The alarm clock rings. Kazu gets out of bed, rolling side to side. He yawns and stares at the alarm clock. 5:00 AM. Seems like a good enough time to go there. Kazu sighs and bounces off the mattress, then looks above him. Looks like Red left early for his morning jog. He should get a move on as well.
Kazu looks for something to wear. He grabs a red hoodie and starts putting on some jeans. He glances around for a bag he prepared. Oh, it's next to the bed, along with...some water bottle? Oh well. He searches through it and sighs in relief. Whew, it's still here. He then gets dressed up, he brushes his teeth, and he fixes his hair. Can't afford to look messy today. Not today at the very least.
He grabs the bag and starts to head out when someone walks in. It's Red, who appears to be searching for something. Kazu looks behind him; Oh that's why he's here. He forgot his water bottle. He usually takes it with him during his morning jog...
Wow it is early, isn't?
He waves at Red. "Oh, hey Red. Mornin." He gives off a small smile then grabs the bag. "I'm just gonna head for a bit. I'll probably be gone for today....um." He passes Red and heads out the dorm. "Bye."
Lying on the desk, and draped along the chair is his diary and fancy coat, with the ascot lying on the ground.

Today was....weird to say the least. The night before Kaz had told Red that he was going somewhere early in the morning, so he was going back to the dorm early. Kid even asked if that was fine, it was strange. He didnt even ask in his usual way of speaking, he just talked like a regular person. It raised a few alarm bells in Reds head, but the kid didnt seem like he was gonna do something stupid or anything, so he just put it to the back of his mind, going back to talking in UA chat and using his new free time not trying to avoid him to make some decent food for once, play some games, just generally goof off. It was actually rather relaxing, he hadnt really taken a break or anything since he'd moved in, thanks to needing to avoid Kaz.....no offense to the guy, but he could be INSUFFERABLE in large doses, despite being a pretty decent dude when you got past the chunni bullshit. He ended up actually feeling tired for once, and had a decent nights sleep to boot. When he woke up in the morning, he was feeling more refreshed than usual, full of energy and ready to go on his morning run. It was close to 5 anyway, so once he got dressed and everything he should be good to go...plus he could actually get food for once before his run. He ate quick, got changed, and then got ready to head out, but for some reason couldnt find his "Water" bottle, it was actually filled with juice, that he took on his runs with him. He figured he probably left it in the kitchen or something and went to go find it. Unfortunatly, he was unable to find it where he probably would have kept it, and searched the entire kitchen before going back to his room for another quick sweep. Maybe it got knocked over or something last night, who knows. What he witnessed when he got back to the room, however, made him rethink his plans for the morning. What he saw was.....a perfectly normal human being, getting ready to head out. What the fuck is going on? He thought to himself.
Kaz had swapped out his usual chunni coat and ascot for a perfectly normal hoodie and jeans, with a backpack slung around his shoulder, with only one strap. This was....weird to say the least, but maybe today was important to him or something? The alarm bells from last night has returned, but again, he disregarded em for now atleast. He spotted his "Water" Juice bottle atleast, it'd been next to the bed, right where he usually left it....how come he didnt see it earlier? Eh whatever, he had it now. The alarm bells got triggered again as he walked in though, cause Kaz greeted him...normally, again. Ok seriously what the fuck is up with this kid today? Red asked himself. Kaz had seemed off since last night, but this was just weird. He was even TALKING normally, as if the chunni he had been previously had just....up and vanished. He wasnt even carrying his book, it must be in the backpack or something. Red looked confused at this situation, and in his confusion, barely noticed that Kaz had already left the room and was down the hall. "Huh, i guess he must be going out with his family or something" Red told himself, picking up his bottle and getting ready to head back out for his run....then he noticed something on the desk. Kaz had left his fucking diary behind, the thing that Red figured was his most treasured possession, considering he could get Kaz to shut up by merely threatening to throw it out/burn it/rip the pages out when he was going full on chunni. It was at this moment that Red decided that he had to know what the fuck was going on, so he dashed out to the front of the dorm, so he could follow Kaz around and see where he was going.
He had a bad feeling, but couldnt explain why. Just where the fuck was Kaz going? His brain asked him

The morning sun's bright. Usually around this time, the clouds would cover up the sunlight, or at the very least it felt that way whenever Kazu gets awakened by Red in the morning. It happens rarely, but once in a while the guy tends to just make a loud enough sound that it just scares the hell out of him... Usually it's a loud swear, or a loud explosion (which for the record, he doesn't want to know why).
Kazu grabs his train pass and taps it on the usual place, passing the train gate and waiting for his time. He sits down on a bench, and looks around himself. They said they'll meet up around this time, so where are they? Kazu looks a bit confused, then shakes his head. Eh, it's fine. At the very least, they promised.
Kazu takes out his phone and scrolls down. He's been taking notes for the 4th Corner event, and what to do for it. Since he left his notebook at the dorm, he decides to look up actual music to find some inspiration. He could just sing his favorite song, but well, he was never that good at reaching the high notes. Plus, his sister is a bit stage shy, so they can't really do a duet. Well, if push comes to shove, I could just go full "Chronicler" again. People tend to find that amusing. He chuckles a bit, then scrolls through Utube looking for a proper backbeat to play.
10 minutes have passed. Still no sign of them. Where are the-
His phone rings. Could this be them?
"Hey! Um, we said we're gonna meet here, right? Ye-yeah, got my ticket and ev-wha? What do you me- But I got the bag and- Well yeah I know that you have work and- Breakfast tho-...But today is-Ye-yeah. Yeah." Kazu's tone grows a bit more bitter, and lets out a large sigh. "Do-do we still have the picnic at the usual place this afternoon, though?"
Silence, then Kazu lets out a sigh of relief. "Okay. That's cool. I'll just...see you there then. Bye." He hangs up, without his usual farewell.
Great. Juuuust great. He frowns. Of all times she just had to have an appointment.
He stares at the passing train. Usually, he would just go back to the dorm and have some shut eye. He's not built for a early morning routine. But then again...he could just go right now. They did say they'll meet up later.
