"Hiking, huh? In this sort of weather?" "Well, it ain't snowing or anything, you know!" "Look, even your thunder thighs won't keep themselves warm while running through -4 or so degrees celsius." "And that's why I have packed tons of clothing to put on!" "Yeah, sure. And what about those pals of yours, huh? They ready for your level of a workout?" "Well... Atleast they seemed to be..." "What?" "I THINK SO GRAMPS!" "Pfeh, guess its sort of expected in heroism... You got food packed?" "Eeyup! Tons of beef jerky and sausages, and lots of stuff to provide energy!" "Fire making tools?" "Nah, we weren't planning on really camping out there, I don't think... Although I do have mat-" "So where are you planning on spending the evening then? Just running once around the place, and then taking the bus home? Waste of money that long of a trip..." "Well, uh... I think the plan was to go to this uh... Onsen? This place where you..." "ON SENile? You want ME to pay for the home trip?" "Onsen! Aka some sort of spa deal! Hot springs and what not! Shared effort! ...I think..." "Lucky teenagers... doing this sort of thing for sheer work out. Just make sure you come home alright, Alright?" "OF COURSE!"
As expected, Kirk was very excited about this prospect. Putting this much effort on a work out, getting himself a whole new area to see AND getting to meet some newish people interested in this sort of thing. It was like a dream come true! Of course he was the one who had sent a message to everybody to "Take lots of warm clothes, quick snacks and liquids, And maybe a phone charger just in case we need to call for help! Also money to pay for the Onsen!" With him being the sports clubs leader, he felt a little bit of responsibility for the crew. Sports and workoutvise, he was propably one of the more capable ones of the group to know how to handle longer runs.
...However, There was also this little nagging feeling behind his head. This was the first time in a while he had gone somewhere without either one of his classmates or a bro in tow. A completely new environment, with not even a single sports club member, but with complete strangers! ...Well, two of the crew he had met previously, and of course he had seen them in chat as well, but from the last time he had met them, they didn't exactly seem the sporty types. Albeit both were eager to LEARN?! And besides, they propably wouldn't have signed up for a trip of this magnitude without atleast expecting to need some tenacity from it! Rimma could propably handle the cold decently too, so atleast that was one less worry, but the rest?
Well, Kirk luckily wasn't enough of a thinker to think too much about them. Flinging an actual backpack onto his back in what felt like ages (somehow he had this foreboding feeling that he had to ready himself to carry somebody), he proceeded To pull his gloves on, and opened the door, giving his grandpa a quick wave and shout before leaving. "Hang in here, gramps! I'll be home a bit late!" "Got your house key with you?" Kirk blinked momentarily, as he put his hands into his pockets, pulling the bright orange chain out with the key at the end of it. "YUP!" "Thought so. Send me pictures of the place if you can." "Task accepted!" He smacked his index and middle finger onto his forehead, as he walked out of the house.
His pace was this time a little bit slower than usual.. the feeling of not having anything in his pouch felt a bit weird, and all the gear, from his silly horned soft cap, to his thick jacket, and thick pants with these proper Dark brown winter shoes, Had him almost thinking he was a bit OVERprepared for this. Heck, he seemed to be first to the bus stop in front of the school, as he pulled his phone from his pocket and checked it out to make sure if anybody was going to be late. "Not anything yet atleast..." He scratched the little red piece of ear poking out from under his cap... He should propably consider getting a new one, but these sports items didn't really pay for themselves...
He proceeded to look around in waiting, trying to see anybody coming. And with his energy levels, he naturally grew a bit bored. And whenever Kirk grew impatient, He always proceeded to squat... And thats what he did. In this case, there was nothing bad in keeping yourself warm propably.

When Kirk had brought up the idea of a hike in the school chat, Saito was on-board. Already a lover of jogging and getting his feet moving, hikes were just intense super-jogs up steep inclines and dangerous rocky surfaces. If ya didn’t die, they turned out to be quite the fun way to pass a day. Of course, this wasn’t gonna be just any old hike; nah, that’d be too easy for Japan’s heroic generation. It was a winter hike up like a mile of mountain. Oh yeah. They were practically begging to die. Obviously, Saito wasn’t taking this trivially. He recently bought a 50-litre mountaineering backpack cause… well, just in case he wanted to go mountaineering, he supposed. He had it stuffed entirely with supplies. Bottles of water; packs of breakfast bars, chocolate, cheese sticks; a group first-aid-kit he bought from a dodgy clinic; thick blankets, gear knife, spare socks and gloves, a hat. Oh, and a pack of his favourite apple-flavoured bubblegum. And that’s just the stuff he was willing to share. A map, whistle and compass sat on a pile of extra clothes for himself – boxers and his spare hoodie mixed with a clean shirt and jeans for after the onsen.
