Otome❖Kurokami ❝It's not always what it seems❞
Apparently her partner's way of dealing with things wasn't as neat as Otome's and the other man's death couldn't be swept away under the rug as easily as the target's. On the other hand Xerxes brought up the excellent point that the difference might just result in confusion on the police's end who would mark the two cases as unrelated. He wasn't too pleased either about the situation with the waiter. She guessed that in his line of work, he must have been used to tying up all loose ends personally. It wasn't as though she didn't understand that sentiment. It just so happened that in this case Otome was trying to act in a way that might suit their client's intentions the best. Or at least in her head it did. They would know soon enough if they actually did well. At Xerxes' behest she dropped the man and he landed on the grounds below with a dull thud. The effect was almost immediate. It started with a scream and the unmistakable sound of people rushing about to get somewhere. Ever the gentleman, her partner extended his hand which she gladly took and then led her out of the room and back to the dance floor where not everyone was still aware of the commotion outside. But the news would reach them soon enough. After making eye contact with the waiter they headed on up to where the client was supposedly watching all this from. All things considered, this job turned out to be not as bad as she thought at least so far. Her partner might have a different opinion, but in her current personal scoring Otome was indeed enjoying herself. Though she might be counting her eggs too soon. From Xerxes' tone, it didn't seem like he trusted the client very much. And clients that couldn't be trusted certainly weren't a rarity in this side of the world. There was always that risk that they would end up being loose ends themselves in the eyes of another party. And so she wondered if perhaps she wasn't done killing yet for the evening. "Do you think he'll make things easy for us?"She asked jokingly. Truth be told, her partner would know more about the client than she did. She had never actually met him face to face. The job offer and confirmation came discreetly and all Otome had to work with were the files on the target and a modest description of her partner whom thankfully was easy enough to find. She was in a good mood so far, but for his own sake, the client better not cause them trouble.

{ } He held her hand for as long as she would allow him, loosely so she could pull her hand back when she wanted to. But standing side by side, even with the masks on made people only scan over them and continue or not pay attention to them at all considering the sound and the scream from before. He looked over the people, some women looked distressed in their behaviour, hanging on to a man that would be near them or some simply walked passed them, the opposite path of where the body would be and they would leave probably not liking the party at all. He was actually curious to see what the news would say about this tomorrow or if they would say anything at all. His eyes fell on the waiter and he tugged softly on Otome her hand and took her along the small stars that would make them go up to the small balcony where their client was waiting. "Absolutely not, so be prepared." He muttered under his mask and even when he knew he did not have to protect her, he was still one step in front of her, half protecting her with his body. It was just because he was able to and because he was on the first steps of the stairs. The client looked up to them, lowering his mask. "Nice work. His guards just told me that it was idiotic to serve women, drinks and drugs and that he fell out of the window. They believe I set it all up, not expecting I did." He frowned, what did the man meant with the last few words. "They did not like him that much themselves, you see. But of course, we have to clean up the fact that it was all a bigger set up and there are now only two others that know." Akiva looked over his shoulder and looked at Otome but noticed two guys behind her on the stairs, on the stairs on the opposite of theirs also leading to the balcony were others, again two. His own hands got itchy. He wanted to grab the man but now his eyes back on him, he did not stand there, it was a hologram that the waiter just kicked away. Downstairs, he heard the same voice, "We should get out, we have assassins here." The man ushered the clients out, with a perfect amount of panic in his voice but he turned to look over his shoulder, meeting the chocolate brown eyes of Akiva and grinning. So it was a set up indeed. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Otome❖Kurokami ❝It's not always what it seems❞
It was almost funny how swift Xerxes' would reply that their client was trouble. It made her wonder just what kind of bait was dangled in front of her partner to make such a cautious man accept such a shady job. Otome herself did not have the capacity to conduct her own background check, at least not on a client of this high profile. Curiosity merely won her over at the fact that they were offering that much to a no name like herself. Of course she wasn't too thrilled at the possibility of their client betraying them that evening. She believed that she had done a good job after all despite the troublesome conditions. But with her partner not being too optimistic at all she figured she ought to prepare for the worst. The first question was who would do the honors? From her earlier line of thought, she felt that Xerxes had more at stake. So if she had to be fair, he should be the one to take the traitor's head. In exchange, she would amuse herself with the clean up of the pawns that would most likely be sent their way. That would be the scenario that would play out. Speaking of amusing things, being led around by the hand with her partner in front of her made her feel like she was being protected. Intentional or not, it reminded her of a similar memory from a few years ago. Much in the same way she didn't need protection back then, but it was cute that her 'protector' was trying so hard. "I shall do my best to not be a burden."She would reply politely in a somewhat playful yet also reassuring tone. Upon arriving at their destination Otome would immediately notice that something was off about the client waiting there for them. In her opinion he seemed too careless, lowering his mask and then making a bit of small talk. It didn't look like he had their reward prepared for them at all either. It seemed Xerxes' assumption was on point. Revealing his true colors, it would appear that they were simply being spoken to through a hologram and the real one was back downstairs. Otome of course noticed the men approaching from the other side and her partner looking over behind her meant it was safe to assume they were coming from behind them too. It was such a waste of the set up that she had prepared, but she had already decided what she wanted to do here. "He owes you quite a sum doesn't he? You should go after him. I feel that if we let him get away tonight, things will only get more troubling for both of us down the line. You can leave this lot to me."After saying her piece, her seemingly harmless tail would once again split up to reveal its true nature, her nine tails in full display. Two of the tails would suddenly extend towards opposite sides of the balcony as the first henchmen from both stairs reached the top. They would find themselves getting promptly swatted back and sent tumbling down the steps by Otome's tails. There were at least a couple of hundred kg of force behind those strikes. She might have even broken something before they fell. She wasn't playing around. "Go on. I'll catch up with you soon enough."It was quite foolish of them to give Otome the high ground. Considering where she was at it would be difficult to approach her and get past her mass of tails. Meanwhile any attempts at trying to shoot at her from below could be fended off by simply stepping backward deeper in the balcony as it wouldn't give them a clear shot.