When the next train passes by, Kazu gets up and enters the door.
He forgot the backpack filled with picnic supplies and treats.

Before he got to the front of the dorm, Red had dashed back to his room, to pick up Kaz's book. He wasnt gonna read it or anything, but for some reason he felt like taking it with him was a good idea. Not wanting to waste anymore time, in case he lost him, Red jumped out his window, since that was faster. While in the air he caught a glimpse of Kaz, who since he was wearing a Red hoodie, was VERY easy to see, just as he left the front gate and headed to, what Red figured, the train station, since if he remembered right it was in that direction. Red ran to the gate as he could, and got there in time to see Kaz turn the corner. "Yup, definitely the train station" He muttered, Dashing down to the turn so he didnt lose him, Knocking his hood up so it wasnt as obvious who he was. Besides, he looked like any old teen, in his Red jacket with a hood, Black shirt, Slate black jeans, fingerless gloves and sneakers...ok maybe not any old teen cause of the skates, gloves and quirk bracelets but still, he looked pretty inconspicuous right now. He hoped. He looked like a deliquent. He'd tucked the book under his arm so he didnt drop it, he didnt wanna lose what he figured was Kaz's pride and joy or whatever it was.
Getting to the corner, he peeked around it, and saw Kaz a little down the road. So he put his hand in his pockets and started following him, keeping his head down so the hood covered his face better. He was used to walking like this anyway, trying to avoid fights before the incident that got him a record...still did it after that, just made it harder cause everyone had an idea on who he was.....thanks quirk, you asshole....Ah shit almost lost him there. Red thought, as Kaz turned another corner so he could get up the train station steps. Luckily Red carried his wallet and phone on him at all times, so he didnt have to worry about having to buy a ticket or anything. He leaned against a piller to avoid Kaz seeing him, which was actually pretty close to the bench Kaz decided to sit at. Kid looked confused, but it was probably cause whoever was supposed to be here hadnt shown up yet. Man, why did this situation sound so familair to him? Red just stood there for a few minutes, as Kaz was scrolling around on his phone. He was starting to get kinda pissed on Kaz's behalf, It looked like he was getting stood up. Red felt that familar feeling in his chest again, it was like deja vu or something. He chuckled a little to himself. Pffft, its not like he's about to get a phone call calling the whole thing off or somethin, ri----. Kaz's phone rang. Oh fuck off theres no way. Red told himself, trying to keep his anger contained, as he listened to the rather brief phone call. That familar feeling in his chest started to ache. He didnt need to hear whatever was on the other side....he'd heard it too many times himself.
Tch, fuckin work i guess. He spat in his mind. Least it sounded like he didnt get completely stood up. Poor bastard, he didnt look happy about it. He understood the feeling well. He'll probably head back to the dorm to goof off for a bit, maybe study or something. If Red was in this situation he'd just go walking around the city until something happened...usually a fight, but its not like he went looking for those. Besides, Kaz seemed like he had a decent head on his shoulders, despite the chunniness. So suffice to say, Red was surprised to see that Kaz decided to just get on the next train to come into the station, seemingly not caring where he goes. Should i keep following him, so he stays out of trouble? He'll probably be fine, but.... Reds thought trailed off, as he noticed that Kaz has left his bag behind. His decision was already made, he ran over there, grabbed it, and just barely made it onto the train before the doors closed, a little ways down the car from Kaz, yet still able to clearly see him. He kept his hood down, and the Bag hidden for now atleast. Luckily Kaz was in the door seat, so he could just drop it next to him later if he needed too at the next station....but he was gonna keep following Kaz just in case he got into any trouble. He felt like it was his job too, after that phone call.
No kid deserves to get stood up by their parents like its fuckin nothing, goddammit. Especially when its an important day. Tch. Red told himself....now he knew why this situation felt so familar to him. Word Count: 840 Kazu Fureu

It takes a few minutes to get to the station nearest to his destination. In the meanwhile, Kazu sits back and drowns him in his thoughts. The fact that she couldn't get there in time wasn't the thing that annoyed him. No, the thing that annoyed him the most was-
A realization has dawn on him. When was the last time he checked up on his backpack?
Kazu looks around him. It's not here. ...Oh no, t's not there.
Kazu freaks out, but tries to keep it under wraps. Okay, think about this, Kaz. This is no biggie, all you did was lose a backpack. It's not like it had anything important in it, right? Yes, sure, you had some cool patches sewn on it but that's about it honestly, it's not like you had something like your phone or wallet in it..
Kazu reaches inside his pocket. Yup, his wallet's still here, so is his phone. See? Nothing impor-
This is horrible. This is a disaster. Complete and utter disaster. Kaz hangs his head, groaning. Of course today had to be the day where anything can go wrong. He just had to leave the bag behind him back at the station. Looks like he's gonna have to go back...wait didn't his wallet contain his train pass? Kazu groans even louder, then starts fuming in frustration through the rest of the train, even more angry than before.
As the train stops, Kazu gets up, and gives off one more glance. Damn it, I don't see it here, managing to completely gloss over the hooded figure and the backpack which has so just happened to blend with...
No, Kazu was just angry that he didn't even see the bag. He's a bit of an idiot.
He steps off the train and heads out. No use worrying about it now. He'll just get a new bag after this, and he'll argue about losing it with his mom later. Right now, at the very least he can just go and do the thing he came here to do. No early morning breakfast picnic, no early morning jog, no nothing.
He steps outside the station and looks at his phone. "Alright then...should be this way? Gaaaah, usually she knows the exact place...I'll just ask someone." He walks over to someone who appears to be a local. "Uh, excuse me? Do you know where the graveyard usually is?" The local pauses, then points to the general location. "Thanks, sorry about that."
He heads off, unaware of the man who is following his every step. To be honest, it's surprising that he hasn't caught on yet.

