Mia clocked onto the chicken the moment she spotted the snacks, grabbing some of the smaller chicken wings and piling them on a small plate. She didn’t NEED protein by any means even if it was a good part of her diet, she was just generally a bit of a meat lover. Warm or cold the juiciness of meat was just always a pleasant treat and one she was more than eager to get her teeth into, to the point that, given the size of the wings, she was able to fit entire ones in her mouth, bite down into the edge of the bone, and just drag her teeth along it in a strong suckling grip that dragged every scrap of meat off the bone in one fell swoop, adding bones back to her plate one after the other with an idle sip of whatever juice she’d managed to get between every few wings. She wasn’t a messy eater by any means, but certainly a ravenous one all the same.
“Ah, a future hero student! Good to hear!~” She chimed back herself with a lot of cheer in her expressions. She was always glad to hear anyone with a quirk had the bravery or moral compass needed to pursue hero work, though as Karen apologized for seeming too excited about a serious topic, Mia was quick to shake her head, even giggle a little as she dismissed that worry. “Kid, kid. We dress up in costumes and go around fighting bad guys. Sure, it’s serious work, but it’s also very silly work too. Don’t be afraid to show a little excitement! You think the first guys to land on the moon weren’t excited? Or, heck, more down to earth, I bet most fire fighters still get a small thrill when they slide down the pole!” She giggled a little and slurped the meat off another wing.
“Seriously! I’m just glad to hear more kids are getting behind this hero thing! When I first started they recruited me from all the way in America, and I could see a lot of kids still had their parents drilling into them how their quirks were wrong and how they shouldn’t be encouraged. It’s more than a joy to see someone looking so eager to get into the program themselves!”
She put her half finished plate of snack wings to one side, eagerly rubbing her hands together, looking at a student she may hopefully see more of in the future. “So come on kid…hit me. What’s your quirk? I won’t tell anyone if ya show me. Scout’s honor.” She raised a hand and crossed her heart with the other. Sure, she’d never ever been in the scouts or any female equivalent, but the sentiment was clear enough. As much as she was a hero meant to uphold the law, she had a lot of quirker pride in her, and the chance to see the quirk of another future hero was not something she was eager to pass on.

For the most part she saw it coming. With Mia's attitude so far Karen was almost certain that the hero had her silly ideas about work. It was something you took seriously but at the end of the day also find reason to laugh and smile about. The concept of a hero itself was a childish fantasy that was made possible by the arrival of the era of quirks. In a way Karen's apology was less about failing to recognize that and more about showing a more excitable side to the more proper or professional side she meant to portray. But as always Mia was very receptive and had relatable insights. Of course Karen was glad to hear positive words from her. "I'm definitely going to do my best. Other than my family, I've got a lot of other people cheering me on this too. And that makes me feel a bit bad that I'm mostly doing this for myself. I guess that's part of why sometimes I have a little reluctance in showing excitement. It's a weird feeling acting 'selfish' to pursue a path of 'selflessness', if that makes any sense. But the excitement is definitely there."The follow-up was a little more unexpected but thankfully still within the limit of what could be allowed. It made Karen wonder for a moment if Mia was the type to be a bit more lax around the rules for quirks. But it was only a moment. After just a couple of seconds of pondering, Karen decided that she could definitely see that. Mia didn't come off as strict or stuck up at all and was quite easygoing. Though she wasn't sure if that was an American thing or just her own personality. "If we were anywhere else, I might have debated quirk law with you Ms. Kearney. And that would have been funny in its own way. For the most part I'm glad I don't have to."
She spoke jokingly but she was half serious at least. As lax as Mia might have been, Karen herself wouldn't have been very supportive of encouraging casual quirk use in public. And so it was lucky that they were where they were at that moment. "Technically speaking we're still on company premises, so I can actually still use my quirk as part of a demo. And you're still our customer so declining your request wouldn't be very good. Basically, I can fly."She stood up from where she was sitting and walked a few paces to a more open spot. Concentrating, she began to release her reddish aura which gradually covered her entire body. It wasn't as fast as usual due to her fully clothed, nor was she projecting her maximum output. But it would suffice for a small demonstration. She would then begin to hover above the ground and fly a lap around the couches before touching down again, leaving a red light trail behind in the path that she took. The lounge ceiling wasn't too high so she could only manage a few feet into the air without risking hitting her head on the ceiling or lights. "I'm quite proud of it. I inherited it from mother since father is quirkless. But she tells me it's much stronger than what she could do. Though to be honest I've never seen her really try and push herself, nor would I encourage her to. She thinks there might have been something dormant in father's genes that powered it up. I'm typically someone who likes to back my facts up with science, but this is one of the exceptions I let slide."Karen walked back to her seat and sat back down. She kept her straight face but it would be a lie to say that she wasn't eager to hear Mia's thoughts.