Oh right, the onsen. The plan was the catch a bus a way up the mountain and hike the way to a hot spring that Kirk heard about on the internet. Solid agenda. What could possibly go wrong? Saito looked at himself in his mirror. Time to get going. It was still early morning. Cold as fuck, not that it usually bothered him. Wallet in one pocket, phone in the other, heavy as fuck rucksack on his back and his breakfast plate in the sink, Saito turned everything in his room off before leaving. Save the trees, man.
Sunglasses resting on his head and gum in his mouth, Saito walked out of the dorm building with a yawn and his perpetually bandaged hands in his pockets. It was still early morning, about the time he’d leave to jog his route. The sun was just about to rise. Dawn was in 10 minutes or so. The sky was a mias-myriad of dark blues and subtle purpleish blacks. No snow. That was good. The mountain was probably a different story, though. Saito thought about who would be joining him and Kirk up the mountain. Two girls he’d not met before, Arisu and Rimma, who seemed quite hyped about the idea. And Emi. This was gonna be an experience, alright. He strolled casually to the bus stop outside the campus and saw, squatting beside the road, Kirk. “Oi!” He called, waving, smiling and approaching. “G’morning, meathead. You prepped for the hike?” Saito had no trouble with the huge rucksack that looked heavier than it had any right to be, squatting with Kirk for the hell of it. Chewing lightly on the gum, he listened to whatever Kirk had to say. “Ya made sure everyone knew to arrive this mornin’, right?” He asked, wondering if Emi even considered this time to be part of the day, night-owl that she seemed to be.
If anyone else arrived, Saito probably wouldn’t be the one to notice, standing back up and leaning against the bus stop, chewing on the gum with his arms crossed. The silver-haired boy was Kirk’s height but was less bulky and in much thinner clothes all things considered. The weather demanded winter layers, but Saito was just in his red hoodie and some worn jeans – plus some casual trainers and thick socks of course. If it was Rimma or Arisu that arrived first he’d nod, smile and say “Mornin’, how’s the cold treatin’ ya?” If it was Emi, he’d... well, he'd turn his head and stare out into the road, smiling as usual, but seeming kinda distant. He'd stay silent.
Yeah. Today was gonna be fun.

Man was not made to rise before the sun.
As far as Emi was concerned, those were words to live by. There was a damn good reason humans saw better in daylight, which meant her fellow students were going against God, evolution, whatever. Then again, all of them were big fat middle fingers to the status quo; a quintet of quirkers, better known to some as freaks of nature.
Ugh. With an early rising came dark thoughts. There were few things she despised more than missing her beauty sleep, but for her peers, she’d make an exception. She’d make sure they knew not to get used to it, but she also couldn’t turn down an invitation. The last time she’d been invited to go anywhere was…
… … There was that one time Serperior had opened his room for tea. Red Horn had sent out an invitation for her Halloween party. Anybody close to her age? … Chimera?
Wonderful. Finding enthusiasm at an ungodly hour was hard enough without reminding herself that barely anybody she knew wanted to hang out with her. All the more reason for her to turn up and try to make an acquaintance. Heck, if two of the boys she’d shared a room with felt she was worth taking for a jog, she had to be doing something right… Right? She was barely on time – an achievement she could attribute solely to her chauffeur, who awoke just as early as she did to drive her to the school. The scene was almost laughably stereotypical: a black car rolling up to the bus stop, with the driver moving to let himself out. Through tinted windows, the boys could barely see his passenger gesturing for him to stop. She could open her own door… For once. Emi did just that, stepping out to face her favourite muscle-bound boys.
Few could claim that Emi didn’t know fashion, but her outfit was quite the departure from her usual style. She owned a lot of winter clothes, and she owned a lot of walking clothes. She did not own any winter walking clothes. She’d toyed with the idea of wearing a skirt and leggings anyway, but the twofold embarrassment of being mocked for her outfit and getting it ruined by the weather and wildlife had scared her off the idea. The only alternative she could find (that wasn’t a free ticket to Hypothermia Town) wasn’t quite a fashion faux-pas, but the baggy set made for the most modest clothes they’d ever see her in. Yes, including their uniform.
