The drive back to Tokyo was a long one to say the least, both Thunder and Nick barely spoke to one another the entire way home. It wasn't until they approached the city that Thunder would turn his focus to Nick for a few moments as he drove.
"Look, you're still welcome to staying in the Underground, but there's something we're going to need to talk about first." He stated flatly and out of nowhere. Surely nick had questions as to why the big leader of the Kobayashi Yakuza went out of his way to rescue him. It wasn't like Thundershock put his neck out for just anyone. So what made Nick all that special? Well he was about to find out.
The reason that Thundershock waited to bring up the subject however was for the safety of his own city. If Nick freaked the fuck out and fled the car, he would still be in Tokyo. If he flipped out and attacked him, it was much easier for him to call reinforcements should he need it. It might just be a conversation, but here Thunder had the home turf advantage.
"You're not curious at all about why I went out of my way to rescue your sorry ass from prison?"

Nick would be lying if he said he did not wonder why Thunder of all people had gone to such extreme lengths to save his ass. There was no denying the Yakuza boss had an interest in him, from the very moment he had taken him in after he beat up two of his goons, to taking him to that bizarre slave auction, to now.
Nick had expected Mother to have been the one to have sprung him from prison. Granted, it would have been much more like her to let him rot for his failure, but he had been unable to think of anyone else who could have orchestrated such an elaborate escape, and had been quietly bracing himself for whatever grisly fate Mother would have planned until Thunder had appeared instead. At that point, his mind had blanked from confusion and shock (ha).
It remained blank as he sat there in silence, staring vacantly at his knees because even looking at Thunder felt too awkward. Why the hell did this guy care about him so much? It could not just be because of the Tokyo 5 incident because Thunder had expressed interest in him before all of that. So what could it be?
Why do you have Lightning Bug’s Quirk?
The words of Hachi Tsutsuji came clawing back. They had haunted him ever since the fateful battle that had cost him an arm. Was it possible Thunder knew something about whoever this ‘Lightning Bug’ was?
Finally, Thunder spoke. Evidently his thoughts about the situation were not that different from Nick’s own. Nick did his best to play it off cool with a shrug and a smirk. “Because I’m just that bloody amazing?”

"Yeah you're something alright." Thunder would respond with a roll of his eyes as he continued to drive. They were nearing downtown now, but instead of continuing on his way Thunder would pull off down some urban side street. Finally he would pull the car over, though left it running in park. He would turn as best he could in his position so that he could properly see Nick.
"Your fathers been missing your entire life right? And your Bi... biological mother gave you us as a young kid. That's why you're in the situation you are now. Well, when one of my kids shows no promise of developing a dual quirk from a young age, I tend to leave them with their mothers with enough money to last them a lifetime. That's worked for a hell of a long time, but about 13 years ago you and Miku went missing. Your mother was meant to send you back to me if she was ever unable to take care of you, and Miku's mother was killed. I wasn't able to find either of you as kids." Thundershock wouldn't hold anything back, going into details as far back as Nick could remember. This was probably not something you could easily find a paper trail of with this 'mother' taking care of his kid. So either Thunder did a hell of a lot of digging, or he was telling the truth. This next part though twisted Thunder's stomach, as he absolutely hated this part of himself.
"As for your quirk, oddly enough you probably inherited that from me as well. Thankfully it's not prominent in me, but looks like it got passed down to you." He would pull his phone out of his pocket, turning on the flashlight feature then bringing the light up to shine into his scared eye. With the light directly on it, Nick would be able to see the fragmentation deep in his eye and the lightly scaled skin around it. It looked like the eye of a bug.

It took more time than Nick would have liked to admit for Thunder’s words to click. He stared. He blinked. He stared some more.
And then he laughed. Loud and uproarious, it was, as if he had just heard the funniest joke ever conceived in the history of mankind. Hysterical, one could even say. It was honestly the hardest he had laughed in as long as he could remember.
He had to admit this was a pretty fucking ballsy move by Thunder to try and get him on his side. During his time in Japan villains had threatened him and bribed him to get him to go along with their dirty work, but claiming to be his long lost biological father was on an entirely new level altogether.
As if Nick would believe that for even a second, though! He had long ago accepted that his biological parents were utter nobodies who had abandoned him because they had been too weak to raise him. So deeply engraved into his psyche was this notion that the mere attempt by someone to suggest the truth was otherwise had him in fits of laughter. Especially by Thunder, of all people.
He shook his head as his finally got his great rolling laughs enough under control to speak; “No, no, you’re not. You’re bullshitting me. There’s no way that you could be...”
And that was when Thunder leaned closer to him and he saw the insectoid inner details of his eye. Nick’s laughter ceased as abruptly as it had begun. Silence.
“No.”
Another head shake, slower this time.
“That can’t be right...”
Nick exploded, his locust-like armour forming over him purely from the rush of emotions that hit him in that moment. Rage and confusion were the most prominent, followed by a hundred others he could not even name.
“What the fuck?” he screamed. Which felt like the understatement of the century. “Then – then who the fuck is Lightning Bug?” The question had haunted him for such a time it came out on its own. “Is she my mother?”

Nick was just laughing it off as a joke which caused the only man to look away from the road for a moment to look at his son. When he looked back at the road though he would just shake his head and let Nick continue to laugh about it, going as far as to saying that Thunder was bullshitting him. It was a pretty natural response truth be told... the odds of finding a long lost biological parent was slim to none... but to also have that parent be the lord of a Yakuza clan and crime syndicate? even less likely. Still though, he didn't say a word, letting the reality of it sink in if Nick chose to believe it.
As first it seemed Thunder would need to do more convincing, though as soon as he showed him his eye, you could see the panic and disbelief spread across Nick's face followed by a scream of disbelief. Finally, reality had set in.
"Not the conclusion I first drew when I found you either, believe me" He made sure to state. When Thunder had first found Nick he'd been nothing but a whiny bitch of a child. He'd grown up a lot since then, sure, but to find out himself that Nick was his kid took some acceptance on his part as well. Though, he had longer to let that stew than Nick did. Nick then asked him about lightning bug and Thunder audibly grunted. How the fuck did he know about her?? He'd made sure her story was dead and buried here in Japan... but then again, Nick hadn't grown up here, but much closer to her...
"Like fuck she's your mother. That old hag's never been a mother to anyone. She's biologically your grandmother. Not that she knows you or I even exist."
