A somewhat tall hooded figure sneaked in the maid cafe as the lights went off. It wasn’t actually hooded at all, but the phrase sounded cooler so the author kept it in. In fact, it was the opposite of hooded, with obnoxious blonde porcupine hair sitting on top of its cranium. The figure was carrying what looked like a large guitar case but was actually a large bass case. It was wearing its usual leather jacket with a black Rock N' Roll Cafe -- his kind of cafe -- underneath, with a washed-out jeans and brown boots. Undercover of the darkness, he found a chair in a corner, out of sight and hopefully out of mind. Not that it wasn’t much needed, as everyone’s eyes were locked on the black-haired perfect waifu who was about to sing.
Darren was a bit surprised by the satisfying amount of electric guitars he was hearing in the song's intro, less surprised when Rin started to sing. It was about what he expected of it when he heard about the 1-A class president, ‘amically’ nicknamed ‘the evil overlord’ by the blondie, was gonna sing in a maid cafe.
Catering to the maid cafe crowd, the song played like a textbook anime opening. It was easy listening and there was no crunch, squeal or scat involved. The delinquent scoffed at the absence of any physical band on-stage. Damn idols. He hated the idea that only the singers should be the only one getting the spotlight and had already hastily judged the girl as an idol wannabe.
To her credit, she really gave Darren no idea how terrified she was of singing in front of a crowd with her performance. She hit the notes. She sustained them over a wide range. It was textbook singing, but it was done right, and with heart too as the crowd got to her. That much he couldn’t criticize her upon, and he wouldn’t. He even gave the slightest of nods of approval. The slightest. At least she wasn’t one of those lazy singers, born with a great voice and thinking themselves above the idea of practice. Too bad she put all that practice into becoming an idol. A damn shame, he thought.
Everything else he could, however, he would pick on, as suited a wild Darren. He was actually, physically counting on his fingers what he could find to criticize, no matter how shaky the foundation for his criticism. First, it was a faithful rendering without ad-libs. It lacked personality. Second, she was almost immobile in front of her microphone stand. It lacked energy. Third, and he was starting to really stretch it with what could be criticized, she was too ‘performing’ to his taste. She wasn’t giving something of herself to the audience. It lacked soul. Mmh-hmm, he thought. He nodded to himself. He was right. Of course he was right. Right?
Not that he would ever admit it in a million years, but Darren’s throat tied up a little. He was gonna have to go after that, and his own singing was, well… He still believed with all his little rocker’s heart that he was more soulful, as subjective as soul was, but his singing certainly wasn’t such a easy-listening, crowd-pleasing kind of singing. And the girl had range and sustain over him. By a large margin too.
He shook his head. Damn it, don’t you ever fucking doubt the power of rock n’ roll, he thought, pep-talking himself. Sitting on his chair, slouched forward with his bass case between his legs, his chin resting on top, he watched the next performer get up on stage. He smiled and whistled loudly. It was his boi and fellow detective Ryuusei. Hopefully, he would see the thumb up of encouragement the blondie gave him from the back of the room.
However, before his invisible boi could play a single note, another blondie with significantly less Y chromosomes than the delinquent blondie stole the stage. She said she wasn’t here to sing or play anything. “Boooooo,” immediately answered Darren. It was a confession. A god damn confession, and a cheesy one at that.
The psychopath’s eyes rolled all the way to the back of his head and round the other way -- somehow --, feeling the full force of the alienation. Lately, he had not felt it so often, what with the cool new people in his class, but it was coming back to smack him on the back of the head. He knew these things were crowd pleasers. He never got why. He never got the appeal of romantic comedies and daytime dramas. Why should he care about someone ele’s love life?
He sighed. Sometimes, it seemed like his life was a long, unbroken feeling of not belonging wherever he was. He reasoned that he was bound to feel that way when sitting in a maid café and chased the thought away with a kick in the rear and locked the door behind him. It had never really worked to keep it out, but at least it kept the alienation at bay for a while.
And then, there was a kiss. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back, the camel here being Darren and the straw being the sickening amounts of sugar being poured on stage right now -- metaphorically, of course, but it felt very real to Darren.
“BOOOH!” he said, more loudly this time, ditching the idea of discretion out the metaphorical window, and he joined gesture with words when he threw the first thing his hand found on stage. It was a coaster. It was too light to get up to any sort of dangerous speeds, and Darren wasn’t stupid enough to use his quirk in a maid café, but to his happy surprise, the cardboard disc drew a perfect arc in the air with the side of Jasmine’s head as its predicted landing point. “Fuck off with yo lovey-dovey bullshit! Let my boy Ryuusei play!”
He then slouched back into his chair, holding his case upright still with his legs and crossed his arms to look at his ticket and his watch in a smooth motion. According to the ticket, the played right after Ryuusei. According to the watch, Levi and Hayley were late. He pulled out his phone and sent one of his flowery texts.
Where the fuck are yall? he said on their private chat.