{ } Maybe he got too much experience with it or maybe he was a sceptic when it came to the way the world for villains worked. It was maybe more society pushing them into the direct distinction of the word than Akiva pushing himself into it, but that did not mean he was trying very hard to fight his way out. This guy, definitely was going out of bound and the man would bring him back. It wasn't that the man that now ran downstairs telling that there were assassins here, owned him a lot of money, no, he got quite enough from this, no he owned him information about Ai. He had said he knew where the boy he was searching for was. But he was now running off, Akiva already expected the man to be lying at him but he wanted to know how he knew. Who told this guy about him and Ai? Huh?He looked over his shoulder at Otome as she said he should go and follow the client that they had but there were four people here. He did not have to wait long for the woman to demonstrate her quirk and he tilted his head a little, shame that it was hidden by the jackal mask but he grinned at the look of her quirk, "Now that's a way to handle it." He did not need the stairs anyway. He stood upon the balcony fence, protecting people from falling off but well every feline would end on his paws. So he simply jumped off. He would use his quirk in a few minutes but he had to swipe the guy away from the public eye. Well the good thing was that people were panicking and not paying attention to him and only listening to the words from before, screaming, running out and thus the man simply had the pleasure to watch the work that the client had done for him. No one would watch him transform, his jackal mask falling off. He would hide his face, at least his red hair would now not be seen for a long time. He did not like the unnecessary but people seeing a lion and they would run even more. They would not have much time, police would come with such high class people running and screaming. He lowered in his movement and jumped on the back of the client and pushed out his claws in the back of the client, "Let's discuss that payment." He said with a soft roar as he lowered his lion head to the ear of the man. "We do not do well with runaways." MADE BY VEL OF GS

Otome❖Kurokami ❝It's not always what it seems❞
So many things were going on all at once. It was a first for Otome to get caught up in such a chaotic situation. She preferred being in control almost every step of the way. Though if she had to name a plus, it would be the enjoyment she was feeling from the panic in the air, knowing that it was her and her partner who was the cause of all of it. It was a strange thing, like secondhand emotion. But she wouldn't think too hard about it for now. They still had to get out of there safely before this becomes a memory they could look back fondly on. He seemed reluctant to leave her alone first, at least until she gave a small demonstration of what exactly her quirk was capable of. In hindsight she could have given him a boost and thrown him down from the balcony instead of him jumping off on his own. But it would appear that his own quirk was suitable for this sort of chase anyway. It was a lion-like transformation with all of the speed and nimbleness you'd expect from a feline creature. Watching him from above, she saw that he easily caught up to their fleeing target and had him pinned, causing her to smirk. Her prediction on the distribution of their roles for this scenario was spot on. Now a dilemma was presented to the guards. On one hand they still had to put down Otome somehow. But on the other hand their boss was now at the mercy of Xerxes. The shrewd fox would not miss this moment of indecisiveness and use the opening to make her way down herself. Sliding down the rails of one set of stairs using her tails to keep her balance, she managed to take out a couple of more guards along the way before finally making it back to the dance floor. The guards at the foot of the stairs finally decided that Otome was the closer target but they were too slow. While they still had to draw their weapons, her tails had already extended to nearly take off their heads with a powerful slap. She wasn't satisfied yet. In her mind these guards would only get up again later. Approaching the guards lying on the ground after getting hit, she would proceed to smash their kneecaps so that they couldn't stand up if they tried. Those who were still conscious would yelp in agony, sending further waves of fear to anyone who still hadn't gotten out of there, as well as getting a frightening imagery of a nine-tailed young woman mercilessly picking on guys who were already down. Music to her ears. At least one guard however was more tenacious than others. Gritting his teeth when Otome destroyed his knees, he reached for his gun, not knowing that Otome had been watching him the entire time from behind her mask. She had been pretending that her attention was elsewhere and was distracted. His hands were shaking from the pain of falling from the stairs earlier and he struggled to steady his aim. Before he could pull the trigger though, one of Otome's idle tails would suddenly whip downward at his hands, breaking a few fingers while causing him to lose his grip of the gun. Otome walked closer and bent down in front of him, grinning at his struggle, though her mask hid it. "I'm trying to hold back from killing anyone you know. This wasn't the contract I received. I'm thankful for you being my playmates for just a bit, but let's not pull out guns okay?"The man shouted a rather offensive slur in his moment of defiance, but Otome would promptly shut him up with a blow to the head. She wondered how her partner was doing.