Mia was glad to see the young girl had a strong head on her shoulders and was excited to go into hero work, though as they mentioned they worried that being a hero was selfish rather than going into the family business or whatever made them think as much, Mia had to chuckle a little as she recalled her own motives for getting into hero work, and in part she had to admit-
“Kid, honestly, when you boil it down, everything can be selfish. People don’t JUST give out of the goodness of their heart, they do it cause it might make ‘em feel good to do nice things and shit. If people don’t get even something flimsy and intangible like that out of something, they don’t do it. As much as I feel like I can call myself a good person, I can admit with an odd bit of pride, I totally didn’t get into hero work for the right reasons. Not as a vigilante before they took me pro at least. I was a loose cannon, always looking for a fight. I got into being a hero more for the chance to take people out than to actually do good….buuuuut over the years, it grew on me, and I wouldn’t say following your own dreams or anything is in any way selfish. It means you know what you want, and you’re going after it. At the very least ya can take some pride that you’re chasing after a very morallic profession!~”
She lifted her drink in a brief cheers motion before downing it and quickly pouring another juice.
She’d chuckle a little at Karen’s choice of words, teasing that she’d debate quirk law with her in a more public setting perhaps? She felt like that was the implication, that she needed to keep up the good girl act but she was thankful for Mia to give her the go ahead anyway, and Mia in turn was eager to see her display her quirk. She leaned forward a little in her seat, cupping her hands together as they rested between her knees, eagerly awaiting a display even as Karen went on to explain that she had a lot of excuses at the ready, given where they were, and the fact Mia herself was a customer who had the power to request such a demonstration.
“Eh, good thing you chose to play along rather than go down the debate route anyway. If it ain’t obvious I’m a lot more Brawn than brain.” She shamelessly admitted with a small, self deprecating chuckle at her own expense, rolling her shoulders back as she got comfortable and watching Karen work her magic of her quirk.
Watching the display, Mia wasn’t too ‘impressed’ but she was certainly engaged to say the least. The fact she didn’t just hover but instead gave out this odd little red aura was definitely interesting and had Mia questioning how it worked, and like any quirk, she was more than happy to see it, but she also had the sense of bluntness in her own head to tell herself ‘well it’s cool but it’s no fire control or psychic manipulation’. She wouldn’t say this allowed of course, it was just a general observation afterall and Mia meant no ill will by it, let alone any ill will she intended to spread at that.
“Flying huh? Definitely the power of a super hero!~” She commented idly. She’d been watching a lot of old super-hero moves to get ideas for how to use her super strength lately and one about a kid turning into a super hero resonated with her…Shazam? Yeah, sounded right. Some kid in that film mentioned that as cool as invisibility was, most people given a choice would go with flight because it seemed like the more heroic power. “Got much in terms of offense, or you more looking to be a rescue hero? Being able to fly onto the scene faster than the police cars and ambulances would certainly help with that.~”
She took in the talk about her inheriting it from her mother, and Mia snickered a little. “Ya know I don’t get all that guff about quirks being heriditory. My dad looks like a sasquatch and my mom is literally an angel. How the hell I ended up with a massive red horn and muscles for days from those two fuckin’ is beyond me…”
She paused, realizing her choice of words and dipping her head a little. “Er…sorry for the crude language kid. Guess I’m a little more used to speakin’ ta people my age still.” Or kids like Jaz who were more than happy to use vulgar language themselves. “Hope it didn’t put ya off…try to keep it clean for the cameras but I weren’t exactly raised in the most…eloquent home.” She chuckled idly and added for a bit of context on the quirk think. “Seriously though, I know a lot of kids have quirks like their parents, but the only thing we all got in common is you can relate us to mythical creatures. I’m a demon, my sis is a griffin, and my little brother’s a dragon. The lot of us don’t look nuttin’ like our parents quirks…well except my sis and my mom, what with the whole…feathered wings thing, but my sister has these huge claws she can summon which my Ma’ can’t, so they’re not exactly twinsies.”

