In a certain bustling mall in the heart of Tokyo, Karen was out paying a visit to one of the company stores situated there. It was one of their smaller experimental branches that primarily sold casual wear targeted at the youth population. It had only just opened a month or so ago but carried the same Etoile brand as their bigger stores elsewhere in the metro. This place was unique in that it sold and tailored only clothes. Other branches established by their company usually had a section reserved for clothes, albeit one of the bigger ones, while the rest of the floor area had other quirker products on display. Upon arriving, Karen was happy to find that business seemed to be doing well. It wasn't overly crowded but there were just enough customers browsing and fitting clothes to keep majority of the store staff busy. It actually took a while before any of the employees spotted and recognized Karen. Naturally almost everyone if not all the people shopping there were mutation quirkers in some manner. That was what their brand catered to after all. There were a lot of teenagers around too which meant they were hitting precisely the market they were after. It wasn't odd. While society as a whole had become more receptive to quirks, it still wasn't easy for a lot of people to look past differences in appearances. And so those whose appearances were more unique than others tended to band together finding something in common while being each other's confidants who could related to their circumstances the most. It was to be expected that this would apply the most to teenagers who sought to form circles of friends. Of course that was just a generalization. Karen would find that there were indeed a few who didn't look like they particularly needed specialized clothing like what they sold there. It was a warm sight to see knowing that some people did look past appearances and had no problems hanging out with their more unusual looking peers. After having a quick chat with the store manager and being reassured that business was indeed going well, Karen decided to have a look around personally and check out the clothing lineup for this season. As per usual she had actually submitted some designs to production and was delighted to find familiar ones out on display. Clothes and costumes were a hobby she had some confidence in and so she was very much happy to see some of her work paying off. Maybe when the store was doing much better she could straight up suggest a costume section somewhere there. She chuckled at the thought. Satisfied with what she had seen so far, she made a mental note to recommend the store some time to her schoolmates who might be interested. Most UA students tended to shop in the much closer Shopping District in Musutafu though. But maybe they'd be willing to visit Tokyo for a change of pace if she was a little pushy with them. It was only an extra taxi or train ride.

"I'm sorry to bother you, but does this store do alterations to clothes?" Mia gave a small wag of her shark tail to emphasis the point and the alterations she was looking for. The girl at the counter shook her head and apologized for the inconvenience before being off to help another more normal customer.
It had been like this all day Mia reflected. She had started in Mustafu a week ago and now found herself in the heart of Tokyo City in her expansive quest to find something she could wear. From store to store to store she had wandered asking the same question. To be fair some of the stores offered some degree of alterations but didn't really have any clothes that fit her tastes and were unwilling to alter clothes from other stores. The stores that did have something she liked simply didn't do alterations, or the specific extent she was asking for. And so it was that she continued walking.
Back at home it had been much easier, she could simply order or buy anything she desired and the maids would see that it fit her or was modified sufficiently. The head maid, who held a great fondness for her, even made the offer that she could modify anything for her if she sent it home but Mia would have felt guilty about sending them work on the mail. Not to mention it would be needlessly expensive and that was anathema to any member of the Fischer family. She would have to learn to stand on her own, and whether that meant finding the right store or learning how to modify clothes herself, she would survive.
She slipped the unholy-looking green drink out of her bag and took a long pull on the highly unpleasant mixture its taste no doubt secured by it's sheer healthiness. The drink served to focus her mind with it's near sobering powers of unpleasantness bringing her mind out of musing and back into the present. She slipped the drink back into the bag and consulted the map she had acquired of the mall. Just one store left? Oh, this trip is proving to be a waste of time. Still, let's see if our luck changes. She set off again, to this last bastion of hope for the mall.
"Well, this looks promising." She hadn't meant to say it out loud, but this new store's crowd seemed to speak for itself. Full of people with various appendages, a plethora of colorful tails and some quirks that were rather extreme in how they changed their appearance. She entered the store finding her gaze torn from display to display, rarely wanting for anything to look it. Well, they're certainly well stocked.. I wouldn't mind this, oh and that's just lovely. Ah! That sweater is die for. Mia took a moment to regather her composure, realizing she was getting her hopes up rather quickly.
