Mia was one of the few heroes in the area that wasn’t a teacher, and with more and more quirkers who thought they could use their powers however they wanted, that came with a lot of responsibility. For one her daily patrol routes, while sometimes fruitless, were incredibly important for cementing the idea of heroes in the mind of the public. Seeing a giant woman with a horn dressed in a fancy costume could be a ridiculous part of some people’s days, but for the growing fans of the hero community it was important for them to recognize for better or worse that heroes were a part of the culture now.
Of course it wasn’t all just daily routines though. Being on call at night could definitely weigh on Mia’s shoulders. Her mutations meant she had a lot more stamina than most but no one liked being woken up in the middle of the night, or worse, staying up all night just waiting for a potential call to action that may never end up coming. Still, there was a sense of satisfaction on being able to help in those situations, and Mia wouldn’t think about switching her line of work for a second. Especially when it came to the larger cases.
Yeah, the final aspect of her work as a hero. The big fish. The criminals and organizations that were smart enough to slip their work under the radar, or more generally, just big enough threats that no single hero could be expected to take them on safely alone. They were the ones Mia lived for. Sure, stopping some street thug came with an audience and a sense of accomplishment, but the big fish where what Mia lived for. Storming a compound or facing an actual challenge? Who wouldn’t be ecstatic at the chance to show off their strength and really cement themselves as a hero like that!? Of course, it wasn’t all straight forward. The big fish came with a lot of attention and a lot of build up. They were usually smart enough to cover their tracks, or wise to the tricks of the trade as far as police work went. They required a careful approach, gathering information from witnesses, long stake outs, the works, and those parts weren’t so favoured by Mia.
Least of all, the communicating with witnesses…
Now don’t get her wrong, Mia was more than her fair share of a people person. She loved to rile up a crowd or help people enjoy themselves, but when it came to those in a vulnerable position her people skills definitely needed work. She wasn’t good at knowing what to say without hitting a trigger word or touching a raw nerve, but it was still part of the job and an important one at that. A part of the job she had to do today.
Over the recent months the Painter had become more and more central in the eyes of the media. Their work was loud and flashy, hardly hiding it, and as such they’d gotten a bit more attention than they maybe deserved…well they were a killer, they deserved a lot of attention, but still there were no real signs of how big a player they were yet. Not in Mia’s eyes at least. She had yet to see any examples that really shouted that the odd neon this person left behind was particularly powerful, but all the same they’d become a big threat. They’d left their mark on several occasions, killed a fair handful of supposedly innocent people, and now, presently, had caused harm to a member of UA>
Mia admittedly was almost disappointed it was one of the kids she’d already met. Not because she wanted them to get hurt, but because she was pretty sure none of those kids would have let this punk get away without a fight.
Back to the present however, all this had lead to Mia’s assignment for today, a part of her job she dreaded but recognized the importance of. As one of the few active heroes outside of the school she’d been put in charge of some of the hero work behind tracking down the Painter. An important step was getting the witness statement of the Painter’s stabbing victim. Least the kid wasn’t killed she supposed, but still. Hurting a kid from that school ruffled her feathers something fierce, and even as she walked down the hospital halls she needed to make a conscious effort to calm herself with slow and deep breaths.
Heck, even stopping before the door, thinking about the fact some shitty little punk had the audacity to just attack an aspiring hero…well. She’d learn more as the day went on. For now she calmed herself, her muscles shrinking down from her usual beefy state to something a little softer. Still toned as hell but more natural even for a woman her size. She entered the door, a private hospital room prepared so she and the victim of the attack could discuss matters in private without any prying eyes or ears.
Spotting the girl (likely in her bed but feel free to correct me) Mia raised her hand with a somewhat nervous and cautious approach, not sure if the girl had received any trauma from the assault. “Hey…Aki right? Mind if I pull up a seat kid?”
If given the opportunity Mia would indeed take a seat. For this approach with the kid Mia had dressed in more casual clothes. A sweater given the weather and some cargo pants for the leg room. Again if allowed she’d pull up a hospital chair, feel if it was sturdy enough by pushing down on it a little with her hand, and twirl it about to sit on it backwards. She rested her arms crossed along the back of the chair that was now infront of her, leaning over towards the young red head with a faintly unsure smile. She hated dealing with potentially vulnerable people, she never felt she had the right thing to say. She could open with how she was assigned to the girl’s case, how she was the hero red horn…but it felt best to start soft.
“So…I need to talk to you a little, but first I just gotta ask how your recovery is goin. If this is a bad time I don’t mind comin’ back later.”