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings It was just him and the piano.
It felt right blocking the entire world from that stage. No audience, no presentator, nothing, no one. Just Ryuusei and the musical instrument. It had always been like this. It was his only friend when Yaso got into a coma; his only listener when he couldn't even talk to Minato and Hiroko; the only support when he was constantly harassed in school; and, more recently, his partner while getting in love with Rin. Yes, the piano was there since the beginning... it was only fitting that it was also there at the end.
He got a nod from the one who was coordinating the whole event. It was time to start. It felt... right. No fear, no hesiation. Just like the fight with Jas... it seemed Ryuu had discovered he had nerves of steel and veins made of ice. He knew exactly what he was going to play: the song he wrote for Rin birthday, the one he gave the girl has a present: "Rin's Song".
The lights haven't been turned off, he thought. His eyes were closed, but he could sense that there was no change in terms of light. Maybe some slight delay nothing to worry about.
On his head, the image of Rin smiling, her thumbs up and telling Ryuu that she would be listening. He smiled, a soft one - a smile of someone picturing something - in this case, someone - dear to his heart. He must've pressed only about five or six keys of the piano when...
Uh?
He open his eyes and stopped playing when he sensed a hand on his should. There was a mixture of toughness and sensibility on that touch. Looking over, he saw Jasmine shaking her head before, quickly, hitting the center stage and grabbing the microphone.
Following the blonde with his eyes, he noticed... Rin was also there, with Jasmine's arm wrapped around her. What was happening? In confusion - and also fear of what was taking place at that cafe - Ryuu just stayed on his seat, watching and listening to the whole speech from the background.
He knew it. A few nights ago, when Ryuusei admited to Rinkusu that he loved her, Rin told her everything: how she was torned and how Jasmine also loved her. But this, seeing it happen right in front of him, with everyone watching it, it... it left Ryuu's heart more broken than it had ever been.
When he saw bot hgirls kiss he felt... nothing. During the speech all the ice walls that ha melted from the insides of his heart began rising again as fast as they could. They wrapped his heart, his soul, his everything. Ryuu couldn't be hurt again, his brain wouldn't allow it. In his head, a voice he never heard started whispering.
The world is against you. Accept it, Ry-uu-se-i.
Their lips separated. Looking down, he saw tears hitting the white piano keys.
What?
Looking at the polished piano, he saw his reflection crying. Tears running down his face against his own will. His heart fighting against his brain, wanting to shw emotion, wanting to scream - wanting to, once again, be free from those giant ice walls.
Why... why am I crying?
He wiped his tears away as quick as he could. While in love with Rin, he allowed for his heart to take the place of his brain. It was a mistake. He would always love her, he would always want to see her happy, but from now on... from now on his heart would be buried deep, not allowing a single soul to retrieve from the prison constructed by Ryuu's brain.
It was like all those times in his previous school, everyone looking at him while he was being humiliated. This time it happened on a literal stage. Ironic. He wouldn't run though. Having zoned out the appearence of Elise, he got back to reality from the screaming of Darren.
“Fuck off with yo lovey-dovey bullshit! Let my boy Ryuusei play!”
Still sitting in front of the piano, Ryuu placed his hands atop of the keys, waiting for the stage to become empty in order to play.
It really was just him and the piano.
After all of that, he smiled. It was the saddest smile he had ever put on.

Once Elise explained as much of the situation as she could, he grabbed her hand and navigated her through the crowd, when they approached the stage though, the sight shocked Akio. A blonde girl, who Akio could only assume was the one who made Elise cry, was kissing Rin, right on the stage, in front of everybody, Akio turned to look at Elise "Hey, I'm so sor-" he began, but stopped when he saw the girls face This poor girl, first this blonde bimbo bitch made her cry, and then she confesses to and kisses the one Elise loves Akio thought to himself, he couldn't take it, he could feel his rage building, he felt Elise squeeze his hand as if she was asking for help, and Akio was glad to provide that help. He looked at Elise "Let me handle this, you just stay here, or if you don't want to be here for this, that's fine, wait at the back for me, I'll come get you and make sure you get back home safe," Akio said as he flashed another gentle smile before he turned to face the stage again. He clenched his fists in anger, every part of him was seething "Well, well, you really are a bitch blondie," he said, breaking up their lovey dovey moment "Making her cry once wasn't enough was it? You just HAVE to parade yourself around, attention seeker much?" Akio said as he jumped up on the stage and got in the blondes face "You made her cry, showed no remorse and then came up here, in front of everyone and kissed her," he pointed to Rin at that last part "The ONE person who she felt didn't abandon her, do you enjoy crushing peoples spirits? Got some unresolved trauma you can't deal with, so you go around hurting others to make up for it? That's usually your type, too scared to deal with their own fucking problems, you go around inflicting pain on others to make yourself feel better, well, I REALLY hope you feel better about yourself, because you've practically broken another person to attain your happiness" Akio said as he got into the face of the blonde, he was seething, every inch of him wanted to just grab her and beat the shit out of her, but he restrained himself, instead he just turned to Rin "I'm sure you must be confused, so let me lay the situation out for you, you know your friend I was comforting before? You know how she was crying? It was THIS bitch that did it," he said pointing to the blonde "I just thought you should know that, after your passionate little scene up here, that the one you potentially were going to enter into a relationship with, is someone who seems to enjoy making people cry, and this person happened to be a friend of yours, is that REALLY someone you want to be with? Someone who takes her own insecurities out on others? I've seen you around school, I know you're better than that," Akio said, trying to reason with Rin "But, that decision isn't mine to make, I've done my part, I hope you guys have fun together," Akio said sarcastically and jumped off the stage

Aeris Leon Teacher 1-A || Fantasy || Danse de Fee I'm not here for your Entertainment The music, The lights, the atmosphere. Ahh what a night to be alive and taking in a little stop at the Maid Cafe. Some sort of music night tonight. The events had already been in full swing as she was hesitantly seated. The silver haired Goddess of the Flutter, sat at a table for one in the very back. She didn't need the menu, just ordering a coffee, black, chef's bean of choice. She was wearing a pair of simple denim pants and a white t-shirt. Her goal was to remain inconspicuous as possible. But she saw a great deal of students in here. Mademoiselles Kurama and Noir were in an embrace. Fräulein von Eisenberg was confessing to poor little Rin. Class 1-C's Hirotaka was there as well as Daimon. Monsouir Igarashi was on the piano. Sean's presence was the most surprising, but it did make her smile a little to see the tough boy already back on his feet.
As her coffee was delivered, she smiled to the maid that asked if there would be anythign else. "Non. I beleive the little eroi here are having a bit of an emotional fest. They may need a little quiet." To that end she placed her finger on her lips and motioned to the seat next to her, inviting the maid to sit and watch. Too bad they didn't have popcorn.