First things first after all. Let's see if they do alterations.. She walked up to the front and found someone who looked like they worked in the store. "Excuse me, I'm not from around here, but I was wondering if one could request specific alterations to clothes here?" Normally she wouldn't have made her request so painfully formal, but given the attendance in the store she decided to cover her tracks and prevent being embarrassed. Her tail gave a little wag to accentuate her point before going back to it's usual swaying, as if swimming through an unseen current.

She was just about to leave and call it a day when her eyes spied a familiar face enter the store. One thing Karen had a lot of confidence in was in her superb memory and even though they had not interacted much outside of initial introductions, there was no way she was going to mistake a classmate. The girl had transferred in late not too long ago but this was no longer something that Karen found unusual. Several of the students in 1-A were the same. And to think she had just been pondering introducing this place to her schoolmates just a moment ago. This was perfect. Skillfully weaving through the aisles and people like she was a shark herself, Karen easily closed distance between her and her target, approaching the girl from behind. She caught her just as she finished asking her question to one of the staff regarding alterations. Addressing the store assistant, she spoke. "Do you mind if I take it from here? She's a schoolmate~"The store staff nodded and Karen turned to address her classmate who probably didn't expect someone she knew to be there today. This place was a ways off from Musutafu after all. "Mia-kun!~ So glad to see you today. I hope you're doing well~"She figured she ought to rid the girl of some of her confusion and proceeded to briefly explain her presence. "This is one of my family's stores and I was paying a visit as part of my regular rounds. It was a pleasant coincidence to catch you here. You've come to the right place if you're looking for alteration services~"She gave the shark girl an appraising look from head to toe. A number of outfits began to cycle through Karen's mind, mentally putting her classmate in each and every one of them. If Mia was looking to get some clothes altered, then maybe Karen could coax her into buying some new ones as well. Her quirk wasn't terribly unusual. They definitely had some nice things in stock for customers with thick tails that would need little to no extra alterations. But first, her initial business. "Anyway please follow me. We'll need to take your measurements before we can begin. The fitting rooms are this way~"She would say as she guided Mia accordingly. As the rooms were a bit full however, they had to wait a bit for their turn. "So what exactly did you need altering?"

Mia swiveled a bit to take in the new comer to this conversation as the girl negotiated with the store clerk to borrow her. She was indeed a class mate that Mia recognized, the infamous class president Shouko had alluded to. Mia wracked her brain trying to remember her name; she hadn't exactly heard it spoken too many times in class. Shouko had mentioned a nickname, but after becoming familiar with her tendency for applying nicknames to everyone, Mia knew this wouldn't prove a reliable source of information. Ah, and she knows my name... Nothing for it then.
"Oh, quite well, thank you for asking Prez. I'm rather glad to see you as well, I don't think we've ever had much time to talk before." Mia fell back on addressing her by title, after all it would simply be too inconsiderate to have to ask her name when she appeared to remember hers. Her accent was as usual in full German swing giving away her ancestry rather easily, though the Japanese word for class president was simple enough to pronounce well. Though she would make a point to ask someone who might actually be able to give her a proper name and not the nickname before she ran into the prez again.
Wait.. does she work here or something? Upon receiving the explanation realization dawned, though Mia took a moment to disassemble the comment. Stores, not store. As in her family owns several such places. She found herself wondering just what kind of money the Prez seemed to be from, was it comparable to her own family's significant wealth? Asking about the specifics of such a thing would be rude beyond repair, but she was rather curious. Still, the task at hand came to the forefront once again and Mia was glad to hear that they would be willing to do alterations. The prez seemed to appraise her for a moment. Mia had been subjected to glances that attempted to undress with their eyes before, but she got the strangest feeling the prez was dressing her up with her eyes this time.
She followed the prez with her tail swishing behind her in a slightly excited fashion as she began to discuss the alterations. It was fairly obvious what she was looking for, but she had been asked and would provide the information. "Well, as you can no doubt deduce, my issue is entirely wrapped up in my tail. I haven't been able to wear anything except skirts since coming here and while I have nothing against them, it's not very conducive to my friend's hobby of sparring, or any kind of exercise really. I still have some clothing that the maids were kind enough to modify for me, but wear and tear is inevitable at a school such as ours, as I'm sure you well know." Mia was confident that this would serve as an opening comment and perhaps get the lion share of her work accomplished as she prepared to submit herself to a tape measure.

