The lawyer may have caught Feng in the lie as he cautiously shook her hand. They gave their answers that did not give too much detail as to what they know. She felt building tension coming from the mother as Angel spoke, her eyes were glued to her as she explained who the group is. The Lawyer attempted to sit the mother down but then it came.
The moment she hoped this would never come, it was the twins mothers complete anger at the three of them. Their points were sound and her anger is justified considering what they know now. Feng stood there and listened to the words, ingraining them into her memory as she went on. Holding back reaction as it would break her composure as she saw a mother suffering in front of us. She couldn't help but empathize with her plight, a new weight was placed on her chest as the old one left. Though she must get used to this...it's the only way to deal with it in this profession.
‘I’d honestly tell you the truth ma’am but...peoples lives were in danger and no matter what the circumstances, they still committed the crime..’ Feng thought. She didn't have the courage to speak it out after that outburst. The feeling in her chest felt weak...it felt sick to hold in there. But she must as she continued to listen.
Lawyers words did not ease this weight off her chest as he spoke in the thinly veiled professionalism in his tone.’After the talks that we had today, I doubt he is gonna get a peep out of them considering his position here and what he’s proposing’, she thought as she listened to his words. Optimism is something that is usually welcome in her neck of the woods but that end goal was too idealistic considering the state of the twins as of right now. She was choked up that she couldn't find the words to say to the mother as she just stared at the floor.
But then Yumi and Angel began to speak. They had the courage to speak their mind where Feng couldn't. One was a wordsmith who explained the situation to the mother as best as she could. Another did her best to add on and hope to withstand the ire that is this job. She couldn't find the words as Angel did her best to comfort the mother as best she could. All Feng wanted to do was run away from this and from them.
Feng would only look to the mother with a fragile expression as she tried to find the words to say to her. She desperately wanted to stay quiet but she pushed herself beyond because she knows that if she doesn't speak now, she will forever regret it. As Angel finished speaking, she took a deep breath and calmly started to talk. Looking at the mother without breaking eye contact.
“As much as I want to reassure you that everything will be okay...I can’t lie to you...The twins are good people as far as we know...but they still put peoples lives in danger...We can do the best we can to help you and them find peace in this...but please don't force them to do something like that… It may do more harm than good...so please don't rush them…”, she would say cautiously as she closed her eyes. Tears wanted to come out but she held them back as she crossed her arms and hoped what she said was alright. She didn't even want to look at Yumi or Angel, a bundle of anxiety she is at this point.

Sunada continued to breathe hard, broken sobs all through Yumi and Angel's words of concern, care, and, well, brutal honesty. A few mumbled words broke through: " All of them--all my girls are gone...I c-can't..." Before she went quiet again. Her lawyer had a tense look of contemplation on his face, but he didn't speak. It wasn't his place to--he was a lawyer, not a therapist or counselor. Sunada's hands squeezed tight where they were clenched together at her chest when Kamei's name was said aloud. " ...th-they always have been," she managed to say, " Like they were in their own little w-...world...them and..." The lawyer put his hand on her shoulder in reassurance. He finally had a place to speak as the subject changed to how the twins would fare if separated, and, adjusting his glasses, he frowned a little. " I did say it was the option we are trying hardest to avoid. But at the end of the day the health of Kamei-san outweighs whether or not she should be here. Honestly, Kamenashi-san is more likely to be able to go to the facility since she's so much more cooperative," he sighed, " It's...no, it's not a shame that her Quirk is far easier to control, very much the opposite--just that her sister requires more help, and accepts less than needed." " From my understanding from Katoaka-san and the team here, her Quirk is always active, and any touch can set it off. You can see why that's dangerous to have in a setting like this," he gestured to the halls, and the people milling about, " Even a moderately-sized crowd could be a danger to her, and if she harms another child here--even if it's a complete accident--then depending on the severity of it she could..." He cut himself short and glanced down. Sunada wasn't responding still, so he continued. " ...she could be sent to a far worse place than this correctional facility. So we're trying to cut that dangerous out with a more quirk-friendly, quirk-managing location than here." " I..." he looked down again, biting the inside of his lip, " I'm sure Kaotoaka-san appreciates your concern, and I will take what you've said into account, but--" " Masato Mokusei, they're ready to see you." The lawyer glanced down the hall at what looked like the same guard who'd been working the room the heroes and twins had been in previously. The lawyer nodded, " I'll be there in a moment," before returning his attention to the girls. " ...as much as I'm able I'll try to keep them together. If you really think your mentor could help, that would be great. The best way to get in touch with our firm is--" The guard let out a small cough, and the lawyer glanced at them irritably, " --I'll send a card to her office. Yellow Jacket, yet? I have to go, though. Best of luck, heroes." And he left down the hall, saying something hushed and clearly annoyed at the guard before they disappeared around the corner. As they left, like clockwork, Masago came back out with three clipboards and three pens. " Here you are," she handed one to each of the girls, " You may read it over as you see fit, but in summary the form binds you to confidentiality. Anything spoken about with the Katoaka twins or with anybody in the facility about the Katoaka twins is only to be discussed with members of this facility, or your superior, so long as it's in a safe space. Failing to do so is punishable by fine, and possibly banning from the facility if the information gets to the press in any way. I hope that all of you would keep each other in check to avoid that, though I have no reason to think it would." Sunada Kantoaka still didn't look up from her knees.

