Hear me [Nimue & G]

She did not ask anymore, he did not shut her out, but she understood that if he did not want to jinx it, she should not ask anymore questions. "That's great." That's all she would say and she meant it and smiled at him. It made her think for a second again about Kasumi and what Nimue felt when meeting her and looking at the whole situation when it came to her asking Mosa if she could continue drawing, how shy she was but asking for stories, it was very cute. Thank the Gods though that she did not think about it before with Oz. Maybe that's why she had not thought about it before. N-n-not that now her life was so different. So she went on to their patrol and looked up surprised when G asked her about the weather. 

That was a strange thing, she usually did not keep up with the weather, the weather would tell her what it wanted to tell her. She did not do it in South Africa, she did not do it in Japan. But when she looked up she noticed something strange. That's when she sprinted through the alley ways, guided by a faith and something that was just there. Jumping over everything that was necessary to make her faster. Her hood falling off, showing her green hair as a waterfall over her shoulders, who cared about hiding your identity when people were in trouble. She stopped when she ran out of the alley and staring at the four story building that was in a bright ablaze of fire. What to do. 

She did not hear him, next to her, asking for guidance, her eyes scanning, seeing things she hoped that would give her an indication of anything, the fire truck people appeared but she had no eye for that either, she had heard something and without saying anything, she ran into the fire. She had a plan that was for sure but it would have been nice if she said something. Her eyes turned blue, the first floor was not reached yet, not at the front door, Iwayo and Nimue ran to the stairs, still stable, looking okay. She heard it again, the crying of a babe. She should hurry. She muttered a prayer. They had to go in there, they had to find the child. She had to give guidance, she had to tell people to count, were they okay, healing, but why did she automatically ran into the building. She coughed, not noticing, not caring, "Where are you?" But a baby would not be able to cry out but it seemed to understand nonetheless and kept crying, she reached the first floor, more smoke here and water on the floor, the heat was intense, it seemed to be coming from above, that meant the second floor and the following were already hot and heavy. She had to hurry before it would collapse. But where was the baby! She tried doors left and right, finally hearing it again, kicking open the door. "Here little one." What was she an idiot. 

Her footsteps echoing at first on the hard wooden floor, on the stairs, running around, trying to find an aim and find that child. Where was it, how could she not hear the child now, there was one more door or she had to go up a floor and that was ridiculous. She felt like the nerves change into sweat drops that appeared on her forehead. She had to save this child and she had to do it properly, she was a pro-hero. She hissed as the door know was quite warm and it did not open the door either, holding on with Iwayo, she kicked into the door, not because of the force but the harshness of her skin would help brake the wood that was setting out and thus blocking the doorknob, the fire must have reached this room. 

When she entered the room, she had not expected what to see, she had expected only a baby but what happened was that she found a woman on the ground, she was bleeding from a head wound and clearly knocked out and next to her in the baby box was still crying, it was rather trying to get out, understanding the possible problem that was there, she did not have to see long but noticed the kitchen was already on fire and a hole in the ceiling that meant the fire probably started above their apartment. No time to check what was going on and why the woman was hurt, she with help of Iwayo she picked up the baby, held it with one hand and with a lot of difficulty heaved the woman her upper body on her back so she held on to her hand, the baby, albeit almost a toddler seemed to understand what she was doing, not squirming and it quit crying as well. Nimue had to hurry to get out, it was getting awfully warm in here. 

The smoke had caught up with them and she could not help but cough, trying to cover the mouth of the little one as well as it's nose by pressing it softly against her chest, this was rather difficult. She knew she had to hurry, Iwayo and the others did not have to tell her but carrying a body with her while not focused on strength was not very useful. She reached the stairs but wobbled and fell off, turning onto her back, to protect the baby, the woman that she carried as well, was already lost when she fell. Shit! She got up, at least the heat was gone from here, she felt bruised, hot and bothered and she stood up quickly, the child crying again. She coughed a couple of time and was so focused on trying to get up the stairs again that she missed G helping her out. She could not carry the woman anymore but there was no need, she was safe, they could get out of the house now, she held the baby trying to shush the little one, they were fine. She would check in a bit to make sure they were okay health wise but she needed to sit down and catch her breath. 

She had no eyes for Goliath, no eyes for the firemen desperately trying to safe the building nor trying the ones next to it. She simply slouched down on her knees, holding the baby while coughing, moving it a little up and a little down, her eyes switched from blue to green and she tickled the little one to make it laugh instead of cry, trying to smile and make it feel better. Nkosi cleaned her lungs of the dark smoke inside there, it was easy, painful yes, but it would work out fine. The baby laughed at her, with little hiccups, Nkosi could quicker clean the effect of the smoke to the baby than to Nimue, so the woman coughed a couple of times more before it was over. The spirit being utterly unhappy about the course of action but Nimue did not care. She did not feel the need to be healed of the little pain of the bruises on her back that were coming, most important was the little on and the mother. She asked G to hold her up as she had to move to the woman but her legs were mush, she handed the baby to him and asked him to look after the little before working on healing and finding out what was wrong with the mother, at least she assumed she was. 

The police tried to talk to her when finally she simply let it slide, could they not see that she was busy with most important things. She heard finally the firemen being excited as they saved the buildings next to this one and put the fire out and she congratulated them, propped up the woman who woke up and had a short conversation to her about what happened. As the woman had noticed the fire she tried to get out but somehow must have hurt her head and slipped, that's why they could not get out. 

She needed to eat something before getting upright and talk to the police and the head of the fire department. Even someone of the news showed up, her coat might be not really well and her face not hidden but for now Nimue did not care. Witch Doctor was there to fix the issue and she did, this was her job right, being a pro hero. And while considering that her eyes turned to G and she grinned, this was okay, this was why she liked her job.