It was true. As much as Karen would hate to admit, there were still a few classmates in 1-A that she had not spoken to much outside of formal introductions. Well in Mia's case she had joined the class recently and Shouko was quick to make her feel welcome so Karen felt that her involvement wasn't immediately necessary. But of course it wasn't the same as interacting with the new girl herself. Thankfully today's encounter was a blessing she could take advantage of to work on that. Listening to Mia's response to her question, her immediate thought was that the girl had misunderstood what she was asking. However Karen couldn't bring herself to correct Mia right away as she seemed to be rather eager to explain her own circumstances. At least that was what Karen interpreted her tail swishes signified. It wasn't rare for tail mutations to betray their owners' true feelings. Mia talked about how she normally had the service of maids to do her clothing modifications for her. Karen knew from her student profile that she was from abroad, and hearing that Mia had maids back home, she figured it must be truly a challenging experience to be living alone in Japan now. Her worries regarding clothes were certainly reasonable. "The school-issued tracksuit is typically altered to accommodate the student wearing it. If yours hasn't been modified then there may have been some miscommunication somewhere, especially since you came from abroad. It shouldn't be too difficult to put in a request at school for it. It's what we would normally be recommended to wear during spars and exercise anyway."
"As for my earlier question, I was actually asking about the specific articles of clothing that you needed altered. Pants, shorts, dresses and the like. We could do your skirts as well, unless you prefer keeping your tail under it~"The queue had moved up a bit and there was finally a free fitting room for them to use. After quickly grabbing a tape measure from a nearby counter she ushered Mia into one of them and then closed the curtains for privacy. Tape measure in hand, she would give Mia one more appraising look before proceeding. "Ideally we should get a couple of measurements from the base and every few inches or so. Do you mind lifting your skirt for a moment? This shouldn't take too long~"Should Mia comply, Karen would expertly wrap the tape around the base of her tail, take the measurement, and then repeat it again a couple more times, adjusting the position of the tape by a few inches for each measurement. Thickness wasn't uniform after all so she had to be precise. Once the measuring was done, Karen would gesture that it was over and that quickly note down the numbers she got, smiling. Eyeballing it alone, it didn't seem like there would be any issues and the actual measurements were within expectations. "Say Mia-kun, while we're here, could I interest you in some new clothes as well? We had just put up our summer line on display and we have quite a decent selection for tailed quirkers like yourself~"Karen would hold up the tape measure again, her face expressing her intention to get Mia's full body measurements should she be interested.

While the tracksuit was indeed the best possible option for running and all manner of things, it had one major sticking point to Mia. "The tracksuit is rather nice, but it's somewhat unwieldy for swimming in, which tends to be a major part of any sparring I do. As for specifics, I would love to have some pants and shorts again. I didn't bring anything with me that needs alteration this time, since most of the places I went to were rather dismissive of the idea." She turned a bit, with one eyebrow raising at a detail she heard specifically. "You can even alter skirts? I would love to see what you could do with them."
Mia's tail thrashed behind her, barely keeping from knocking anything over as her excitement threatened to boil over. All that hard work she had spent looking for a store had payed dividends in this place. Though it was more than that really, it was like all the times she had ever been denied something because it would be impossible to alter had suddenly opened up to her. Though her wandering eyes had found more than a few things on the shelves and hangers that she would love to own as they were.
As the queue moved up, it became their turn and Mia's hyperactive brain did some very very quick calculations as she was ushered into the changing room. She took in the sight of the girl looming over her ominously in the tight space, appearing to be gazing at her quite seriously holding the tape measure in hand. Mia's face took on a crimson hue as she turned around and slowly did as she was bid. Her voice managed to whimper out an embarrassed; "I-i don't mind." This of course was a complete lie that her tail gave voice to by going nearly bone still. She recognized the necessity of it of course, and it was clearly a needed procedure. Yet, a brain raised on books recognized this scene almost right away and kept her face at an embarrassed flush.
It's not like she was particularly interested or anything, it was more akin to knowing what happened in said book and making comparisons to those scenes was causing her embarrassment. Then said embarrassment was doubled when she realized that a class mate was going to be in possession of her measurements. She had never really been all that proud of her body, despite how athletic she was, and sharing that information with another classmate was horrifying.