Yumi’s eyes turned a little downcast, between the comments she made on the twins actions and separating them she’d clearly not made the situation better but… stuff like this was what she was being trained for. Not just taking down villains but dealing with civilians afterwards… she needed to accept that sometimes, and a lot more now than when her training is complete… she wasn’t gonna get the happiest results. She wanted to say she was sorry but… she was a little too tense to get it out on the matter. It didn’t show outwardly, her throat was just… closed around the word.
As the lawyer spoke she nodded along quietly. He made some fair points. While it could be worse for them emotionally…
“I…You’re right. You make a fair point. Kamei could do a lot better in that facility and… while her they may need some time to settle in each location you make fine points. Kamei’s quirk would get her in less trouble and… yeah.” She rubbed at the back of her neck, her words kinda pathetic but pretty much just admitting she didn’t have much expertise on the matter and deferring to the lawyers thoughts. “Maybe… I dunno. I think communication between them seems key to each of the acclimating to this as long as it’s gonna last, but I’m sure you’re smart enough to already be looking into options like that…heh…”
With him being called away she had little else to say and watched him go, taking a slow breath and glad to hear that Yellow Jacket would be getting his card. “Yeah, yeah. We’ll make sure she pays attention to what lands on her desk for a while.” She tried to lightly joke.
With the clipboards soon arriving with their forms Yumi wouldn’t have questions or put up any fight around it, signing it readily and handing it back once her eyes got a quick scan of what exactly she was signing. Her eyes drifted across to Sunada, swallowing down a lump in her throat… she didn’t want to leave this woman alone but she hardly felt like the person who should be here to talk to her either. She looked between the other girls, and once they signed their forms, she’d gently whisper (moving out of earshot of the mother if need be).
“I… I think we should go but… what are you guys thinking…?” She realized she’d been bulldozing the conversation track a lot lately, and given this was her ‘team’, she deferred to their judgement.