Music Night; Everyone's invited!

words: 393. tag: @username. notes: Sean's as oblivious as ever

As soon as Rin had finished her performance and stepped down from the stage, Sean wanted to personally congratulate her on a job very well done. As soon as Rin was close to him, Sean began clapping once more. "Bravo! That was just awesome, Rin!" She then offered to give him a free drink once she was finished talking to the others. "That's nice of you. Thanks!" He then watched her go talk with the others. Sean decided that one day, he should do something nice for Rin to return her kindness.
He then turned his attention to the stage. It seemed that Ryuusei would be performing next. Sean looked forward to seeing him play on the piano. Ryuusei was probably very good. However, he was then interrupted by a blonde girl. Sean recognized her as Jasmine, one of his fellow classmates. Bringing Rin with her to the stage, Sean watched as she professed her love to Rin. The two girls then kissed. Aww, that was so sweet! Sean felt a bit sad, wishing that he had someone to love like that as well. However, that small bit of sadness was washed away by the happiness he felt from seeing the two kiss. He was happy for the two of them.
However, it seemed that someone else thought differently. Sean heard booing from someone. That same person then told Jasmine to fuck off with the lovey-dovey bullshit and let Ryuusei play. On one hand, Sean was a bit annoyed at the guy for interrupting their romantic moment. On the other hand, he felt that the guy had a point. As sweet as it was to declare her love for Rin, there were other places she could have done that in, and Jasmine shouldn't have interrupted Ryuusei like that. Sean decided to not get involved with any of that. It wasn't his business. He just wanted to get back to listening to sweet music.
His eyes fell on Ryuusei, eager to see him play. However, it seemed as though that for a brief moment, Ryuusei looked upset. Was something bothering him? He then smiled. Maybe he was okay after all? Sean couldn't really tell from here. What he did know was that Ryuusei would play just fine, and Sean would be ready to give him a huge round of applause when he was finished.

Hayley was late. She had known that even before Darren’s text barged into her phone demanding to know her whereabouts. She made an annoyed ‘tch’ sound and stuffed her phone back into the pocket of the shorts she had on under her stupid pink minidress. It was not her fault she had forgotten where she had put the equally stupid pink wig that adorned her head.
Her guitar bumped against her back in its case as she weaved through the streets, ignorant of the odd looks drawn by a teenage girl running around in a frilly pink minidress and obvious cheap wig at this time of night. Little did any of them know, underneath this minidress she wore a t-shirt of the metal band Splinterfist, featuring a crude drawing of a man being punched in the face, snot flying from his nose and bloody teeth from his mouth in all its obnoxious glory. Soon, she thought to herself. Soon…
Finally, she turned the right corner and there it was: the esteemed Honey Honey maid café. She stopped and grimaced. Ugh. Her skin crawled at the thought of going in. She was definitely going to need a shower after. Possibly five.
“The shit you get me into, Darren,” she grumbled to herself.
It was all in the name of rock ‘n’ roll though, right? She took a deep breath to brace herself and entered. She did not glance around much; not even at the stage. Maid cafes, in her not very humble opinion, were weird, confusing and cringey places she wanted as little to do with as possible. She would likely not even be there if it had not meant finally getting to play in a band – that, and there were some recent events she really needed to forget.
Thankfully she spotted Darren’s distinctive crazy-ass blonde hair almost as soon as she entered. She made her way over to him with her hand raised. “Yo yo yo – ” Wait, shit, she was supposed to be in-character. Supposedly she was some sugary sweet wannabe idol pop princess, or something. She had not exactly been given super in-depth guidelines. Her hand dropped. “I mean…” She raised her voice several pitches. “How good it is to see you, my dear friend!”

Post by Rin Kurama on Aug 6, 2018 18:04:35 GMT -4
WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Elise had stopped. Rin lowered her shoulders, sighing softly. A wave of relief washed over her. Whatever had happened, it couldn't have been too bad. Even if the girl's voice sounded troubled, she was willing to communicate, work out whatever had upset her. There was still a chance to make her evening a blast, just like Rin's had been. So, in true Rin fashion, the contagious smile was sent in Elise's direction. Before Rin could really do much more than that though, Jasmine had unveiled her plans. It had come almost out of nowhere, a response to what had been an almost joking question. Energetically, Jasmine had grabbed a hold of the raven haired female, dragging her along for the ride, exclaiming how she wanted to tell everyone exactly how proud she was. Rin, attempting feebly to resist, was attempting to snap Jasmine out of whichever craze had gotten into her. "Jasmine-chan, Ryuusei's performing, we can't just.." Yet, there was no stopping the blonde this time. It almost felt like an idea had gotten stuck in the blonde's head, and if she didn't immediately act on it, it would be forever lost. An alpha lionness had made a decision, so the events unfolded, unravelled and expanded in the wake of Jasmine's decisions and actions. Rin, helplessly flailing, was dragged all the way over to Ryuusei, as he was sitting by the piano. Only the first few keys had been pressed. Rin wanted to say that she recognized them from somewhere, but she hadn't that much expertise when it came to instruments. Shellshocked, as if he had been caught on the frontlines in a war, Rin gave him an apologetic expression. Giving him a shrugging gesture, the message from the girl was clear. I'm sorry Ryu-kun, I really have no idea what is currently going on. Forgive me. Immediately after having pacified Ryuusei's little performance, Jasmine dragged the raven over to the microphone that Rin had left in place mere moments ago. The height of Rin's happiness. For a moment, the world had vanished. Warm, comfortable feelings washed over her. A sense of belonging, of being loved, of being wanted. A blush flushed through her system, as the sapphire blue eyes looked into Jasmine's crimson. The moment was perfect. This evening was perfect... but then everything came apart. An interesting question, in all honesty. Could a person be killed, yet still have a pulse. Could a person be killed, yet still be breathing. Could a person be destroyed, yet continue existing? Elise's words were like sharpened daggers, cutting into Rin's core. Those sorrowful, pained words, were the exact same that Jasmine had spoken, when Rin had first been invited on a date by Ryuusei. Those same, emotionally scaring words, that had managed to immobilize Rin completely. The warmth dissipated, the joy immediately gone. The spark in Rin's eyes from the performance, mattened. Rather than sapphire, Rin's eyes looked like blue glass. Something within her had shattered into a thousand pieces. Reaching an arm out towards the crowd, Rin called; "Elise-chan, I would never--" Yet, her voice was overpowered by a loud boo! Rin wasn't sure why, but Jasmine's hold on her had broken. The raven haired female could've sworn she heard a soft grunt of pain, but it didn't register. "Elise-chan, I'm sorry! P-please d--" Once again, Rin was interrupted. This time, the boy that had been consoling Elise moments prior, was shouting insults from front of the stage. Most of his words drifted Rin by, as she tried to keep her eyes on the friend that was rapidly descending into darkness...You know how she was crying? It was THIS bitch that did it.Huh?.. Jasmine had been the one to make Elise cry?.. Sure, they had been standing together, but Jasmine was sweet and kind. Surely, in only a few minutes, there couldn't have been... Rin shook her head, her fingers curling into small fists. It hurt, it hurt so horribly. You're better than that! Akio was voicing it loud and clear. If this is how the evening ended, it would all be Rin's fault. My fault. It's always my fault. All of this, it's all because of me.. I brought them all here! Everything had been flipped on it's head. While Rin had been singing, the crowd had been pleased, joyous. There had been a smile on Elise's lips; Rin could see it from the stage. There had been a prideful you've got this aura emanating from Jasmine. Ryuusei, as he had passed onto stage close by Rin, had been prepared to let go of more of his insecurities. Everything had been perfect!!Now, the crowd was booing. The Honey Honey staff was waving at Rin panicked, trying to move the event along before it ended in a huge fiasco. Elise-chan was on an edge, tears about to spring forth in her eyes. Jasmine was being shouted at, boo'd at, hated. Looking over her shoulder at Ryuusei, the world had almost gone into slowmotion. Sitting there, by the piano, his focus was on his fingers, his fingers were on the keys. Isolated from the world Rin had tried to open up to him. Softly, Rin called out to him, begging him not to shut that door. Not to close himself off again. Not after everything they had been through to get this far! "Ryu-kun-- Ryu...! N-no.. P-please?" Everything was falling apart. Rin lifted her hands to her mouth, steadying her breath, trying to hold in the tears. The girl's body was trembling, as she whispered two simple words into the microphone. Two words, that may have held more of Rin's soul than her entire earlier performance. Soft, clinging sadness. So beautiful, so clean, like a fresh breath of winter's air. "I'm sorry." Rin, unable to withstand the pressure from the crowd, from her emotions, from all the things that had gone wrong, fled. In high heels, the girl ran behind the curtains, heading directly for the stage's back exit. The high heels were discarded as soon as Rin had a chance to get them off. On barefeet, the girl ran away into the darkness, both hands covering her mouth to prevent a scream from escaping. Running off to nowhere, Rin could hardly breathe. If a person could be killed, yet still exist, that is what Rin felt in these moments.[Attempted Exit.]