Despite Mia's mass overthinking of the situation it appeared the Prez carried herself with professional courtesy never dwelling too long or making anything awkward. This did much to calm Mia's fraying nerves and by the time she was done her composure had recovered sufficiently. Thusly did she accept the bait supplied with some enthusiasm, not realizing until it was too late what she had signed up for. "Oh most definitely. I noticed a number of interesting things on my way through the store, would you have any suggestions?" Her tail picked up its previous pace with gusto, only to freeze stock still when the prez brandished the tape measure again. She sighed a tad and nodded her head, acquiescing to the unspoken request she now realized she had signed up.

Karen was slowly starting to get a better idea of what Mia was looking for. It was indeed true that a tracksuit might not be the best thing for swimming in. Karen could relate because her own quirk couldn't be utilized to its fullest if she stuck to using the tracksuit or most other attires. Except in her case it wasn't exactly due to being unwieldy. It just meant she couldn't bring out her full potential. But she felt there was little reason to do so anyway in your average spar hence why she didn't mind it. "If it's for swimming then we do have a swimsuit line, but I suppose that doesn't really offer much in the way of protection and would be unnecessary exposure."
"In that case one of our more specialized shops sells diving gear that might be closer to what you're looking for. I'm quite certain they have diving suits that can accommodate tails. I can tell you for sure, you won't find any other places that sell things to accommodate quirkers as much as our business, at least here in Tokyo."After getting the tail measurements out of the way, Karen was pleased to hear that her classmate was very much open to purchasing new clothes. Karen could sense the reluctance and feeling of embarrassment from Mia as she submitted to class president's measuring tape once more. Karen honestly found the girl's reactions cute and her teasing potential quite high, but professionalism won out in the end. Not wanting to keep her feeling uncomfortable for long, she would once more proceed to expertly wield her measuring tape with speed and finesse. Bust, waist, hips, neck, back, legs and arms - Karen would proceed from one part to the next without lingering unnecessarily, while minimizing any touching or contact as much as possible. Frankly most of this wouldn't even be done in your average clothing store. That's what standard sizes and the like were for. But with the kind of specialized outfits their business made, being this thorough just became part of everyday procedure. There were after all people whose quirks made them different in ways not obviously seen. When Karen was through, she could happily verify that her classmate was on the normal side with the exception of her tail. This made things very simple. "Thank you again for your cooperation Mia-kun~"She would say while rolling up her tape measure. "Given the current season, summer dresses are our main highlight. We have them in the classic white and most warm colors. You could probably wear the short skirt variants similar to your current outfit. But if you would like to try the long skirt variants, then we have them with tail holes for people such as yourself. Tail holes are typically hidden in the design of the dress, such as between the frills, and are adjustable for the comfort of the wearer."
"If you don't fancy dresses then we have some summer shorts as well on display. I assume you don't really have any issues with tops so feel free to pair them up and match them with anything you like."She would pause for a bit to listen to Mia's opinions before continuing. "Since we're already here in the fitting rooms, let me just go pick out a few for you to try out already. I'll be right back~"She would smile before slipping outside of the curtains, leaving Mia alone to contemplate by herself whether or not coming here was a good or bad decision. It was taking a lot of Karen's willpower to not just dress up a classmate in everything. But she was an important customer. And so keeping her classmate's opinions in mind Karen would proceed to the displays to grab what she felt matched the girl's preferences.

A diving suit.. that would be perfect.. I'll have to get the address for one of these specialty stores from her before today is over. She also took note of the class prez's pride in her store's apparent specialization in clothes for quirkers and from what she had seen so far that seemed quite justified. This pride also seemed to take root in her conduct as well given the professional manner in which she was handling everything so far. It served to lesson Mia's overthinking and embarrassment by magnitudes leaving her only with her insecurities about her body.
Mia submitted to the brandished tape measure and was subjected to all manner of measurements. No doubt each was equally important in deciding what would or would not fit her and she was forced to admit she'd endured this treatment before at the hands of the head maid. That hadn't been nearly as awkward as this moment however. By the time she was done, the class prez would know every single measurement of her body that mattered and that was rather embarrassing. All the little embarrassing deficiencies she was acutely aware of were now being known by someone else.
Most of these admittedly existed as phantoms in her mind given her absolute dependence on an extremely strict diet and inability to eat most things, especially when compared with her relative physical activity level. The near continual movements of her tail also served to burn calories in a constant manner but still she worried and fretted, battling with a general lack of confidence in her appearance. Such it was that when the class prez finally finished, Mia sighed in relief, her tail starting to pick up speed again along with her mood.
