Are You... Holding Out For a Hero~?
❝ Let’s see what we have here… Humming softly as she lifted her phone up off her nightstand and began to thumb through it, the bedroom of the blonde beauty known as Grace Gilbert was not looking particularly tidy as she lifted the covers off her bed and revealed the rather small amount of sleepwear she had been sporting for rather a sizeable lie in on her day off. Decked out in little more than a loose shirt and her underwear as she shifted her position and lifted the laptop computer she had been looking at first thing away from her, the long and smooth legs she possessed folded over one another as she shot another glance toward the news article that had caught her eye first thing, and the girl found herself frowning at the words she saw. There we go, knew I’d grabbed it somewhere here… Certainly not finding herself terribly impressed as she had thumbed her way through headlines and articles that mentioned the idea of making people with quirks pay more just to live and even less thrilled when yet another piece called for an end to the ‘great mistake’ that was the Hero Program in light of the events in Shinigawa, rather than feel disheartened by the blind eyes and cutting opinions of certain reporters, instead Grace felt herself invigorated by them. In a certain manner of speaking, of course. “Hey? It’s Grace…” Not the type of girl who tended to like hearing bad press but all the more the sort of soul who preferred getting ‘even’ over getting mad, though a part of her was seething as she plucked a name from her contact list that she had managed to grab more recently and dialled it, Miss Gilbert attempted to curb the sound of it in her voice as she spoke to someone that for one reason or another she didn’t doubt would see things the same way she did. And she hoped, with any luck by the time she was done, the smug buggers who liked to spawn nasty headlines would be smiling on the other side of their face when she was done… @tag | Word Count: 360 | Apparently my images are too spicy?

With Christmas in her family a nice excuse to get together Mia was making sure she had everything ready for the day. She’d made sure to get a tonne of presents for the members of her family living in Japan and she hoped to arrive on the day with a literal sackload over her shoulder. She just needed to pick up the costume, the sack, and wrap all the damn things with what…very little personal time she had for the season. It was a pain to say the least. Christmas could be hell or a relief depending on what line of work you flowed through. For call centers who dealt with technical issues and the like tended to get quieter as people bought a lot of products they wouldn’t be using till several weeks later, while people in toy stores and the like tended to see hell on earth every day.
Mia was in the latter category. With so much money flowing through the streets and people desperate to please their families, crime was rampant. Some areas got the Christmas cheer and saw a dip in crime, while it escalated wildly in others. It was a depressing thing to see for sure but… the reality of the situation was very much this. Mia did her best to be merciful on her beatdowns where she could, she knew the desperation these people were suffering through, but the law was the law, and she quite literally had a job to do.
A night of work deserved some deep sleep, and the moment Mia got back home and managed to get out of her hero costume, she crashed into her re-enforced bed as bare as the day she was born, letting the cool air of an open window wash over her overworked body as she slept…
In turn, waking up to a deep chill across her back and the sound of a Satelite by Rise against, Mia’s red eyes peered open as her paw loosely patted away at her bedside, not finding her phone and reaching further and further with a groan until she managed to roll off her bed entirely, sighing deeply through her nose as she felt her phone beneath her, realizing she must have left it in her hero pants.
Lifting the phone to her ear, she’d pinch the bridge of her nose as she tried to push herself awake, a deep groan leaving her lips as she answered. “Hey you’re through to Mia and if you’re calling to tell me I don’t have the day off I-“ Her slightly bitter tone was cut short as she realized exactly who was calling, letting out a more relaxed breath and laying her arm over her stomache as she held her phone to her ear with the other, just letting herself wake up while laying on the floor for now as she took in the voice of the graceful woman she’d met during the lead up to Shinagawa. “Oh hello beautiful…to what do I owe the pleasure of your delicious tones this mornin?”

Are You... Holding Out For a Hero~?