What could Maxi ever say? He had been here to watch a show, he had been here to watch something good. The prospect of finally hearing Rin, which was frankly one of his best friends at U.A. sing at quite the nice café sounded perfect for him. Hell, he even skipped on his ice cream hour fiesta just to come here. What could possibly ever go wrong? Well, Jaz could go wrong, as it always is. He wasn't trying to hate her, but fuck was it hard.
She first started it badly by being noticeably mean to Elise, something he picked up quite quickly, after all: he didn't have a lot of friends, so the ones he had, he noticed incredibly quickly. Then, just to be the public bitch she could be, she confessed in front of Rin, which was already bad in of itself. Better than anyone, Jaz should know just how nervous in public Rin could be. While it started quite beautifully, even with the quiet Vice-President of 1-A making an appearance to actually play well, Rin clearly lost all composure after that. Even more with the guy that he had met previously with the whole drug fiasco speaking the truth.
Elise was crying and frightened, only holding to the guy he'd later come to know as Akio. Rin was completely crestfallen and ran away from the stage. Ryuusei was a broken mess who seemed to smile even in the worst of situations. His smile truly was pathetic, though it only inflamed his rage even further. A noticeable, murderously furious frown on his face wouldn't dare leave now, as he walked past Akio and, sneakily, created a bowl made out of ice, PACKED with rock-shaped ice balls.
Then, he focused his power, deciding that, for this, it was all worth it. His golden eyes darkened noticeably, a cold, visible wind picking up around him as he expelled air out of him. With sudden increased speed, he dashed at the surely confused Jaz, attempting to hit her with his strongest divekick to her face tha the could. "YOU DAFT, INBRED BITCH!" He roared out, livid out of his mind as he landed, wether he had hit her or not, the true face of hatred plastered on his face. "You can't help but RUIN EVERYTHING. You ruin my arms, my self confidence. You ruined Elise's joy, her confession and her day. You ruined Ryuusei's performance. YOU RUINED RIN'S DEBUT ON THE STAGE. You ruin EVERYTHING. Why. WHY DO YOU RUIN EVERYTHING!?" Most honest words had never been spoken from his furious lips. Right there and then, at that very moment, Maximillian learned to hate and resent. For the first time in his life, Maximillian chose to not forgive. "LEAVE US ALL AND NEVER SHOW YOURSELF AGAIN. Either that.. OR I'LL HAVE YOU HUNG, DRAWN AND QUARTERED LIKE AN ANIMAL!" Once he was done giving her the villain-sounding ultimatum, both of his hands gained the distinct glow of shone-on ice, clearly beggining to charge an attack should she choose to go against what every single soul in that café wished for.