They had plenty of time to take in her outfit, on account of her staring at them, only halfway out of the car. Her face bore a look somewhere between amusement, confusion and suspicion. Part of her wanted to mock them, but the rest of her mind won out. The part that wanted to giggle at the sight of two squatting students that had grown on her. Just a little. And so she did, settling into a smirk shortly after. “It’s still way, way too early to be awake.” She stepped out, pulling out a suspiciously average-sized backpack. No awards for guessing who was the least experienced hiker of the bunch. “There’re several good reasons why we sleep through the night, and you’re ignoring all of them.” She pushed the car door shut behind her, and her driver saw fit to flee the scene. Good thing, too, because her smile was already fading.
“It’s cold. It’s dark. We can’t see if a mugger’s waiting around the corner. The bugs are out.” She scrunched her lips together as she walked past the two, taking a seat at the stop. The expression held, an indicator of a thousand complaints left unsaid. Eventually she settled on a positive thought, albeit one that came with a touch of hesitation. “It’s good to see you both here.”

Feng needed a huge change of pace to her training.
Her daily routine of getting up early to practice her techniques and going out for a jog through the city is fun and all; but it does rather boring after a while. She overheard something about a Group hike in the mountain set up by Kirk in the group chat and it was just the change that Feng needed. Internally, she was debated about it for a fair bit since she just started to get used to the routine, but ultimately, she decided to go because it’s a hiking trip through the snowy mountains and it’s a good opportunity to meet some new people in her school. It would also be a good story to tell to the friends and family back home. Though it comes to the issue is making sure that she has the appropriate clothes for the excursion such as this, but she was more than prepared for something like this. She packed up the night before the trip, so all she needed to do is shower and head out early like she normally does. Though she triple checked if she had everything and debated on what to bring along and constantly went in circles until she decided to bring the essentials.
A change of clothes, training clothes, water, towel, hiking snacks, phone charger and portable battery. Packed everything she needed for a hike such as this and was rather normal to wake up early and walk to the designated bus stop.
Her outfit is her normal running gear but now it’s insulated against the cold of her destination. Warm, but still allows for maneuverability for the situation calls for it. She also remembered to wear her hiking shoes, which helps immensely for a trip such as this. Her backpack was filled with the essentials she needed for the hike, but she felt that she could have packed more but wasn’t sure on what else to bring. She almost had the urge to run back and bring a few extra things.
Listening to a rather relaxing playlist as she walks. She sees familiar faces while waiting for the bus to arrive, still rather nervous to talk to the others. She takes slow deep breathes to contain her nervousness about meeting more new faces.
If anyone came up to her, she would simply reply with “Mornin’” as she anxiously waits for the bus to arrive. She keeps a calm expression as she listens in on any conversations that are going on and watch for anyone else who is arriving to the bus.

--- arisu --- - To The Mountain Top - On the list of "Things Over Which Arisu Can And Will Stress And Agonize Over," there were a lot of things that most people would shrug off and ignore. Whether she said hi to enough people in the chat to keep from seeming more like a troll or a bitch than a geek. Whether she'd remembered all the corollaries to the rules and laws under examination during the last pop quiz. Whether anyone had gotten a glimpse up her skirt during her first practical exercise with the hovercart (on that, at least, she was pretty sure she was fine). Also, however, on that list were things that might actually be worth being concerned about. Like one of the first two people to be intentionally doused in copious, frigid gouts of black fire to the point he was huffing and puffing like he'd ran a marathon deciding he wanted to invite her to the middle of nowhere for a get together. Sure, Kirk seemed friendly enough. Sure, he seemed utterly incapable of the degree of guile required to preface "Attempted Murder" with "Invitation To Social Thing". Sure, he didn't seem the sort to resolve a grudge with a Super Slugger One Way Trip Off A Mountain Trail Via Baseball Bat. But shouldn't such things at least be considered?! She didn't KNOW him. She'd just fought him, the once, and chatted a few times via an admittedly impersonal conversation program. She decided it'd be best to be cautious, and to do her research before showing up. After all, he'd claimed he had a number of others invited. She'd go, and see if anyone else showed. Surely she hadn't pissed off anyone else besides Risaka oh christ those terrible glares still haunted her dreams enough to consider