❝ “Pfffffffft!” Finding herself stifling a chuckle at the answer she was given upon hearing Mia pick up the phone, of all the ways in which she might have expected her new acquaintance to answer the phone, that was one way Miss Gilbert hadn’t predicted. Though certainly funny. “Sounds like you just can’t get a day off, huh hot stuff~?” At least sympathetic as to the plight of the number one hero and only wondering what her fellow femme had been up to or at least just how much she had been in demand lately, as the tone of the woman on the other end of the phone softened and became just a little bit honeyed the blonde couldn’t help but smile as she shifted slightly on her bed and ran her free hand back through her hair, before offering a little sympathy in her words. “Oh, you know, I was just lying in bed and I couldn’t help but think about you~?” The woman on the line certainly seeming to sound like she was in need of a little distraction, as Grace shifted to get a little more comfortable on her bed by lying herself down on her back as she spoke, she couldn’t help but smirk and let loose a little purr of flirtation toward her fledgling friend as she did so. “I mean here I am all alone, and you’re there with those big strong arms somewhere else~” Their first encounter seeming to be something of a hit and miss affair in terms of innuendo but ultimately the hint of attraction that the violet eyed vixen felt toward the woman on top enough to make her think the Red Horn was worth a second shot at a bit of spiciness, while she had hit her number up with plans outside an inclination toward grabbing a nice spot of super powered steaminess, she at least left that option in the air if the other woman wanted to have a stab at it. After all, never say never… @tag | Word Count: 337 | Apparently my images are too spicy?

“Yeah well…number 1 hero. They gotta get my face out there what with all this tax shit going on. I swear I’m doing more work for them and technically getting paid less for doing it too… but hey can’t say too much.” She’d smirk in her tone before whispering sarcastically. “They might be listenin’~” She’d chuckle to herself, honestly joking as she pushed herself off the ground to sit up, shifting to lay her back into the wooden frame of her bed and just roll her neck along her shoulders as she let herself loosen up a little, idly thinking about breakfast even as they talked.
“Yeah of course you where.” She’d tease right back, but still waking up even the teasy tone of her voice might have seemed a little tired. She was clearly making an effort but Mia wasn’t typically one to hide her moods and right now she was still in that groggy waking up state, rising to her feet as she started to head to the kitchen, not bothering to grab any clothes, grabbing an apron from a stand by the kitchen as she got ready to make herself the usual Mia Morning Munchies… and by munchies she meant an absolute mountain of breakfast food.
“Well as much as I’d loooove to come round and give a woman like you my attention I’m afraid it’s a little chill out for the journey.~” You could almost hear the playful wink in her words alone as she started up her stove and through a few strips of bacon in the pan before working on cutting the strings between her sausages, quick as a wicket with a trained hand for the art as she made sure to get into her usual routine, so engrained in her habits that she didn’t even need to look at what she was doing. “So come on, what do I really owe the pleasure to? I mean I’m happy to play a little cat and mouse as we talk but ya don’t call a girl first thing in the morning for a booty call. That’s usually a last thing of the night kinda deal.~ Maybe your lunch break at work if yer really frisky!~” She’d chuckle a little down the line as the sizzling of her sausages was added to the background noise, a ding of her pan too as she cracked some eggs against the rim of a bowl.

Are You... Holding Out For a Hero~?