She listened to the class prez with rapidly growing enthusiasm hearing the vast collection of options before her and trying to decide what she could ask for out of them. If she was being honest with herself, she wanted to try everything and really make a day of it, but the infamous Fischer family frugality was looming largely in her mind as she decided. I've never worn a summer dress before, so I simply must ask for that. Though Bryn usually helps me decide on which colors to go for, and I'd rather the class prez not realize how terrible I am at this..I suppose white would work, I've worn it before, but not much in the way of warmer colors.
She considered also what her priorities were and what she actually needed as compared with what she wanted and settled in on the compromise with some limited regret. "Could I perhaps try on one of the white summer dresses? Oh, and one of the longer skirts for sure. I also need at least one pair of shorts. I confess, my typical selections are usually in cool colors for obvious reasons." She gave a wave of her tail as if to explain the difficulty of matching any colors with the permanent aquamarine accessory. It would be noted that she hadn't asked for any short skirts, as she had quite a collection of those and her stipend would not put up with such reckless spending.
After specifying the class prez motioned to retrieve some of the options she had specified and Mia thanked her in turn, not entirely sure if this was typical practice or not for this store. "Oh, thank you so much." As she awaited the class prez's return she considered what had happened so far since entering the store and nearly smiled. Even in the confines of the changing room she still dared not risk parting her lips in a true smile but she didn't need to. Behind her the swishing of her tail threatened to damage something with its significant motion. Back and forth as if swimming in an excited frenzy she waited with barely contained excitement.
The difficulties involved with finding a store that sold clothes she could actually wear or would be willing to modify to such an extent had seemed nearly insurmountable before now. She had been forced to search a vast number of things on the internet just to learn how to get to the various malls and stores she had visited. From the complicated maps of Tokyo to a sub forum explaining how the busing system worked. Yet at last it was finally paying off. Mia settled in and relaxed a bit waiting for the class prez's return.

She was like a kid at Christmas. She was no stranger to picking out and arranging clothes for herself, but there was just something extra exciting and and amusing about picking out and arranging clothes for someone else. Perhaps it was because it was easier to dress up someone you can see directly and picture what would look good or interesting on them. There was also the thrill of unknown territory. She knew her own body very well and the kind of things that accented and worked with her look and figure. But just because she had all the measurements of her classmate didn't mean she could accurately predict how something would "fit" her. All measurements did was narrow things down. There was still very much some trial and error involved. But in the end despite the enjoyment she might garner from this, the customer still had the final say. So she just had to have fun helping her out to make that decision. Recalling Mia's inputs on her preferences Karen headed over to where the summer dresses were, grabbing a few, before making her way to the bottoms section where she would procure a couple of skirts and shorts. One of the store staff offered to help bring things over and Karen gladly handed them half of her haul. When they got back to the dressing rooms however she would have the staff member wait outside and just assist with handing in and folding clothes they would end up going through. "I'm back~"She would say to signal in advance to Mia that she had returned before entering the dressing room curtains. In her arms were the promised summer dress, white with spaghetti straps and a frilly design for the skirt. Karen would briefly show her where the tail hole is located, cleverly hidden between the frills. In fact the dress could be worn by someone without a tail without ever realizing there was a hole. Tiny white buttons under the frills kept it closed and fastening them in a certain manner adjusted the hole to accommodate different tail sizes. "You can try this on for starters and let me know if you like the fit. I have a few other designs and colors outside. Let me know when you're done putting it on so we can see~"Smiling, she would step out of the curtains to give Mia some privacy to change. Outside the staff member had pulled a table with all the pieces of clothing Karen picked out. They had quite a bit to go through. This was going to be fun.

Mia settled in and waited for the promised return of the class prez with baited breath. Her tail swished behind her with an almost dangerous rapidity that threatened to damage something but it was simply too difficult to curb her enthusiasm while she waited. Fortunately she didn't have to wait overly long for the class prez to return, announcing herself as she did so. "Oh, welcome back." She replied in both reflex and heartfelt enthusiasm.