After giving her demonstration, Mia commented on the one thing that Karen herself had still been figuring out all this time. She hoped that she might get an answer when she entered UA, but for now there really wasn't much she could do about it. To be honest, it wasn't too important in the grand scheme of things with regards to becoming the kind of hero she wanted. But the fact that a pro like Mia was asking meant that it was probably not the best assumption to make. For now she would answer truthfully. "It's a work in progress I suppose. You would be correct in assuming that this isn't really a quirk that boasts of power in the same way yours does. With a little focus I can harden the aura into a shield of sorts and then build up speed and momentum to just crash into things. Personally I'm still more comfortable with just employing martial arts, which I do have some confidence in."At the very least in her school she was one of if not the best, and she wasn't even on the team. The team itself regularly placed high in nationals and even had a few championships before. But Karen was well aware that the effectiveness of martial arts in sports did not always translate effectively to real life. She was sure at least that knowing how to fight was just the bare minimum for anyone entering UA. She was expecting to run into the best of the best there. It would be like every day and fight was the national championships and she could not quite say just yet that she was confident in winning every match. And that was even before quirks came into play. Just like how Mia reminded her, there will be others with more offense-oriented quirks, and she would have to learn how to deal with them her own way. "You also guessed correctly that I'm aiming to be a rescue hero. I feel it's that career path that will enable me to make the most of my talents. But then again, that's just my own assessment at this moment as someone self-taught and self-trained. I'm hoping that entering UA might give me more insights and inspiration on how to make better use of my abilities. And maybe find other applications I had never thought of before. Although if a pro like yourself already thinks the same way, then I'm not so sure now."She wasn't particularly bothered much about it because she had also come to the same conclusion. But if improvement of her offense wouldn't be possible with her quirk, then maybe she had to think a bit outside the box for other options. Thankfully the topic about where quirks come from in the family proved to be more lighthearted. She enjoyed listening to Mia's little story about how her family was like and found it funny that the hero apologized for using crude language. Years of dealing with delinquents as a member of the student council have given her more than enough opportunities to run into those types so it wasn't something that fazed her at all. It was fascinating how quirks sometimes worked so unpredictably. Even decades after their first appearance there was still much about them that people didn't know. Even the hereditary theories were probably right only half the time. After all the first quirks emerged out of nowhere with no real explanation. The idea of quirks being passed down only solidified after the first generations had gotten together and had kids. But before that, there was nothing that said quirks worked that way. "It sounds like more than a few members of your family would find it useful to shop with us as well Ms. Kearney. If there's anything from our catalog you'd like to send to them, I'd be happy to write up a quick order form for you."Karen chuckled. It was a joking offer, but one that she was prepared to back up if taken seriously. These were the kind of people that her family's business sought to help so it was kind of a soft spot for her hearing about them. Though if they were anything like Mia, they probably got along just fine with their lives. A strong personality with a strong body could get a person far.

“Oh I mean, Don’t get me wrong, flying’s definitely impressive! Definitely has the super hero image to it, especially if you plan on ramming your enemies with speed and power!” She grinned heartily. Even if flight alone wasn’t the most powerful quirk, it had great applications and lots of possibility if used right. Mia perhaps would never go for it if somehow given the choice, but with all the quirker pride she had, pretty much every quirk was amazing in her eyes. She’d even once talked to a kid who had the power to temporarily give others his own poor eyesight and how amazing his quirk could be in taking opponents by surprise and dizzying them while giving him way more of an advantage. Suffice to say, no matter the quirk, Mia felt she could find some badass positives to it, from the silliest to the coolest.
“Props to you though for working with it! I mean I…well okay, I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same, cause with my nature I’d try and turn any quirk into a fighting quirk, but I know a lot of people who woulda just settled for being a rescue hero if there main utility was flight. Really kid, if you’re planning to go to UA you’re gonna do well with a creative head like that on your shoulders.~” She smiled warmly before sipping from her juice, relaxing back into her seat.
