all the pieces lie where they fell... ♥ The answer was rather satisfying which put a bit of a burden away from Hanako. "I mean I understand that it could be considered a nice bonus, it's already good it's not his main goal. If I bump into a hero that does it for their sake, I will tear them down, piece by piece." She gave a happy looking smile, "On paper, of course." Besides she just trusted the idea of being a true hero, which was good enough, it was a real risk for some people and Mikhail was in that list according to Hanako. She worried enough about G and his so called hero-outfit, seriously did everyone had the Superman syndrome? She did recognize him in both his casual outfits as well as vigilante outfit, so how would that work, she was still scared for his arrest but good, it had not happened yet. "You don't think they are corrupt?" Hanako asked as they were talking about G trying in the past to become a hero. It was Nimue that had recommended it but instead of looking at what the right thing was, he had taken a vote and most including herself at first had just voted for vigilantism, she had so her doubts about the government at this point but also it would be a lot saver and she wasn't sure how to sell it to him. She looked at Elena and sat down on a little sool she found, she was tired and that had everything to do with medication, recovery and so on but she just went to sit as if it was because she would wait for Elena to be done. The usefulness of a shoe store. "You are right though, they would be able to just make their own decisions." As vigilante and as a hero, that's what they were all doing now right? The moral compass there pushing them whatever the way they should go and she had made bad decisions but she was trying to make better ones, she looked up at the little pram and thought about it, but maybe not good enough? The start of Elena her sort of contradiction to what she thought she would say hurt Hanako a little. She understood everyone had an opinion but to be very selfish, she believed she was the only person entitled to be selfish. Maybe in the future even more so than now. She didn't say anything, she looked at her lap. She had nothing to say, she did not have the ability to vote again and he didn't listen to her worry. She did not want him to get hurt, she did not want him to worry about the villains, the police, if he was someone with a license, one of those groups fell away, shouldn't Elena understand. "Mhm." She simply said eventually but it was clear that her voice, even with such a sound was high pitched and she blinked and stood up to fuss over a sleeping baby and they both knew that.

- I always say shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist -
Elena snorted aloud at Hanako's oh-so-casual admittance that any heroes she caught doing their work for the fame rather than the "greater good" would get slaughtered in the press--her press, specifically. "So much for retiring the Scandal mantle, huh? Or are those hypothetical pendejos special enough for you to make exceptions?" While still not a huge fan of her friend putting herself in danger with her reporter persona, the image of tiny little Hanako utterly wrecking a self-centered hero with words was pretty damn awesome. She'd pay money to see that. At the same time she wasn't in a rush to find out that one of the heroes protecting the city was like that, either.
Oh bueno.
"I could totally introduce you to him, if Gucci Man won't get jealous of you hanging out with a hot ex-idol-turned-hero," she was teasing, of course, but also testing just a little to be sure such an interaction wouldn't cause issues. She wouldn't want to leave one of her friends to the wayside if she wanted to hang out with a group. And she could see Hanako and Mikhail getting along either really well or hilariously weird.
Elena kept looking through the boxes while she spoke, avoiding meeting Hanako's eyes for a little bit as she came up with her answers to her question. Yeah, answers, plural, to her single question. Some of them were excuses but those weren't worth anything. "Yes and no?" She shuffled a box a size too small out of the way. "I mean obviously, government officials don't really have the best track record when it comes to keeping their personal agendas out of politics, but...Japan was the first place to give Quirkers a legal place to work using their Quirk. They made heroes, they made UA, they made the licenses; they've created something and the world's followed suit and in twenty years or so maybe it will be world-wide. Who knows? At the same time," another box in the wrong size. Next. "They're also using heroes like a catch-all for the mistakes they've made in the past. Like saying 'see we accept you after all', asterisk, 'so long as you work for us and do what we want you to'. I know it isn't perfect. But it's still so much better than how it was just, like, ten years ago."
"I want to believe that things will keep getting better. I don't care if that's naive. If I'm going to be a hero I have to believe that sort of thing. And...honestly, if G feels that he can't trust the government, he should keep doing what he's doing 'til things get to a point where maybe he can. If that happens. If not, it's not like he's a worse person for stopping monsters like Thunder Shock or the like without a license."
"It's still heroism." Ah, finally, a box in her size. Elena pulled it out of the shelf and moved to sit on a bench near Hanako and the fussing sleepy baby to try them on. "And at the end of the day I hope the rest of the world recognizes that heroism, too."

