Post by Seigi Touma on Nov 11, 2019 12:33:13 GMT -4
Once again, a bright, dry day, and a remarkably cold one at that. It was a good thing that Seigi had taken liberty to again practice his cooking, laying it out for the world to see – this time the cuisine laid upon the stand was not of Japanese origin, but instead came from overseas, particularly from the land of the United Kingdom. As with many dishes there, they were prepared hot and ready for easy consumption, being more akin to full meals instead of meals tried together with Japanese food. There were traditional foods as well as some less known, dictating a history of the islands with their meals. British food has had a stigma that it is all terrible tasting, and sickening to many due to the amount of savoury foods, however with Seigi's talent it would surely taste sublime, the only factor of taste being the people who ate it.
The exact foods that sat on warm plates were as follows; a plate with 4 pastries filled with meat and potatoes, with options of gravy by each one, meat-based or otherwise. These pastries, colloquially known as “Pasties” date back as far as the 1200s, a savoury meal originating from Cornwall. Next was some smaller samples made up from one large dish, with 5 total samples. They were a singular sausage within a portion of a large roasted Yorkshire pudding, a hot batter mix cooked until golden brown. Known as “Toad in the Hole”, this was a large favourite of many people in Great Britain during the Georgian era, which has lived to this day. Following on, there was a bowl filled with soup – however this was no ordinary soup. From the North-East of Scotland, this soup known as “Partan Bree” was made up large amounts of rice and crab meat, however Seigi had added flair in the form of choosing to make the soup a little more creamy than usually prepared, and including a few choice spices and some Sherry wine for slightly more of a kick. To go with the soup, there was a small stack of bread, made with baking soda as opposed to yeast, known as “Soda Farl” in parts of Ireland. The last remaining savoury food was one of the most infamous of Scotland – Haggis. A sheep's stomach filled with numerous organ meats within it, minced with onion, spices, oatmeal, and mixed with stock Seigi had made in tandem with the Partan Bree.
To calm the savoury nature of most of these foods, there were also a variety of sweets on display as well – chief of which was a fresh batch of Battenburg Cake, originally known as a “domino roll” when it was first created in 1898. A sponge cake, with pieces held together by jam, but with a yellow roll of marzipan draped over. With that, there was a set of 4 Vanilla Scones, baked with wheat and baking soda, glazed with an egg wash, with a side of strawberry and raspberry jams to go with it. Last but not certainly not least was a pie, originating from the Sussex region. The base was primarily biscuit-based, using crumpled biscuits and butter to create it, with a layer of toffee made with condensed milk, a dose of cream for another layer, finally topping it off with further toffee on top and some banana slices wedged within, served with ice cream. The Banoffee Pie, created in 1971, was almost a total accident of a creation. With all this food, there were also some drinks; a selection of softer drinks were laid out, such as Ginger Beer, Freshly-Squeezed Lemonade, Sparkling Water, and Blackcurrent Sqaush.
With all the foods laid out, Seigi waited for customers to arrive. The previous few were interesting enough, but there might be more this time due to the size of these meals. Who could say for sure?

(I kinda assumed from the way it’s written this is like, some sort of public stand? Sorry if im wrong, I’ll happily re-write those aspects of my post.)
Yumi had been out on a home search, trying to check in on some landlord listings in the local papers all day and find a place she might like to stay off of campus. Really this was still being a bit of a bother. Ultimately she really liked the idea of moving off of campus, she got a jog in every morning anyway, why not just work it into her trip TO school? Living alone with more space would be better or, heck, with someone, and again with more space would be greatly appreciated. The thing she kept debating was, she could get a smaller, single person living space for enough that she could afford with the income from her cosplay hobby, or she cooooould use her savings for a down payment on a much nicer place…but then she might struggle with the rent…hmmm..
She was just tapping a pencil idly against her chin, wearing a cosplay of Futaba from persona 5…only if she had actually hit puberty yet, when a scent caught her nose. It was familiar but…distantly so. It reminded her just faintly of home. Not because she truly associated it with home but it was something she’d only ever smelt there…
Made her think of those rare times her mom got homesick.
