She'd have to relent, she would have to let him help her, if only this one time, she would let someone help her. She didn't like being helped, if people saw someone helping her, they'd be harrassed by the police themselves, then they would start to hate her like they were paid to. It was a vicious cycle of being scared of seeking out help out of the fear of the help being turned against her almost immediately.