all the pieces lie where they fell... ♥ She thought about how to say this, "I didn't actually retire, but I consider no longer interviewing villains and possible vigilantes, maybe I make some exceptions for the latter one. I mean I know Drag-on so that would be interesting. If it is something I don't have to put my face at, I don't see why not." Not going into that building but staying home with her kid did wonders as well. It was her co-worker that had brought her stuff home because she had no longer wanted to go to the building. She felt like even though it was cleaned up, she would see her blood everywhere. She gave a soft snickering sound when Elena spoke about G maybe getting jealous, "I wonder how he would react if he is jealous, so I wouldn't mind that." She smirked besides it would be very interesting to finally meet the number... fifth was it? Pro-hero. Not that she met two and four but she would cross that bridge when she got an opportunity later. Especially two as she still had to thank Yellow Jacket for many things. She had to ask Elena if she did not think the government corrupted. Maybe she had a better view of it with Mikhail around but Hanako so had her doubts. You could either jump into it to try and fix it or you did not and stayed outside and remained around to do what you thought was best and she listened and maybe it was naive but maybe Hanako wanted to believe in that naive version as well. "I won't call it that, I would call it another point of view which is nice." Was all the woman said. She tried to stay a bit out of the conversation as soon as Elena spoke about why G should remain in her opinion a vigilante and she wanted to say so much. But she had not found the words, now or before and so she didn't. She looked at her baby, simply muttered a mhm but left it there. There was no need, it was a matter of an opinion and everyone was entitled to theirs and it was flattering. The fact that Elena believed G was necessary to keep some vigilantes in check, that was really flattering but Hana herself was so afraid of a possible arrest, how would she get him out of prison. She wouldn't be able to.

- I always say shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist -
"Then I'll start figuring out a way for you two to meet!" Elena beamed, excited all at once at the prospect of introducing her friend to her...partner? Boyfriend? Something like that, he was kind of the latter but she also kinda liked it when people used the former. Eh, whatever. "Maybe you could come by for dinner one of these nights--he has a ridiculously big apartment, and it's usually empty. And he, like, never cooks. I swear he's not an idiot but he's such a estereotípico man when it comes to self-care."
Elena pulled the clunky black heels out from their box and slid her own golden pumps off, trying the new shoes on. They felt stiff but that was to be expected. She clicked her heels together and wriggled her toes before standing up and walking around in them. They absolutely did not fit the look of her outfit but she could think of many more that they would go perfectly with. Hanako hadn't said anything in response to her words so she wasn't sure what else to add. Would that she could read minds. Had she said the wrong thing after all? She'd been trying to be kind and paint G in a better light than she usually viewed him in--and it was from an honest place, too, not one made up for Hanako's sake. But it didn't seem to have eased Hanako at all.
With louder footsteps she stepped up to Hanako and leaned over, her hands resting on her knees because her heels put her way, way higher than the sitting Hanako, and she smiled a little easier. "Hey, I can't help you with what you're thinking if you don't tell me what it is, but if you wanna change the subject then I'm okay with that, too. Also, I need your opinion." Elena looked down to her feet. "Do they look alright on me?"

all the pieces lie where they fell... ♥ It was also nice to see Elena enthusiastic about them meeting up. "I look forward to that." Of course she did, in her all honesty that was just the happiness for Elena but meeting the former star and now pro-hero, that was definitely something that would tempt her to continue to write, continue to hold on to her gossip free lancing job. It was not the best, she knew, but she would not dare to give up her dream that she worked on so hard. She snickered a little and nodded, "Some men and cooking seems like they are allergic for it. But yea that sounds nice." If only she could bring G, it would be nice, but she couldn't and she had to respect that and get used to it. What a strange life she had, that was definitely something to work on and to consider, what if Elena met the G she knew, not the vigilante. "I am glad that I found the liking in cooking after I stopped having to cook for only myself, it suddenly became a lot more fun." She also liked it the most when G was in the kitchen with her as well. When they talked about G, it made Hanako wonder, she didn't trust it anymore. After everything, after their baby, she was so scared. She was a little bit off daydreaming, she wished that someone would understand her point but they kept pointing out the good things of why he should remain a vigilante. She bit her lip and jumped up a little when Elena appeared quite close in her view, "Oh sorry." She mumbled and looked at the shoes, were they not a little too much? "They look so massive, take a step back, maybe it looks like that because you are so close." She sighed and decided to swallow her pride and explain the issue, "I myself thought he might be safer as a pro-hero. But everyone points out that his job is the one for him, I am so afraid they would find him, how different is he from his normal life." His white hair and American way of living made him probably stand out in any way right? It was so scary for her to consider that she did not want to consider it, but maybe if Elena could continue her speech to convince her now , that would save her a lot of issues and potential gray hair.