She’d follow her nose, so to speak, and eventually find the source of the oddly thick yet delicious scents. A display filled with many warm plates, a fair few she recognized from her mother’s attempts to cook when she was young, and a fair few brand new to her eyes and senses. She idly found herself licking her lips before lifting her eyes to the runner of this little stand or display or what have you, tucking the newspaper she’d been using under her arm and her pencil behind her ear.
“Hey er…excuse me. What’s the occasion for this little…’display’?”

God, setting up a spare phone number is annoying. Red would think to himself as he idly walked the streets of Tokyo. Why was he setting up a spare phone number? Well, that was simple. See, Ever since he'd met Kabu, the guy would almost religiously call him in to fix shit in the cafe or around the area for him. If he wasnt doing that, he was asking him to work at the cafe for him cause it was slow or something.....though Red thought he was lying about that because, for some reason, it always got busier whenever he showed up. Always filled up with girls, it was real weird. Either way, one day, while he was fixing the sink for the 15th time, Kabu made a joke how he should do shit like this for a living. He meant it as a joke. Red took it as a very good idea. So, Red had been setting up everything for that when he had the time. Turned out it was a pain in the goddamn ass. Plus, he'd have to factor in how much time he'd have to actually do it, how much to charge, if he'd need an office or anything, all that kinda crap.
But, while he was still deciding whether to actually go through with actually getting the new phone number or just using his normal one, since he barely got calls anyway, a familar scent would find its way into his nose....one that he hadnt smelled in atleast eight years. Red would just stop in his tracks, just taking it all in, making absolutely sure that he hadnt just started day dreaming cause he was bored and was really hungry cause he hadnt eaten since he left UA...and that was a few hours ago. But, it seemed his mind was not playing tricks on him, the smell was geniune.....Pasties were in the area, and nothing was stopping Red from getting one.
See, theres a thing with english people. When the presense of pastries such as a pie, a pasty, or any type of savoury food native to the islands is confirmed, the brain is unable to ignore it, causing the mouth to start salivating instantly. Especially if you are from the north. All they eat is Pies, its hard wired into their brain. So, forgetting about all the thinking he'd been doing prior, Red would do his best to not drool all over the place and follow the smell to its natural destination: Wherever the pasties were.
He may have been calmly walking around when following the scent, but once he caught sight of them, he'd take off like a man who hadnt eaten anything in a month. Anything that wasnt a pasty was blocked from his mind, his eyes permenantly fixed on their targets. He'd skid to a halt as soon as he was in grabbing range, take one, and took the biggest bite he could, devouring about half of the one he'd grabbed. Instantly, he'd feel like he was back home. He'd just stand there, savouring the taste, stuck in his own little world.
However, after a few seconds, he'd realise a few things. The first, was that he wasnt alone here. A quick look to his left would confirm that Yumi was right next to him. "Ogkha Hghag Y---GACJHA" The second thing was that he still had food in his mouth so he started choking on it when he tried to greet her, and realised that she was cosplaying again. Luckily he still a hand on the pasty so he didnt just cough all the meat and potatos everywhere. "Ack....So what brings you around here anyway Yumi?" He'd ask once he was done coughing, in perfect english with a thick accent. It was being brought back in full force thanks to the food present.
"....by the way how much do i owe you for this anyway?" Red would ask the man behind the stall, Still in english, only now realising that'd technically just stolen his fuckin food. Truly, he was going full northern.

Giovanni was out with his assistant/ bodyguard/ 2nd in command. The two adult men were having a walk and talking business, albeit amongst themselves, they talked in italian. They were talking about their restaurant business, they were still a teeny bit understaffed. As such they were talking about how to make their job application more noticable so more people were apply. For example they were still lacking 1 full time cook and 1 part time cook. They were also discussing events as Giovanni heard that a bar called the 4th corner actually had a music night. So Giovanni asked his assistant if they could organize something as well to attract more people for more money.