Hello, my name is human And I came down from the stars You know the saying it was fun while it lasted? Yeah, those words unfortunately applied all too well to this situation. At first, everything was bliss. With her little Raven in her arms, Jaz announced to the world: she was mine. For the next few seconds afterwards, everything was clockwork. The kiss, the warmth, the palpable happiness that she could feel from her dark-haired roommate. It had made the lioness happy beyond measure to realize that, from the point of Rin's happiness, her decision was not wrong.
But then the turning point. The crack in the foundations. The girl she had told off before, coming back with a confession that hit far too close to home. A confession that she, herself, had uttered out of desperation, yet only so much worse. She hadn't even noticed something flying towards her, making her grunt and loosen her grip on Rin the second it hit her temple. Yet she remained immobile, listening to the words this other kid spoke. Honestly this was the most white knight shit she had ever heard but she decided to not say a single thing. It wasn't her job to correct blissful ignorance.
Realizing the situation all too well, realizing how this would affect Rin, Jaz froze. Everyone else was irrelevant. They were booing her, hating her, telling her words that would likely crush another person entirely. But Jaz? Frankly she didn't give two shits about any of it. What mattered most was Rin; the little Raven who undoubtedly just had the feathers of her wings cruelly plucked. She was just about to take flight when the chain of devastation and regret pinned her to the ground, making the little bird flightless.
On some level, it was her fault, wasn't it?
Those few words which had been completely irrelevant, snowballing into this big of a shit storm. It was a wonder how many people decided to shove their noses into things they knew jack shit about and only made everything several times worse.
I'm sorry, she heard, making her ball her fists and hang her head. Jaz grit her teeth as Rin ran out, a primal rage brewing within her chest. When Maxi came flying at her, all she did was sidestep, the male flying right by without causing more than a cold breeze. Turning on her heel, Jaz made to chase Rin; she didn't know how she could, but she needed to make things right. She didn't give a shit if she was hated. But Rin? No, she couldn't let her lose everything that she had built over the course of her stay in Yuuei.
Yet, when she kicked through the back door, Rin was no longer in sight. Eyes peering into the darkness, Jaz cursed under her breath; she was gone. There was no catching her when Rin wanted to be alone.
In that moment, the blonde lioness decided it was time to leave. But no, she wouldn't just sneak out the back door. Fuck that. Instead, she was going to march straight out of the main entrance. Why? Because if any of those assholes had a problem, they could try her.
On her way back, she found Rin's heels, dropped and forgotten. With a sadness behind her crimson orbs, she collected the items for her, letting them hang off of her left arm's index and middle fingers. Stepping back out on stage, Jaz's gaze went to Elise, a somewhat apologetic glint in her eyes - the girl hadn't deserved the verbal abuse Jaz had put her through, and were it any other situation the blonde would've probably apologized. But, at this particular point? It was hard for her not to hate her not for breaking her confession, but for what she had unknowingly done to Rin in the process. Then Maxi - to this kid, Jaz looked at him with a look of such indifference it was like she couldn't even see him; he could flex all he wanted, pretend to be as angry as he could, blame her for things that weren't even her fault all he liked, even throw empty threats her way like the pompous bastard that he was. At the end of the day, though, he was still a terrified, coddled little thing who was yet to break out of his shell. It was actually kind of cute. And not worth her time. Then Ryuusei. The one person she genuinely felt sorry for. She had told Rin, time and time again. There was no way everybody walks away from this happy. She was okay with being the one left behind, she was prepared for it, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try to win. And now? Now they had the conclusion of too many personalities and too many circumstances clashing against one another.
Then there was Akio... who even is this kid? she thought, a little confused. Well, surprisingly he had a lot to say considering he didn't know so much as half of the situation, much alike many of the people here. It was funny how things could spiral out of control from so much as a single wild card. Then there was Darren in the background; on some level, Jaz wished she and him could trade places. Being so blissfully stupid must've been a blessing. Wordlessly and with a blank expression, Jaz picked up the cardboard item that had been thrown at her and made her way down the stage, on some level thankful of how the crowd silently got out of her way. "Here, you dropped this." Jaz said, leaving the item at Darren's table before excusing herself out of the cafe.
"Bad night?" Somebody had asked her, glancing at the blonde who was now sitting atop a car in an alleyway, staring at the dark sky above with Rin's heels next to her.
She hummed, "You could say that. Mind a cig?"
"Sure."
The stranger had given her a drag and lit it for her before excusing herself. Inhaling the nicotine, she had all but forgotten what it tasted like. All she knew was that it did jack shit to calm her down, despite how much she hoped. Sighing, she took her phone out, staring at the screen.
Tomorrow was supposed to be a Sunday... she thought, hiding her face in between her arms.

I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ A promise was a promise, he reminded himself, even if the promise wasn’t verbal. That was the only reason he decided to show up at the re-purposed warehouse just across the street of Honey Honey. With a smaller crowd gathering around, Yoru waited outside on the street for signs of the show starting, before heading inside himself just in time to hear Rin’s singing. He lingered close to the door without an intent on walking further inside. The place was spacious, but even such a room was leaving him claustrophobic, and it helped if he was aware of the exit being only a few steps away behind him. Showing his hands into his pants pocket, he leaned his shoulder against the wall. His lower arms and hands were bandaged, with occasional aloe band-aids patched on his skin here and there where he burned himself too much for his natural resistance to work its wonders easily. Even the lower edge of his short sleeved hoodie was slightly scorched, but it almost looked like it was just styled that way. Yoru seemed like much of a little punk coming in to watch other perform, and luckily, not even the maids were concerned with him being there to offer some refreshments. He had a feeling he would have just sent an unintentional death glare to anyone attempting to talk to him. He didn’t have the best of weeks behind himself. Meeting phantoms from his past on multiple occasions and forms, Yoru was spending the last two days burning his flame out as much as possible for a reason only he could see the logic behind. He wasn’t exactly in the mood to socialize, but he had to get back on track or there was no way he could stay annoyed at Ryuu for preferring to play games indoor like a wallflower. Uncaring about who exactly was present during the night, he was staring at the stage. A raven haired little fledgling was the first one to perform. Rin’s singing was beautiful. Rhythm and voices were the exact things that could uplift Yoru’s mood, and the more upbeat song she was singing had become an anchor. At first, the room was filled with stunned silence, but as the seconds went on, he could almost feel people beating their feet to the music, bopping their head just slightly. Some of them even sung along silently, their mouth forming the words without a sound. Her performance was something he never imagined to see from her, especially considering how he had to literally growl at her to talk louder, because hell, he wouldn’t go out of his way to lean close to her whenever she said something. The performance was incredible, and it left Yoru with a certain kind of bliss and happiness for Rin’s success. That bliss seemed to be short lived though. One thing followed another, and by the time Yoru could catch up to what was happening, it all went to downfall. Ryuusei’s performance was interrupted, Jasmine was confessing to Rin and kissing her, people started crying and shouting, and it all just erupted into utter chaos. What. The Hell. His mind barely processed everything that was happening, but his eyes were jumping from one friend to another, and even his own emotions were so all around the place that he wasn’t even sure what he was supposed to be feeling. Yoru’s sight was drawn to Ryuu, because he saw something there that was vaguely familiar, and made even the fire-boy froze. That look. It reminded him too much of his own brother’s just before he disappeared from his sight for years, and something sparked in Yoru that forced his legs forward, right toward the stage, right to where his best friend was suffering from invisible demons whispering. It was a momentary panic, and he stood right at the stage, stepping up on it even before he realized it must be bad behavior. But who would care after all that had happened. Yoru didn’t. The only thing he saw was his best friend still sitting at the piano. “Hey.” It was quiet, slightly raspy, as if his vocal cords were burnt from the heat of his own flames. Don’t hide. You can run, but do not hide away.He had the usual scowl, the expression almost literally burned on his face during the years as a default, but after all the drama, after all the boo-ing and emotional high that was flowing around the whole room, who would have blamed that even he was uncomfortable under the pressure. It was ridiculous. The whole room, the whole teenage angst was ridiculous. Everyone was being ridiculous. But seeing his best friend’s emotions overflowing on that usually so stoic and calm face was just... shattering. But what could he say? He was the worst person possible to comfort anyone. The chance of him hurting others with his words was higher than actually calming them down. While it seemed like Ryuu was getting it all together, and was yet again ready to play the piece he chose for the occasion, Yoru’s instincts were telling him that wasn’t exactly the case. He was emotionally dumb, sure, but he wasn’t at all stupid. Who would be alright after all THAT? After standing at the edge of the stage for one short moment, he walked to the drums at the back casually, as if he was supposed to be right there. Probably no one cared about him in the commotion that the icicle Maxi was making, so he could rummage around for a few more moments still. Making sure that the drums were connected to the amplifiers, he picked up the drumsticks and HIT the instrument in a rhythmic but quickened pace, ending it all with a smash on the cymbal. BADUM-DUM-DU-DUM-TSCH! Hopefully it was loud enough to stun most people at least into relative silence. “The performances are still going. If you want to fight, take it outside!” Speaking without hesitation, clearly and loudly, Yoru wished it better calm the hormone-filled place down, or he would go crazy. Or burn, but neither sounded quite pleasant for him. He circled around the piano to get behind it, further from the audience. The bench Ryuu was sitting on had just enough room for Yoru to sit down, with his back toward the boy. He leaned back against his classmate’s shoulder for a second before pulling a leg up on the bench to put his chin on, and giving Ryuu room to move his arms. “Play. We’re all listening.” Swipe them all off their feet with your music.Don’t hide!words: 1107 ● So many people are present! ● MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