All the same, Karen seemed to have an even better head on her shoulders, or even just a good heart, as she admitted she had the smarts to aim to be a rescue hero with her quirk. Good, good. It was always good to have some realistic aims rather than pushing yourself too far. While some DID have the capacity to go outside of their comfort zones and be anything they wanna be, Mia had to admit that sometimes it was better to excel at something you have a talent for, than force yourself to be the bottom ringer at something you WANT, but may not have the natural inclination towards.
“Hey if ya want a good mentor you should definitely look into some of the kids in the year above you. I’ve got my eyes on a handful of them that all look promising as hell, so you could definitely find someone who can give you a new outlook on your own ideas. Still…” She paused, stroking her chin idly. “A lot of them are also very….individualistic? (that last word was spoken in English, Mia’s Japanese not good enough to find the word without butchering it) Er…they’re focused on themselves, but not in a bad way. They just wanna make sure they make themselves on the top of THEIR game before worrying too much about the rest. I wouldn’t take offense to it, but if any of them come off a bit brutish or hard headed, that’s all it is. They wanna make sure they’re great heroes first and foremost ya know?” Least, that’s how Mia saw it in kids like Jaz.
Mia’s brow raised as Karen brought up the idea her family members would benefit from the product line. Briefly she took it as the playful tease it was likely intended, but while Mia herself struggled to find women’s gym gear or any female cut shirts in her size, her brother had to cut holes in the back of his shirts for his dragon spikes, and while her sister had a special brace to keep in her wings, her mother liked to display hers, which lead to the same problem as her brother. Plus, due to all his fur, Mia’s dad tended to opt not to wear a shirt. Something that let his fur covered skin breathe could be appreciated.
“Actually, ya know what. You have absolutely got a point. I think my brother and mom especially would really like some things that fit without having to cut holes in them for a change, hahaha!~” She smirked wide and lightly pat her thigh, idly hitting herself so to speak for not thinking of it herself. “Do you guys got official ‘cards’ or something? Need to make sure I give them your number so they can start ordering stuff.” She paused and added. “Oh, do you guys just do original brands? Or can you work with other brands to make quirker-fit versions of them?”

Mia's insights on their discussion once again very intriguing. On the one hand Mia agreed that it was a great quirk. On the other hand she also mentioned that if it were up to her she would try to find a way to make it a fighting quirk. Karen had entertained this idea herself before. She envisioned that the ultimate form of her martial arts and overall fighting style would be flawlessly integrating it with the extremely wide range of motions provided by her quirk. But this was something that would take time, training, and perhaps advise from someone in a similar position. Surely she wasn't the only one in the whole world who employed martial arts alongside flight right? That was when Mia brought up that she should try looking for a mentor in UA. At first Karen thought that she was talking about the teachers, but the pro hero clarified that she was referring to upperclassmen. It would be a weird thing to hear at first, but given how confidently Mia was talking about it she could only assume that Mia had personally met some students already and upon her appraisal gave her some really good impressions. They must be truly amazing to still be students and yet be acknowledged by a pro. Karen was starting to really like this idea of getting a mentor, but she wondered if the combination of flight and martial arts actually existed among the current upperclassmen. She would have to make it a top priority to get information on students once she started. "Those upperclassmen must be quite something to earn your praise Ms. Kearney. I'm only a year behind and they sound so far ahead already. Though that's not something I find discouraging. If anything, I'm really eager to try and catch-up. I certainly agree that there are a lot of things I could learn from them. Thank you for the advice."Karen didn't comment on Mia's mentioning of certain students possibly coming off as hardheaded or stubborn. Even in your average school people like that existed. It wouldn't be surprising to find that kind of crowd in UA too. The fact that a pro hero seemed to be covering for them meant that despite their 'shortcomings' their hearts were still in the right place. And if they were really that talented, then to some extent their tendency to be proud and sure of themselves wasn't uncalled for. There was a lot you could pick up from those kinds of students too since they tend to think in ways that 'honor' students might not even consider. It seemed Mia took her offer seriously after all, and as soon as the hero asked for a business card, Karen was already reaching into her pocket to give her a couple. "Of course we're proud of our own brand of clothing. I do believe we have a great selection of designs and styles for every season that someone looking to be fashionable or even just casual would appreciate and enjoy. But if you're really attached to certain brands and clothes, we do offer an altering service as well to make them more suitable for the client's use. I would like to put out a disclaimer though that since these other branded clothes are likely not made to accommodate certain quirker clients, we might not be able to satisfactorily modify them. In that case we'd suggest designing something from scratch to look similar."To be honest sometimes it wasn't as simple as modifying clothes. Depending on the brand, some manufacturers could be a little touchy about using their designs. In the past they had to look into speaking with the brand owners directly. Still, Mia was an important client so for her and her family, Karen was sure they'd be willing to go the extra mile.