Sitting there, on the train, just a few seats down from Kaz, Red wondered how he hadnt been noticed yet. He hadnt changed his clothes at all from what Kaz saw earlier, and he, despite trying his best, didnt look like an average teen, he looked like a moody deliquent running from something or someone. If Kaz was alert he'd probably have been caught by now, but it looked like has just in his own head, trying to work though whatever he was currently feeling....If Red had to guess, probably a mix of anger, disappointment and sadness. Thats what he got from the dudes face when he peeked at him periodically from behind his hood. One good thing about everyone not talking to you for years, you get really good at observing people, and doing it in a way that makes it hard for you to get caught. Its how he used to pass the time during lunch or homeroom, just observing the conversations of those around him....Kinda made him jealous at points, watching everyone around him get to goof off and have fun....while he got the shit kicked outta him or avoided cause of his record. Kaz's head perked up, looking around the train car for something. Looks like he's realised he forgot his pack. Red observed. Kaz wasnt looking like he was taking it well, He tried to hide it, but he could tell the kid was freaking out a bit. After a few seconds he took a deep breath, seemingly not thinking it was a big deal, probably realising he could just go back and get it once the train stopped at the next station. After all, he probably still had his phone and wallet on him, right? He saw Kaz reach into his pocket, making Red confident that his assertion was correct. Then Kaz started rummaging through all his pockets, and Reds eyes widened a little. Who the fuck keeps important stuff like their wallet in their backpack? Red was honestly confused that anyone would do that, and at how bad Kaz's luck was today. He peeked over again, Kaz was hanging his head and groaning a little. Looked like he wasnt happy that he had to head back.....could he even head back? Didnt he keep his train pass in his wallet like most peop---Yep, Yep he does. Red thought, as Kaz groaned even louder and started fuming in frustration, pacing up and down the car. Red took the chances while Kaz had his back turned to try and feel if his phone was in the backpack....Yup, looked like they were both in there alright, along with....a bunch of food? Was he going out for a picnic with his family or somethin? Must have had a nice day planned before he got stood up. He spat out again in his mind. He didnt know what today was, but judging for Kaz's reactions it was important. It was getting slightly harder to keep his slight pissed off ness under wraps, the ache in his chest, a familar feeling in the kind of situation Kaz was in, was starting to remind him of his own experiences....."Tch" Red muttered under his breath.
When the train stopped, Kaz didnt get off immediatly, instead opting to sweep the entire train car, probably looking for his bag. He was looking closely at everything, trying to almost will the thing to be there. When he got to Reds seat he looked straight at him, and Red kept his head down, and the bag mostly covered. ...Shit he knows, doesnt he? Red thought, as Kaz lingered around him for a second, before shaking his head and heading out. Red would given him the bag back, but A) it would mean Kaz knew he was being followed, and he probably wouldnt like that and B) It would look like he stole the bag. If Kaz hadnt been angrily pacing up and down the train Red would have dropped it close to him, but he never had chance. He gave Kaz a few seconds to get a slight headstart before he followed, so he didnt look too suspicious. As he got up he put Kaz's book into the bag, it having just enough room to fit without crushing anything, as he moved stuff around to make it work like a wall between his back and the food. Slinging the bag on his shoulder, only one strap used, he made his way out of the train, and quickly ducked behind a pillar as Kaz was looking at his phone....seemed like he was planning on going somewhere, but didnt exactly know where it was or something. Kaz turned to what looked like a local and......asked him where the graveyard was before apologising........ What the fuck is wrong with your family, Kaz? Red asked himself, venom in his fuckin mind.
Red was fucking pissed off, barely managing to keep a lid on it so he could keep following Kaz without alerting him. Now he knew why today was so important, and how much of a fuck up Kaz's family was for standing him up. "Tch" Red once again muttered under his breath.

The early morning weather usually isn't the time many people would normally associate to go to the graveyard. Neither would many people associate "going to the graveyard" as a "normal" occasion. In fact, the only times one would go to a graveyard is when something serious has happened. Of course, nothing has happened. In fact, one could consider this an anniversary of sorts.
Kazu travels down the path to the cemetery while the man in red continues to not-so-subtly follow him from a not-so-subtle distance, containing a not-so-subtle backpack with several items inside. He must be wondering: why the hell would this kid go to the graveyard at a very early time with a backpack filled with several sandwiches and small water bottles and juice packets, along with an assortment of snacks such as chips, apples, carrots, all of the sort. Also: Why the hell is it the goddamn graveyard?! Of all places to go to for an assumed picnic, you don't usually go to a place filled with decayed bodies and skeletons beneath the ground. Like, there are some people who are into that, some that are reaaaaaally into that, but Kaz didn't seem like one. Hopefully he isn't either. He must be wondering about that, at the very least.
5 minutes past and the morning sun continues to shine. Kazu finally reached his destination. Open, as usual. Still weird. He shakes his head and heads within, with the red hooded fellow barely tempted to enter within the actual site. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but at the moment there were no obvious red hooded man following Kazu. Instead it was just him and a lot of tombstones.
He never really did like this place, but can you blame him? Look around this dump, tons of horrible things must have happened to a lot of people buried here. Like that one tombstone with a cross on top of it, maybe he got run in by some sort of weird yakuza deal. This one was a plain and simple stone with no writing on it. Perhaps they died forgotten, with no one to even bother giving them their name. Kazu passes by yet another tombstone, with this one being a fancy small statue. They must have been cared for, or at the very least it was a sort of pity present for the afterlife...kinda stupid if you think about it. If they're ghosts they can't really touch the tombstone , just look at it. All of these tombstones hold a story, but usually its all the same. Either you get killed, die of old age...
Or maybe they got a disease and suffered a terminal end.
Fureu Li 2018 - 2060
There was a plaque in the middle of the small stone, with an image of his face covered in glass. That time of the year again.
Silence. Kazu just...stands there. He keeps a straight face, shifting his eyes right and left, shuffling his hands inside his pocket, and occasionally looking back just to see if they have arrived yet.