So much happened in such a short period of time... it was simply too much. The kiss that Jasmine and Rin shared, the one where Rin looked so happy left her with mixed feelings. A part of her was happy to see Rin so joyous, but another part for a painful jealousy, but above all fear: fear that Rin would be taken away. It only became worse when things escalated further.
Rin turned toward her, that sorrowful and concerned look in her face as she told her she would never... never what? The earlier sight of Rin's back resurfaced in her thoughts, of how she approached Jasmine instead of seeking her side, instead of comforting her. Perhaps it was for that reason her thoughts only wrapped further into a despairing spiral of negativity.
Rin would never love someone like her
Tears started to gather, even more, her hands shakingly reaching for her face, Rin tried to say something else, but at this point the booing had overpowered the girl's voice entirely. Akio had approached Jasmine, clearly angry at her behavior and even went to tell off Rin.
"W-Wai" She couldn't even call properly after Akio, trying to tell him that she didn't want this to happen, that she didn't want to ruin Rin's evening. She simply wanted to confess to Rin, but then why... she really thought Rin genuinely loved her, after seeing that tape... the feelings in her heart had been so strong to the point her heart had been controlling her thoughts and making her dance like a puppet, a waltz of emotions with Rin's confession that day being the puppeteer.
She still remembered it, how that day she had even watched that video repeatedly in the infirmary. Maxi had been at her side, laughing and teasing her while she felt so flustered and yet so happy. She really... she really loved Rin, and those words had made her so happy. so why... why would she be left behind?
A sudden angry shout came from nearby, her gaze drifting sideways in surprise to see the very same teenager who had seen that confession rush onto the stage. "Maxi?" She whispered in disbelief as he attacked Jasmine yet at that point she couldn't hold it in anymore, a desperate shout following. "Please don't!" Tearfully she looked as Rin uttered a final apologize and ran away.
Guilt overwhelmed her, her feet making her take a few steps forward when a dreadful thought resurfaced in her mind: It's because of you that this happened.
It was the same as that day in Germany, the day her father had nearly died to protect her. It was because she had shown her grief that he had attacked those brutes and was left in such a horrible state. And now it was repeating itself. Akio was upset and lashing out at Jasmine verbally, Maxi had gone bananas and was attacking the one who had caused her grief and Rin... Rin looked so sad.
She didn't deserve... to go after Rin.
It was all her fault because she allowed others to see her suffering she had inflicted pain upon one she held so dear to her. When Jasmine walked past her she would have seen that there was clearly something wrong with the girl. She couldn't even see Jasmine's apologetic glint or even Jasmine for that matter. It felt as if the blond lioness her features had faded away, just one among the crowd of silhouettes of her past, of those who rejected and pushed her aside, those who looked at her as if she was a disgusting thing to be kept at bay.
A frightened step backward was made as if she tried to escape from that sight but at this point? At this point, she had truly been broken. Feeling one of the cold rocks that Maxi had conjured roll against her feet the girl feebly scooped it up in her hand, it was cold... freezing even to the touch, a contrast to the burning pain she felt in her chest, the feeling of her heart being torn to shreds by the way this night had unfolded.
"It's all my fault... I should have never..."
Hugging the rock tightly the girl darted toward the doorway shortly after Jasmine had left, disappearing into the streets of Tokyo. Tears kept running down her cheeks as she tried to get away, as far away from that place as possible. This was all because of her. If she had never been at the music night then she wouldn't have had experienced this. If she had never... could she truly acknowledge that thought that was forming? If she had never loved Rin? She didn't know, the feelings she held for Rin were immense, so warm and comforting but right now they were hurting her immensely, like a knife that was digging its way around her heart.
Confusion, fear, sorrow, despair, so much negativity shrouded her mind at that point. She shouldn't have tried to approach Rin, then she wouldn't have had to deal with this, she might have had her happy confession from Jasmine and ended up happily. She shouldn't have fallen in love... shouldn't have come to the Music Night
In the end, her presence always inevitably made others suffer at some point. Feeling the coldness of the ice rock numbing the pain in her chest slightly she sobbed feebly. "You're wrong Sophie-sensei... maybe it was indeed better that I was never born..." a sudden bright flash of light came from the corner of her eyes, a sharp whistling sound following, but after that? Only time would tell what happened that night...