{ } The black lion simply put more pressure on the back of the man that he was standing on. He was softly purring, meaning his talk was like a very quiet whisper as he lowered his mane and head to speak in the ear of the man on the ground. "Tsk." Was a sound he made with the breath going between his teeth that he was grinding onto the other, "What a shame, I thought we had a deal, you would tell me where he was." He pulled the nails of his claws back before slamming them back into the skin of the man wiggling underneath him. "Uh uh. If you do that, it would only hurt more my friend. So where is he?" But the man said he had lied, he had not much to offer as the stocks had gone to the man they just killed, Akiva hushed him, hearing him speak too loud, lucky for him most people were now outside. Seconds away, someone must have called the police. "There is a rumour that a red haired man is looking for someone. Xerxes, that's exactly your name. I thought you might come work for me if I promised." Akiva only roared, so he had not been careful enough, his hair was a bothering thing, he knew that but it was also the only thing, well the brightest thing he and Ai had in common. Too many things, he was now a hundred percent sure Megitsune could take care of herself but what would they do, what should he have to do. He kept his ears open if he would hear her speak but the only thing he wanted to do was kill this man, rip his head off his body. "Now listen very carefully, Hiwatari-san, let's strike another deal, your life will be spared, you will tell the police that it was your doing, that you simply caught in a fight and accidentally pushed the man of the balcony, not cuz he stole your stocks but because he wanted to ruin your party and already killed his own man, in the other room, you bumped into that. You see, no one else has to know and if you do tell the truth, I will find you," The last words he simply hissed in the ears of the man beneath him, "I will claw open your chest, piece by single piece and after that I let her tear away every one of your limbs and if that's not enough, I will show you the same tactic on every single one of your men here, I will find your wife, I will find your kids, it's all up to you my friend." "Stop!" The man called out and Akiva simply leaned back, his jacket was ruined the multiple claw markings in there but the lion simply walked back to where he noticed the jackal mask and changed back, in a swift agile movement, the mask was on his face again without showing. All while Hiwatari, their client spoke, "Let them go." He wasn't sure if there was much to go on to, it seemed that Megitsune had her fun. Most of the people seemed to be knocked out, the waiter was hiding behind the balustrade and about two other guards were still standing, and one was simply just dropping from her grip, maybe just in time? Please tell him that the guard wasn't dead. "Well, Little Fox-chan, if you would accompany me one more time, I think it's time to go. Man I could use a good drink, how about you?" Though it was rhetorical, he had not decided if he would lower his mask to show his face to her, his bright red hair, albeit tide down in a braid was not so obvious now but still it was bright red. How many guys were like that if not only... him and Ai. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Otome❖Kurokami ❝It's not always what it seems❞
Having all but incapacitated the opposition on her side, Otome finally got the chance to head over to where her partner was. By the time she turned around however, it seemed like things were already settled. Her partner had undone his earlier transformation and was the one heading over to where she was. Meanwhile their naughty client was... still alive. He didn't have the insufferable smug look on his face anymore but he was very much alive. It didn't even look like he received any lasting injuries, though his eyes were on Xerxes the entire time. It appeared there was an order for the guards to stand down as well. The remaining ones that Otome had been keeping an eye on didn't look like they wanted anything more to do with her. Well, the fact that the men had stopped troubling them now meant that her partner settled things somehow. Perhaps he struck a new deal. "Is it over already? I hope you got him to cough up what you wanted."Xerxes had put his mask back on. He was probably as careful about showing his real face as she was. She could respect that though. Everyone had their reasons to keep their identities secret especially in this line of work. It made her wonder if he wore a mask even outside of masquerade parties like this. With the sound of sirens in the distance, the police finally getting involved signaled that it really was the end. It would be best if they didn't stick around longer and Xerxes shared the same sentiment offering his hand to Otome once again and politely requesting that they leave now while she accompanied him somewhere for a drink. That she referred to her as Fox-chan gave her the impression that he was trying to make a joke and so if he was feeling humorous then she figured maybe things did work out for him in the end. "If you're looking for company after this then you would have to a draft me a new contract too." She would reply in jest but offer her hand anyway expecting to be led out much like earlier. She had her fun and for Xerxes who probably took this betrayal hardest between the two of them she didn't want to cause him any more headaches. Though if he really was serious about having a drink she would have to decline later. There was a reason she was drinking only fruit punch all night.
