The forest near the outskirts of Musutafu had always been one of her favorite places to dwell. It was quiet and peaceful, the type of place where she could find herself at ease, but this time it didn't bring her any comfort. No, as she walked amidst the trees, hoodie kept over her head the girl didn't make even a single sound aside from the light cracks of twigs breaking under her footsteps or the rustling of the tree leaves as she passed them.
Hovering behind her was her companion Titania, the fairy quietly following in her footsteps as she raised a hand toward the child but found herself hesitating. A moment passed before she lowered her hand, feeling her thoughts shrouded by nostalgia.
The forest changed, in her mind she could find herself back within the familiar landscape of a castle. She was within her quarters, lying on the grandiose bed, a feeble cough escaping her lips. She felt sick, and so weak... her beautiful skin had gone sickly pale, and yet she struggled onward, after all her people needed her. Rising up the fairy queen stepped over to the door, and after opening it started to walk down the spiraling staircase that led down from the tower into the castle. It didn't take long for her to reach the throne room, but familiar voices made her stop.
"Is it truly hopeless?" It was one of the Fae Knights, in fact the very captain that led the defenses of her kingdom. Another voice answered him in a somber tone. "I'm afraid it is, while our queen is trying her utmost to remain strong, it's just a matter of time before the curse will consume her." One of the wisest mages among her people had spoken, and the knight soon answered. "That damning curse... We shouldn't have allowed her to do it, even if her sacrifice kept us safe, what cost did we pay? Our queen will soon be consumed by madness and turn into the very monster that she tried to protect us from!" The knight cried out in frustration as the mage answered in kind. "We have no choice... None of us have either the strength or heartlessness to kill her, so we'll have to seal her away."
The words made her eyes widen in disbelief. They were wrong! As long as she had their help she was certain she could endure this, she wouldn't let this curse beat her! Reaching for the door she was to open it, but yet another episode of agony hit her, a pained suppressed cry escaping her lips as she coughed again, splatters of a white substance hitting her hand, but she dismissed the painful sensations throbbing in her chest and instead opened the door.
"Wait! Don't leave me behind!"
Titania called out to them, but it was too late, they didn't hear her as the mages outside the castle had already started channeling a barrier of sorts around the structure. Another painful throbbing was felt in her chest as she collapsed onto her knees, forced to use her hands to keep herself steady while another coughing fit overcame her. White liquid was spit amidst her coughs, staining the beautiful carpet underneath her and with the strength leaving her body Titania collapsed sideways , a hand feebly reaching for the door that was slowly closing. "Don't abandon me.... please..."
But it was to no avail. The door was closed shut, and in the countless years that followed she finally succumbed to the curse that drove her insane. She wasn't sure what had allowed her to regain her sanity upon being summoned by the girl's imagination, perhaps it was part of Primula's naive kindness that had given shape to a Titania that was still partly the kind Fae Queen, but also the mischievous insane monster she would later have become.
Titania sighed softly as she felt her thoughts returning to reality, and spotting Primula in a small clearing the girl was in a rather apt manner standing amidst a field of flowers carrying her namesake, the girl's gaze lifted upwards just as rain started to pour down the sky. The fairy approached cautiously, the sound of the rain making her sobs barely audible until she was close enough, and when she turned toward the front of the girl, the child's expression torn into her heart.
Crying... the poor child was crying with a look of pure sadness in her heart, loneliness and despair shrouding her visage. She knew that look, that look that she once had also: that look that pleaded for a savior. In the end Titania found salvation in the end of her tale, but here, in this world that was not a fairy-tale? It seemed there were no real heroes, no savior for the girl to rely on.
This world be damned, people preaching about heroes and yet none have reached out to her. Even that man, he was strong, strong enough to help her and yet she was left alone. Do humans truly care only about themselves?
The fairy's hands balled upon into fists of anger as her usual gentle visage turned into a scowl of hatred. If there is nobody to save Primula, then this world has no meaning, no purpose. I'll destroy it, destroy it all and take Primula to my world, a world where real heroes exist.
However, as she thought those words Titania could hear the sound of encroaching footsteps, and alerted the fairy cast a phantasm onto herself, hiding herself from view while curiously waiting to see who or what was approaching. Hopefully it wasn't a wild or hungry animal, for it would regret thinking her precious flower was prey! But it seemed Primula had yet to become aware of the approaching presence, seemingly lost in a daze of grief and memories, longing to have that warmth of kinship and friendship once more, things she had lost so long ago when her family died all those years ago...

Finding Saito in a forest wasn’t common. Wasn’t rare either. The boy, on one of his strolls, would often break the usual route and begin following some kind of… something. A whim, a wondering, a stray cat. This time was a slow-moving squirrel that looked far too adept at traversing on sidewalks. It skittered and skated and danced amongst the gentle footfall of the quiet public presence in the city and made its way into this forest before long. A few minutes later it had climbed a tree and returned to its home, but Saito kept walking. Another companion lost, such is the wanderer’s curse. The tall boy pondered a name for that squirrel, if ever they crossed paths again in the future, but could only come up with Rakkasei. So long, Rakkasei. Until next time.
