimmer. "Well, 22 people really was a one time thing! It was huge and chaotic and fun, but hard to keep track of everything going on! Even with people helping me film we missed a lot... Maybe six people would be better next time?" The girl mused, but... Only time would tell what she would end up advertising. "But that will be a story for after the festival!" Work before play, and all that! Maybe over break she'd put one up, advertising to the people who didn't do as well as expected? Ehehe.
Shouko didn't really get it. "Eh? But the truth is the truth, right? But ah! She's the one who needs to hear it, not me!" The girl would somehow come to a conclusion. The first step to solving a problem is knowing you have one! And to hear it from someone she respected like Red Horn would probably help accept it! Well, that part depended on Angel. Some people would get defensive when their flaws were pointed out, right? But it couldn't be helped! "My weaknesses... Eto..." The girl thought for a while, tapping a finger on her lower lip. "En!" An inspiration. Angel-senpai hadn't recognized her own issues, right? So wouldn't it be the same for herself? "I should try to ask peope!"
That said, she was relatively self aware. At least when it came to the issues in her training and fighting style. Commenting on the difficulty of maintaining momentum, balancing powerful blows with the ability to land them. And as well- "Range! Range is definitely a weakness! See, I don't really have anything but melee, so- If I can't close the distance, I'll definitely be in trouble!" The girl nodded. But that was a physical issue, and the ones they had been talking about were with personality and attitude! And in terms of those... She really didn't think she was anything odd?
Anyone who knew her, of course, would beg to differ. In the first place, most people wouldn't use the phrase, 'People aren't supposed to get hurt in a fight!' Unironically.
The comments on Serperior-sensei surprised the girl. "Eh, really?" She hadn't ever interacted with that hero, but... Was that really the case? "En, that's okay! He has the skills to back it up, you know!" But promptly decided to disregard it. Besides, she wouldn't blame him for the action of his fans! People did all sorts of stuff under the banner of anonymity... As an internet content creator, she knew that much! "I know how to deal with trolls!" Was her confirmation that Serperior's fanbase wouldn't be able to stop her! That said, based on internbet discussions of Red Horn... Shouko's eyes glanced to the side at the hero's concern of having fans like that.
And therefore, she quickly changed the subject! "En! There aren't a lot of pro heroes who focus on their martial arts like that! So there'll be a lot for me to learn from him!" Conversely, this implied that Red Horn wouldn't be able to teach her as much- Breaking through head-on like that just wasn't something Shouko could do or even wanted to! However, she was hardly the type to consider this herself, busy thinking about what other pros she could learn from. "Yellow Jacket-sensei also uses Savate! She'd make a good choice too! Eto, eto, who else... Ah, Aquitaine-sensei is skilled too!"
But all this lost steam before the discussion of her quirk and fighting style itself. "Ah, not really! Eto, eto... To start from the beginning! I have four stances. Those two are the heavy form stances, where I use a bit more weight by... Ah, I forgot to mention! One of the things about my quirk, I can activate at will! Well, the only one, really, is that I can encase my arms in stone clubs! So those two stances are the heavier stances, where my arms are encased and practically double my weight!" Each club was about half the weight of her battle dress, keeping the ensemble balanced. That's why the latter two stances were known as heavy!
"Eto, the brute strength one is both heavy form and heavy stance, so it goes something like... Wham, Bam, Smack!" The girl gave onomatopoeia as she mimed the moves of her heaviest stance- Arm straight out, slamming in from above, or from the side. "But momentum is more of a... Whiing! Shwang! feeling! She dutifully mimed this as well, swinging not only her arm, but her entire body! "Ahaha, as expected, it's not so easy to demonstrate like this!"
But she did nod at the hero's assessment. "En! A huge advantage of my Yaogun is that the stances can fold into each other at any time! I can combo them at will... Though, some moves combo better than others!" The brutish third stance, for example, was best as a finisher, as it's slowness impacted the ability to chain in other moves. But, by merely planting her feet, she could stop conserving momentum, and slam her club into the target with her full force!
As for the first two stances... "En, and then there's the light two stances! Light form and light stance, is something like this!" A quick display of shadowboxing would come out, a flurry of blows in the air. "While light form and heavy stance is more of a..." Her feet would suddenly plant, body lowering like a wrestler. The rapid blows would slow to a crawl, but it was clear that what lacked in speed was more than made up for in force! "En, like that! See, by combining the light and heavy forms, and light and heavy stances, I can make full use of what I have!"

Mia definitely felt some odd feeling of… encouragement? Probably the wrong word but close enough. Either way it was a positive feeling hearing that students could arrange their own courses and the like if a teacher gave approval, and by the sounds of things if they weren’t against what could potentially be such a clusterfuck, they must be open to a lot more ideas too. Generally it was just good to see them being so open minded to new ideas like that. “Smaller sounds better, at least if you wanna limit the risk of people teaming up or hiding it out till the end of the game. Sounds like the sorta things that’d have happened in a 20 plus person rumble. Am I right?”