He never actually did this...alone. In fact, the only person who really pushed this whole tradition was his mom. He barely even knew the guy, and you just expect to have one day all about him? At this point of time Kazu's more acquainted with her boyfriends rather than his own dad. What can he even say? Mom usually talks about her day, what they did this year, laugh about her flings, have him and his sister stand in front of it for the yearly photo, and place last year's photo in a fancy little frame just for him. Now all of a sudden she can't come, and his sister won't even call him up to even ask him if he really wants to come.
Kazu grips his fist a bit, but lets out a loud sigh. His phone snaps him out of his frustration as he picks it up. Looks like it's gonna be at the park later today....at 4 PM...Oh for god's s-
Kazu glares at the tombstone. It's his fault but it isn't even his fault. That's the worst part. He practically forced himself to come here, instead of rescheduling it for another time. He could have laid in bed thinking about what to discuss with his family then do it here, with them together. He even took the time to get some supplies for the picnic, and he even lost the damn bag! Also his wallet, but that is not impor- actually it is very important and he actually REALLY NEEDS IT-
Calm down. Deep breathes. Breathe in...and breathe out. Focus.
He glares at the tombstone once more. He gives off a small smile.
"So um...I got into UA. Not that you really know what that is, but...It's for heroes. Kinda cool, right?" He speaks into the empty space in front of him. It's better than nothing.
"...Think I'm making some new friends...maybe. Not really sure. But hey! I got into a class with some of my classmates for a practice 3v3! It was pretty fun." A breeze replied.
Kazu places his hands inside the hoodie. He just glares at it.
"...I'll um...come back with mom and sis. Right?...Right." He walks away and waves goodbye to his dad.
When he reaches the gate he sees the red-hooded idiot hiding behind one of the pillars. The two stare at each other, then Kazu says:
"Oh. Um...finished with the jog already? Kinda far, don't you think?" He nervously chuckles.

Red was barely able to keep himself from running up to Kaz, giving him his bag back and running all the way back to the dorm on his own. He wasnt good at talking to people, this wasnt his business, he'd probably make the situation worse, especially with his barely hidden disdain for Kaz's family. He wasnt sure which member had called him, or if Kaz had siblings or anything, but no one had showed up to the station where he was waiting, so honestly, Red was willing to tell every single one of Kaz's family members to go fuck themselves. He knew continuing to follow was a bad idea.....but he couldnt just leave the kid alone to deal with what he assumed was the day one of his family died, on his own. Why else would Kaz ask about a graveyard? The kid was a chunni sure, but he didnt seem the type to hang out in graveyards just cause skeletons are cool or somethin like that. No one should have to deal with that solo, especially not someone Reds age. So he kept following, barely bothering to keep himself hidden at this point, Kaz was probably too focused on where he was going to notice anything anyway. As he continued to walk down the path, Red started to laugh at himself in his mind, as he remembered how he tried to parallel the situation here with his own parents earlier. He remembered how he thought Kaz's parents were similar to his, blowing off important days for work appointments, leaving him and his sister alone most of the time, almost never taking a break from their respective field to actually raise their goddamn kids. Yet even he knew that they wouldnt pull something like this. Hell, sure, his dad decided that "Spending time with your kids" means dragging them around while you pitched Quirk related stuff to businesses, but they atleast TRIED to be around when it mattered. Like how they both took some time off work after he got his record to just be around and help, since Reds arms were fucked and his sister was terrified of him.....And atleast when they were around they seemed decent enough. Red shook his head, there was no point in thinking about it, Their situations were similar to a point, but Kaz's were a bit of a magnitude higher. Missing a birthday or two wasnt as bad as missing the anniversey of a family members death, for fucks sake. Continuing to follow, Red sighted the graveyard a bit down the road, and was faced with a crossroads. Should he follow and eavesdrop on Kaz's mourning? Should he just drop the bag at the gates and leave? Should he wait around and keep following him so he doesnt get into trouble? As he was thinking this, an answer came to him, in the form of a small flower store, looked like it had just opened for the day.... Damn thats an early start. Red thought, before he opened the door and walked in. He didnt need to follow Kaz too closely, he knew where the kid was going...relatively speaking. The old lady behind the counter seemed surprised to get a customer so early, but was nice enough to not question it. She asked what Red needed, and he just asked for something small to place on a grave. She nodded to him, and after a couple minutes, Red left, with a litte bouquet of white flowers hanging out of Kaz's backpack. He walked at a fast pace, wanting to atleast catch up to Kaz so he could atleast know where he is. Hopefully he hadnt left the graveyard yet, but Red wouldnt know until he looked. It only took a couple minutes to find him, as he was still walking around, trying to find a certain grave. He eventually found it, and luckily there was a tree close by for Red to hide behind, off to the side of the grave stones. He thought he'd been rumbled when Kaz started to look around, but after a couple seconds he realised it was more due to nerves than anything. He looked like he was having trouble just being there, with nothing to say. Leaving your son to do this alone....goddammit. Red thought, trying to keep calm so he didnt get caught. He snapped out of it when he heard Kaz sigh and look at his phone, which didnt seem to help as Kaz looked more visibly frustrated after he looked at whatever message he just got. Probably told him to cancel or delay their plans for today.....cunts. Red figured, based on Kaz's reaction. God he was hating the guys family more and more every second, this was gonna be a problem later probably. He took a deep breath to calm down, and takes a peak at the tombstone. He didnt need the googles on his head to see what it read. His dad died when he was 42, if his math was right so.....Kaz would have barely known him.... Man, he looked like a decent guy from the picture on the tombstone. Red started to want to leave, to give Kaz the privacy he probably deserved for whatever he was going to say... then he started talking. He started to talk about how he'd gotten to UA, and how cool that was....How he wasnt really sure if he was making friends or not, and how fun classes were....with what looked like a genuine smile on his face. Red felt a pit of guilt start to deepen in his stomach. He remembered how he'd treated Kaz for the past few days....How their first meeting involved him attempting to teach Kaz how to play Kojiro, with little results...how badly he'd reacted when he found out they were going to be room mates....how he'd fucking barricaded his door to attempt to keep him out, eventually ending up knocking the kid out with a basketball, before getting knocked out himself.....how he continually threatened to burn/throw out/rip pages out of his book to get him to shut up.....he kinda understood why he might act the way he did....well not entirely, but it was better than nothing. He heard Kaz start to say goodbye to his dad, and Red took that as his cue to leave, hustling to the gate as fast as he could without looking suspicous, and waited there for Kaz to meet him. When Kaz arrived, they both just stared at eachother for a second, before Kaz asked him if he'd finished his jog already and remarked on the distance. Red just threw him his back pack. "You dropped this." He told him, before turning around and starting to walk, hands back in his jacket pockets. He didnt know if Kaz was following or not, but it didnt matter. He half turned back to him, with his hood down and just asked, very awkwardly "Hey, you wanna go get breakfast and hang out for a bit? It'll be on me" With a friendly smile, while awkwardly rubbing the back of his head. He'd keep him company until he had to go meet his family atleast, it was the least he could do to make up for the last few days. Kid deserved to not have to deal with most of the day alone, after all. Maybe they'd become friends after this, who knows. All Red knew was that he needed to look out for him. Kazu looks a bit confused when Red threw him his backpack. Didn't he forget this at the station? He shoves his hand inside it to make sure it's actually his as Red begins to leave. Inside were the sandwiches and the snacks and even his wallet! How did Red find this? Did he managed to find it while jogging? Inside the station? Also, why was his diary here as well? He could have sworn that he left it on the de-Oooooooh, that's what he was doing. Red must have been worried for him. Still, a weird reason to worry about, like it's just his diary, not like he knew about- Oh.