❝ “Oh, it’s such a chore to be popular, isn’t it~?” Smirking at the complaints of Miss Kearney, while Grace might have aimed to be a bit more sympathetic toward some, if she had the ‘measure’ of the Red Horn right she expected that the woman was not the sort to throw parties to pressure others into pity. “You know you can always send a few of those photo opportunities my way~” Instead letting loose a playful little shot that was aimed more to make the woman at the other end smirk and roll her eyes more than insult her, the blonde in the bed reckoned that her buddy from work would appreciate a bit of playful banter to take her mind of her stress more than an agony aunt filled with empty platitudes and fake sympathy, or at least had more fun thinking this would be the case. “Aw, straight to business? Not even going to ask me what I’m wearing?” Perhaps a little of the stress that not-so-little Miss Numero Uno was under showing as she seemed to urge Miss Gilbert to get to the point, even though she knew that Mia couldn’t see her through the phone without turning on some vicarious video function the violet vixen still pouted as she was pushed along in the conversation, and among other things was starting to suspect that the woman at the other end of the line was not as much fun as she was led to believe. “Gosh, I’m starting to think I’m losing my sex appeal here~” Certainly carrying a certain level of skill for what her fellow American could do but finding herself disappointed with the racier aspects of their connection thus far, maybe it was simply a case of a clash of personality or personal taste, but a woman so disposed toward flirtation as this particular flying fox couldn’t help but feel there was a sense of wasted opportunity between them because of that. “Well, it’s kinda something to do with what you mentioned just now…” Ultimately deciding that she probably should get down to business however much it seemed to rub her ego up the wrong way to do so without a little delicious dalliance before it, Grace gave a soft sigh as she moved onto matters of more importance and rolled over onto her side as she did so, using her free hand to toy with the laptop computer she had rested beside her. “The Quirk tax and all those things on the news seem to have hero hate building like a snowball on the rocky mountains, and I might an idea to nudge that in a more harmless direction?” By no means happy to look at those rotten headlines again but at the very least finding them inspiring enough to sober her up that bit more, as she got down to business rather than pleasure the blonde hummed softly as she decided to enlighten her companion toward her aim, and hopefully also enlist her help in achieving it as well… @tag | Word Count: 502 | Apparently my images are too spicy?

“Uuuugh Don’t I know it. Starting to think this pro hero thing is more of a pain than it’s worth.” She started, being a little more honest on the matter than flirty. It was true though. With the whole number one hero just being a popularity contest it really had been more pain than benefit. If it was based on her take down record or civilian rescues she could at least hold some ego in it, but anyone could be popular… that was no real victory when you got down to it. “I won’t drag you down with my musings though. I’ll be sure to hit you up though if they take any nice shots of my abs while I’m cutting ribbons on a new bridge or some crap. Ehehehe!~” She chuckled along, teasing at how the government would want official shots like that, while Grace would likely be wanting something a little more explicit.
“Oh I mean if you’re willing to share.~” She’d tease back as Grace teased about what she was wearing, Mia shaking her head with a chuckle as she turned over some of the bacon, liking to get it with a nice bit of a crispy crunch but still have the flavour locked into the fatty tail end of each strip. With the number of breakfasts she’d made her one night stands, or herself before a day of work, a greasy breakfast like this was an art for her in every step she took with it. “I mean come on now, you started it, may as well pull through. What’s that hot, curvaceous blonde wearing today? You better have something special on after teasing me like that. Can’t just set it up and not expect me to knock it down.~” She’d flip one of the eggs and briefly harden the other side before sliding it onto a plate, the yoke in the center still nice and gooey, but with both sides now having a finely cooked coating so Mia could bite into the egg without it just completely falling apart.
Her expression shifted a little as Grace did seem to get a little more serious, and Mia just let out a deep sigh as she rubbed the back of her neck, turning her back against the kitchen counter while her food just needed a moment to sizzle away and cook properly without her direct attention. “Ah the quirk tax is fucked and we all know it, but shit like this passes. You just gotta… deal with reality as it is in my experience. It takes time but we’re a new breed. Eventually quirks’ll become the norm and shit like this won’t fly but… we just gotta ride it out.”
It was Mia’s view on the matter. Bleak maybe but she was a very ‘roll with the punches’ type. The world wasn’t perfect, but you could be content with what it gave ya if you lived your life right. “Buuuuut… in saying that. I’m all ears. I don’t exactly want my job to get cut so… what’s your brilliant idea blondie?”

Are You... Holding Out For a Hero~?
