Mia emerged from the changing room and enjoyed the class president's opinion before the figurative floor dropped out beneath her. While previously her body language had been that of someone enjoying herself this all changed in a moment at the other girl's comment. Her tail slowed to a near stop and her hand shot up to her collar bone clutching vainly at the collar of her shirt. While her poker face didn't slip, her eyes no longer seemed to gleam with interest as they locked their gaze on the floor her tail hidden behind her in the very image of someone very self conscious. "I-I could never do that. To be a model, well, one should be pretty and beautiful.." She spoke with a tremulous and small voice. Yet the words she didn't speak resounded loudly without being heard; 'and I am certainly not either of those'.
She would be lying if she said she hadn't dared to dream of the idea but her home life had ruined her self image quite thoroughly despite Bryn's best efforts. To such a degree in fact that up until this point she had believed the class president's comments had been reserved only for the outfits and their fit relative to her. Now of course she couldn't say that the class president was wrong in her opinion of her, that would be quite rude so she had left that part unsaid on purpose even if it's what she truly believed. Still, it would have been nice if she could have had that discount and a job to facilitate more shopping sprees in the future.
Mia politely listened to the class president exude pride of her family with a slight feeling of envy. The idea that money could be made specifically from helping quirkers had been a smart move though she doubted her family would agree on the matter. Nor did she ever think she could talk about her family and their questionable business practices with such pride. The simple reality is that Mr Hoshizora and Mr Fischer would be diametrically opposed in their opinions on quirkers. If she was being entirely honest with herself, Mia would have to admit that the notion brought her a small amount of joy. The very idea that her father, imperious Elias Fischer, was wrong about something and might just be wrong about her too. Her tail picked up its motion again in response as her body started to loosen up again.
With her mood picking up again, she remembered something she had been trying to remember for most of the escapade. If her father was a Mr Hoshizora, then that made the class president's name Karen. Thank goodness, she didn't notice before I could remember it. Admitting that she had forgotten her name would have been the ultimate 'faux pas' and she would have never forgiven herself over it.
She took a moment to survey her 'to be purchased' pile finding it satisfactory and slightly above her spending limit before replying to Karen. While it would be nice to get more things, she did need to remember to leave enough money for things other than clothes. "No, I believe that's everything I needed to get and a bit extra," She would have smiled at that if she could, "Oh can I? Then I'll wear this out if it's alright." While the outfit was only a little bit different from her usual attire, the feeling of her tail not wearing against it made for a rather cozy fit she was swiftly warming up to. She swept into the change room to gather her things, stow the clothing she had been wearing into her bag and emerged all set for the funeral march to the cashier. But before that one thing needed doing that was of utmost importance.
"I really must thank you again, I don't know what I would have done without your help Karen."With these last words of heartfelt and sincere thanks spoken she secured her 'to be purchased' pile in all its glory.

There was a mental "ah" as she observed her classmate's reactions to her half joking, half serious offer. It wasn't so much as showing on her face as it was with her body language, particularly her expressive tail. She didn't need to be good at reading people to presume that she might have stepped on a mine somewhere. Well, she had already been somewhat aware that the girl wasn't exactly someone brimming with confidence. Perhaps the joke this time was a bit much. And since Mia was trying so hard to keep her poker face, she felt that apologizing was probably not the best move here. "I see. Well that's a shame. The clothes fit you so well. I'll keep the offer open though. If you don't feel you have the best figure now, then a couple of months of training in UA should change that~"
"Have you seen some of our upperclassmen? They're like those people you see in gym ads. I've always thought I was in great shape but clearly there was plenty of room for improvement. Honestly, you don't look half bad yourself if you can pull off these clothes~"It was very difficult to give sincere comments about someone's figure without knowing how exactly they looked under their clothes so all she had to go on was the measurements she took and how the clothes looked on her classmate. And if her years of experience in dressing up people had anything to tell her, it was that this girl looked great. The lack of confidence was a bit puzzling then. Was it just her personality or was there some deeper meaning to it? Somehow people attending UA tended to have these dark or complicated backgrounds that it made Karen feel out of place for being on the more normal side. Well, as normal as a rich family heiress can be. Hearing that Mia was all set for her purchases, and the girl was definitely leaning on above average in terms of your typical shopping trip volume, she would help with bringing her purchase pile to the counter. She would actually insist on carrying more as she was the acting "store attendant" for her classmate today so this was part of the job. "You're very welcome~ Always happy to help a classmate, especially if they're also a customer~"She would tease again. Customer or not, she would have offered her assistance just the same. It just so happened that today's problem was something that could be solved by clothes. She had a lot of fun anyway. In fact she almost forgot that if not for Mia showing up then she would have been on her way ages ago as she had already finished checking things out on this branch. There was a bit of a line before the counter but nothing too long. She wasn't the type to use her store owner status to cut in and get ahead even though others might have done so. Though she could help but feel that the cashier at the end of the line they stood in began working just a bit faster when they spotted that she was there. She appreciated the gesture at least. "So did you have any other plans for the the day Mia-kun? Truth be told, after this I'm actually done with my business in the store as well. You were living abroad before coming to UA correct? I'd be happy to show you around if there was any other place you wanted to go to today."Rather than a store attendant, she was speaking from the perspective of a classmate this time. With Shouko practically hogging the girl in school then this was as good a time as any for Karen to have a turn at getting to know her a bit more.