- I always say shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist -
Elena took a couple recommended steps back so that Hanako could get a better look at the shoes. They were heavy on her feet, but that meant they were sturdy. She couldn't do too much dancing in heels this high but at least they wouldn't break under her like the last pair did. "Same here! I hated cooking for just myself, but as soon as I got a roommate and friends it was like I found the best thing ever. My only regret," she sighed and did a small spin on the heel of the shoe, "Is that I'm still only so-so on Japanese food. I can do Spanish food perfectamente, and I'm no stranger to cooking francesa--French cooking--but like all your foods here are so different! Sushi baffles me. I don't think I'd ever trust myself to make raw fish. I'm all about heat."
She clunked her way back a little bit, but didn't get right up to Hanako as before. She rested both her hands on her hips, head tilted as she looked down at the woman and her little baby. "I get that. I wouldn't say it's one of the reasons I want to go pro, but it's definitely a factor. He's been at this for a while, though, right? Fighting the good fight? I know saying 'he hasn't been caught yet' isn't the most reassuring thing, but you've got to consider he was doing fine without a wife and baby to come home to."
As much of a manipulative bastard she believed G to be, it wasn't fair to say he didn't love his son...and probably Hanako, too, even if Elena was more uneasy about that. He'd been so happy to have a kid. And willing enough to raise it to possibly ruin his relationship with the mother of said kid. His priorities weren't great, but they were there. Somewhere. Probably.
"If he's got you guys, I doubt he's going to be sloppy and get caught. Just keep your head above water and there won't be anything to worry about." Elena sighed softly. "And...if you haven't already, tell him about this? These worries you've got? Because maybe he'd make a good hero and maybe he's still a gr--good vigilante, but if it would make you happy...who knows, maybe he'd decide to go legit for you, screw what everyone else would say. Or maybe he'd hang up the charade all together."
"I can't say I'd be thrilled not to have him on the streets one way or another but you guys should be the ones making the calls together, not worrying about what I or any other person thinks. You're both adults. Hell, you're both parents. You'll..."
Desde cuándo asocio "padre" con "buenas elecciones"?
"...you'll figure it out."

all the pieces lie where they fell... ♥ Maybe she was too distracted to give an opinion about the shoes, they were not her thing, so massive but the twirl on them looked rather well, "They seem okay." She stated as they talked about cooking and she was glad that Elena understood her previous struggle. "Ha, Japanese food just takes a little time but as soon as you understand what needs to be done it's a piece of cake." She was raised with it, surely she had not even tried much cooking once she lived on her own but she would have managed to take care of her diet and the like and now she was just doing whatever she knew that the kids ate and G. "You can flambé the sushi, for the nigiri that shouldn't be a problem, some restaurants add ehm fried chicken or shrimp to the maki roll so it doesn't have to be raw." She wasn't even sure which version she liked best, as long as it was tasty, "We could cook together one day, when we are both less busy or something like that. I don't really know how busy you are but you sound like one." One busy person for sure, Hanako smiled a little though it still felt like the conversation was not what she wanted to hear and she tried to push herself to not be so childish about it. But at least Elena got and pushed a little more for Hanako to answer. She nodded, yes G had been at it for a while. She wasn't sure what to say. Yes he wasn't caught but he felt like his ego might have only grown bigger with that. Throwing caution in the wind and the like. She nodded again, maybe, maybe it only pushed him more to be more careful but what should she do. She should talk more about it but she did not know how to bring it up, she had pushed him to tell her more about it but what did they talk about. She got the shivers when she thought about that moment at home and her panic attack and she did not want to consider that, she did not want to get sad because of that. "He told me that he considered it but at that point I wanted him to be a vigilante, I still don't trust the government but I don't trust society either. If you are around maybe I can trust the world a little more. He offered many times to stop, stay at home as a dad but I don't want to take his purpose away, I don't want to be that selfish." But maybe she wanted it, to avoid the fear in her heart. Who knew what bad things could happen. She nodded, though the small smile had already again disappeared from her face, "I am sure we will." She only would need to open her big mouth and tell him the issue, again, maybe he lost it, maybe he forgot or maybe she did not notice how much he tried to win her opinion for him. She had no idea.