| I t felt so nice to Angel to have her team finally working on the same page as both Yumi and Feng agreed that the twins shouldn't be seperated! That good feeling however didn't last long as the mom began to break down and sob. As this happened Angel just looked back at her companions with a concerned gaze as her smile faded away for the moment. As the lawyer began to speak and explain how even the slightest touch caused Kamei's quirk to activate and how that was dangerous for a place so compact as they were currently in Angel just looked up at him and nodded to him to show he understood. Angel always prided herself on her quirk comprehension and application skills and so she understood full well that such a touch based quirk in a place full of people could be a problem. Luckily it seemed that the lawyer understood that as well or at least a little. Angel's attention was quickly drawn away from the lawyer as the handler came back into the room telling the lawyer the twins were ready for him. Once this happened Angel smiled gently at him as he said he would send his card to their mentor and smiled even wider as Yumi said that she would try to make sure that their mentor got his card. Angel quickly nodded at this with a now large grin. Angel refused to fail these girls! She would not let them suffer the same solitude and loneliness that she had her entire childhood. "That goes double for me sir! I'll make sure Ms.Yellow Jacket gets your card! We won't fail these girls!"As the lawyer was escorted out and the man who had gone to get their non-disclosure agreements returned and explained how they worked Angel just looked up at him before standing back up quickly and taking hers. She then quickly scanned it before signing it and passing it back to him. In all honesty Angel didn't care about paperwork. She knew that it was a necessary evil as part of their jobs, but the young mutant was far more focused on the twins and their mother that needed their help. Once Yumi said they should get going but asked what the other two thought Angel just looked back at the upset mother and then back at her friend. "Give me just a second okay girls?"Angel then turned her full attention back to the mother, walked up to her and got down on both knees in front of her. She then with only a slight bit of hesitation reached out to take the mom's hands in her own while giving her a gentle and kind smile. "This may not mean much coming from a hero in training that you barely know, but in my eyes you are the real hero in this room. Anyone can deal with stuff like this if they have some random quirk to help them along. In my eyes the real super power in this room is the love, compassion and commitment you have for your daughters. It takes true unyeilding strength to go what you have and still stand tall for those who need you. They may not see it yet ma'me,but if i put my faith in anything it's that your daughters will come to see you as their #1 hero more so then any hero with a flashy super power. Just try and stay strong and have faith that everything will work out. It's been an honor to meet you."Angel then would attempt to lightly squeeze the woman's hands before standing up and turning to face her friends and companions. "We better get going ladies. Ms.Yellow Jacket will want a full briefing before we get back to campus." |

Feng would only answer in silence as the mother continued to express her sorrows about how much her family is falling apart. She can’t find the words to express her sympathies as the single mother sobbed. No amount of words or actions can ever fix this sort of situation. She empathizes with her but it was her own problem to deal with. The lawyer would begin to speak yet again about how delicate the situation here is. Feng already damn well knows how much the other twin can do but she held herself back from interrupting. She damn well knows what's at stake here but she wants to keep those two together. The lawyers almost clinical explanation of Kamei was maddening as he was doing it IN FRONT OF THE MOTHER. There's saying the facts and then there's knowing tact and that is what this greenhorn lawyer lacks.
Words alone can't fix this situation, action is needed but her current position with the others gave us no out aside from helping in testifying and the sort. Yumi made it apparent and grounded her thoughts as she spoke her mind on the entire situation. Angel would her mind and poured her heart out and she stood there...motionless. She couldn't say anything or voice her thoughts because she can’t find the words to say to them. Feng can't leave this place until she absolutely knows that everything will be okay. But she knows she can’t but it was wishful thinking.
When the guard called them in and guided him away, he had the balls to hand each of them a card. She would take it concealing her anger as she would pocket it. Him muttering something in an annoyed tone pushed another button and she was damn well ready to jump at him. At the same time, a wave of relief could be felt going through her body as they went through the doors.
Even lightly chuckling at Yumis small joke.
But that lawyer did not inspire confidence but she understands that the mother doesn't exactly have a choice in what she can get. Looks like evidence is going to be vital if they even have hopes to get this case in their favor. She honestly doesn't like the odds of this case helping the twins if they leave the lawyer alone. Possibly could lead to something worse if left alone to be perfectly honest. But the day was already emotionally draining as is, so she will leave it aside for now.
Right on cue, Ms. Masago would come in with the documents. Signing the documents was no trouble as she knew how these sorts of things would go in both terms and penalties. It all became a wall of words at some point as she would sign there and there. She would hand it back to her quickly as she would stand there idly. But Yumi would whisper something that Feng would catch on quickly. Angel would go to the mother and speak to her as she finished.
“...I mean I've been thinking of hanging back a bit to see what happens but...I don't know if they're going to let us do that...any plans?”,Feng would whisper back.