She’d try not to harp on Angel anymore, but Shouko was right. Even if Mia didn’t feel she was the right person to tell the girl she needed to hear what she could improve on from someone eventually but… eh. Problem for another day. As Shouko offered their own weaknesses, and combined with something they’d say a little later in that they could form the stone of their clubs at will, Mia would get a small idea. Really she didn’t know if it could work but- “Huh… you ever considered some gear to resolve that? I dunno how it could work but I know you guys got smarties in your support class. Maybe you could er…” She’d think on how to word it, lifting an arm and gesturing over it with her other hand to try and present the idea.
“Maybe some gauntlet or something? The stone grows around it, and in the right circumstances the gauntlet bursts open to break it from within and fire the stone in a direction?” She’d shrug idly. “I dunno. Probably doesn’t work with your quirk but thought I’d offer the idea.”
With the Serperior talk, Mia just shrugged. “Yeah I mean his fans don’t bother me and I can’t blame him REALLY, I just… I dunno. Until I get to talk to the guy myself I’m not gonna have the best impression of him is all I’m trying to say, but hey if you can learn something from him, you do you. Personally I’d go with Yellow Jacket but I ain’t exactly the type to judge either way.”
Watching Shouko make the best display of her stances that she could given the circumstances (resisting the urge to chuckle at some of the sound effects) Mia took in what she could from the display, nodding along gently as she really tried to visualize what it’d be like in combat. Given a lot of it was unique to her and her quirk Mia would hold more interest than a typical martial arts display, but there was still that internal sense of ‘is this all necessary’ blaring in the back of her head. Not enough to put the words out but the idea was still there as it was with every other display. For Mia this’d all be… brute force and instinct. Seeing it brought to some form of art or trained form just flew over her head a little. Still… as an extension of quirk use, she could find some interest in it.
“I… see.” She spoke, trying her best to follow along but again, some of it was definitely going over her head. “I mean if it works out for you fair enough, but I’m definitely gonna wanna see if I can grab a view of that in action at the sports festival. You better be signing up for the tournament this year.~” She teased with a playful smile.

Shouko smiled, as the pro hero's thoughts coincided with her own. "En! Though finding a place to lick your wounds after a close bout... Isn't that also interesting in a way? Like Sir Dark healing himself before facing One Spring Blossom!" The girl was clearly referencing something, but who knew what. "Nyeeh, and even teaming up is a valid strategy! Even if I did try to discourage it... En, but who pays attention to cutscenes, anyways?" Shrugged the girl who clearly thought it was all in good fun. Even if her carefully crafted (Read: 5 minutes of thinking) backstory had been completely ignored. "Ah, that gives me an idea! Heehee. Ah, but that would be 12 people... Maybe I'll hold off on that." As usual, she was in her own little world.
Shouko laughed at the pro's suggestion- So similar to ones she had heard time and time again! "Nyahaha, welllll... Ah, no, I'm not laughing at you! It's just that seems to be the first thing everyone thinks of! But uh... Well, I can't really wear a gauntlet, you see? Since the stone grows from my skin, if there's something covering it... It either goes pop, or I go crack!" It was a very onomatopoeiatic description, but got the point across. She gestured to her own clothes. "These are special! It may not look like it, but it's folded from a single piece of cloth! So even when I expand... All that happens is it unfolds!" She explained proudly, as she tightened the sash just a tad. To be on the safe side.
"En. Besides, that aside. Isn't it romantic? Standing against villainy with nothing but the skills you honed yourself! Well, and your quirk, of course. En. If I reach the limit of what I can do with my body, I'll consider it... But right now, I just want to see how far I can take what I have now!" Gear was... Not out of the question. Especially if it was cool! But she had so much room left to grow, that she hardly paid it a second thought.
The choice between Serperior and Yellow Jacket, mm... "En, they're both really skilled! Nyahaha, the Support class has some good teachers!" It was clear that the girl was not taking the pro's words on the matter seriously. Both pros were extremely skilled at their respective styles! "Of course, the best of all would be to learn from both!" There were some students who interned under multiple heroes... Right? She was pretty sure she had heard of something like that. Well, that was a question for next year!
As should not be surprising, the hero hardly had thoughts on her explanations. Between the inability to truly demonstrate, and the other's lack of experience in such matters... Bah. But Shouko wasn't ready to give up just yet! "En, it's the kind of thing better seen than heard!" She reiterated. Pesky laws, keeping her from showing off properly.