Mia smirked just a little but waved off the comment about the kids being something special to earn her attention, commenting simply. “Oh please, most of them just remind me of myself. I know I don’t have a similar world view to a lot of the more…well, let’s be blunt, the more ‘professional’ heroes, so I wanna make sure these kids know there’s a hero like me doing pretty damn well for myself on my own merit!” She crossed her firm arms over her chest with a cheeky little nod. “They’re promising kids still don’t get me wrong, but most of all I wanna keep an eye on who’s gonna keep things interesting once they leave school and join the game ya know? It’s gonna be a good thing to have some good relationships with those kids…especially the few I actually do think could give me a run for my money.~” She smirked extra wide, hinting there were at least a few kids she actually did think deserved some high praise.
With the idea of getting her family members to use this place’s services on the table, Mia listened along to what could be done with on brand clothing, smirking a little. Her brother did have a certain style he kinda liked to maintain but he also ha ted tearing holes in shirts to maintain it. “Oh I’m sure they’ll love your brand, but if they need anything from the other brands it shouldn’t be a hard fix. They don’t catch fire or anything, they just have wings and spikes. Really the most you can expect is needing to make a few well fitting holes for their spikes or something. Maybe sow a bit of fabric around them so the spikes don’t get cold. I dunno, I don’t exactly have experience with all this stuff but I know you guys sure as hell do.”

Well Mia wasn't wrong. Karen found it a little amusing that she seemed a bit conscious of it, if only for a moment. There were many different kinds of heroes. Some of them were more straitlaced or in Mia's words more 'professional' than others. But all of them were recognized by the government just the same. If anything that proved that the people granting licenses were more concerned that people whose hearts were in the right place mattered more than keeping a good image. Or perhaps they were looking for people that could be trusted. Whatever it was, it didn't seem like the system wasn't going to be too hard on someone just because they were a little rough around the edges. "I suppose I'm the type who is more strict on rules, but even so I still think you're a fine hero Ms. Kearney. And I'm not saying this just because you're a client. I believe the most important thing for a hero is heart and trust. Though sometimes it's not the most obvious thing."Mia acknowledged that there were indeed promising students among the current second years. This time she specifically noted that they were at a level where even to a pro hero like herself they posed a decent challenge. In Karen's opinion, you couldn't find higher praise than that. It sounded amazing just how much a year alone in UA brought them up that. "I mean I don't think it's hard to keep a good relationship with you at all Ms. Kearney. Throughout our tour today and even now, you've been nothing but amicable and understanding. I'm really glad to have had this opportunity to meet you and work with you today."Perhaps in the future they would get another opportunity. It sounded like students got quite a few chances to interact with pro heroes like Mia. Maybe the next time they saw each other, Karen would be in a similar position too. It would definitely be a cool learning experience to see a hero working up close. Moving on to their little business talk Mia clarified that they really only needed to make modifications for physical mutations such as spikes, wings and the like. And that coincided with how she described her family earlier. Karen actually understood that well enough. She figured she ought to clarify her side as well. "Ah, yes of course we can handle that just fine. I suppose my initial worry was that other brands might not have the correct sizes or appropriate fit for their clothing collection. Even if it's not something as troublesome as being on fire, some materials can still be tricky to work with in terms of making proper modifications. But I suppose if they've been getting by with just cutting holes this whole time then my worries were unfounded."She made sure to take notes of their discussion for future reference when Mia's family does eventually reach out to them. She was sure that Mia's comments about things like making sure their spikes don't get too cold would be useful to know. Physical mutations were more than just changes in appearance after all. At times they also meant that the body responded in different ways to the environment compared to your average person.

Mia had no real issues with the fact she was the ‘loose cannon’ of the hero community. She reveled in it in fact. The other heroes may look down on her habits, and one day she may even get in trouble for them, but Mia knew who she was and didn’t hide that fact. She knew she had an ego, so she controlled it while still feeding it a healthy amount to remain such an effective hero. She knew she could break the rules from time to time, so she made sure she was careful and always had a good reason to do so, like seeing a promising vigilante actually doing good. She had no reason to send such a person to jail when she herself had done the same for years. Whatever the case Mia had a solid sense of herself, and she’d rather have than then be stuck up her own ass like other heroes holding their noses up at her just cause her methods were more wild and rough.