murder or mutilation or casual abandonment outside the bounds of civilization. If nobody else showed, she could just walk away before she made her official appearance. If it looked legit? She could pop over and everything could progress apace. The only problem was that plan didn't excuse her from packing for a hiking trip. So it was that, upon waking up on the fateful morning, she realized she hadn't set aside any of the things she'd need for a hiking trip. She had it all, sure, but it was scattered around her room, and what had been intended as a calm and deliberate preparation for a stealth op became a frantic scramble to assemble what she'd need when, inevitably, her paranoia was put in its place and she had to go on this early morning extended trip into the mountains. To her credit, Arisu arrived on time, even if on time here was still "later than everyone else." She'd tried to give herself an excuse to leave and let her anxiety have its way with her, but Saito was there. And before she could excuse Saito as an accomplice, Emi was there. And before she could write that off as a second victim, there came Feng, and with absolutely everyone she'd been told would be present right there in front of her... she ran out of excuses and trudged over to the others. She'd come relatively well prepared after all. A backpack filled with simple nuts and snacks to keep energy high on the trip, plus a few bottles of water, and a few articles of clothing she didn't think she'd necessarily need but didn't want to be without if she was wrong. Heavy hiking boots, warm socks, jeans over thin leggings meant to help cut down wind penetration more than to provide all that much added insulation, gloves, shirt, hooded sweatshirt and a windbreaker, plus a simple wool cap to hold the hood and her heat to her head if necessary. The hat and gloves currently poked out of her pockets and the windbreaker hung open over the half-zipped sweatshirt, carefully modulating the build up of body heat. Arisu lifted a hand to wave to the three familiar faces and the one unfamiliar Saito, addressing him first. "You must be Saito, since you're the only one I don't immediately recognize. It's nice to meet you, I'm Arisu, but I'd wager you figured that out already. And what cold are you talking about? I'm toasty." She smiled, an expert performance on display to hide the still-thudding pace of her heartbeat. Just because she'd convinced herself to join the others didn't mean her anxiety had yielded as well. "Morning, Emi, Feng, Kirk- everyone looks pretty ready to romp through the woods! Do we have a cool trail picked out? Any good sights along the way?" Rimma, of course, did not need encouragement to dress warmly. When she set foot out of her dorm room, she of course had her fluffy white scarf around her neck and her knitted cap on her head. Layers upon layers of coats padded out her torso and gave her a marshmallow-like shape, and if it wasn't for the track pants and sneakers she was wearing she wouldn't really strike the impression of someone about to go out jogging at all.
She might be willing to endure the cold in only a tracksuit for the sake of classes and indoor training, but there was absolutely no way she was going out jogging in the middle of winter like that. Not when, even as bundled up as she was, she still felt the persistent chill that was near constantly spread throughout her body. Despite that, though, the Russian girl was looking forward to the activity - it would be good training, but almost more importantly in her mind it would be a good opportunity to bond with more of her schoolmates.
So, she had her pockets stuffed full of all manner of her favorite snacks - and some she brought along specifically because she thoughts others might like them. Her phone had a full battery and was stuffed into a pocket along with a folded up charging cable, and she had made sure to scrounge up some money to chip in with for the onsen afterwards. With no room for her hands in her pockets, she had to keep them close to her sides as she left the dorm building and made the short trek to the front gate.
Despite how close the meeting point was, Rimma had found herself running a little behind in the process of getting ready - and she could already most if not everyone else had already arrived as she stepped off the school grounds and made her way to the bus stop. Jogging at a light pace, long red hair bobbing and swaying behind her, she raised one hand up in the air in a wave and called out. "Zdrastvootye, everyone! I hope I did not keep you waiting too long!"
Coming to a stop along with the group, she dropped her arm back down and made a point to give everyone she recognized a polite smile - and most she did, with only the boy with the rucksack really standing out as unfamiliar. Although she didn't know it, she did much as Arisu had not long before and introduced herself. "Ah, I take it you are Saito-San? I am Rimma, although with everyone else here first I imagine that was obvious." She flashed a small, slightly sheepish smile at that, before turning her attention back to the group at large.
"Are we all ready to go, nothing forgotten that needs grabbed at the last minute before it is to late?"