Saito was familiar with the forest, so getting lost wasn’t even a remote worry. He stared up through the tall canopy at the morphing map of where sunlight broke through the leaves and detailed fantastic, green continents sat upon white and sky-blue oceans. Hands rested lazily in the pockets of his bright red hoodie and feet plodding along an imaginary path, he wondered if he’d been reading too much Tolkien lately. Then something caught his ear. A soft, unassuming sniffing noise. Very close. Like… crying. Looking down from his cloud-gazing, Saito saw that he’d walked straight into a delicious little clearing, covered in wonderful wildflowers of various colour and toxicity. And amidst them, in a state of obvious disarray was a tiny figure. Not necessarily small, but it held itself so tightly together that tiny was the only word to describe it.
He blinked. The flurry of whimsical thoughts fluttered away as reality sealed itself around him. The sobbing cooled the very air and chilled his heart. God, he hated crying. Awkwardly, he gazed around, perhaps for an escape. Realising no one was there to get him out of this, he let out a silent sigh and took a step closer to the figure. They were wearing a hoodie, much like his, but yellow and a skirt. A girl? Couldn’t be sure in this day and age. They stood about five meters apart, Saito behind the crying figure, when he spoke up. “Yo.” His voice raised over their sobs, deep, with a country-boy tinge and a small amount of tired mixed in. “You lost or something, kid? Shouldn’t be hangin’ around random forests, it’s dangerous.” About now would be the time they’d react to Saito, a relatively tall boy with lazy amber eyes and unkempt whiteish grey hair. Dark skin tanned further by the recent sun and a generally thuggish appearance wasn’t exactly the most comforting thing. Regardless of how they reacted, if they did at all, Saito would scratch his neck and continue speaking. “You should make your way home, kid. Flowers are pretty n’ shit, but you won’t see your hand in your face when night comes about, yeah? Know where to go?” If they did, Saito would be inclined to just let them leave.
But perhaps they didn’t answer. Or seemed frightened by him. Or just cried some more. Well, then Saito would mutter ‘Annoying’ under his breath and take a casual step closer. And another. And another. Advancing on them until finally he put his hand on their hooded head. “Calm down, kid. My name is Yamada. If ya prefer, call me Nii-san. I’m a hero.” And with that, he beamed a marvellously warm smile. His other hand still resting in the pocket, he gave the small, sad thing a kindly, brotherly head-rub. “What’s your name? Are ya lost? If so, well, I can help you out of here. I know this place like the back of my hand.” A small white lie. But he knew where to find the city easy enough. “Whaddya say? But ya gotta promise to stop crying.” He leaned and crouched just a bit so they were eye-level. “I have a feelin’ cryin’ isn’t gonna help whatever’s hurtin’ right now anyways.” He gave them another big smile. Genuine. Calming. Like he was treating this hoodied figure like a little sibling. As if they’d known each other for years. Like they were friends. Such was Saito’s way. Hopefully it helped this little one calm down a bit…

A voice called out to her from nearby, yet no reaction was made by the crying child. It wasn't that she was willingly ignoring the stranger, rather she had been so submerged in that sea of sorrow and loneliness that she didn't hear them, however as they approached her further her gaze met his own, soft sobs following from the child while the stranger inquired if she was lost. It was hard to describe her situation, after all being lost meant she had a place to return to, a place to call home which she clearly didn't.
Perhaps it was for that reason that once the stranger mentioned she should make her way homewards that the girl shook her head lightly, a soft whisper escaping her lips. "I have no home..." A painful truth, in the end, her home and parents had died in the fire that was started by her quirk, and her grandfather was killed by a villain, although the true nature of the latter was much more tragic. Of course, the memory only stirred more sobs and tears from the girl, the raise of Saito's hand making the girl flinch lightly, eyes closed and her body trembling lightly in fear, as if she was afraid of getting hit, when the affectionate rub over her hooded head caused the girl to open her eyes, blinking in bewilderment as he introduced himself. Yamada, a hero... although it were another part that seemingly resonated more firmly with her. "O...nii-chan?" She whispered with a soft sob, looking at him while there seemed to be a faint spark of liveliness returning into her eyes. Nii-san was after all a title often given to elderly siblings, an older brother... family... the thing she longed for so much.
"P-Primula... my name is Primula." The girl whispered timidly while in the shadow of a nearby tree, concealed under one of her illusions Titania was curiously observing the interactions between the duo. It was fascinating to see how the stranger was treating Primula with such kindness, a familiarness in his behavior which made it feel like they had known each other for so long. Perhaps it was for that reason the fairy had decided to give the lad a chance, to prove if he was truly what he claimed to be.