❝ “Oh gosh, got your attention with that one didn’t I~?” Smirking as she managed to derail the business-like manner of Mia with her flirtatious behaviour, though Miss Gilbert was well aware of the fact that they had plenty of important things to discuss, she couldn’t help but find herself rather distracted by the topic of image. Especially when she was baited into it. “Well, they say a picture tells a thousand words, so…” What was at first a playful little joke turning into something rather more risqué as the blonde found her bluff being called, since she was rarely the type to step away from a challenge but totally the sort who loved to show off, all too quickly Grace was stepping over to the full body mirror she had in her room and lining up her phone to capture her ‘morning glory’ as it were, replete with a slightly messy bed head and a nice pout just like those girls online loved to sport. But that wasn’t all. “Hopefully that should brighten your morning a little~” Making sure to leave her cream shirt hanging off her shoulder as she pulled her phone in front of her and peeled her shirt up to her hip just enough to show off the scantest hint of the lacy set of black underwear she was wearing, the blonde could help but smirk and found her heart racing that bit quicker as she sent the snap shooting down the telephonic connection between them, and could only imagine the face of the femme at the other end of the line when she saw it. Hopefully, it would be a good one. Or even better, a lewd one. “Good gracious, how can you expect a girl who can soar through the skies to wait around for the tides and seasons to change?” Slumping back onto her bed once she was done and finding herself reminded a little bit of why she hadn’t sent a line down to Mia in the intervening period when she found herself once again confronted by that ‘go with the flow attitude’ that for one reason or another didn’t seem to quite agree with her, whilst she could have wasted time expressing her enduring disappointment with such an attitude, on this occasion Miss Gilbert chose not to. “I prefer to get involved, and give things a little ‘nudge’ where I can?” Instead only offering her own approach as reasoning for her call because she decided that getting into a debate over their respective viewpoints would only set them back further than she’d really like, while it was fine in the mind of this violet eyed vixen to dawdle a little with flirtation, right not she had fatter fish to fry in regard to professional responsibility and their role in society. “And I’ve got a little notion about how to give this particular situation one, if you’re willing to meet up with me somewhere later on?” Not quite ready to reveal the wholeness of her plan and part of that reason simply because it felt more fun to do so as they went along, though Grace knew she was probably asking for a lot of the Red Horn to meet up with her on faith she hoped that the juicy little bit of bait she would leave out would be enough to convince her, and if it wasn’t the picture she sent probably wouldn’t hurt either. “It’s about time we gave the news a reason to celebrate us, wouldn’t you say…?” This the type of topic that felt best to be tackled in person and in a weird way it feeling like it might be worth more if they did so as well, the golden haired gal was eager to meet up with her workmate and see if they couldn’t hash something out together and maybe grow a little closer as a result as well, but ultimately it was all in the hands of the woman at the other end of the phone. One could only hope she didn’t have other plans for her day off… @tag | Word Count: 690 | Apparently my images are too spicy?

Mia just let out a cheeky chuckle down the line as Grace seemed to grab the line Mia had tossed out there with her tease, the blonde woman rolling her eyes with a deep sigh and continuing to work idly on her breakfast even as she expected the image coming in, chuckling even as it came through. The fellow heroine definitely made for a nice view but Mia was barely awake herself, so maybe she’d appreciate it a little more fully later. She briefly considered just carrying the conversation but… eh. Tit for tat. She’d lift her own phone and without posing much just took a shot of herself grinning up at the camera with it aiming down at her, presenting the apron she was wearing and, from this angle, probably looking like she was wearing nothing else given the top down view, hitting send back. “Well fair is fair, here’s what I’m wearing.~” She responded a little cheekily, clearly a little low on energy, but the sizzling sound of bacon said that’d soon be fixed in due time.
“Don’t worry though, it definitely helped my morning. Maybe not as much as my breakfast will but it certainly did a good job.” She’d comment back down the line, scooping her eggs onto some bread and layering up a few breakfast sandwhiches to go with the mountain of meat and carbs she was making anyway, scooping up her plate and balancing the phone against her shoulder as she moved to her couch, flicking the news on but keeping it on a low volume so as not to disturb the call, opting to just read the scrolling news at the bottom of the screen to see if she was missing anything important today. She never was a fan of the news but… helped her get a good idea of what sort of crimes she might be in for that day.