A loud "Oi!" Caught Kirks attention, as his head turned in Saitos direction As he casually lifted his hand in a greeting with an excited look on his face! "HOI DUDE!" He exuded a teeny tiny bit of relief with that greeting. It meant that atleast he was going out hiking with SOMEBODY! Come to think of it, this was the first time he had seen Saito outside of the chat. The boy looked quite muscly indeed and with the size of his backpack, it made sense why he would join him in this sort of thing. In fact, when it had been brought up, Kirk had pretty much wondered WHY he hadn't invited him for a workout before. "G'morning meathead!" Also with how directly he went towards the classic nickname from Risaka, he couldn't help but remind him of Darren. "Well of course! I ain't no slouch when I promise things!" And since Darren was one of the bros he trusted the most, there was the sort of feeling that they were going to get along just fine!
However, the squatting he had started didn't stop, as the dude joined him in his little warm-up. "Haven't gone this far yet since I moved here, you know! First time out of the city proper!" There was that time when he went to the beach with Yumi and Akio, but he didn't consider that a PROPER trip. The beach was part of the place after all! However, when Saito gave another word of doubt about Kirks arrangement skills, as he turned his head. "Well yeah! Who wouldn't!" He pulled his phone from his pocket again, showing the chatroom. "Atleast, none of them have TOLD me they wouldn't be coming!" Was that a bad thing? Maybe he should put some kind of message of his own just in case... Come to think of it they might be sleeping still...
However, Kirks mild worry was interrupted as a black and super slick car proceeded to park itself next to the bus station. his befuddlement stopped him almost in time as his eyes widened and he stared at it with couple of brief blinks. And his eyes would have propably widened even more if it was physically possible, when EMI stepped out of it, in clothes that didn't really mess with the fanciness of the car or with the fancy girl that he was used to seeing! Had he accidentally put in the wrong number?! But soon, Kirk almost sighed of relief, when she started nagging about the fact, that it was too early to get up. "Eh, you get used to it eventually! If there wasn't school we could do it more regularly!" It was definitely Emi. And Kirk happily answered her quick greeting. "Nice to see you too, dudette!"
At this point, almost like that fancy car of emis had broken some kind of dam, people started showing up. Feng, the girl from the opposing team of his payload exercise. Albeit, with her screaming techniques in that, she was now... noticeably more quiet. "Hi to you too!" He slapped his hands together. "that's 4 out of 6!" clearly this was supposed to be a mental note, but he had said it out loud.
Next one who came was Arisu, and she was as bubbly and talkative as ever, immediately setting her eyes on Saito. "Well, we are pretty toasty too after a warm-up admittedly..." He mumbled. He had never been really good at keeping up with this type of people. However, she was clearly curious about what they were doing, and that sort of excitement he could always agree with! "We are gonna wait for Rimma to show up, and then I tell you guys..." And coincidentally, as soon as he turned his head, there was rimma... Who looked awfully plump. "Good to see you are prepped too!" He gently patted her "fully packed" jacket just to welcome her for the most part, but a little bit because of curiousity about how much she had put on herself to survive the cold. Hopefully the girl knew what she was doing...
However, now that all the people were about, Kirk did a quick fist pump in celebration that everybody had come, And turned around, crossing his hands on his back, trying to sound a bit more official now. "Alright dudes! Its a bit late for last minute things, so its all in from now! But with how each of us is looking, I think we're all plenty prepared, if thats something!" He gave a proud thumbs up. Honestly, things had ended up WAY better than he had expected. "Now, the plan is to take this bus, and we get over to this one mountain called "Yuki-onnas hairline! Its this pretty high, but apparently easy to hike mountain filled with trees, and according to the blurb, when it snows it looks like a girls hairdo!" There was a bit of excitement in his voice as he explained it.
"Then, we jog and take a hike over to this bathhouse in there. Apparently there is this test thats like 'If you walked the trip, you get a free t-shirt!', So I thought we could try that at the same time you know!" That and the blurby description of the mountain itself was literally from their site, so it had to be up to date! There started to be sounds of an engine nearby, as the bus drove in front of the station. "Alrighty! Get in everybody!" Kirk lowered his backpack onto the storage of the bus, as he slapped it. "We are gonna do great out there and DESERVE those shirts!" Then, he proceeded to step into the bus all sorts of hype, taking a random seat. The bus was almost completely empty, allowing people to choose their favourite spots with ease!