But as they walked and talked, they noticed that there were people gathered around something, and that there was food to be smelled. Food? Well, this could be perfect for them to hire someone if they were a freelancer or if they were unemplyed. Soon Seigi and the 2 UA students would see 2 men who were pretty serious, judging by their business suits. Once Giovanni saw the actual menu of what was displayed, it seemed this was not only western but overly westen. British food. Thus the two talked amongst themselves "Sembra che questo sia cibo britannico1" Giovanni said "Pensi che possa imparare la cucina italiana?2" his assistant asked "No, ne dubito. Perché non provi un po 'del cibo3" Giovanni quckly shut down that thougt, he doubted that the man would learn their cuisine, and then right away ordered his assistant to be the taste taster. He didnt want to get food poisoning. He was simply far too important. Not to mention, Giovanni wasnt a fan of scones. "Si Capo~4" his assistant said playfully and then tried some of the food
Giovanni then looked at the others and spoke "This food. It is free, yes?" his accent was very noticable as he wasnt a fluent speaker of the japanese language
Translation 1-Seems this is british food 2-Do you think he can learn italian cooking? 3-Nah, I doubt so. Why dont you try some of the food 4-Yes Boss

Post by Bashira Doji on Nov 12, 2019 21:53:17 GMT -4
With a place to live and a minor income stream, Bashira had found herself with a higher standard of life than she'd ever had before. What she hadn't found yet: the sensible adult mindset that leads one to actually save one's money. Instead, she'd been visiting the bowling alleys at nights and coming home with empty pockets. Feeling a bit ashamed to show her face around the gym and reveal she hadn't saved enough money for her own food, she instead found herself trawling her usual spots for menial labor on the side, where she could scrounge up enough money for a meal.
Today, the spots had come up dry; nobody seemed to be looking for work, even for the newly not so stinky, showering once a day almost every day Bashira. Her stomach was rumbling and her throat was grumbling as she dragged her knuckles through the streets, wearing an irritable frown. Maybe she'd have to go back to the gym after all and find something in the fridge... though she hadn't managed to reason out yet that not everything in there was for public consumption.
With all of this on her mind, she slowed to a stop in front of a food stand where a rather handsome gentleman was offering free food, and it was as though as though the heavens had blessed her for the many questionably good, underpaid deeds she'd done throughout her life time. Sure, she couldn't read the names of half the offerings... well, she wasn't great at reading in general... but she felt her mouth beginning to water just looking from a distance. As she began to approach, casting a shadow over the others assembled with her lanky body and tall horns, she could smell the meal too. Her jaw hung open slightly as she lifted her giant hands from the ground, as if intending to approach more quietly and politely so that the gentleman might be more likely to grant her free food.
As a homeless person, Bashira had been the beneficiary of welfare once or twice... but she'd never seen anybody offering free food like this before. She couldn't even hazard a guess as to the names of most of the dishes, but she knew she wanted to eat them all.
Of course, as ever, Bashira had to be wary of the crowd. If she saw pro heroes or UA students in attendance, or policemen, it was possible that they'd go after her for her (now terribly outdated) wanted poster, which Christopher Clearwater had put up back when he intended to muscle her out of the hobo vigilante life and into the hero life. He'd had good intentions, but with him gone, that poster had just been a lingering thorn in her side. Thankfully, nobody here was dressed as a UA student, so in her stomach-driven state, that was total confirmation that none were present.
Dressed in her best raggedy jeans and a black, sleeveless t-shirt with the name of some obscure punk rock band called Black-White-Black, along with massive black, wool arm warmers for the cold weather, she made her way up among the well dressed others and did her best to raise a hand without knocking anybody over. "Free?" she managed to smack out of her drooling mouth, before she saw that some kid was already digging into those pies. She couldn't afford to let things get snatched up before she had her chance!
That said, she had to consider what she could properly eat without utensils... Utensils and Bashira did not mix. It would make sense for her to start with meats, but as soon as she set her eyes on the desert table, she knew she had to have them. All of them, if possible, in varying amounts and in succession. She pointed one giant finger first at the toffee pie, then at the lemonade, then nodded eagerly. At first, he might think she was asking for him to clarify that they were, indeed, free, but she'd make her intent clearer momentarily: "Can you cut it for me?" she asked.
He might figure she was imposing on his generosity a little too much, or he might put two and two together about how she was likely to ruin his cutlery if she did it herself. "Don't bother with a fork," she encouraged him, her eyes transfixed on the variety of unknowable dishes.