"Oh my God, I'd love to cook together!" Elena clapped her hands in front of her, eyes bright both literally and figuratively. "You can show me some tips on Japanese food and I can show you some of my favorite dishes from back home! But if you whip it up at home, I expect a play-by-play on what G thinks of it. El bastardo no comió nada del pastel que hice." She made a small "tch" with her teeth and tongue. It didn't bother her at all. Not a bit. Why would she care what he thought of her cooking? He was a jerk and she didn't need the approval of literally everyone to feel validated.
...no, really.
Hanako's next words made sense, up until the last couple sentences. Wait. So G had offered to stay at home and take care of Kai? That...huh. That was more than she had expected for some reason. But if that was the case then why was Hanako even worried? "Hana-chan, I know I'm not, like, married to the guy, so you know him better than I ever will, but he doesn't sound like the kind of person who'd make an offer to do something if he wasn't a hundred percent okay with doing it?" Elena put a hand on her hip and shrugged the opposite shoulder. "Somebody can totally have more than one purpose in life. Right now he's the top vigilante, yeah, but if he said he would stay home and be a house husband or whatever and be happy like that, that's fine! As long as you're honest I doubt you'll both make the wrong choice."
As much as it seemed like their road to get to this point was paved with wrong choices, they did, really, seem to love each other and their kid. So that was...good.

all the pieces lie where they fell... ♥ This was nice, definitely something she wanted all her life. Someone to care, someone she could talk about such things like this. Cooking for her, yes that sounded like something she wanted to do."Ha I will let you know, speak messages for you." She made a short laugh because she did not feel all too happy about the previous conversation or what to do now, it was definitely a discussion worthy but she did not feel like having it.She did not really understand how Elena worked now that she thought about it, how did she dislike G and yet wanted to know what he thought. She let it be. She just had to make her mind, she as in herself, Hanako was there so much to worry about. She took a deep breath as she listened to Elena, "But that's also it." She sighed quickly after, "The thing is he always seemed to be proud of being a vigilante. He kept me out of it at first, he told me but never told me how it worked or what he did. The thing is I don't want him to stop that because of me, because of our son if he is good at it. I just thought that becoming a hero would make it safer than a vigilante but now I can't make up my mind. I don't want him to do it because he thinks I want it." She wasn't sure what was the truth anymore. "I don't know, I don't even know the answer." She was just too confused to know what she wanted, which was the issue. What more could she do or say, "Anyway, the shoes?" She looked back at the shoes Elena was wearing, she just wanted this to be over, but not because he annoyed her, but more because she wasn't sure what to do or where to go next. In her life, this afternoon. She got up from her seat and went to look in the cram, she hoped everything was okay, but Kai was still asleep.

Elena pursed her lips together into a small pout, the bright gold lipstick shining against her skin. Aha. This was a tricky one. Hanako didn't want G to choose to do something because she wanted it, whether or not he was alright with it to begin with. She wanted it to be his choice through and through. But was that even possible? Wasn't it just the same as her having no say if she said nothing? What was the point in that then? That wasn't how a couple should be, was it? Just going along with what your partner thinks or does because it makes them happy, not saying anything because you don't want them to change for you...but...was that really healthy?
"Isn't it his choice if he chooses to do it for you, or for Kai? That's the whole point, isn't it? You can't force him to do something he doesn't want to do in the first place--the only thing you'd be doing is telling him how you feel. And I know I've said some cosas crueles about your relationship before," Elena glanced down and aside, brow furrowing, "But you can't not say something if it's really hurting you. If you don't then you're just bottling things up. You're the one keeping secrets instead, and from what you've told me you're both done with the secret-keeping. So just tell him."
Soy una hipócrita.
Her teeth chewed lightly on the inside of her cheek. "...yeah. I'm getting them. They're nice and feel fine. Just not with this outfit. For real, though, you've gotta talk to him. Whether he changes or not is going to be his choice. For good or for bad."