People came by like conveyer-belt sushi. First was Emi, of course. Complaining about the earliness of the day. Saito wanted to say something; to smugly suggest too much beauty sleep had the opposite effect. But no. He made a soft, scoff noise, an acknowledgement of the funny things said, but more or less stayed silent. She wore surprisingly appropriate clothes, but her backpack was menial. He figured she'd forget some things, but at least she didn't look like she'd freeze to death. Then came a stranger. Saito thought he knew most of the people joining them - at least by name - but it seemed Kirk had invited someone of his own accord. They had bright red hair and a generally underwhelming demeanour. Nervous. Saito gave them an idle wave and heard Kirk say that they were 4 of the 6 people expected to show up.
The next person made Saito stand from his squat, addressing him directly. Shorter girl. Black hair. Athletic look about her. He raised an eyebrow, smiling as she explained who she was. "Good to mee'cha." was his response, chuckling at her little comment about being toasty. He directed her over to Kirk and flicked his sunglasses down. The sun was rising. Finally was Rimma. As expected of a foreigner, she introduced her arrival with some kind of greeting in some kind of language. Saito replied with his own wave, watching her approach him. She was definitely going to be the warmest going up that mountain. "Good to meet you too, Rimma-chan." He dodged out of any conversation beyond that, sticking to his own little corner of the bus stop while Kirk spoke to everyone about the plan for the day. Saito listened in for any details he might've missed, but he'd gotten a good grip of them a while back. Though he did mention something about earning free t-shirts if they made it to the onsen. That's good. Some reward at the end should keep spirits up. This was gonna be tough though... Were the others prepared for this?
Regardless, the bus squealed to a halt in front of them and Kirk took the first step on. Saito filtered in second, giving a nod to the bus driver, passing them his fare and wandering across the aisle. The bus was deserted. Utterly empty. He brought his huge rucksack with him all the way down to the end of the bus, smirking to himself as he sank into the middle seat. The throne of the coach. He stretched out, letting his bag sit beside him. If anyone wanted to join him in the end seats, of course, he'd move along. It only made sense for the group to stay close to each other on the ride. Though, he didn't seem to be in the mood for conversation. Sunglasses still on, he stared up at the ceiling, feeling the engine roar to life as their journey to the mountain began. "Kirk, wanna give some safety tips to the newbies?" Saito called over the loud vehicle, mostly so he didn't have to do it. Throughout the bus journey, he exuded an aura of 'not-really-feeling-up-to-it-today-sorry', not really joining in with the conversations everyone was having amongst each other. Getting to know one another's feelings about the trip. Not that he'd ignore anyone. He'd smile and nod or grunt if asked something; giving thumbs up of approval and everything. Though... He seemed to pointedly ignore most of whatever Emi did. She could sit right next to him, stare at the side of his head and scream into his ear, but he just... didn't seem to notice her? Hm. What an interesting morning.

The ladies arrived, one by one. Oddly enough, they all looked much more prepared than she was. Better-fitting clothes, bigger, heavier backpacks… Had she missed the meme, or were all of UA’s students experienced hikers? Well… Most of them. At least she could take solace in knowing she was only the second-worst dressed student with Rimma well-rounded approach.
And so the gang had assembled. Mostly girls, she noticed – if Kirk hadn’t been, well, Kirk, she would have thought the boys were up to something. She wasn’t entirely convinced that he had the capacity to scheme, so they were safe. Probably. At least, that’s what she’d thought until he explained the plan. “Wait, wait…. I thought you said we were taking a bus to the top of the mountain.” Had she misunderstood or been tricked? A quick double check of everybody’s oversized backpacks suggested the former. “…I guess not.” As if she hadn’t looked unenthusiastic before. “Okay. Fine.” She took a deep breath in, straightened her body and forced a smile on! Smiling was the first step to feeling better, after all… Or at least, she told herself that when she was trying to keep her spirits up. It almost never worked, but she was in good company, so maybe that would do the trick.
“Too late to back out now anyway! I’m already out of the house, with a squad of good people. And a t-shirt, maybe.” Yeah, that would make up for trekking up a mountain in the freezing cold. It wasn’t like she had more than enough shirts already. The little voice in her head that told her she’d made a mistake grew a little louder. The voice that reminded her of her loneliness followed suit, and it tended to drown out most else.