Post by Seigi Touma on Nov 13, 2019 12:21:11 GMT -4
After a moment of waiting after the preparation, Seigi's first patron had arrived. She looked young, probably a student at U.A, but he couldn't assume too fast. She also was... dressed curiously, possibly for some kind of event. Interested by the food, and asking for an occasion, Seigi responded: “This 'display' is no exhibit to gaze upon – please, if you wish, partake in my cooking. Indulge yourself as much as you like. All the food here originates from the United Kingdom, with savoury and sweet options.” He would explain further, however it seemed that once again, more people would join this stand of food. This was due to the sudden arrival of an even younger person, a boy this time, with no pleasantries exchanged or even a question between him and Seigi before he immediately went and began to scarf down one of the Pasties. In any other circumstance, this was a fast track for Seigi to eliminate someone so impatient, but this was not the time for such actions – besides, the boy seemed to very much appreciate the food, but choking upon seeing the girl, evidently they knew each other. Further reveals began when the boy spoke in a heavy accent, showing that he was a native of Britain. He'd also gained a name for the girl, not that it mattered currently. Seigi accommodated the boy's questions, responding in perfect English himself: “You owe me nothing, just compliments. The food you see is free, but I do implore that you let... other patrons eat as well.” He trailed off near the end after he saw the next patron, or patrons perhaps. The two men approached the stand, one of them clearly the superior to the other from the way they handled themselves, truly believing they owned the Earth beneath their feet. Sickening. As they came by alongside the girl and the boy, and began to speak the language that had descended from Latin – Italian. It seemed they believed Seigi would not be able to understand them, but this was very clearly not the case. “Posso capirti, lo sai. E ti farò sapere che, mentre il set di oggi è britannico, sono molto capace di creare piatti italiani.*” he said, feeling but not showing the anger present that someone would be as insolent to believe he could not craft food of Italy, a cultural icon of cooking, even to deny eating it and having a lackey to test for something. To respond to his question, Seigi again answered in this capo's native tongue: “Questo cibo è gratuito Non mi devi nulla.**” However once again, after this, it seemed one more person would enter the food-based fray. A much more unkempt figure, possibly not as well off as the others, especially the Italian gentleman, walked up. She seemed concerned about something, but that was to be left aside for the food. Speaking Japanese again, Seigi gave her the necessary information as well. “Yes, it is free. However I do suggest you do not gorge, as I have other patrons here, you may have noticed.” After that however, she pointed towards the Banoffee pie and Lemonade, and asked for a slice and drink, as it seemed whatever quirk she had made it ineffective for her to hold utensils, but a cup would work. “Of course, I will help.” he said, as he took a knife, and cut down the middle of the Pie, expertly managing to avoid unevenness. He placed it on a napkin, and passed it to her, along with a fresh cup of Lemonade, served in a re-usable paper cup, with two ice cubes to keep it cool.
*I can understand you, you know. And I'll let you know that, while today's set is British, I'm very capable of creating Italian dishes. **This food is free. You don't owe me anything.

Oh so this was some kind of display then? That was cool. He seemed to use a different tone for that repetition of her word choice but hey if it was free it was pretty much just an interactable display. She did tap her chin lightly in thought however. "Oh? Are you like, offering samples for a resteraunt or just...seeing how people react? I-I don't mean to be rude or anything or look a gift horse in the mouth, I'm just real curious about it is all." She'd try and give a warm smile, trying to show her appreciation for the spread but still sating her own curiosity. She was about to try and conquer the choice overload she had infront of her, trying to think which of the options infront of her were the things her mother once made. It had been so long ago afterall...maybe she should just take a piece of something and give it a go? She was just about to reach out and grab something when a memorable blonde rushed in to stuff his face first. Dude didn't even check if the things were free or not jesus christ. Yumi herself almost recoiled from the sheer surprise of his audacity in filling his face, somewhat reassured by the knowledge it was free but even then. Wow. Note to self he likes his food. She'd suppress a light chuckle as he tried to chew through his food, Yumi herself idly removing the glasses of her cosplay. She didn't take any time to adjust as she placed them in the neckline of her shirt, suggesting the lenses for this cosplay were likely fake and she actually had her contacts in. "Was looking at apartments, that whole 'moving off campus' thing I've been talkin' about. Need to make some tough calls but er...I've got options at least?" She responded in English and gave an idle shrug, the loose coat of her cosplay slipping a little at the left shoulder. She returned to the food, deciding to play with Red a little as she picked up a free pasty and stuck it in her mouth, but started devouring it slowly little by little, like she was nibbling it inward across her lips, speaking with her mouth blocked. "Sho yoo eet ich wike dish?" She quickly reached up a hand before the crumbling pasty fell out of her mouth, catching it just barely but managing to make a mess around her cheeks and chin as it resulted in the pasty mushing against her face a little, giggling through her own mistake. "Oof. A special art to be sure." She'd return to Japanese when she spotted the others arriving, inching a step closer to Red. Not out of fear of the new people by any means but knowing where she was familiar. Though...the one with the horns and the large forearms. She couldn't place it but... Nah. Probably just imagining things. She'd look back to Red as she finished off another bite before speaking. "Shmo yoo-" Swallow again. Okay this time it worked. "So you're addicted to these things? Does the school councellor know about this harrowing addiction?"

