That one Shonen Experience (Rick)

Rick entered the scene by cutting a corner as he was heading to one of his favorite spots to eat near campus. Normally he stayed on campus for the most part as the hustle and bustle of Tokyo made the small town boy a bit fidgety at times, but today he worked up the confidence and the craving for this one places fried dumplings that were actually to die for, and just with that said Rick might actually die for them.

As he made the corner he was met with the noise of crashing and a flash of red as the hero Mia Kearney flashed past him in a violent series of blows as her body connected with concrete. Flinching backwards and letting out a yelp the nervous, but observant boy was quick to pick up what was going on. She was fighting and judging by that last blow she wasn't winning. Fear gripped him as his head shot towards the direction she came flying from, his gaze finally settled on the behemoth who was throwing 'Red Horn' around like a rag doll. With a tightness in his throat he really was unsure what to do here. In the first place he wasn't much of a fighter and he was forbidden for using his quirk in public. However.. he knew this hero.

Considering they were both Americans, Red Horn was somewhat well known in his hometown. Her take no shit attitude appealed to many of the people who lived in his little small town and many of the kids with strength quirks always tried their best to imitate her. Rick, while being the complete opposite from Mia personality wise, still looked up to her in a way. In a way she was everything the boy wished he could be, confident, strong, and ready to stand up for what he believed in, but there was a difference between the two. As she was fighting tooth and nail against a villain that likely outmatched her, he hesitated. He sat here and watched waiting for either his legs or brain to force him to run. Nonetheless, something in him made him stay. A burning passion in his chest, here was a fellow American hero, one he looked up to even, facing an enemy she might not have a chance against. How could he be a man if he did nothing?

Without thinking Rick dashed into the middle of the street, with the distance between the two he guessed he had, maybe, ten seconds before the villain could close the distance. It'd be cutting it close but with the tight right they forced themselves into his smokescreen might just give Mia the cover she needed to find an opening. As he brought his hands together he began to activate his quirk. As the heat focused in his hands, he slowed the release of the material substance which at high enough temperature would turn to a magma-like material capable of burning through stone. Though that wasn't his goal here, with a little bit of focus and sometime he was able to forgo the magma like elements of his quirk and stop right at the smoking point, resulting in a ash like smokescreen that provided him and his allies with cover. It was a bold move all things considered, but he was not sure what he was doing. Just that he had to do something.

He knew a direct attack of his wouldn't even make this villain flinch, but maybe with a little bit of support Mia could get in close and hit him with a hard hitter. As the smoke began to produce at his hands he shouted back to the bruiser of the hero behind him, "G-G-get ready!" he cringed a bit at his delivery realizing that even when he was doing something cool, there was no way he would look cool doing it. Just as the smoke began to form into something of a smokescreen he furrowed his brows and shouted out "Wide Out Smokescreen!" As the blast of the ash like smokescreen began to fill into the street he quickly turned on a heel and ran to gain some distance between him and the villain while also getting himself closer to his ally in all this.

As he scrambled down the street, he nearly tripped but caught himself with his hands and continued sprinting down until he took cover behind a car on the street. Had the smokescreen hit the villain, the worst ailments he would face is a light cough and watery eyes but the attack wasn't particularly offensive. The dark soot was difficult to see past which with proper follow up could result in quite the sneak attack. His attention now onto Mia, the weight of the situation finally dawned on him. He not only used his quirk in public but he actually got into combat with a villain. While Mia was most likely giving the villain hell, Rick was over here, hiding behind a car freaking out that he might get expelled from school, or worse thrown in prison!