As Grace explained she wanted to give everything a little nudge she had Mia’s attention. Mia was all for taking action but only if it seemed like it’d actually do something. When it came to a fight she’d slam herself against a brick wall over and over till it broke because she knew, with her might behind herself, she could break it in due time. With politics and the more finicky laws and rules of the system, she knew there was little she could do, so why risk it all when she’d end up losing everything in the effort to change things on that level. If Grace had an idea she could get behind, something that might work… she’d be all in. “Oh yeah? And where you lookin’ to meet to discuss this magical idea?~”
She’d give a deep bite into one of her tasty, yokey sandwhiches, doing the courtesy of pulling the mic away a little as she chewed, the potential idea from the fellow heroine having her almost on the edge of her seat, more than eager to do what she could to try and fix this bullshit quirk world view sooner rather than later, so long as she had any notion it might work.

Are You... Holding Out For a Hero~?
❝ “Ooooof, you look like quite the sexy little homemaker huh~?” A slow smile spreading over the face of Miss Gilbert as she looked over the image she had apparently ‘swapped’ for, as she lifted her phone back up and offered a coyly spoken compliment for the image she had seen, the blonde had to admit she had been impressed by what she had seen. “Say, if you ever wanna give this whole hero lark up, I might see my way to making an honest woman of you?” Definitely feeling a physical attraction toward Mia before this but this the first time she saw the woman look that bit more feminine or even ‘cute’ in her sexiness, though she was joking with the offer of proposal the violet eyed vixen certainly saw her work buddy in a new light thanks to the sizzling little snap she had been sent, and couldn’t help but feel a hint of curiosity about seeing what more there was to this element of such a rough and tough tomboy type. “Somewhere in town would be best, really… Near the shops?” The brow of the beauty knotting slightly when it came to the topic of venue next, as she vocally summoned her mental map of Tokyo in order to figure out where the two should meet up, Grace gave a little verbal nudge toward her potential ‘accomplice’ as she muttered to herself and tried to remember her way around the capital city of the land in which she now lived. A bit rusty on the layout really given how she had spent only a number of weeks living in the place since moving up here in the wake of the event in Shinigawa, while the mighty metropolis in the east was a place that she had visited a ton of times as a girl and she expected herself to know it better because of that, and was perhaps a little disappointed that she felt so sluggish in recalling the layout. “Oh, I know... I’ll text you the address?” Still capable of coming up with a meeting spot despite her fuzzy memory, with a locale in mind for a little meet up the minx was ready for her day, for the most part at least. Still perhaps a little hungry since she hadn’t eaten and that topic not helped by the fact that she knew Mia was eating right now, Miss Gilbert would shortly hang her line up and grab clothes and something to eat, before heading out to get her little plan underway… @tag | Word Count: 423 | Apparently my images are too spicy?

Chuckling to herself as she shifted which shoulder she was balancing her phone on, she focused on getting her food down her gullet between her chuckles, oozing yolk dripping down into the plate she was holding as she stacked most of the shit she’d made into toast sandwhiches, groaning deeply at the deliciousness of the gooey mess she’d made and the light crunch of the sausage skin as it had a nice bit of crisp to it, and that flavorful chunk of fat at the end of every strip of bacon. It was truly a tasty little bit of heaven. “Mmm. Sorry. Couldn’t catch what you were saying there. I was biting into my breakfast.” As she caught the bit about Grace saying she’d make an honest woman out of her, she almost laughed up most of her food again but managed to hold it all in my pressing her forearm against her mouth. “I think I’m good there thanks. Last person who gave me that offer found their nose embedded in their face so you may wanna leave me a free bird.”
“Yeah sure that works.” She’d respond to both aspects of Grace’s ‘directions’, finishing up the call with a quick “I’ll catch ya in about an hour once I got my shit sorted then.” And hanging up the line, placing the phone beside her, finishing up her greasy breakfast sandwhich and licking the plate clean of meat flakes and spilled yolke when she headed towards the kitchen to clean up. With the address texted to her, she’d grab a simple white shirt, an open plaid shirt and some torn up jeans with some thick but loose-laced boots, heading out into Tokyo to go meet the fellow heroine.
She’d casually walk across the streets of Tokyo, her thin clothes not too bad in the winter air thanks to her naturally thick skin, arriving at the address Grace had texted her and looking around for the other heroine.