Music Night; Everyone's invited!
|
words: 401. tag: @username. notes: The first sentence of this post basically sums up this entire thread
|
What the hell just happened? One moment, everything seemed nice and fine, but then everything was suddenly thrown into chaos. The once cheering crowd was now booing, seemingly at Jasmine. Sean was confused as hell. What exactly happened? Sean looked away from the ensuing drama, not really interested in getting involved. As he made his way to get another cup of water, Sean noticed Rin running away. As oblivious as he usually was, even someone as dense as he could tell that she was obviously very upset. He wanted to go after her and try to cheer her up somehow, but he couldn't even begin to think of anything helpful to say. Even if he did know what to say, Rin moved way too quickly, and by the time Sean could have reacted, she was long gone. Not wanting to risk making things worse, Sean reluctantly stayed behind, hoping that one of Rin's close friends would help the poor girl feel better.
Sean wasn't sure what to do. The happy vibes surrounding the place has long since dissipated. Was there even any point in continuing to party? Sean drank the water, and then looked toward the stage. Poor Ryuusei. Sean looked forward to seeing his performance, but it was ruined now. However, maybe it wasn't over just yet. He saw someone enter the stage, hit the drums and cymbal, and get the crowd's attention. Hearing the guy tell the audience that the performance was still going on and to get out if they still wanted to fight put a small smile on Sean's face. That's right. No matter how bad things get, the show must go on.
Sean clapped loudly and raised his voice loud enough for everyone to hear him. "Yeah, that's right! We're all here to have fun! We should be listening to nice music, not fighting each other! Out with the fighting and in with the music!" If Sean knew how to play an instrument, he'd march up to the stage right now and join in. Since he didn't, all he could do was watch Ryuusei play if he was still in the mood to do so. Although Sean was once again in the mood to party and listen to the music, Rin was still in the back of his mind. He hoped that she was okay and that one of her friends was comforting her right now.

Post by Ryuusei Igarashi on Aug 8, 2018 20:17:54 GMT -4
I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings I didn't remeber how they felt...
At that moment, Ryuusei wasn't at the Honey Honey Maid Café any longer. He had removed himself from there and was in a place far, far away. In all directions there was just darkness. A complete void of everything, almost no senses allowed. In the middle of that desert of sorrow there was a boy and his piano - big and colored like a shadow, the musical instrument just didn't merge perfectely with the surroundings because of its white keys. Stripped naked, his fragile body exposed, the boy allowed his fingers to run throught the piano keys like it was his first time doing so. With each movement there was curiosity, wonder.
They're cold. They're so, so cold. And if I pressed them... - with one of his fingers, he softly started to press some keys - ... if I press them they become even colder.
Just him and the piano, like it always should've been. In a wasteland of feelings, Ryuu didn't need much. His eyes, his nose, his mouth, his ears - they were all luxuries he could dispose. He could be Quirkless and not special at all - hell, maybe that was who Ryuusei Igarashi already was - because he only needed his fingers. The feel, the rhythm, the pattern... not even the sound was needed. Just those things and the boy could tell - it was his soul that was being played and no one needed to listen. Maybe nobody wanted to. And who would blame them? If he had the courage to do it, Ryuu would also rather not hearing it aswell.
I were greedy. Yes... yes I was.
Love? Friends? A normal school life? Those were extras, things out of his reach. Wanting them was a sin and sinners only deserve hell. He knew this. He knew that the fate of each man is determined from the moment that they are born. That the wheel will keep turning and that, no matter which path it takes, the destination would always be the same. So why? Why did he try to refuse his fate? Why did he try to break the wheel? He had already accepted his ending destination a long time ago: loneliness, isolation, pain and fear. No matter the road he took, that was always going to be the outcome. Trying to avoid that was... foolish.
Embrace it. Yeah...
The white keys started to become dark. Then, the darkness got to Ryuu's fingers.
Do you need anyone? No...
The shadow started to, slowly, take up the whole of Ryuusei's body.
Do you want anyone? No...
His body was almost fully covered in that darkness, stopping only at the neck.
Do you have dreams?
He looked up. With his blank eyes, he could see the stars. So beautiful, so unreachable, untouchable... Even with his fingers he could never hope to grab them. Yes, that wasn't a dream - it was an impossibility. As he accepted that fact, the stars began disappearing, getting consumed by the void.
No... No, I don't. Good.
And so the darkness continued its own journey. From the neck it went up to Ryuu's face. He was almost fully covered, still looking up. Before the last piece of his face - his right eye - got drowned in that place, something happened...
“Hey.”
The sky burst into flames. They were bright, pure. They got rid of the darkness that covered the ceilings.
The stars... he could see them again, the stars that got new life from that fire.
Fearing such light, the shadow that covered his body started to draw back quickly. Ryuu's muscles relaxed as they stop being covered by that void. He could see himself again. He could see the piano again. Then...
"BADUM-DUM-DU-DUM-TSCH!"
With each noise, every piece of the voided began crumbling around him. The space was getting destroyed and, in its place, white light began emerging. From that light, one body emerged.
Yoru?
Yoruhi... what was he doing there? That place, he shouldn't be able to get inside that place. Not to mention destroying it. Looking at Ryuu, the boy's bestfriend just reached for him with his own hand. And, just like that, Ryuusei wanted to believe again.
The stars..., he repeated to himself.
He began stretching his arm, wanting to hold his friend's helping hand. It felt... right. As he went for it, that damned voice could still be heard. Ryuu, however, didn't pay it attention.
Every path leads to same place, you know this. Because of that, you can go for now... - Ryuu grabbed tight on Yoru's hand, not wanting to ever let go of it - See you soon, Ry-uu-sei-kun.
As he got pushed from that void by Yoru, Ryuusei Igarashi was able to see again. He was in the cafe, Rin wasn't there anymore, there were people in the audience that he knew: Darren, Sean. Near him, there was Yoruhi.
“Play. We’re all listening.”
Ryuusei smiled. A completely different one from before.
Thanks. There was no need to say anything more - Yoruhi would know everything that was behind that simple one word.
And so, Ryuusei began playing. Not the song he had planned, but another one he had composed, one that felt right for the moment. The keys were warm, just like a comforting fire.
When he finished, he slowly got up and made a small bow to the audience. He thought he had played the best that his skill allowed, but that was for the people listening to decide. Getting down from the stage alongside Yoru, Ryuusei asked him something.
So, want anything to drink? I'll pay.
He's cold tone returned, but that was good: Ryuusei was back.
Notes: Here is the song that Ryuusei played: Words: 955. Tags: Too many.