"I.. was hiding..." Primula explained, a hand reaching for her face as she tried to wipe the tears with the sleeve of her hoodie and soon explained further. "I can't control my quirk, and that's dangerous... so I was told not to be around others." She lowered her head lightly in shame while thinking of what Saito was saying. "I-I don't have anywhere to go... G... told me about school full of nice people, was supposed to meet a nice lady there but I got scared and ran."
The girl raised her head lightly and looked at Saito, her tears slowly ceasing. "People always say I'm dangerous... When Titania's doesn't help me they all start yelling and abandon me..." Looking at Saito with a pleading look she whispered weakly. "Onii-chan won't abandon me, right?"

Saito didn’t flinch as the girl spoke, her mutters were soft and near-silent. As if she were used to her voice being trampled and discarded. She seemed nervous. More than nervous; afraid perhaps? No, anxious? Regardless, she told him her name. Primula. A very… odd name, not that such a thing was rare in this city. He rolled it on his tongue, mentally trying his best to pronounce the complex, foreign syllables without so much of a drawl as to seem insulting or stupid. Then Primula began relaying her story. A short affair, but a sad one. Apparently, she was shunned for not being able to control a powerful quirk? Well, he knew what that felt like… Though admittedly his shunning was mostly self-inflicted. She mentioned someone named G, a school of nice people and a nice lady she was supposed to meet. By school, did she mean U.A? It wasn’t the only school in Musutafu and she looked a little too young, but if a quirk was involved…
"People always say I'm dangerous... When Titania's doesn't help me they all start yelling and abandon me… Onii-chan won't abandon me, right?"
Saito wasn’t sure how to respond. He stared at the girl thoughtfully, weighing his options. A dangerous quirk is… well, pretty much every quirk is dangerous in some way, right? If not to others, then to oneself. Same as how the throat is part of every person but threatened to choke them at any time, evolution was turning out to be a rather brainless mistress. He sighed, eventually and reached under Primula’s hood to give her hair a gentle stroke. “Nah, kiddo. Nii-chan won’t abandon you. Wouldn’t be very heroic of me, would it now?” he joked, giving her a playful wink and standing to full height. Now that he thought about it, Primula wasn’t as small as she seemed a second ago. Nonetheless, they should probably get out of the forest before something inevitably happened. So he began walking. “Let’s go, Primula.” he smiled back to her, gesturing for her to follow him with a casual motion. “You look starving, let’s go get some food, I know a place where we don’t gotta worry ‘bout people shoo’in' you away. Whaddya say?”
If she followed, well, she was more than welcome to walk as close or as far as she wanted, as long as she was close enough that she wouldn’t get lost. Saito wouldn’t mind if she grabbed hold of his hoodie or his hand. And he certainly wouldn’t notice a certain fairy flit around unless they, I dunno, landed on his nose or something.
If Primula didn’t follow, for whatever reason, Saito wouldn’t go anywhere. He’d just… sigh and sit down to listen to her. There was always time for food later if she wasn’t yet comfortable going back out into a world that, to his understanding, didn’t treat her very well.
Either way, he’d ask. “Just how old are you, Primula?” and, of course, would be shocked by the answer. Sixteen? Sheesh. He either looked old for his age, or she looked young...

When Saito answered her concern in that he wouldn't abandon her, and that such an act wouldn't be very heroic the girl's eyes softened, the tears slowly ceasing while she felt the teenager's hand gently stroke her hair. The playful joke seemed to have its intended effect, leading Primula to smile briefly when he gestured for her to follow him. The invitation was all she needed for the girl to step forward, a hand sliding into Saito's own. The teenager would likely notice that the girl's hand was surprisingly soft and small, suggesting she was someone who wasn't used to dealing with physical hardships. No, the lack of strength in her gentle squeeze, the softness of her skin all seemed to suggest she was just as fragile as she looked. Talking about food only served to make the child more hungry, her stomach letting out a soft growl as Saito reassured her that he knew a place where she wouldn't have to worried about being shooed away. A little nod of her head followed in response to Saito's comment, whispering gently. "I haven't eaten anything aside from a scoop of ice-cream recently..."
Meanwhile, Titania started to float behind the pair, quite curious to see what Saito was planning. Meanwhile Saito's question about her age left Primula to ponder for a moment, raising her free hand as she seemingly started to count something judging from her soft mutters. "Sixteen~" Meanwhile it appeared that Titania decided to join in on the fun, hopping over the pair and landing right on top of Saito's nose, exclaiming happily. "and I am six~ At least I been inside this world for six years ever since Prim's power brought me here~"
The fairy chuckled playfully as she started to hover between the two of them, flitting around in the air while humming softly. "Seem Prim found a pretty cool Nii-chan~" Primula nodded her head lightly in agreement, and as she lowered her head for a moment, obstructing the sight of her blushing cheeks the child whispered just loud enough for Saito to hear her as she squeezed his hand.