“Oh kid I mean, if that’s who you are, that’s who you are. At the very least I think you’re one of the good ones in that regard. In my experience, there are two kinds of rule-followers. At least the strict ones. Those who do it and hold a sense of superiority because of it, and then it seems there’s ones like you. We’ve probably broken a few ‘rules’ of your little tour schedule just by missing that last little speech you were meant to give me, but you didn’t hold your nose up at me or chastise me. Stick to the rules by all means, just make sure you don’t act superior because of it and we ain’t got any troubles in our future.~ Assuming we stay in touch of course!~”
She nodded along with her words though and added. “I agree though, heart and trust. Definitely key to making this whole thing work.”
She smirked a little as Karen said it wasn’t hard to keep a good relationship with her, the heroine scratching under her nose with a cheeky, somewhat prideful smirk. On a more intimate level, talking about feelings and being delicate even with hostages or the like, Mia would be the first to admit her people skills were terrible, but on a surface level, first meetings, appearling to a crowd, Mia did absolutely fantastic in her opinion and Karen’s words only seemed to enforce that.
“Well I thank you for the compliment, but just wait till you get to know me I guess. I don’t know if we’ll have a more personal relationship when you become a student, but word of advice in advance. If things get rough and you need some emotional support, as good as we’re getting along now, I ain’t the person to come to. I can admit outright a more intimate discussion like that ain’t gonna be my forteit if you know what I mean.” She’d always try of course, but it was part of why she got along so well with Jaz, the two blonde’s shared the mentality of kicking their past and feelings to the curb to live in the moment. “But hey, I’m definitely glad I met you too. You’re a promising kid already and I ain’t even seen you in action yet!~”
As she mentioned they could make such adjustments hopefully with ease, she’d let out an easy sigh of relief. “Ah, awesome. I’m sure they will order some original stuff don’t get me wrong, I more didn’t want them to have to shill out for a wardrobe from scratch. Even if it’s more comfortable for them getting a whole new wardrobe is hardly gonna be like…a solid experience?” She didn’t feel that was the right way to say it. “Like…I’m sure either way, getting their clothes edited by you guys might be costly for a whole wardrobe, but I’m sure they’d prefer to keep some of their existing clothes if their own edits can be fixed to a more professional standard, if that makes sense?”

Mia clarified that she didn't mind people who stuck to the rules and only really had strong feelings for those who thought it made them superior to everyone else. Knowing the kind of hero Mia was, Karen could easily picture how these types would rub her the wrong way and vice versa. While Karen was certainly the kind of person didn't have any qualms displaying her superiority in some things, she didn't believe that just following the rules constituted supremacy. "I think we can definitely agree there. I don't follow the rules because it makes me feel like I'm better than anyone else."Mia admitted that she wasn't really the best at emotional support and talking about feelings. That wasn't really what Karen was getting at when she said maintaining a good relationship. It was more in the professional and business sense. But this misunderstanding was a blessing in its own way as gave her some more insight on the pro hero and that she had her own shortcomings that she acknowledged. She decided not to correct it as it garnered a more interesting response. "I'd like to think that I'm a tougher nut to crack than most, mentally and emotionally. So I believe and hope that it's pretty safe for me to promise that I wouldn't be bothering you with anything like that Ms. Kearney. I'd rather not trouble a client if I can help it. And I feel the same way towards someone who is my senior in being a hero."That Mia called her promising was of course something Karen was very delighted to hear. Admittedly she tried her best to be an impressive as host as she could and so she was glad her feelings and effort came through. "Thank you for the compliment as well."Mia explained further about the specific needs of her family and in Karen's opinion they were perfectly reasonable. They have had their fair share of similar inquiries from first time customers who tried to fix their own clothes but now wanted to avail of their products and services to have them more professionally done. "Ah yes we do understand those concerns. We definitely don't want our new customers to think that they should be replacing their entire wardrobe. We won't pretend that a lot of people get by just fine with making their own personal modifications to their outfits. We're mostly here for those who have trouble doing so on their own."