Mia felt somewhat conflicted at hearing Karen's words. On one hand she wanted to contest the compliments she was receiving, after all they clearly must be wrong given what her family said on such a frequent basis. Yet on the other hand she wanted to believe that it was Karen that was right this time, just like her father was right about accommodating quirkers. Then there was also the question of just what they were referring to. The focus of her mother and father was centered around the parts of her that had given her admission to UA in the first place. While she had no doubt Karen was referring to her entire body including the tail since the clothes she had been working with were designed with quirks in mind. So it was with this mist of contradicting thoughts that Mia was paralyzed and left to only thanking the girl.
"Thank you for your kind words. I'm sure it will be quite interesting to see how we all change by the time we become the upperclassmen." Unbeknownst to Mia her tail would give her away by increasing its thrashing enthusiastically while she blushed slightly. She really did want to believe Karen's words.
As they were sweeping through the isles and lining up for the checkout Mia couldn't help but feel quite happy. I'll be coming back here again sometime, hopefully soon. Her eyes were still idly looking through the racks and noting things that she would like to have even as her waning budget clamped down on her hopes and dreams for the moment. "I think I would love to be a customer again sometime soon." She confessed this simple desire even as she felt somewhat guilty for leaving Karen with the larger pile of clothes. The que moved along quite briskly and Mia wondered what effect Karen's presence was having on the line. She had often heard from Bryn what effect her father had when he showed up at either the manner or one of the factories. Imminent dread and continual terror.
She turned and listened to Karen's question while pondering how this experience had changed her plans for the day. "Oh, um. I actually don't have any plans for today besides this. Given my experience so far I had assumed that it would take all day to find a store capable of dealing with my specific requirements. To be honest I was expecting to have to come back to Tokyo a number of times searching for such a store." She took a moment to consider if there was anything else in Tokyo she wanted to see and was sadly coming up dry. She was curious of everything and anything but that also required knowing of something before being able to go see it. Given the difficulty of this, she decided to try putting herself in Karen's capable hands yet again. "Ah, yes I lived in Germany all my life up until this. I would love to see some of the interesting things in Tokyo but I'm not sure what all there is to see. Would you have any suggestions? I would be delighted to see them with you."
Mia noted that throughout the course of this interaction, she had come to consider Karen to be a trustworthy friend of hers and regardless of what might yet come to pass she would look back on this day with fondness. Whether or not Karen thought of her in the same manner she would have to wait to find out. There was also the question of how she might interact with Shouko. Perhaps it was being a tad on the naive side, but Mia sincerely hoped her friends might all become friends with each other.

She chuckled again. It was really amusing conversing with someone whose extra appendage betrayed their true feelings. Mia was a good girl and if she had half the confidence and assertiveness of her tail it would do her a lot of favors. The shark girl was still better than others though. Karen could think of a few in class who were a lot more reserved. That was probably understating it though. Mia here could at least hold a decent conversation and could express her own preferences with some conviction. Finally arriving at the cashier, she placed everything on the counter as the staff manning it went to work, scanning the price tags and then folding the articles of clothing neatly to be bagged. As they did so, she listened to Mia's response about her other plans for the day, of which she actually had none. It was a funny turn of events. She was only expecting to go along with Mia's agenda and provide support. She didn't expect to have to think of an itinerary from scratch on the spot. The other issue she had to consider was that Mia had just spent quite a sum of money at the store. Being considerate, she would have to think of activities that were light on the budget. Normally Karen would be glad to pay for friends, but given what she had gleaned from Mia's character so far the girl would probably be inclined to refuse the charity. Her classmate probably wouldn't find it fun to be worrying about what Karen was spending on her even if she didn't really mind at all. "Honestly that's a bit of a challenge Mia-kun. A single day wouldn't be enough to see all the interesting sights in the city. Interesting is also a bit subjective. Do you have any interests besides clothes? Hobbies perhaps? Let me know and we can use that as a starting point~"If Mia could give her something to work with, then she could formulate a plan and route. Along the way she could probably inject some of her own places of interest. But the priority was the new girl who had never been to Tokyo before. It had been a while since she had given someone a city tour but it was probably better to think of this as an impromptu outing with friends. "We should discuss this over lunch. There's a food court nearby with plenty of affordable but delicious choices."When the cashier had finished bagging everything and giving them the total, Karen would wait until Mia finished paying and then lead the way to their next destination. It was about time too. She was feeling a little hungry.