The class prez then conducted a wonderful explanation of how the tail section was setup and the rather clever button system it employed. Mia felt a vocalization of wonder slip between her lips, both at the cleverness of the design and how lovely the outfit looked. "Ooooooo~" Oh, how she really hoped it fit well. Mia accepted the garment with a grateful nod and her usual poker face, though there might have been a slight upward tilt at the tips of her lips indicating something of a smile. As usual her tail was far more honest, swinging back and forth with frenzied abandon.
With the class prez leaving her alone again, Mia began the task of removing what clothing she needed to. Naturally the top was easy to remove, and the skirt wasn't overly difficult either, though she noted that the swishing of her tail had been hiking up the back again. She held the new dress and turned it over and over in her hands taking a good look at the button system, it really was quite clever. With an almost smile she slipped it on and tried to put her tail through the hole only to realize the problem. The dress was perfectly fine, the tail on the other hand was far too excited to put through any hole.
Mia took a deep breath, in and out, in and out trying to calm herself down while focusing hard on keeping her tail from moving enough to slip the dress on properly. It normally didn't take quite this amount of effort to make her tail calm but she was really quite excited and to think there would be even more things to try on. After all the vast expended effort in donning the dress she did a quick twirl, noting that in her opinion at least, the dress fit really quite nicely. Well, time to see what the class prez thinks. She poked her head out of the curtains to note the class prez's position before she emerged from change room for inspection a slight blush upon her face.
"Ummm, what do you think?" She asked, her hesitation born from a lack of confidence in her features that was somewhat countered by her confidence in how nice the dress looked and the fun she was having. Her tail kept up a decent pace behind her, but rather than disrupting the outfit it seemed to fan the frills a bit. In all truth the outfit seemed to fit excellently showing off everything that her usual attire tried to hide out of misguided insecurity.

While Mia was putting on the first dress, Karen was at the nearby table sorting the outfits in order. She wasn't honestly expecting the girl to try on everything there but by laying them all out neatly they could more easily work together on picking stuff out. There were a lot of cool colors as per Mia's request but that meant the the odd warm color or two stood out even more. Karen was of the opposite opinion that cool colors suited an aquamarine tail the best. Contrasting colors could actually work here especially in terms of putting emphasis on the dress itself. Not that there was anything wrong with keeping a cool color theme, but at least depending on the occasion, other suitable colors would be up for consideration. As she continued to ponder on mixing and matching attires, her classmate would peek from behind the curtains announcing that the girl had finished changing. Clad in the white dress she have her, Mia stepped out of the dressing room to show off the new outfit, causing Karen to clap her hands together and smile. "It looks perfect~"She began to walk around Mia to get a better look at the dress from every angle, noting how her tail seemed to fit just fine for this one. That was the part Karen was concerned about the most because it wasn't always a straightforward slip into a tail hole sort of thing. But her measuring tape never lies. This dress was a winner. Returning back in front of Mia, Karen flashed her classmate a thumbs up. "I don't see any issues or problems visually. How does it feel? The material is pretty standard but as someone who doesn't have a tail, I'd have to ask if there are any issues on your end. Like if the buttons are too tight and need a bit of adjusting."She already pretty much knew it would turn out alright so this was just standard customer courtesy. Still she couldn't help but appreciate the different vibe Mia was giving off now compared to her usual look. Summer dresses really had that magic of bringing out one's girly side. White in particular emphasized the imagery of innocence. Since her classmate had short hair, a summer hat might look good on her as well but she would save that thought for later. Once Mia had commented on the fit of the dress around her tail, Karen would usher her over to the table with the other pieces of clothing. "Well if you liked that, here are the other styles and colors we have available. Feel free to try one that you like. The fit should be very similar to the one you're currently wearing."She would intentionally neglect to explain why there were some outfits not quite in line with Mia's requests among the ones laid out on the table as she didn't want to oversell them. Should these pique her classmate's curiosity however then she would be happy to elaborate and accommodate her interest.

Hearing the words 'it's perfect' served to temporarily alleviate Mia's insecurities a bit as the class prez completed a circuit around her. She tried, mostly in vain, to keep her tail from thrashing too badly behind her so as not to knock the girl over. She received a thumbs up of approval and was asked how it fit. Mia took a moment, twisting her body back and forth and making the dress glide slightly from the motion as she thought about it. "It's really quite wonderful. My tail can move about as much as it wants without disturbing the dress, I've never had something this cozy before."