"I can say for sure that if it's just altering existing outfits then the cost should be very affordable. I think the best approach would be to fill out an order form from us. The form would include all the details and specifications regarding their quirk that we would need to accommodate. We can then send a sample based on that and get their feedback. Or alternatively they can pay us a visit like you did and have the fitting done here."Karen began scribbling some notes again as she spoke. She wanted to make this as smooth and easy as possible. First impressions were important and after today's successful visit with Mia, she intended to capitalize on the momentum.

Mia gave a simple nod to the girl confirming she was right in her assumptions about her, definitely glad to hear that and holding a strong smile of her own looking at the bluenette. Of course she still seemed far more rule abiding than Mia herself, and maybe it was just her own sense, but from talking to her she felt she might be the kind to put her heart over her head if the situation REALLY called for it, and in the end, that’s all Mia needed to see in a potential Hero. Of course, she could always be wrong, but something about Karen told Mia that when the chips were down and the odds were against her, she’d put a life she could save over some dumb procedure. “In that case kid, we got nothing to worry about from eachother. If you do become a pro tho, just be wary of workin’ with me. As we’ve well established, I may not be so good for a goody two shoes’ reputation.~” She snickered a little, but the ‘goody two shoes’ name was more used in an endearing way than an insult given her tone.
“Hey kid as far as I’m concerned, once you get into that school we’re peers. I mean I know I’ve been in the game longer, and I’d love to help you out with my experience, but seriously, coming from vigilante work myself, you’ll technicaly have way more formal training than I ever did, and besides, it’s way better to treat my future colleagues like buddies right from the start. Means you won’t be gunning for my spot on the leaderboards once you got your foot in the game! Hahaha!~”
She was just teasing with the last part of course, she already knew once Jaz was a full hero she’d be aiming to compete with Mia in every way possible, but she did definitely mean the former part. She absolutely saw the kids of UA as peers already. She was pretty young at heart, had the same reckless attitude as some students, and much preferred seeing them as heroes just waiting in the wings rather than heroes in training, they were just waiting for someone to open the gates on them…of course, that was just her view on things whatever the case. “As far as being a client though, I basically buy glorified tube tops from you guys, don’t worry too much about treating me with extra respect because of that, okay?~”
Mia smiled as Karen continued to be so accommodating in regards to the idea of her family using the service, and she nodded along to what she said in terms of them filling out an order form and going through proper channels. “Yeah, yeah I get it. Gotta make sure we do this the right way and all, you think I could get some order forms to hand them when I next see them? I think my mum would love to see what you guys do in person but my brother’s a bit more of a er…what do you Japanese people call it when you stay in your bedroom….Otaku?” That wasn’t the right word for her brother who was far from an anime nerd or anything, but he was a bit more reclusive than most at the very least. “Either way sounds like this is gonna work out well. They can make their own modifications sure, but I’m sure they’ll appreciate being able to wear a rain coat that doesn’t have holes in the back for their spikes and wings!~”

If it was managing reputations and keeping appearances then Karen had quite a bit of experience there. Working with someone 'problematic' yet still acknowledged as being one of the good guys was hardly going to be an issue, at least with the kind of image she was aiming for in the future. In fact if things go well it might just be an advantage to be a known ally of someone like Mia. Though that was really something that was still far off. A lot of things can change between now and when she would graduate from UA. But one thing was for sure, she currently didn't see anything worrisome about hanging out with the hero Red Horn. "I've got my own ideas about that. Well nothing too concrete yet, but suffice to say reputation is something I don't believe I'll be worrying about if I ever end up working with you in the future Ms. Kearney."
"Though even as friends I can't really make any promises about the leaderboards. I'd simply be doing my best as a hero and how the rankings change because that is an unintended consequence. We should both just be giving it our all~"She could tell Mia was just joking about that last part, but on the off chance she was serious about it just a bit, Karen hoped that there wouldn't be any hard feelings. Although from how the conversation flowed, it did feel like Mia had someone specifically in mind while she was talking. Karen was sure that thinking of students as peers wasn't something Mia just came up with today. More than likely her future upperclassmen from UA were the ones who gave the pro hero that impression. "I'm afraid treating you with respect as a client is nonnegotiable Ms. Kearney. It's just proper business etiquette. At least while you're in our care as a customer you should let us pamper you a bit~"When Mia asked for some forms to hand out to her family, Karen quickly gestured to the one of the assistants on stand-by who promptly handed over some order forms. Quickly looking through them to ensure they were the right ones, she then proceeded to pass them on to the pro hero. "Here you go Ms. Kearney. Rest assured if your brother doesn't want to there will be no need to drag him outside. At most we might just ask for a picture if the details on the forms are insufficient."