"Nii-chan is really nice... My Nii-chan... I won't let my family disappear again." Titania paused for a moment, flitting a bit forward before spinning around and grinning at the two of them. "That just means the two of you have to become strong enough to protect each other! Just like a fellowship of heroes would!"
The words made Primula raise her head lightly, looking up at Saito as she whispered softly. "Become Nii-chan's hero... just like Nii-chan becomes my hero?" That spark of liveliness was unmistakable, the idea of having a brother, even if not related by blood was already invigorating her spirit, and now the idea of them protecting each other, as if a pair of siblings from certain popular fantasy stories had given rise to what was unmistakable a sense of hope in the child. Although it seemed a distracting would soon show itself in the form of another loud grumbling of her stomach!
"Heh~ can't become a hero on a empty stomach I guess~" The fairy mused in amusement.

Yeah, sixteen. Primula looked pretty young. Now she was up close, he realised that she was more or less the same height as Hye… Maybe it made sense she was their age. Saito idly rubbed an eye as the girl took hold of his hand, her rice-paper grip surprising him nonetheless. Oh well, some nice hot food will get some strength back to her body for sure. Today was turning out quite strange and Saito wasn’t sure how it could possibly get stranger. That was, of course, the moment a feminine shape flitted into view and landed right on the tip of his nose with respectable grace. “Fuck-!” Saito started, jumping out of his skin and about to swat what he thought was a huge mosquito. But then it started talking. His bright blue eyes blinked, crossing to look at the little woman hover around. A… fairy? No, it had to be a mutant, right? Saito regained his composure as the tiny being called him a cool Nii-chan. He decided not to say anything, inspecting the intricate wings and dress she wore. So, Primula knew this girl? Were they friends? Prim didn’t seem to mind her, so that had to be the case. Well… if Primula wasn’t threatened, there probably wasn’t anything dangerous to do with this fairy- uh, girl.
Saito felt Primula squeeze his hand and raised a fair eyebrow, hearing “I won't let my family disappear again.” muttered from beneath her hood. Someone with less of a conscience might’ve been worried about Prim getting attached. Saito was not that kind of person. With a smirk, he started walking with the girl and her friend again. The fa- GIRL spoke again. Something about becoming strong to protect each other? Well, he wasn’t about to let a kid get herself hurt if that was what she meant. “No need to worry about protecting me, Primula, I’m already pretty big and strong. Let me do the protecting for now, alright?” Saito scratched the back of his neck, worried the girl might go out of her way to defend Saito if something came along. And that would probably be uh… pretty fucking bad. His thinking was broken by Primula’s stomach growling. Even odd girls like her got hungry. “Come on, the place ain’t too far from here.” Saito looked at the girl fluttering about. “And what’s your name, missy? You sound pretty smart for a six year old, ya know?” Her name wouldn’t ring any bells, but hearing it set something off in Saito’s mind. Like a red flag, but colourless and gone before it was even there. A warning? A suspicion? Or just a misfiring synapse?
Whatever the answer, Saito chatted lightly with Primula and Titania as they left the forest with his guidance. They broke out into a dull part of the residential streets, where aged yellow lights barely lit the path between densely packed homes and businesses. “Stay close, now. Could lose death in these streets.” They weaved effortlessly along alleyways and dusty crevices. For the sake of speed. The sun had lit the sky so that the spaces between roofs were like molten gold. The whole time, Saito had a serious expression, his eyes focused entirely on their path. He was silent and moved quickly, each step the beat of a drum. It would feel to Primula like she was almost being dragged through the claustrophobic streets… but Saito’s grip was tight. As if to say “I won’t let you go. Don’t worry. Don’t panic. You’re safe.”
Of course, Saito’s sense of direction was incredible, but while his mental map was immaculate, he couldn’t account for sudden changes, such as one of the alleys he was about to take them down being swamped waist-high in rotten garbage. “Shit. Lazy bums can’t take their own trash so they just toss it in the way.” He sighed, his concentration broken. “Gimme a sec, I’ll work out a way around. Unless either of yall’s got a plan to get us through…” He scratched his chin. “Maybe I should just pick you up and carry you through, the detour is much tighter and much longer… Damn, I shoulda taken that other path back there.” Saito kicked an empty can of soft drink down the street that just came from.
So from here, they had a couple options. Either Primula and Titania came up with something, with which they could just advance, a bit slower and calmer this time. Or Primula would willingly be lifted off her feet and carried by Saito’s strong arms as he wades through the gross garbage. Or they could just… spend five minutes walking back to find the other path they’d need to go down. Damn, the food has better be worth it!!