The hero reitereated her request that Shouko enter the tournament, but the girl either had forgotten that it was asked before or simply didn't care... "En! If I'm not the first one on the list, it's because I overslept!" Came the enthusiastic affirmation. "Everyone's been training really hard, I can't wait to see what they turn up with!" Of course, she was included in that! But she already knew what she could do... It was everyone else she was excited for!
"And I'll be putting this to good use!" The girl added, suddenly, while patting her camera. "They can't have all the events at the same time! And even beforehand! I'll be sure to get all the footage I can, to see what I can learn from! Eto, for example, your strength! I might not have the muscles you do... But there's still a lot in how you use them!" Even if the pro hero didn't notice it herself. The instinctive movements she made to optimize the force of each blow, each step, each block taken head on! She grinned. "Even if there's not much to say, that doesn't mean there isn't a lot to learn! My Heavy stances could use just that kind of brute force to up their game!" Well. That much was a mere guess... But at this point, Shouko would take any inspiration she could!

Mia’s brow raised as Shouko talked more about her… she assumed it was all related to the class she’d helped host and the plans she had for ones going forward but wow Mia could not keep up with some of the things she was trying to say, and just tried to politely nod along without interrupting her or anything, just listening quietly.
“Yeah that’s fair enough.” She returned to the idea of the gauntlet not working, but still- “I dunno though, maybe something’ll come about… some material or something that suppresses your quirk where the gauntlet touches so the rock grows AROUND it I dunno I ain’t a scientist.” She let out a chuckle and shook her head. It seemed like a cool idea to her but hey if it didn’t work it didn’t work. “Fair enough on those clothes though. Pretty minimalistic costume myself.” She stepped back and looked down over herself. “Roomy pants, and these bindings are just a tube top made to look like bandages. Main thing they got going for them is I think most of them can still hold themselves together even if I take a few bullets. Hardly gonna be as effective if I’m running around naked cause I had to run through a fire or some shit afterall!~”
As Shouko talked about it being romantic, Mia couldn’t help but smirk a little cheekily. “I dunnooooo… way you described me I almost came off like a bit of an unimpressive bore.~” She smirked wide, clearly just teasing her and not offended or anything.
With the talk of learning from both Mia gave an idle shrug. “I mean why not? You got a full year to get internship activities done. Plenty of time to work with both of them if you manage yourself right~” She offered a warm smile and a casual shrug as she added. “Hey maybe I’ll be impressive enough to internship with by the end of the year.~ Ya never know~ Hahahah~”
With Shouko seeming to pay her a compliment in a form as their little meeting seemed to be coming to a wrap, Mia stepped forward and ruffled the girl’s hair atop her head with a wide smile. “Well make sure you take what you can from it I guess. I love seeing you kids pull off some cool shit at that tournament.” With that, she’d start to step away, giving a two fingered salute off the side of her horn. “I best be getting back on patrol. I assume you don’t need a lift back to UA or anything kid?”

Shouko smiled brightly. "En! Though we're not trying to suppress it... Eto, Karirin said a lot of things that hurt my head... But! Basically, we're getting me clothes that my quirk seeps through before it hardens, so I can wear something under it! The school insisted, for some reason." The girl pouted, it was clear she didn't really get the decision. However, it was highly inevitable that during the course of the festival, the hero would see exactly why the school cared so much- Without it, when Shouko's armor was destroyed... You can imagine the rest. Rather, it's amazing it was let slide for so long! Most likely because it had never been an issue until recently, despite the brunette's frequent visits to the training rooms for sparring.
As far as her clothes went, Shouko's battle dress was relatively durable! Of course, it came with the aforementioned downside of being gone once it was gone... She could totally understand the hero's concern about it! Even if she didn't get why it was such a bad thing in the first place... But she had too much else on her mind to bring that awkward question up now!
Shouko laughed at the pro hero's teasing. "Nyahaha, but there's a romance in boredom too! You don't get thrilled by action just because you know the hero's gonna win in the end, right? Even if it takes half a season and three training montages!" Well, at least that reference was slightly more generic and so less confusing. En, and Shouko loved a good training montage!
As for internships... Mia confirmed it! Why should she pick and choose, when she could pick... All of the above! That devious grin widened. "En, you're right! I can do both! And more! Nyahaha, maybe I'll intern with everyone! ...Would that be too much?" Yes, Shouko. Yes it would. Other people need internships too, you know!
But in the end, there wasn't much left to say. Her hair still mussed up from the rustling, Shouko would beam back- "Nope! I should still have time to hit up Osamu-ossan before he closes!" She wouldn't want to keep a pro from patrolling! But there was unlikely to be a scene as big as this for a while, so Shouko would make do with what she had! Making a... Sloppy version of the other's salute, Shouko bounded away while calling backwards- "Sayonara!"