Are You... Holding Out For a Hero~?
❝ “Wowee~!” The fact that her target was about ten foot two with a bright red horn making it rather a lot easier for Grace to pick her friend out of a crowd than most, after clapping her eyes upon the monolith of a madam the west coast minx couldn’t help but let out a cry that reflected her amazement at what her fellow femme was wearing in place of a greeting, and quickly followed up with a line that by this time was likely a ‘trademark’ of their continuing conversation. “I suppose when you’re that hot, december can hardly touch ya, right?” Smiling as she looked over the big and beautiful woman and not entirely disliking that whole ‘rugged and ready’ look she was sporting, though she teased the titanic temptress over the seasonal skimpiness of her choice, the blonde liked what she was looking at and hoped that her opposite number felt the same way as well. “So generous of you to meet me~” Perhaps not dressed quite as brazenly as Mia because a girl from sunny Santa Monica really did not tolerate the heat so well, despite this Miss Gilbert had done her best to flaunt herself where she could, and had turned up for this little gathering in a knitted white sweater and sheathed her long and shapely legs within a pair of faux leather pants that were tight enough that someone might have been forgiven for making the mistake of assuming that they had been sprayed upon her. The ensemble completed with a simple set of high heeled boots and a salmon coloured coat, atop her head she wore not her typical tied up ponytail but rather a lovely little knitted cap she had found in one of her various shopping trips, and found for the most part far too cute to regularly step out without in seasons such as this. “I know asking you here with little explanation was a mite unbecoming of a lady of my station~” Not fully understanding exactly why she put on airs a little around the beautiful beast before her but perhaps this factor prompted by how readily the woman looked down to earth, with a sense of playful snobbery in her tone Grace offered her thanks for the faith shown by her friend, and despite her manner was actually quite appreciative of it really. “But I tend to prefer the face to face approach… mostly~” Finding that she was not always the easiest girl to convey the more delicate aspect of her emotions and as such that probably why she was more prone to clowning around in this aspect, as the violet eyed vixen tossed a little wink toward the woman she had met and then marched toward the destination she sought, she would begin her explanation as to their purpose for being here. That is, of course, assuming her burly buddy would follow after her, that was…

Mia rolled her eyes gently as she heard Grace from down the path, sinking her hands into the pockets of her open flannel shirt, as it had angled pockets like a hoodie or tracksuit. “Yeah yeah, flattery will get you everywhere and all that lark.” She teased back, starting to realize Grace didn’t seem to have an off switch with this sort of stuff. As much as Mia could be for the teasing cat and mouse stuff, in the end she was a pretty straight forward, no nonsense girl, so while she was definitely amused she didn’t have the energy or the wit to continue this indefinitely. “Really I’d count it to the thick skin but like…” She idly lifted the side of her flannel shirt up, quirking a brow as she looked over it and the shirt beneath. “Is this really doin’ it for ya? I look like a lumberjack the day after laundry day.” She chuckled a little, more trying to tease that she was rocking the butch look only without the dirt and grime usual.
She’d smirk idly with her hands in her pockets as she said it was generous to meet her, and she bowed her head with a mild bit of dramatacism, arms stretching out, still in her pockets and making it flow out a little like a cape, showing that even for her size it was a pretty loose and comfortable fitting piece of clothing. “The pleasure’s all mine gravity queen.” She teased back a little. “You look pretty cute yourself by the way.” She smiled, gesturing from one of her pockets over the other woman. Her tone was a little too calm to be teasing, aiming for a more genuine compliment.
She narrowed her gaze a little as the woman tried to playfully seem a bit pompous. “Lady of your- bitch I outrank you.” She didn’t hold much weight in the popularity rankings of the public polls but she could hang them over everyone else for a light joke here or there.
Catching on to the pervy joke she gave another playful roll of her eyes and started to follow behind the winking femme fatale ahead of her, keeping her hands in her pockets. Even with the internal heat of her muscles and quirk her thick skin only handled so much afterall so best to keep them in her pockets where she could. “So what’s the grand plan then?”