Kazu sheepishly smiles, a bit embarrassed that he made Red worry that much. "Do-don't worry, it was just family business, you don't gotta worry." He says to Red. He really doesn't need to overplay the situation, besides he really doesn't want to lay it all out on his roommate. He has no real need to know nor worry, so might as well-
As Red kept trying to walk away, Kazu heard a sigh. He half turned back to Kazu, with his hood down and just asked, very awkwardly: "Hey, you wanna go get breakfast and hang out for a bit? It'll be on me." This was...unexpected. Kazu looks a bit shocked, turns his head around to the side clearly confused at this gesture of kindness.
Red seemed like a rowdy..."asshole" a lot of the time, but even when they first met in the arcade Kazu could tell that this guy was pretty alright. He wasn't really surprised at the fact that he offered breakfast, it was more that...he actually bothered. He actually bothered to take a bit of his jogging time to just check up on some kid he barely knows on his way to the cemetery. It's kinda weird, but a good weird. "...Uh. Ye-yeah. Sure. It's still early, so I'm not sure if any of the usual places are even open now...What did you have in mind?" He stares at the backpack. "It better not be this though, I'm still saving this for later." He semi-jokingly states.

Red was surprised that Kaz hadnt turned him down. He figured the kid would have wanted to be left alone or something, but the kid actually took him up on his offer. Looked like he hadnt figured out that Red'd been following him since the dorm, he just attributed it to "Taking time out of his jog" or something, judging from earlier. Like hell he was going to jog now, He was gonna spend his entire day with him if he had too, atleast until his family showed up....When he'd have to leave or else risk getting very pissed off and shouting at them about it. Kaz asked him what he had in mind, and honestly, He had no goddamn idea. He was still new to the place, so he hadnt actually found anything beyond a Mcdolans to get food from, and that was only cause it was close by. Plus they didnt have a car, since most of those were only 24/7 through the drive thru. "Eh, im sure we'll find somewhere to go, if we walk around a bit." He told Kaz. Sure, it wasnt a lie, but he probably could have thought of something better. After saying that, Kaz told him half jokingly that the food in his back pack was off limits, and Red was confused for a brief second. Not because of the food, but because Kaz told a joke. KAZ, OF ALL PEOPLE, TOLD A JOKE. It was very fucking surprising to say the least, and Red laughed a little "Dude, i figured, dont worry about it. Lets get going." He replied to him. He wasnt that much of a jackass, he knew the food in there was off limits. "By the way, didnt look in the book, just so you know" He told Kaz as they walked off to go find some food. Wanted to make sure that Kaz didnt think he was a nosy prick or anything like that. It took a while of walking and idle chatter before they found a place that was open, and it had a very early start it seemed. Place looked like a family resturant, a really nice looking one at that, and it had a bunch of stuff on the menu. Most of it looked like it might be Korean or something, since he didnt understand what half the menu said, but he'd have to ask Hye later, he wasnt exactly an expert when it came to the field of cusine origins. He just told Kaz to order whatever he wanted, didnt matter how much it cost, cause Red just wanted him to have a good time after getting blown off by whoever was on the other end of the phone. Plus he was fucking starving anyway, he once again had forgetten to eat....He hoped Hye never found out about that, she might kill him by force feeding him. After they ordered he once again attempted small talk, about anything really, he wasnt exactly good at it, until the food arrived, and they would both take their time eating before heading back out again. This time, Once again, Red intended to just wander the city until they found something fun to do, be it an arcade, the batting cages, whatever it took to pass the time til Kaz had to go back to his dad and meet with his family. Whatever they ended up doing, he hoped Kaz didnt feel like shit cause Red had barged in on his private family stuff. "You sure you're alright though, Kaz?" He'd eventually ask him. He knew that Kaz had told him not to worry about it earlier cause family business, but Red still felt like he had to ask. He stuttered after all, thats usually a bad sign. Word Count: 634 Kazu Fureu

Kaz was mostly just surprised that this restaurant was even open at this time.
The two passed the time talking about minor things. Mostly about school and any other combat classes they were either signed up for or already have done. They also talked about...well actually they didn't really talk about anything other than stuff they've seen online or heard within the dorms. It was a bit nice to chat about these sort of things with your roommate. Usually they'll try to run away or cover up their face with their pillow whenever you deliver one of many awesome speeches. Still, a lone thought floating among the mindscape: Does Red even knows where he's going?