all the pieces lie where they fell... ♥ The frown and desperate look on Hanako's face stayed around. Yes, she should talk to him, but she did not like the idea, she wanted to cry again when she thought about it and she watched her little one sleep still and mumbled she would consider. She would consider to find the right words, she remembered how much she hated to not tell him about Lady Scandal. She wished they did not have those fights, she wished they had not to rush to the hospital because she was in a shock and had to get even more medicine and all that. She wished it was so much easier. The weirdest thing she ever thought was that she wished quirks did not exist. Because it would not ask for vigilantes and it would make her life a little better. She wondered about it and she wondered if she would not have the little munchkin that was sleeping now. How different would her life had been? She did obviously not say this out loud to the vigilante. "Yea nice." she said a bit hollow when Elena said she would get the shoes and she got up to follow her friend to the cash register, "I would want to see you dancing in those." It was for dancing shoes right and she wondered how or when, would it distract her enough from all the issues? It would be nice for sure if that worked but for now, she would just have to see how it would go and if they continued more shopping. For now, maybe she would have to go home to think about the advice Elena gave her. Truth be told that Elena's advice was at least honest, she just admitted that minutes ago and she thought about it. "I-I want to think about it, is it okay if I call you later?" and with that, she added that she would prefer to go home, she did not want to be the Debby downer and rather end it when it was still going fine before she would really cry and she had a guilty expression on her face. Little did she know that her fights with G only would become worse and would disappear and return again.

With the shoes paid for and Hanako's mood absolutely soured--Elena wasn't a psychic, but there was no mistake when comparing the empty praise to her excitement from before--it looked like the day was wrapping up. Elena felt a bitterness in her mouth that lingered until they were outside the shop. Had she said too much? She always, always did, but this time it hadn't been a fight or anger. She just wanted to help her friend with her fears. Even if said fears were over losing a man that Elena still didn't approve of. Before Hanako could leave, though, Elena caught her arm with her hand.
"Ahora, don't think you're walking away without one of these!"
She stepped forward, wrapping her arms tight around Hanako's shoulders and giving the smaller--both in height and stature--woman a tight hug. Her Quirk made her body so much hotter (temperature wise, you perverts) than other people, which was a blessing in winter and fall, but it also meant her hugs were just that much more full of that warm, fuzzy feeling hugs were supposed to have. Elena held her tight before letting go with as bright and brilliant a smile as she could muster. Which, all things considered, was still pretty damn big and bright and brilliant. "I had a really fun time. And I am so glad I got to meet Kai-chan! You better text me about that cooking date soon, you hear me? Because otherwise I'm going to be blowing up your phone about it! I mean it!" She released Hanako completely to give the sleeping baby one more little wave. "And you! You keep mamá y papá from doing anything dumb while I'm not around to stop them, okay? Got it? Good." Elena straightened her back, bag of new shoes in hand, and started back in the direction of the station.
"I'll see you around, encantadora!~"

all the pieces lie where they fell... ♥ The hug surprised her, it was just something that did not happen to her often, especially not as an adult. She mostly had hugs and cuddles with G and even if it wasn't Elena's intention, Hanako realized she missed those. She felt cozy and protected, realizing she made a good friend that she did not want to lose and maybe thats why she should say so. "You gave me lots to think about, I am sorry for the abrupt ending I just, I need a moment." She whispered now that they stood so close, enjoying the warmth of the hug both in person and in emotions. It would be fine. She was glad to hear that Elena still had a good time and a small but proud smile appeared on her face when they talked about her son and Hana looked at Kai for a second and she felt quite happy with him too. "I will call you." She laughed it was not going to be the end of it, their friendship, she did not ruin it today and thus that made her even more happy, they would get to that cooking point she was sure of it. She giggled a little and she waved her friend goodbye before calling a cab, with the help of the driver she managed to put fold the pram and put it in the trunk of the car and let her be brought home. She needed to think, long and hard how to bring up this matter at home. It was good she had talked to Elena, but the question was what would happen next now that she had some food for thought. She hoped that she would manage, it just would take much longer than Hanako had wanted and anticipated. She would try her very best to make everything happen until it would all fall down again.