Are You... Holding Out For a Hero~?
❝ “What can I say~?” Smirking and cocking her head as her companion questioned the effect of her lumberjack style, though for the most part Grace was joking about the ‘heat’ she saw in the outfit of the titanic texan, as she looked the woman over she had to confess that her fellow blonde did not look half bad rocking such a tough, tomboyish ensemble at all. “Sometimes a girl like me can't help but fancy a bit of rough~?” The number really playing the strengths of the Red Horn, it was easy for the violet eyed vixen to remember her attraction to that sturdy frame when it was accentuated in such a masculine fashion, and even though she had earlier found herself quite charmed by the rare display of femininity that her friend showed, ultimately it was the image she appreciated most about such a burly beauty. Like a bisexual girl’s dream, really. “Aw, in these old rags~?” Smiling and batting her lashes playfully when she too was in receipt of a compliment, though ‘cute’ was something that a seductress of her calibre rarely sought, Miss Gilbert accepted the approval she was shown all the same. Certainly it hard to really pull off ‘sexy’ when one was trying to avoid freezing one’s ass off, as she ran her hands down the sides of her coat and spread it just enough to give a full view of what was beneath, the siren of the sky would take the words to mean ‘good’ regardless of their particulars and walk away with a little boost to her ego, even if it wasn’t quite as high as if she had been told she was looking hot as hell or something. “Hahahaha, outrank~?” Next finding herself scoffing as she was told that she was somehow subordinate to Miss Red Horn, though she was sure that the woman was just fooling around the foreign fox decided it was as good a time as any to clarify her own lack of interest in comparing the lengths of their respective ‘popularity’, especially while she herself was still only just breaking into the scene in that regard. Shaking her head and offering up a little shrug as made her point with no shortage of playfulness, despite the jokey tone to her words Grace wanted to affirm the fact that she felt no degree of inferiority toward this woman because of their position, though perhaps this statement was not entirely true. “While I’m sure I’d look fantastic in camo, I’m sorry to inform you I’m not the sort of girl who places much stock in ‘rank’~” It wholly possible that Miss Gilbert’s teasing compulsion to speak a little ‘downward’ toward Mia was born from a desire to equal their station, while the west coast woman might not want to admit it, she did on some level observe the difference in perception between them. A girl who was used to being ‘number one’, so to speak, while she knew that the difference in station was not the fault of her fellow foreigner, the golden girl still felt an inclination to be defiant toward it all the same. “Oh quite simple really, we’re going to go little spot of shopping in the most delightful little toystore in town~?” At least happy to know that she was in driver’s seat of their particular escapade and perhaps that also why she chose to be a little bit scant as she expressed the details of their adventure, as she stepped out and moved toward the little locale she had looked up before setting out today, Grace had to admit that she was enjoying having at least one little advantage over Miss Number One today, and was gleeful in her treatment of this fact. “And after ward, I think a change of clothes and venue might be in order~” Making sure to only pass on enough information to keep the woman on her ‘hook’ and perhaps also add a twist to what she gave in order to give her a saucy little mislead as well, while it was bad the blonde beauty couldn’t help but treasure the hint of power she had over the woman next to her, and indulge the more spoiled and attention seeking side she had to her as she did so. Even if it was perhaps a little bit obnoxious, this was something that the girl from LA would have to do when she was working with someone who, on some level, she saw as a kind of rival…

Mia rolled her eyes at the obvious tease but held a firm smile. Maybe it was just the fact they weren’t at a bar or they were technically co workers or something but something about the dynamic between them meant Mia found it hard to find genuine nature behind her teasing words, at least when they came out like that. “Yeah well you and about a million other girls in Japan. Kinda not sure how many girls actually like the rough or how many of them are just telling themselves they do so they can get with the big kahoona.~” She smirked with a toothy grin.