Mia was quite pleased with the outfit, feeling validated by the class prez's opinion on how it looked and how it felt. Where before she was on a mission to acquire just a few things she needed for life, now she could feel herself becoming very open to the idea of bending her budget a tad. Naturally the clothes Bryn had lovingly modified for her didn't quite compare with the clever design of the store, not for lack of trying mind you. There was just something overall better about industrial quality over hand made attempts.
As Mia was maneuvered to the large table of clothes laid out before her she found her Fischer-family frugality melting like hot butter. I could have that, and that, and that's nice, and oh my I've never had anything like that. If she was being completely honest with herself, there was very little on that table she didn't like. So it was that she quickly snatched up some of the things she had asked for originally. Firstly as a method to keep her mind focused on it's goal and secondly because she couldn't decide which one she wanted to try on first. In doing so however her glance took note of something that was certainly not of the same color scheme as everything else she had been eyeing up.
"Umm," She gestured to one of the articles of clothing adorned in typically warmer colors. "I'm a little interested in trying something of a different color set, but would you suggest something for me?" It was a little embarrassing to have to ask someone else to pick something out for her, but she really didn't know which ones would work with her tail. Normally that might have embarrassed her too much, but with the class prez's perfect sales lady persona, she found herself getting more comfortable with the idea. That added to the fact that it was far less embarrassing than getting measured so thoroughly.
Mia shifted a bit, swishing the dress this way and that, enjoying the coziness of it while she waited for the class prez's input. Internally she tried somewhat desperately to create a second limit of how much she was willing to spend, noting with some resignation that it would inevitably be more than she had originally intended. I've been doing so well up until this point but, if this keeps up, I may need a job. The thought was depressing and sobering but not something she would shy away from, she was a Fisher after all and would be no stranger to work just like the rest.

Karen nodded noting Mia's comments on the outfit. She was definitely pleased to have such a satisfied customer. Her tail was rather fidgety so Karen wanted to be sure it wasn't because of any discomfort. There was a sense of appreciation as well that her tail could move around without messing up the outfit. That's certainly one of the traits their designs were going for. Karen would be sure to pass the word on to their developers when she visited the factory again. "I'm happy to hear that you're pleased."She would say as Mia now turned her attention to the clothing selection on the table. It seemed the girl was very much excited with the choices available too. Karen had done her best to grab what Mia was looking for. Her knowledge of clothes wasn't just for show. So she wasn't too surprised that her classmate agreed with the options she laid out. If anything what caught her off guard was Mia's apparent willingness to just get everything. All in all the clothes their company made were fairly priced but buying practically an entire wardrobe was not going to be cheap either way. Still if Mia had the means then who was Karen to stop her. It wasn't too long before her classmate finally took notice of the other available colors Karen had picked out from the clothing racks. The items did stand out after all compared to the other cool colored clothes. The expression on Karen's face was basically saying that she thought Mia would never ask. "Well I was hoping you wouldn't mind that I grabbed a few of them. I can understand wanting colors that go well with your tail, but I'm also a fan of contrast and complementary shades. In this case for aquamarine I would suggest orange, yellow or beige, such as what we have here."She would hold up one of the yellow-orange skirts for Mia to get a better look. "This would go well with white tops or your choice of a cool colored top. Something vivid and attention catching if you're looking to make an impression or statement."After Mia had finished looking or shared her thoughts, Karen would reach for one of the beige colored shorts. "If you don't feel up for that, then this one is more subdued and goes with almost anything. It's also contrasting but at the same time balanced and the lighter shade gives off a more relaxed and casual feel."These were also available vice-versa, with various shades of yellow and orange shorts and beige skirts as well as one piece dresses similar to the summer dress Mia tried on. Not as much as the cool color selection of course, but enough for Mia to have a few things to decide on should she proceed with trying them. And if the girl did end up liking them then Karen was ready to head back out to the store to get a few more. There was just something about dressing up an acquaintance that got her all motivated.

Mia felt somewhat conflicted as the class prez showed her two options in a different color set than she was used to. On one hand she liked both objectively, on the other hand she wasn't sure if she liked what they necessarily meant. Wearing something that was designed to actually catch others attention was quite a bit removed from her usual habit of shirking attention of herself and her tail especially. Thus it was that she found the idea of the shorts a far more comfortable choice not only for its apparent comfort but due to its lack of ability to make an impression. There was of course a desire in the pits of her soul to try on the brightly colored skirt but as it stood she lacked the confidence to wear such a thing.