"It's funny you should mention rain gear. In the context of people with wings and spikes, it's definitely one of the more challenging things to design. Most of them really need to be custom made too depending on the person. Filling out the forms should help us know best how to go about it."New customers were always good news, not just in terms of business but also because they gave fresh perspectives in terms of designs. Working with so many varying cases has made it possible for them to more easily determine the best approach to creating the best product for the client.

Mia raised her brow as Karen almost seemed borderline cocky about her future reputation, smirking a little at the fact the girl seemed to have a strong plan behind her and not thinking to judge or pick at that even for a second. It was good to see a bit of surety and self certainty in someone so young and Mia would rather see how that develops then try and nitpick at it. “Well fair enough, if you think I’ll help your image than so be it, but don’t think you can use me as a stepping stone or anything on your way to the top cheeky, or I’ll be comin’ for ya!~” Her bright white grin showed she was clearly just teasing, as ever.
She chuckled especially as the leaderboards came up, and nodded along. “I won’t ever give up my throne so easily so you better be giving it your all. I got someone I think might be after it a little more actively buuuut…it’s good to hear you’ll be making a good hero, whatever the case kid.~” She gave a soft wink before resting back again, definitely seeing Karen as a promising young student she should be keeping an eye on as things go along.
“heheheh.” She chuckled a little at the enforcement that she she should be treated properly, and nodded along even if a little dismissive. “Right right, fine. But any time outside of this school, just treat me like a peer okay? You’re on the hero course, that’s good enough for me. I don’t need you kissing my ass with those honorifics or treating me special. As far as I’m concerned you’re just a hero waiting in the wings, no reason I shouldn’t treat you as an equal already, ya know?”
Mia nodded along as she was handed the forms, but with them also came the sensation that the business between the two was coming to a close now. She folded up the papers, making note on the rain gear. “Heh, yeah. My mom likes to spread her winks so she definitely needs something to stop her feathers getting all damp, but whatever the case I’ll hand over you guys’ info lickety split.” Pocketing the form in her back pocket, she reached across and offered her hand. “Buuuut. If that’s all I really should get going. Back to patrolling tomorrow, and I wanna enjoy my day off while I have it. Nice meeting you though, for sure!~”

That was an interesting way of interpreting it in Karen's opinion. Certainly her intention wasn't to use anyone as a stepping stone. But perhaps it was a favorable thing to catch the eye of one of the current top heroes. This misunderstanding could be useful in its own way. Any press was good press. Any attention from outstanding pro heroes was good attention. "I've spent most of my life aiming to be the best at what I do. It probably doesn't mean much coming from a fledgling barely enrolled in hero school. But I can confirm with certainty that my outlook won't change no matter what."Of course Karen wasn't the only one who thought this way. Among her future upperclassman there were certainly those aiming for the same thing as confirmed by Mia. It really got her excited about going to UA and meeting all these amazing people. Assuming she was correct in thinking that a pro hero didn't just give praises willy-nilly, she was expecting at minimum that these upperclassman ought to outclass her quite a bit at her current level and show her a thing or two. She may hate losing, but a well-justified defeat was a bounty of learning experience. And that was sort of a win too. "One day for sure we'll have a more casual encounter Ms. Kearney. I don't particularly mean it as sucking up. I just give respect where respect is due."Of course all good things come to an end. Karen had been thinking for a while now that it was about time for Mia to be going. She had indulged her enough and Karen was grateful to extents that the pro hero might never know. It was truly lucky to have had this chance to meet Mia today and even talk about things outside of business. Karen reached across and shook the hero's hand, this moment possibly the very highlight of the visit, at least for her. No she wasn't not going to wash her hand ever again, but she would certainly do her best to etch this feeling into her permanent memory. Her inner fan was more than satisfied and pleased. "Of course I understand. It was very very nice to meet you today as well. I'll definitely make sure you hear back from us again promptly once things are ready and in order."She would escort Mia as far as the exit and bid her farewell, wishing to herself that the hero enjoyed the rest of her day.