Looking over the girl as she presented her ‘old rags’, Mia couldn’t help but chuckle. Her own clothes were well kept but they hardly looked new. Maybe an old stain on the cuff of a sleeve, or a mark in her jeans that clearly wasn’t an intentional design ‘scuff’ or anything like that, still having a little chuckle as she let out a cheeky call of “Bitch~” Before holding out the plaid pattern shirt to each side again with her hands in the pockets, presenting the plain white shirt underneath. “THESE are old rags. Pretty sure I got this shirt off my dad or some crap. What you’re wearin’ is some lowkey runway model shit.” She smiled, genuinely thinking Grace had a casual but elegant sense of style to her, as much as the Oni beast could judge.
Her smirk remained strong as the other woman teased her about her outranking but Mia nodded along pretty self assured even as the other woman seemed to shrug it off. “Eh I don’t hold much weight in it either. Especially while it’s just this popularity shit… but I still outrank you though.” She teased with a wink and a chuckle, but a roll of her shoulders showing she was still generally at ease about the whole thing. She really didn’t care much for just ranking top out of popularity… but if she was ranked top cause she dealt with the most dangerous shit or saved the most lives… then she might hold some weight in it.
As more details of the grand plan were given Mia narrowed her gaze, not innately against whatever the hell was going on but a little on edge now that she realized shopping was involved. The fact it was at a toy store… she assumed a KIDS toystore she could get some idea this was some charitable act going on, and given the season… well, further assumptions could easily be made but she wouldn’t ask too many questions all the same, shaking her head with an idle chuckle as she thought. “Okay I think I see what you’re getting at… but ya coulda warned me to bring my wallet. I mean lucky for you I got it with me and I ain’t the stingy type but some warning next time aye?~” She patted the woman’s back with a cheeky smirk and followed along beside her, needing to stagger her long strides a little so she didn’t walk ahead by instinct.

Are You... Holding Out For a Hero~?
❝ “Well, I can’t say much for the other million girls in Japan but…” It hardly a surprise for the foreign fox to discover that she wasn’t the only one who had the hots for her fledgling friend, while she was certainly curious about what sort of influences were giving Mia such a large number of ready and willing cohorts in her carnal adventures, Miss Gilbert hummed and decided to at least offer a little reassurance in regard to her own area of interest. “For me, it’s that rockin’ bod that does it for me~?” The position of perceived power and popularity that the titan next to her held certainly seeming to have little influence over her own sense of attraction, though it was likely a little vain to admit that most of her attraction was a physical thing the violet eyed vixen did not mind confessing that fact all too much, and did not get terribly hung up on the superficiality in her admission either. “Oh, well you know us LA girls~?” Most assuredly the sort of girl who placed a high level of importance on image, though some might have seen this as a somewhat vapid inclination Grace had never really had cause to mind it, although it wasn’t as if she was deploying such a preference in any kind of derogative fashion. “Fresh off the runway and all that stuff?” The sort of person who appreciated good looks in another but not wholly off put by other aspects, while it added some spice to her life to enjoy style and sublime image it wasn’t essential to her, even if she was good at concealing that fact with the way she spoke. Though that was probably more to do with the place she had come from than anything. “Well then, if you’re a good girl today maybe I’ll toss you a cute little salute or something for your efforts?” Still scoffing at the idea that Mia was inferior to her as they continued onward and that seeming to fuel the femme to continue to make light of the issue, with her lips curled into a smirk Miss Gilbert paused for about the space of half a step and looked toward her colossal piece of company to offer a little cheekiness and a wink as well, still not content to show any adherence to a concept she did not believe in. “Heheheheh, oh there’s no need to worry about that~” The flying fox finding herself chuckling next when her fellow femme seemed to offer a little complaint about their financial situation, after fishing through her handbag to find a nice, slim gold card, Grace held up a little providence that would make sure that neither of them were out of pocket for their adventure today. “I’ve persuaded a generous benefactor to fund this little ‘mission’ for us poor civil servant types?” The mountainous Miss Kearney not the only person that would be in alliance with this American amazon today after all, and for once a spoiled daughter using the sway she had over her well-funded father for something that might do a little good, today a pilot by the name of Mike would be backing their buying via the sizeable credit limit on the card he had given his daughter to help her take care of herself in a foreign land. Even if he didn’t know that yet…