The team occupied the bus, and of all the spaces, Emi chose to saddle up next to Saito. “I hope it’ll be fun, though. I don’t remember the last time I went walking anywhere with friends.” Mostly because it had been close to a decade since then. The life of a recluse didn’t lend itself to outdoor adventures or companions to have them with. “I bet the boys do this stuff all the time, though. …And the girls too, actually. You all look like you know what you’re doing. More or less.”
Idle conversation carried them as the bus did. Emi, as dense as she was in all things emotional, slowly realised that she’d barely heard a crack out of her friend. He looked ready to leave before they’d even arrived – a far cry from the boy that had insisted she join. His antisocial behaviour earned him a nudge from Emi. “Hey.” She leaned into his personal space, lowering her voice enough that the bus’s engine could mask her words. “You’re not being yourself right now. Something on your mind?” Subtlety was not her strong suit. Neither was empathy, or kindness or tact, but damnit, the amount of people that could call her a friend were on one hand, and she was going to do her best to keep them all happy. If he wanted to talk, she was there to listen, but if not, she settled for sitting by him, giving him the occasional ever-so-slightly concerned glance while she conversed.

As everyone arrived, Feng started to calm down as she saw more familiar faces and started getting more excited to start the hike. It seems like everyone was fully prepared and ready for this, she hopes that she can keep up with everyone. Though the anxiety would come back for a short few when she didn’t make a proper introduction, but she will find the chance to do so when we get to the start of the hike. Everyone here seemed to know each other, which is to be expected since Kirk seems to give off that aura. Though his friend next to him gives off a different aura, though they do play off each other like some sort of comedy duo. She makes a mental note to use the school group chat more often in the future.
She heard the run down of the plan of the hike from Kirk and listened intently as she made a few mental notes. The plan seemed quite simple and to the point and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to boost her stamina while in the cold. Though some people here don’t like the prospect but its to be expected, she will do all she can to help them out. “I wonder what kind of food they have up at the top of the mountain”, she muttered to herself as her thoughts now fill with all kinds of food that can be enjoyed in the cold. The thought hit her that she can use this to keep other motivated and seemed like a great conversation starter.
“You have any guesses on what kind of food they have at the top of the mountain?”, she curiously asked Arisu and Rimma. Though she could have worded her quest better and hadn’t thought that one wouldn’t serve food at a bath house and then the sudden thought is now in the back of her head. She enjoyed fighting more, less thoughts about daily life and more the single goal of winning against an opponent. Eventually she will learn better social skills, but for now she has her mind focused on the hike.
The cold will be the opponent here and will help in the future if she ever meets Rimma as an opponent in another training exercise or anyone else with a freezing quirk. Biggest payoff here will be the view from the mountain if the building has one, it would make fr a good picture for the friends and family back home. Feng has never went to a bathhouse before, the thought of it never appealed to her but that was because she was by herself. Hopefully this trip will change that view of it.
As everyone boarded the bus, she took the middle seats on the bus and sat near a window. Taking time to relax and listen to some music, she had one earbud out so can listen to any conversations going around and she will answer if she is called on. Somewhat nervous but she is excited for the day ahead of her.

--- arisu --- - - -
Arisu flashed a smile as Rimma arrived soon afterwards- and then rapidly hid her urge to snicker at the sheer marshmallow mass of the small girl in her bundled layers. Saito flashed a smile her way, and got one in return, even if he wasn't very talkative right now. Kirk didn't reveal much ahead of time, but soon shared the day's plan! Ride the bus, hike a mountain, hit a bathhouse, get a tee-shirt! And then climb back down, apparently, though Kirk left that part out. Arisu heaved a tiny sigh- she wasn't entirely sure everyone was gonna be up to all this!!
Arisu parked herself in the rear seat as well, but across the aisle and against the window, maximizing her chances to see what they were around and passing. None of the exchange between Emi and Saito came across much, and she didn't intrude, focusing on their surroundings! It'd be important to be able to find their way back if something went wrong, after all.
"Food? Um... bathhouses sometimes have like, coffee milk and biscuits, but that's about it. There's not really like... full blown food spread. It's not a restaurant. But there should be a few snacks, and I can share a little of the trail mix and energy bars I packed if you get peckish, Feng." She shared a smile with the girl, glancing to Rimma to make sure she was doing alright, too, but for the most part, she wanted to track their progress and prepare for the walk ahead.