"Ah, yeah sorry man, its been a while and these really do feel like they were cooked back home....Nice english by the way, you sound better than i do." Red would reply, apologising profusly for just nicking the guys food without a second thought and attempting to pay with a compliment on his english and how good the pastys were. He did say thats how you pay, after all. He didnt think a pasty would have done this to him but.....it had been 8 years, so he couldnt really be blamed for wanting a taste of the home he had to kind of leave unwillingly due to certain circumstances. Like almost sending a kid to the hospital on accident cause your quirk manifested and sent him flying into a swingset....Brandon was a prick though, so he deserved it. Atleast he'd not made a mess due to his choking, and Yumi was finding it funny so really, it was a win-win situation. He was lucky he'd gotten used to her antics though....even if a light blush would show up on his face as she stuck her fake glasses in her shit and her jacket slipped off a tad.
"Oh really, you're movin out of dorms? I thought you meant that was gonna happen in a while, not right now...uhh...what kinda calls you havin to make? You need help or anythin with your options?" He'd ask while idly nibbliling away at the rest of his pasty, his accent getting thicker and thick with each subsequent bite. It was really taking him back to a time before he had to fight deliquents all day....when he was just a normal kid who couldnt stand watchin the other kids gettin bullied. He just hoped he was still understandable to everyone.
He watched as Yumi took a pasty and decided to poke fun at him by no handsing it in her mouth and slowly nibbling on it. Red, knowing how this was going to end, just raised an eyebrow at this and reached for a napkin. Predicably, as soon as she tried talking the pasty almost fell on the floor and covered her cheeks with the mushy filling. "Aye, it is, a special british form of eating, known only to the Isles. I can teach you later if you want." He'd joke, chuckling himself as he handed over the napkin so she could get the pasty off of her face. Or cleaned it for her, depending.
Of course, a display of this variety was bound to attract more than a dumbass english man and his best friend....was that the right word? anyway, before long, a couple adult men showed up....in suits....speaking italian....Red knew he was stereotyping this super hard, but come on, really? One of em even seemed like the boss even. As Yumi Inched slightly closed to him, he'd do the same, getting close and stepping forward just a tad, his eyes narrowing. He had a hilt on him incase he needed it handing from his belt......but the guy seemed harmless after he tried speaking japanese. He was probably just struggling with the language, a thing Red could empathise with. He'd relax a little, but he'd keep an eye on both of em just in case....and of the new arrival.
If he'd been wary of the guys who looked like they were in some kind of mafia, he was extra wary of the lady who looked like she could crush him between two of her fingers. Like the previous pair, however, it seemed she too, was just here for the food, albeit needing a little help considering her big arms might crush the utensils. "You need a hand with that or are you alright?" He'd ask her.
At this point, Yumi'd ask him if he was addicted to pasties. "Not that im aware of. I just came cause i havent had anything close to home in 8 years....cant cook em good and parents are never home so it was mostly easy to make japanese stuff, like Ramen and rice and stuff. It just....take me back, ya know?" He'd tell her, while reaching for a cup of black current squash. It was at this point that he'd look at the rest of the stuff on display, and set his eyes on a prize.