He just keeps leading Kaz around the morning 'crowd', looking for any open place to chow down at. He could have sworn Red was looking for at the very least some sort of burger joint, or a food stand. He wouldn't mind a food stand, they had some tasty stuff once in a while. But Red kept going at it, trying to find at least something to make up to Kaz's morning. It's not that big of a deal, plus there wasn't any need to worry about it...but it was nice. It was a nice feeling.
They found one open with a breakfast and lunch menu, looking one of those family restaurants with a small buffet all wrapped up in a Korean styled ribbon. The two stare at the menus and casually chat about how some of these items seem a bit weird for 'breakfast". Kaz played it safe and grabbed some eggs and bacon. Not sure about Red's choice, though. Poor guy looked like he starved himself. Was this all from that jog?
Red kept staring at him, as if he wanted to tell him something, but couldn't. It's fine, Kaz was too busy stuffing his mouth with scrambled eggs so he couldn't either. It's impolite to talk while eating, so the majority of the time the two just kept on eating; Kaz eating a well deserved breakfast and Red eating...well he was eating a lot of food. Like wow, he actually was starving, who would have guessed.
Kaz checked the backpack out of habit. Everything was still inside, including his diary. He already grabbed his wallet and shoved it in his pocket, he's not gonna risk losing it again. He was confused that Red even bothered bringing it to the first place, though.
"Hey uh, why did you bring my diary in the first place? Thought you would have chucked it to the junkyard the first chance you get?" He jokingly ribbed at Red. Before he answered, a phone call interrupted the two. "Huh. I'll just...Nah i'll do it right now. Excuuuuuse me!" He leaves the table and steps near the exit. "Oh hey, 'Nemi. Y-yeah I left the cemetery. I wasn't gonna wait there li-like come on, dead people." He moves closer to the door in case things get explosive. "...Yeah...well we're just gonna...uh-huh. Oh, now you wanna...suuuuuure...yeah yeah, i'll see you later, right now i'm with a friend....Yes ha ha very funny. 'Truly a thing to rejoice,' yeah yeah, don't do that, that is my thing, also you suck at it like, you can't even make good speech- Right." He started to walk away from the door, closer to where Red was sitting at. "Right...where am I? Well I'm at...uh..." He asks for the name of this restaurant and repeats it on the phone. "...Why you ask? ...Seriously? Oh my- do you really have to-Fine. See you later."
Kaz returned to the table, a bit annoyed. "Well, hope you weren't looking forward for paying for two, 'cause someone else is coming out of her own regard. Sorry..." Kaz shrugs and takes a sip of the orange juice.
Red didn't catch most of it, but with the way the majority of the call went, it sounded like Kaz was talking to his mom.

Red was fucking hungry. He hadnt realised it until he sat down, but his stomach had a message for him, and it was very loud and clear: YOU'RE FUCKING STARVING, THERE IS FOOD HERE, HURRY THE FUCK UP AND FILL ME UP. It bellowed at his brain, as it began its battle cry of growling like a alpha wolf protecting its pack or some shit. Hopefully it wasnt loud enough for the whole damn resturant to hear, but Red didnt like his odds on that bet. Kaz, despite his offer to pay for whatever, decided to play it safe with eggs and bacon, at a Korean? place for some reason. Dunno, Ko-Cho was probably Korean or something, Red didnt know, he wasnt Hye or one of the Korea Krew. As for Red......since he was hungry, he ordered a BUNCH of stuff, he just scanned for the cheapest stuff and got a bunch of it. The waiter looked at him like he was insane, but then heard the war cry of Reds stomach, and his "You got a problem?" look on his face, and just nodded in understanding before walking off to tell the chef how much of a job this kid was gonna give him. While they waited, Red continued to attempt to talk to Kaz, since he seemed? to be doing a good job. It was hard to tell when Red himself was involved, it was weird. They talked about their respective combat classes with the second years coming up, AKA The one where Kaz probably gets stabbed and Red ends up probably getting exploded into a crater like that one guy in early Wyvern Orb...what was his name again? Red couldnt remember off the top of his head, all he could remember was he was a cool guy who turned into a jobber FAST. Wolf Fang Fist was cool as shit, man.
Their food arrived surprisingly quick, considering how much they ordered, and Red realised the daunting task he had in front of him. While Kaz's half of the table was pretty barren, only containing a fairly big helping of bacon and eggs, to be fair, Reds half was almost full to bursting with different dishes. He didnt even know what half this shit was, but it was meat and it smelled like heaven, causing his stomach to tell him to stop fuckin staring and start fuckin eating. As his mouth watered, he gulped and obliged it, and just starting going to town, becoming almost like a humaniod hoover, taking literal seconds to ingest one dish before moving onto the next. He honestly wanted to ask Kaz how he was, if he was holding up alright, you know just the general concerned questions, but since he had about 5 different types of meat in his mouth currently that would be a little difficult to do without looking fucking disgusting in the process. He'd keep trying to ask but not finding the words too or having too much food in his mouth. He was about 3/4ths done with his food when Kaz started to check his backpack, probably just to grab his wallet and make sure Red hadnt nicked anything. As he got his wallet out, he looked back into the bag with a confused look on his face, almost as if he didnt understand why the book was there.
Yup, was definitely confusion cause of the book, since Kaz asked him about it. He even joked about how he thought Red would have thrown it into the junk or something first chance he got. Red choked for a second, Kaz had told ANOTHER Joke, it was hard to comprehend. While he whacked his chest and attempted to answer, Kaz's phone rang, and Reds anger that he thought had dissipated by now came back in full force. He swallowed hard, in an attempt to keep it in check, and was about to answer the question when he excused himself and went to take his call. As he walked off, Red strained his ears, trying to hear if this was another call from whoever stood him up or an actual decent human being. He only caught the start of it, when he greeted whoever it was.....Did he say Nemi? Mummy? Demi? Kemi? It ended in a Mi or Y sound, thats all he could tell, since Kaz had moved closer to the door to prevent the very thing Red was trying to do. So he decided to say fuck it and continue his mission to finish his bloody plate...or plates in this case. He still kept an eye on Kaz though, who looked like he was having trouble speaking with whoever was on the other side. Red thought about trying to lip read to try and understand what he was saying, but he turned to face the door so that option was out. By the time he started to walk back Red had pretty much finished his food, and since he was walking back, Red managed to catch the tail end of the phone call.