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Aki was going to get a visit, or at least, so she was told. A pro hero, that wanted to get a little more information for an investigation, so that they could find whoever had done this harmful stabbing to the wildling. There were too many parts in that little string of information that made very little sense to Aki, so the girl wasn't entirely sure what the point was. The idea that doing something bad got you punished was something that Aki understood. Aki also understood that the intent was, that the pink haired female that had stabbed her multiple times, was to be punished for behaving badly. What Aki didn't understand, was why they needed to speak to her to punish the pink haired girl. Aki was lying in bed, Yumi's bed, while her roommate was out and about. Classes, shopping, sorting meals. There was no limit to how busy Yumi managed to get herself. Something about class president stuff too. Normally, Aki would've been busy with a ton of her own stuff as well. Mainly hunting, or having correctional classes to assist her catching up to the main student body. Nowadays, the most she studied was having a bit of reading material with some of the teachers occasionally swinging by to offer her a lesson. Naturally, assigning her homework in her current condition wasn't exactly the smartest idea. Not that a healthy Aki could be forced to sit down and do homework to begin with. As the door to the room opened, Aki shifted her position ever so slightly, to get a better view of the door. At first, she had assumed it was going to be Yumi-chan. Or perhaps one of the other classmates, wanting to swing by. They had been rather good at keeping Aki entertained. At keeping her company, so that she didn't feel completely alone. Yuuei had, by and large, become Aki's pack. Every single individual here meant something for her. Well, perhaps not every single student, but a vast majority. There were even a lot of students in the other classes that Aki had grown fond of, like Chimera and Yojin... but the one in the door, was neither of those people. It was a muscle bound tightly built woman. Aki's eyes slightly widened, not with fear or with distaste, nor questions. The expression painted across her face was a simple whoah, this woman must be an insanely competent huntress!Somewhat stunned, that it was possible to become that buff for a female. Aki slightly shook her head, regaining her composure. "Yes, I Aki." The redhead responded. The expression of awe, the clear desire to be friendly, standing in stark contrast to how she looked. Pale as a ghost, and dark rings around her eyes, indicating exactly how poor of a condition she was in. Even so, that seemed to have little effect on her actual mood. "...You.. Mia?.. Pro hero, talk to Aki?" The wildling inquired in the same tone as before. There wasn't much of a reply to the question of pulling up a seat. The only seat Aki ever pulled up was in the bathroom."..Nurse Nimue say Aki be okay. Not allowed do anything, or Aki start bleeding again. So Aki get really bored." The girl replied, looking to Mia with intent. Now, there was a slight bit of a pause in the conversation. Aki pounced on the chance to ask her own questions, clearly more interested in what kind of person Mia was, than talking about the assault on her own self. Afterall, Aki knew all about the assault, but she knew nothing about Mia. "Is Mia huntress? Look very strong and tough. Would make good huntress." Aki nodded, as if to convince Mia to the truth of her words.

Mia quirked her brow as she was introduced to the red head before her, quickly catching onto the odd speech patterns. For a moment she wondered if this was just a limiting factor of whatever quirk she had or if she maybe had received a head wound during the incident, before a spark ran through her mind and she felt like an idiot, lightly rubbing her face as she recalled this girl’s file mentioned something about her social ineptitude due to being, in her own words, a ‘wildling’ of some sort. She hadn’t managed to grab the whole store behind that…but in a way Mia felt a little more at ease recalling this. The usual social nerves she had dealing with someone injured faded a fair bit when Aki seemed to present herself in a rather chipper mood and very easy to approach, seeming to approach her wound more with frustration than sensitivity about the subject.
“Well you better listen to the nurse I guess, but I get it. I know I’d be bored if I was stuck in bed all day eh?” She smiled, hoping to start out well with some relation to the girl no matter how small, sharing a warm smile with her and reaching down into her pocket, pulling out a full size chocolate bar she’d been idly snapping blocks off of on the way over, snapping off a whole strip and offering it across to the little huntress. “Hopefully this lightens your day a little?” It wasn’t much, but Mia wasn’t exactly prepared with a get well gift, just a little something to keep the girl in good spirits.
The questions helped a little for her too, helped remind her she wasn’t just dealing with wounded victim x, but an actual person. She could tell she wasn’t a fan since she didn’t seem to recognize her, but at the very least she seemed impressed which Mia could just eat up, almost licking her lips but resisting the very minor, and mostly metaphorical urge in her chest to do so. She leaned more over the back of the chair and chuckled. “Oh I’m a type of hunter I guess. I hunt bad guys down. I’m a hero, ya know, what you’re here training to become?” She asked, hoping she was on the right page there. She knew the girl had odd specifications to her studies due to her unique condition as a ‘wildling’ but she assumed it must have been explained to her what kind of school this was yeah? Yeah that felt like a fair assumption whatever the case. “Glad you think I make a good huntress though. If big and strong is what it takes, I can be much bigger and stronger than this, believe me.~”
She offered a bright grin before moving on just a little, expression still positive, but a little more serious as she settled into place. “Now, Aki yeah?” She made sure they were on the same page even if the girl readily referred to herself in the first person, it was basic interview training the hero association had given her to make subtle confirmations like that to show she was being attentive to the victim. “You’re injury. You mind telling me about it? See, I hunt bad guys like I said, and we think a really big bad guy might have been the one to hurt you, so…you’re a track I need to follow, does that make sense? I need you to give me all the info you can to help me find my prey yeah?” She smiled, hoping to keep things positive with the girl.