"MATE IS THAT BATTENBUR---" He'd shout, before catching himself getting carried away again and just stop, cough into his hand and calm back down. "Hey Yumi you wanna try some battenburg? Its really good, trust me." He'd ask, finishing his pasty and going for a knife to cut a piece or two off of the treat, depending on Yumis answer. Before he did though, he'd look to Seigi once more, and just make sure that it was alright for him to actually take it this time. He'd already stolen food bloody once, he wasnt gonna do it again....and he did wanna make sure he wasnt hogging everything to himself.

Giovanni was slightly surprised when he heard the man speak in italian. But he was also pleased, he smiled and then spoke to the man "Impressionante. Non mi aspettavo questa piacevole sorpresa. In realtà cerco talenti. Talento in cucina. Vorrei assumere un cuoco per il mio ristorante. Non credo che potresti essere interessato1" Giovanni asked the man, still speaking in italian. Sure he can speak jaapnese, but its always a pleasure seeing someone in a foreign land speaking your own native language.
The italian man noticed someone else come after him, a smelly ogre and a poor person. A poor ogre person. He gave the ogre person space and thus approached the young man boy and his girlfriend. No, he did not want to start a conversation with them. Instead he gave the ogre person space so she can enjoy the food at the table
Giovanni's bodygua approached his Boss and spoke up "Boss, this food is pretty good", but Giovanni just looked away from him and at the others and told him "Dont speak with your mouth full" "Yes Boss" Which just earned a facepalm from the Boss himself. Seriously, you tell someone to not speak and they speak.
Translation 1-"Impressive. I did not expect this pleasant surprise. I am actually scouting for talent. Cooking talent. I wish to hire a cook for my restaurant. I dont suppose that you might be interested"

Bashira wondered if the man's request that she "not gorge" was a reference to her drooling mug or her giant hands, which looked to make her at home consuming giant-sized portions. She decided that she was way too hungry to be offended either way. Besides, even if the guy was a little rough around the edges (not that she could see his real edges), he was still offering people a bunch of free food. And what was she if not a little rough around the edges herself?
When he took the time to pour her lemonade and cut a piece of pie for her, by that point, he was beginning to seem not just tolerable, but rather, like a keeper. Good people, as they say. "Hot damn..." she murmured to herself, wiping her lips again with the back of one of her hands before lifting the plate to her face and eating the pie off of it with scoops of her square jaw, rather than using her fingers at all. It seemed like Giovanni was the only person here who could eat food like a civilized human being. For the lemonade, she used a similar technique, grabbing the lip with her teeth and then tapping it with one finger to splash the load a little into her mouth at a time. It seemed she really was that concerned about her ability to drink ordinarily from a cup.
With food and drink in her, she was put in a considerably good mood, and wore a dull smile as she looked around at the others. One of them seemed a very cultured type, fancy, with an accent... more than an accent, he was speaking another language. To her, that made him extra fancy. He didn't seem like he was going to associate with her (or stand in her vicinity) which was not new. She wouldn't let it foul up her mood, since, after all, fancy people avoided her almost by nature. On that note, Seigi seemed capable of conversing back to the guy... and making all these dishes. "Dang... really is a keeper," she thought to herself as she tapped more lemonade down her gullet with an equal-but-opposite lack of refinement.
Bashira missed Yumi sizing her up, or perhaps she simply wasn't watching for it. She'd been tricked by the cosplay outfit into thinking that the girl was from an entirely different school, so she wasn't on her guard like she normally would be. Luckily, Yumi seemed more interested in the plain-faced young boy instead. She suddenly widened her eyes, realizing the kid (really, not too far from her own age, though she considered everyone her own age a kid regardless) was speaking to her. "Nah, I got this," she spoke in a growl around her cup, not intending to sound agitated, but finding it hard to talk with the cup in her mouth. In truth, she didn't want to bother the boy much since it seemed like the girl was trying to flirt with him...
Now that the pasties and scones weren't so occupied and with a beaming expression on her face (well, what wasn't covered by the cup in her mouth), Bashira pointed at the pasties and scones, then held out her hands in a cupped fashion so that Seigi could simply place them in. It seemed she'd decided to forsake even the plate at this point. "I'll take some of them donuts and whaddya-call-ems! Y'know, yer a swell guy, givin' this stuff out fer free!" she half-exclaimed, half-snarled around her cup, still holding the lip in her fangs. "Not everybody'd do that. Yer alright!" This was her form of a compliment, it seemed.