Seemed like whoever was on the other side wanted to know where Kaz was, since he asked Red for the name of the place. "Its Ko-Cho, i think?" He told him, it sounded right in his head. Kaz asked the other side why, looked like he panicked a little, then said goodbye to whoever it was. Reds eyebrow raised, as Kaz told him he was now going to be paying for 3 people, for some reason. He took a rather large gulp of his water that he'd refilled too many times at this point, mostly to keep his anger contained so he could just calm down. It may have worked outwardly, but inwardly he was spitting bullets. Who the fuck does his mum thinks she is, blowing off her son on the day his dad died just cause "Oh, a work appointment came up, sorry deal with it yourself" or some shit like that, and then as soon as she hears that her son has a friend whos paying for his food she's all "Oh since your friend is paying i guess i HAVE To show up, its free food after all". God fucking dammit if i see her its gonna be hard to not fuckin give her a piece of my bloody mind, i swear to chri---- Reds thoughts on the matter were cut off, as Kaz signaled that whoever he was paying for had walked in. Red put his arm on the stall seat as he turned around to get a good look at whoever it, as she walked in, spotted them and started to walk over. As she did, Red anger instantly evaporated, his face dropped, he gulped and he knew three things in his mind.
1. This was not Kaz's mother, there was no way in goddamn hell she was that young. 2. He was definetly paying for her food now. 3. He remembered how bad his track record was when it came to girls.....Fuck how do you talk to them again? Word Count: 1188 Kazu Fureu

Of all odds, it turns out that Kaz's 'beloved' and 'totally not annoying at all behold all belief' sister Hanemi just so happened to be doing an errand for her half time job, and JUST SO HAPPENED to be around the same place where him and Red are at. Oh of course, go to your job instead of going to the graveyard to say hello to your dead dad, I'm sure you really need that money to spend on more clothes and other stuff- Kaz tried his best to not show any frustration in front of Red, who appears to be sipping some water. Probably it's to digest all that food he just ate.
A few minutes pass and Hanemi walks through the door, wearing half of her uniform , with the rest of it covered up by her long red coat and yellow blouse underneath it all. She scans around the place to look for Kaz, then spots him. She waves at him then heads towards the two. "Heya! Sorry about that, just here taking a short break. Mind if I scoot in?" Without asking she pushes Kaz to the side, forcing her way within the booth. Red stares at her like he's...is he sweating? Kaz looks confused, but quickly returns to being annoyed as she starts cherry picking some of the bacon bits that Kaz hasn't eaten yet. "So...uh...you went there huh?" She looks at the backpack. Kaz narrows his eyes and stares at her. Of course he did, it's a whole tradition that they have done since like...forever! "I was planning to go there...buuuut I dunno, felt kinda weird to go without Mom. You get me, right?" She waves around the bacon strip trying to prove her point. She smiles but as she turns to face Kaz, her smile dissipates. She starts to get a bit guilty. As she should. "Sorry, we um, we probably should have tried to make time. I mean, we are later in the afternoon, right?" She tries to cheer up Kaz by picking up the bag. "Wow, you packed a lot in here!" She looks a bit surprirsed. "I thought you always hated going to the cemetery?"
Kaz stares at her and stares back at Red. He's acting a bit nervous. Hanemi notices and playfully smiles. "Sorry about the trouble my brother put you through. He tends to do some really dumb stuff without us around. Nice to know someone else took up the role, though. Kinda relieves part of my job." She yawns a bit and covers her mouth, then starts to eat the bacon strip. "What's your name?"
Kaz speaks in his stead. "It's Reddarc. He's paying for us. So you should probably thank him." He states, trying to keep his sister from freaking Red out.
"Oh! Well in that case...Excuse me!" A waitress walks by. "Can I have...um..." She stares at all the plates Red has eaten. "Can I haaaaave....that one?" She points to the half-finished plate of food. "And a water, please." She speaks cheerfully as the waitress leaves.
She's never going to leave us alone, isn't she. "Hey, Red, I mean we can pay our half if you want us to." Hanemi looks a bit annoyed at Kaz denying her free food.