Masago waited patiently for each girl to sign her waver, accepting them as they finished and handed them over. She made a routine check that the dates were right and signatures legible (or at least legible enough) before she placed all of them under her arm. " Thank you for your cooperation, and for your time, heroes. Your car is waiting for you when you're ready to go." She made a gesture down the hallway, towards the double-wide doors they had come through upon arrival. She made no motion to rush them, though, as Angel came to focus on Sunada Katoaka. The only sign that she noticed it was that her furrowed brow deepened. She either disapproved of them speaking to the twin's mother, or shared in the girls' concerns. Sunada reacted only slightly as he hand was touched. The hair hanging in front of her face swayed as she adjusted herself to look at Angel's wrist, but no higher, even as she spoke. Her dark eyes were ringed red with tears that she was fighting to keep back, but at least her breathing began to even out a little. Just a little. As Angel drew back she would catch her faintly mumble: " ...thank you..." With their car waiting to return them to campus, and no further responsibilities on their part--unless they tried to make some--it was just a matter of crossing campus and returning to school, when Yellow Jacket was waiting.

Yumi noted the slight… furrow of the brow the woman made when she noticed the girl’s mother, and that had Yumi even less inclined to act when Angel did. Still, at least one of them offering out a metaphorical hand probably did the world of good for the woman, while if the lot of them tried to crowd her… hoo boy that could make her feel like a pressured mess. She shook her head, feeling a little bad she didn’t have the words to say here, but smiling warmly at Angel as she likely returned to the group and gave her an approving nod at what she’d just done.
“Nice work guys… still. This ain’t the last we’ve probably seen of this case so… chin’s up. Let’s get to reporting back to Yellow Jacket ey?”
With a firm squeeze of the two girl’s shoulders she’d offer them both a warm smile and start moving towards the door and the car. Really this whole case wasn’t gonna be something she forgot too soon but.. they’d see how it developed. It was natural to want quick solutions but… life just wasn’t like that sometimes, no matter how much effort you put in.

| I t was funny in a sad way. The woman who had been locked away from humanity and told that she was undeserving of love and affection had become an empath almost to an extreme degree. Angel was able to truly connect to those around her when they really needed it and on the days like the one she had just had she proudly wore that on her sleeve as one of her most defining traits. As she walked back over to her team she heard what seemed to be the mumbled words of Thank you from the sadness stricken mother. These words caused Angel to look back at the mother one last time with a genuine kind smile. "Always."That was all that Angel needed to say to get her point across as she turned her head back around to hear Yumi say that it was time for them to go meet with Yellow Jacket. Before that however Angel felt Yumi squeeze her shoulder and give her a warm smile possibly for what she had done to help the upset mother. This smile caused Angel to blush bright red and look down at the floor for a moment and twirl the side of her hair around her finger bashfully. It took a moment before she looked back up from the floor and started for the door. They may not have had to fight any criminals this day,but some would say including Angel that they did something even more important! They had begun to do something that would have lasting impact! As she walked toward their car Angel just held up her arms excitedly. "Onward to our next adventure team!" |

Feng can’t say anything else to the mother. She can't find the words to even say to the mother that can’t be breaking the terms of the agreement she signed. A part of her just wants to be done with today so she can go home and sleep. The day was an emotional roller coaster with many changes taking place. Many weights taken off her chest replaced with new ones and the lie. Angel and Yumi did most of the work while she stood here doing nothing, she doesn't feel like she did enough but Yumi brought up a good point.
“Lets do that...I need to get some rest...I think...I think I can sleep with a clear mind...until we see them again…” She would answer.
The case isn't over and by far still ongoing as there's still many questions needed to be answered. But that is for another day because they need figure out where to start on looking. For now she walks with the group towards the car with a burden taken off her chest...only to be replaced with something much larger. Where will it take them is best left for the future versions of themselves to deal with because the only thing she wants to do now is sleep.