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The brute was earning more and more of Aki's interest by the moment. Getting even bigger, even stronger. Using her abilities to be a hunter of bad guys. So there was hunting involved in being a pro hero. One could go out and hunt people who did the bad things, and that was completely okay. Somewhere, this realization that, while hunting people was generally not okay, hunting bad guys to put them in the unpleasant box where they held bad people. The prison box. Catching bad guys was seen as heroic, and this little set of news, that no one had properly explained to Aki - probably because they were afraid she'd think of it as literal hunting, aiming to kill her prey - had her overjoyed. "Oh, oh, Aki learn how hunt bad guy too! Put in box of unhappy. They not allowed leave." Aki exclaimed, joyously. Mia, in her communication with the simple wildling, had struck gold. Communicating with Aki wasn't difficult, as long as you got the right approach angle. So now, without even hesitating, Aki was on the same team as Mia, trying to explain as much as she could, with as much detail as she could. Tracking trails of another hunter's prey was difficult enough as it were. Tracking without proper information, almost impossible."Aki meet bad girl for hunting catching in town. Was near place where guys laugh loud, drink non-tasty stuff and act weirder the more late it is." That was about the best description Aki could give, as she wasn't exactly positive on the differences between a bar, a restaurant and other such establishments. So simply describing what she had seen inside, would have to make do for the pro hero. There were only a few places like that in town, so simply asking around if any of them had seen something suspicious ought to get her to the location. "Many saw Aki leave, many will know." The girl added, quietly. "...Girl was walking odd. Like something inside broke." What Aki meant to say, was that Luzia had seemed a little deranged in her approach. It might've been a more accurate statement form her, that something inside Luzia had broken. That there were a few screws loose. "Pink. Small. Angry. Smell kind of funny. Dress more like Aki than normal person?" The redhead wildling was trying her best to give usable information. At this point, she was kind of running out, though. Biting her lip, she remained focussed on the task for a few more moments. Which, for Aki, was quite impressive in and of itself..."...Mia go hunt bad?.. Sometime teach Aki how hunt bad?.. This bad hurt Aki, Aki want get better huntress too." Straight back to admiring Mia. This was the first adult that Aki could properly relate to. The first adult that took Aki's interest and turned it into something useful, instead of trying to change Aki into something different. There were small stars floating in her eyes. Though, Aki was also very quickly burning through what little energy she had. In these few, short moments however, Aki seemed healthier than she had been for a while.

Mia wasn’t sure exactly how to handle the kid if she was honest. The file she’d been presented with mentioning the whole wildling aspect but only seeing it in person gave her a true example of what exactly was going on here. She wondered if she should be more careful with her choice of words since the red head in the bed seemed heavily impressionable even from just her first few seconds of interacting with her, but when she responded well to the idea of hunting down the bad guys, maybe just talking her language was the best way to go about it. “Hheheh. Yeah. Box of unhappy. Trust me when I find this girl she’s gonna be put in a box of extra unhappy just for what she did to you.~” She offered a warm, hopefully reassuring smile before she listened closely to what the young girl was saying, leaning over the back of the chair she was using and making sure to take in what she could from what she was saying. Of course, it wasn’t all too clear. A lot of the info was vague but she couldn’t really blame the young red head for that if she simply wasn’t used to the more modern world.
“Right, noises, lights, and people getting drunk…” She gently rubbed her chin. If it were the city Mia’s first thought would be the red light district, but if it happened more locally to the school that narrowed down her choices a lot, even if it spread them out a lot more. Leaning a little more heavily on the back of the chair (still sitting in it in a reverse pose, using the back of the chair at her front) she asked carefully. “You sure it was in town kid? With all the smaller buildings? Like, you didn’t need to get a train there did you?” Of course if Aki wasn’t sure, Mia could always check the case file later since it’d probably mention where Aki had been found after the attack, but she felt it offered some sense of respect to try and get it from Aki’s mouth directly.
As she started to describe the girl herself, she wasn’t too sure for a moment what could be meant by the girl dressing more like her…but being a wildling Mia assumed Aki was the kind to wear more dirty and less socially acceptable clothes if it seemed suitable to her. Odds were that this girl was probably not in the best state of mind, or her living conditions for that matter, if she looked more like a wildling than a person in terms of her attire. “Probably homeless then…what did you mean by broken? Like, did one of their legs limp?” Just incase Aki didn’t grab the term, Mia stood up from the chair, and mimicked a limping motion, half dragging a leg behind her. “Something like this? Or was it maybe in their chest or shoulder?” She’d gesture to this areas as she spoke, making sure that Aki had some visual aids so she could keep up. With no offense meant, Mia recognized she probably wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed.
With the final words, Mia took on a soft expression and slowly moved back into the chair she’d been using, a lightly cheeky tint to her smile as she addressed the young girl before her. “Oh you need the mighty Red Horn to teach ya how to hunt huh?~” She smiled and nodded softly. “Well, if I ever get the chance I’ll come visit ya here at school. I’m a bit of a busy hero, but, if a huntress like you wants to learn from me, it’d be my honor to teach ya sometime. Sound like a plan?”