Outwardly, Red looked like any normal 16 year old boy. Well not entirely normal due to the scars but still, he looked like he was perfectly fine with having another guest that he had to pay for show up. His gaze wandering over to Kaz's sister was perfectly normal, he was just being polite as he got mostly ignored and the two siblings talked. She was on break from her part time job apparently, and just so happened to be close by when the call ended. Any ill thoughts he thought about her were quickly swept away, as she made her way over, quite literally barged Kaz out of his seat towards the window, and situated herself so Red was in the middle on the other side of the table. He kept a nice, cordial smile on his face as she talked, not at all awkward looking, so Kaz's sister didnt think he was weird or anything.....well to be fair he was out with Kaz, but still, no weirder than any usual teen. He just quietly went about finishing the rest of his food, in order to cover up what was going on inside his head. Speaking of his brain, it was giving Red one very loud, clear signal. FUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK WHAT DO WE DO? This signal reverberated throughout his very soul, as flashes of the last few conversations he'd had with people had gone. To say that hadnt gone well would be an understatement. Due to brain damage at the time, he'd somehow been decent when he talked to Yumi, but when he remembered the contents of said conversation he wanted to die inside. He'd kept fuckin complimenting her like it was nothing, he had no fucking clue how he had been able to do that at the time, but he was terrified that he just got lucky cause she was just like that. His conversation with Mr. "Im not hungry" hadnt gone well either, they ended fighting in a goddamn alley over a BOWL OF FUCKING RAMEN, and somehow didnt get arrested by the pro hero who was also there. God how did he look right now, was he ok? Did he look like he was freaking out? He probably looked like he was freaking out again. He once again took a massive gulp of water as he finished his one of the last plates of food he had. Somehow he still had room for stuff in his stomach, and it was VERY happy to get filled to the fuckin brim, considering how much Red usually starved it on accident. Despite his brain frantically looking through literally every locker, cabinet, set of draws it could to find a way out of this situation besides running away rapidly, he was still listening to the conversation, his head following whoever was talking. Was her names Nemi? Thats what he heard Kaz say on the phone earlier, but was it her actual name or a shorterned version, like Red had with his sister? She started nicking Kaz's food and pointing at him with it. Sounded like she was trying to excuse her behaviour of fuckin ditching Kaz at the station. A vein in Reds head popped out slightly, but he quickly buried it before anyone noticed...he hoped, Plus, she atleast had the guts to apologise about leaving him to go on his own, before quickly changing the subject. That was a start atleast, His anger slowly dissipating as the converstation continu--Oh god Kaz was staring at him, did he look nervous? Fuck now they were both looking at him, So he did his best to look as normal as possible, but it probably wasnt working, he didnt know. Then the worst possible thing his sister could have done happened: She talked to Red. As if he was a normal person who could actually speak to people. Outwardly, he was just waiting for her to finish her sentance, but inwardly, he was screaming. Inside his brain, the council of Reddarccs was called in for an emergancy meeting, All 5 members attending. First you had Reddarcc A, otherwise known as the calm boy, as he was able to analyse a situation quickly and give a concise manner. Problem was, he was blunt as fuck. "Its fine, she just asked our name, how hard is it to say our own fuckin name?" He told the rest of the council. "Yeah but what if we stutter though? She'll think we're a loser!!" Reddarcc B piped up. This kid was anxiety incarnate, and together with Reddarcc A, was the voice in Reds head that told him how fuckin stupid he was most of the time. When Red himself managed to tune them out, that was due to the combination of Reddarcc C and D. These two were his stupidity and motor mouth incarnate. "Its fine, just say your name in the most Kaz way possible, that'll get her to stop talking to you" Reddarcc C Replied, and Reddarcc D was already writing it into the speech database, though since he was going fast he may have missed a few letters or typed too many in. "Halt, you heathens" Lord Reddarcc addressed the room.....This guy was weird, he seemed to just embrace the chaos of the councils continued arguements, half the time disregarding it and going off of instincts. Speaking of, he moved from his chair, and moved to a giant button behind him. "NO, STOP, WE CANT USE THAT YET" The rest of the council replied, as Lord Reddarccs hand began to descend rapidly towards the button, as he shouted the incantation written on it.
Lucky for him, they were interrupted, as in the real word, Kaz had answered for him, As Red was putting his finger up and had opened his mouth to speak. The council breathed a sign of relief, as they continued to watch the situation unfold from the survelience cameras placed in Reds skull His eyes. They all thanked Kaz, as Red looked over to him and gave him the look of a man who had just been given his dream job, his dream girlfriend, and a raise all in the same day. He looked fuckin relieved, to say the least. The sister began looking over all the food Red had left, picked the one he was currently half way through, and asked the waiter for that.He wasnt fussed, it was one of the cheaper dishes he'd gotten. Thats when Kaz told him that it was fine if Red only paid for his half. The council all looked at the monitor, then to eachother, then back at the monitor, before moving towards the button with a declaration of "Fuck off Kaz", As they all raised their hands, and said the words printed on the button, as is tradition: "JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL" They bellowed, released Red form their influence. Lord Reddarcc gave a smug grin, he'd done it again. The council all shared one thing in common, and that was Reds almost suicidal need to help people.
In the real world, Red just looked at Kaz and said "Nah its fine, your sister can order whatever she wants. Whats your name anyway. miss?" He asked, with a cheeky grin and a wink. At this point the conversation could go either great or very poorly, but Red knew he was gonna regret it later.

Kaz groaned and covered his face in disappointment while Hanemi lets out a small giggle. "It's Hanemi, but you can call me Nemi if you want to." She lets out a laugh while Kaz glares back at Red who has clearly fallen under her charm. Hanemi has no quirk, but if she did, it'll take the form of her inhuman charm. Anything she says can easily grab the attention of the listener, even if it's a stupid joke or some sort of fake compliment. No wonder she gets several people asking for a date with her, and looks like her latest victim is poor Red. Kaz glares at his former ally/friend as his sister starts working her magic.
"Say, listen. We have like until 4 to do some stuff before me and Kaz have to go. Plus, we dont really have school...sooooooo...why not we go have some fun and go the shopping district? I heard there's some pretty good de-"
Hanemi is interrupted by Kaz."We're strapped for cash right now, come on now sis. Besides, we can't just take over Red's day. Right Red?" He looks back at Red. Red looks enamored (he's not), and his eyes keep focusing on her (he's not, he's blankly staring past her). He's too far gone, Kaz sadly ponders and just sighs. "O..or we can just...go to a nearby shop." He starts to pout a little while the waitress walks in and hands Hanemi her food. Kaz sips his orange juice in deep silence as Hanemi talked to Red while Red (attempted to) carried on the conversation. At this rate, we'll be here the entire day. Kaz checks the backpack again while trying to ignore this shameful display of pandering.
Once the two finished up talk (which honestly was mostly Hanemi talking about her week while Red just nods and said short responses), they went their way to the nearby stores. Hanemi cheerfully talks about the possible brands they can find, Red nervously follows behind her, and behind all of them Kaz is glaring at the both of them, clearly having been forgotten. Kaz has conveniently chosen to ignore the fact that 1) Red keeps looking back at him making sure he's alright and 2) During the whole 'conversation' Red has been clearly ignoring the majority of Hanemi's talk, clearly not enjoying the fact he has to interact with a girl. and 3) Hanemi knows that. Once again, you have become the third wheel. This always happen with anyone you bring over, so why should you expect the same? Kaz shakes his head and lets out a small laugh. He's already forgotten about the whole debacle with his mom.
Hanemi looks back at her brother, who has a small smile on his face. She smirks a little. Mission complete.