At least some people appreciated the food. The patrons weren't particularly hungry, that much was clear, but at least some were eating it. Some. The girl and the boy seemed to be friends, or something more, but that was of no concern. Seigi did however take concern to her questioning, to which he responded similarly as before to others in the past. “You are correct that you do not understand. These are not 'samples' as you say, they are true dishes, ready for consumption. I have no requirement for shamelessly selling my abilities to some kind of market. I merely seek to understand cooking more and more.” he said, his tone having just the slightest amount of snark in it to a normal person. But it was all legitimate. Seigi had no need for a restaurant's embellishment, he knew how good he was and sought to improve it. However, the boy didn't seem to mind him, he just focused on the food. Seigi responded to him too, albeit briefly, saying “I thank you, I am glad to oblige your home country's taste.” Someone who appreciated the dishes on their own merit, and not the cook's? Interesting, but not unwelcome. Perhaps that's why the girl seemed interested in him. Speaking of unwelcome, however, was the Italian fool. “Come avrai sentito dalla mia dichiarazione a questa ragazza, non voglio che la mia abilità sia venduta per il miglior offerente. Dovrai prendere qualcun altro. Nel frattempo, che ne dici di assaggiare il cibo in contrapposizione alla tua guardia lì?*”, Seigi said. He was strictly cooking to become better, not to best people or to sell himself short, to a man who was clearly corrupt. No matter the price, no matter the offers, you can never buy Justice. The last patron was, in his opinion, the finest, despite their... disorder. They had been naught but polite despite their mutant nature, which to any uneducated fool in requirement of removal, would be a crime in itself. Humanity was rotten, but these sessions where he could cook gave respite to these morbid times. She held her hands out once again, asking for the Pasty and Scone, to which Seigi obliged, handing her a Scone, and placing the Pasty in a small paper towel. “Do not forget this, as well.” he said, placing one of the cups of gravy in front of her seat. “I thank you. I only seek to become the best cook, this is a way for me to do so. Agreeable, is it not?” he continued. Looking at the stock, the Pasties were almost all gone, with only one remaining, and the Italian's guard had captured one of the scones, along with the polite mutant girl, who had also had some of the Banoffe Pie. The boy seemed to be eyeing up the Battenburg, and was free to take some, but aside from that, there was still plenty of food to go around yet. *As you may have heard from my statement to this girl, I don't want my skills to be sold for the highest bidder. You'll have to take someone else. Meanwhile, how about tasting the food as opposed to your guard there?

Yumi cleaned up her mouth a little more before nodding along to the question of her moving out of the dorms… though she should clarify. “Well preferably I’d be out before Christmas but knowing how quick I move with all the stuff I’m juggling it’s probably gonna only actually happen by the time the years roll over or something. I mean I really wanna get moving and all but I can only do so many things at once ya know?” She gave an idle shrug with a loose smirk before resting her hands in her pockets, chuckling a little as Red joked along about his ‘special British eating method’.
“Ya know as appealing as that sounds, watching your ‘amazing lip technique’ around the technical shapes of a pastry doesn’t sound like a pleasant way to spend an hour.~” She teased right back with a cheeky little wink and a shit eating grin of her own, not about to back down so easily from his teasing lines and deciding to throw back one or two of her own.
She’d glance across briefly to the other eaters, the posh looking fellow and the woman with the ogre mutation, just generally taking them in as they took their own choices of the food and had an all around good time. “So what brings you guys out today?~” She’d ask, hoping to open the door to some conversation with the other individuals enjoying this food with them, even looking to the cook of these delicious meals as he emphasized how he just did all this to expand his culinary skills and share the food to those who’d enjoy it.
“That’s very generous of you. And a really noble way to enjoy a hobby! Or even just hone a talent if that’s specifically what you’re going for!~”
She’d slip back to Red as he commented on not having food from home for a while, parting her lips to say something when he yelled out when spotting a meal he apparently must have really loved, giggling along and slipping up beside him, cutting off her own bit of battenburg once she was sure it was okay to take more and trying a bit, humming with delight as the flavour hit her tongue. “God british food all feels so filling…~” She’d hum with delight, glancing across to Red. “You know if you miss this kinda food my mom used to cook it. I could always convince her to give me a taste of nostalgia and cook some again.~”