Her mind sufficiently made up, she placed the bundle of clothes she had selected off to the side on the table apart from the rest. A simple examination of the pile would show that she didn't get too far out of hand grabbing one of each garment that she was looking for. Though she had been talked into one or two things more than she had intended to get, and with the summer dress it would prove expensive as is. This would serve as something of a 'to be purchased' pile and would free up her arms to gather more things. She accepted the shorts and a simple white top to try on at the same time. "I think I'll try these on then. Thank you very much for your advice."
As she retreated into the changing room, she couldn't help but notice a lingering disappointment at having to take the summer dress off. There was something rather comfortable about it, and with the design of the tail slot there was almost no unpleasant rubbing or catching like most of her outfits did. She was a little bit tempted to ask if she could wear it out of the store after purchasing it, but the middle of the mall was hardly the right venue for such a thing. So it was with reluctance that she finally took the dress off and began the process of examining the shorts. Seeing that the tail hole design was quite similar she knew there would be no problems and donned the outfit easily.
Mia took a moment, examining the overall effect of the outfit with interest. Matching colors was largely a nebulous concept to her, one of those things that was difficult to understand, hard to premeditate and yet easy to identify when it was carried out correctly. Clearly the class prez was very good at what she did, as her description of the effect was perfect; quite cozy and subdued. Suffice to say, these would end up on the to-be-purchased pile along with the summer dress as well. Though with her mind now made up, her thoughts drifted back to the other things on that table. Maybe.. another day. Not today, but someday I could be brave enough.
Mia emerged from the change room again and awaited the opinion of the expert, though she didn't hesitate to offer her assent. "I think I like them, what's your opinion?" She awaited the class prez's opinion before adding the summer dress to her purchase pile, feeling some apprehension at the pile's size already. "I must say, this really is quite a wonderful store. Whoever thought to accommodate quirkers was a genius." Mia of course knew that the class prez's family owned the store and given the service and experience she had enjoyed so far, it only seemed right to give praise where it was clearly due.

This was bad. Some way somehow even though she was in customer service mode, she couldn't help but feel deeply amused at her classmate's indecisive expression as she looked and picked out clothes from the selection. It's not like Karen wasn't having fun with this already, but she could certainly go for a little more. Mia's choices were also giving her more insight to the girl's personality. Electing to try on the less flashy options was in line with her own expectations. Perhaps today was not the day that the shark girl would brave something bolder. "You're welcome~"As Mia disappeared back into the dressing room to put on her choices, Karen would fix up and organize what was left behind on the table. She wasn't going to be too pushy here. Looking at what her classmate presumably placed on the to be purchased pile, she was getting quite a few already. She didn't take Mia to be someone who splurged much so she was plenty pleased with what her classmate was already willing to buy. Well she still stood buy her judgment that some of the more vivid warm colors would look great on the shark girl, but they weren't going anywhere. There was plenty of time for Mia to build her confidence to go for them in the future. And Karen would be surely waiting and ready. Mia soon emerged from the changing room sporting the outfit she took earlier. Like last time when asked about her opinion, Karen would circle around the girl looking carefully before speaking. "Yes, it's quite great isn't it? I see the fit is just right. If you're ever interested in a part-time job modeling, please do let me know~"She would say half-jokingly, but it wasn't everyday that she met someone with a great figure and a mutation quirk. That's what made mutation quirks challenging after all, since they tend to vary in appearances. But for your typical teen with a tail, Mia was perfect for the ready-made clothing line they have. She supposed it was to be expected of a hero student to be fit and have a nice physique. "We do give employee discounts~"She would add before hearing Mia praise the store concept. Naturally this made Karen beam with pride. "Of course! That would be Mr. Hoshizora. He started up this business from even before he met my mother. I'm quite proud. Especially considering at that time tolerance for quirks was no where near as pleasant as today. There were many challenges. But persevering through all that is why we enjoy our small success today."Perhaps saying small was being a little too modest. At the very least for those in the know, their brand was among the leading ones for quirker products in the metropolis. With a factory headquarters, a main store, and several smaller stores around Tokyo, their business was on the rise. And the more quirk tolerant society today meant opportunities for expansion was much more available. "So was there anything else you were looking for? Also if there was anything you wanted to wear out of the store, you're very much free to."