Post by Daimon Darren on Aug 8, 2018 21:59:53 GMT -4
Things had spiraled out of control remarkably quickly. Darren’s coaster-throwing antics had apparently spurred boyo and Maxi into action, and they each gave their own interpretation of the white knight speech. It seemed to be a tad more personal for Maxi, as he tried to hit Jaz to no avail whatsoever.
Darren shot him a killer glare, with his arms crossed for effect. He didn’t need to tell him not to do something as fucking stupid as using his quirk in public ever again. His carefully crafted killer glare had saved Darren a lot of saliva over the years.
Poor Rin was almost booed off-stage after the thunder of applause she had received earlier. There was a sort of beautiful irony to it, though it felt a little wrong to rejoice about the turn of the events when two girls bolted out the front door crying in quick succession.
His arms still crossed, the delinquent’s gaze was now focused onto nothing and he had a pensive look on his face. Darren was reflecting on things. It happened, sometimes. This is what happens to those people that force themselves to be so nice all the time, he thought. It’s like them black holes. Get so heavy everyone falls into them. He nodded, approving of his own reflections. It’s as Dad says. Be true to yourself.
He heard someone said “Yo yo yo” to his left. He pivoted his head. There was a pink-haired chick with a miniskirt who seemed completely out of place in this outfit. For a second, Darren was lost and a stupider-than-usual expression adorned his face.
Then the human bubblegum corrected herself, and when he heard that obviously forced sugary sweet tone of voice, the gears clicked, the machine turned, gasses were exhausted and thought was produced. He recognized Hayley and instantly broke into laughter over the table.
It lasted for a good twelve and half seconds. These twelve and half seconds probably would rank quite high among Hayley’s most embarrassing moments. At some point, Darren wasn’t even laughing anymore; he was wheezing.
“Aaaaaaaah… I’m sorry, it’s just, the pink, and the pink, and I didn’t recognize you, and then I did, and… Aaaaaaaaaah,” he said, the side of his head flat against the table.
Shortly after, a coaster was slammed in front of his face. He expected worse, but there was a sense of odd camaraderie between the two blondes. They clashed just as often as they agreed, and it seemed that no hard feelings were carried from the clashing moments to the agreeing moments and vice-versa. “Thanks, Blondie,” he said. “Gotta be more subtle with Japanese girls.”
He finally lifted the right side of his face from the table and invited Hayley to sit down. A maid came to take their order, calling him “Master” and apologizing for the trouble. It was absolutely creepy, because some part of his brain couldn’t help but feel a great sense of pleasure from hearing a cute girl in a maid outfit call her master, and another couldn’t help but feel an equally strong sense of disgust at anyone who would enjoy this sort of experience. He asked for a coke in the flattest voice anyone had ever heard Darren speak.
With the creepy maid gone and no more pink surprises, Darren could focus his attention on the stage again, and his attention refocused a second before Yoruhi started on a drum roll that shut up everyone in the room. He invited the ones who wanted to fight to take it outside. “Yeah! Let my boi Ryuusei play!” shouted Darren back.
And boy did his boi Ryuusei play. He had been looking shell-shocked ever since the Jaz meteor crashed on his world, smiling weakly. Yoruhi’s intervention helped him come back to Earth, and he liked to think his coaster-throwing played a small part.
Ryuusei’s touch was soft and precise. He pushed the keys just as much as he wanted them to, masterfully controlling the volume and intensity of his play, pouring all of his emotion into his fingers. The notes raised and fell. The music slowly filled the room. Ryuusei looked as he was in a trance.
Darren exercised his killer glare on the audience. So far, everyone was shutting the hell up, and he very much intended to keep it that way. Satisfied with himself, he plunged back into the music.
Watching a good pianist play was as much a part of the experience as the music was. Music, Darren often loudly declared in a passionate tone, is all about feeling it with your soul and letting it flow into your entire body. Only then would your music express your soul, declared the guy who had just picked up a bass a month ago. Pianists had this way of using their entire body to play that many guitarists lacked, and Ryuusei sure reminded everyone in the room of this.
It was an incredible performance precisely because it wasn’t a performance. Darren nodded as the boy hit the last few notes, going down the scale and closing the song. He broke into loud applause, stuck two fingers down his mouth to whistle, hollered “MY BOY!” and generally expressed his approval in his way. And with this, he got up and grabbed his case. He invited Hayley to do the same.
“I’ll call Levi and ask her where the fuck she is with lots of swear words. Worse comes to worse, maybe we can rope that fire boy into drumming for us. Meanwhile, you go on stage and temporize,” he said while simultaneously setting down his case and dialing the metal chick.
He looked at Hayley, realizing that it was quite the task he had given her. “You’re up for the job, ain’t you? Just play a solo or something without distortion, they’ll eat that shit right up.” He smiled a confident smile while raising the phone to his ear. Levi had better answer. “I trust you, Bee Gee. Give them sugary sweet heaven, and in a minute we’ll give them hell.”

She paced. She walked back and forth, back and forth. For once, she didn't wear her back coat. For once she had colors, or at least, she thought she was. Her make-up was almost absent, save for some eyeliner and black lipstick. She sat against the building, enjoying the shadow that was cast over her. Her hair was loose and her in face. Her light pastel pink shirt had a black strange lookin' smiley face with the word " NIRVANA" written above it. It wasn't from the store, it wasn't bought anywhere. It was drawn by hand, embroidered, stitched. By who? Well Levi had gotten it from- ". . . yes Kasey. . . Yes, I'm here. Yes, I'm safe. . . No, I'm with friends. . . . Yeah, I have the money you gave me for food. But I think a few thousand was a bit mu-. . . Yeah it's that blonde guy. . . No, we're hear to play music. . . What the fuck you mean you dropped it off? . . Yes, I read the book." She sighed, the phone call was long enough, and she could hear and feel it go off in her hand. She removed it from the side of her head to check the time. "I've been on the phone with her for almost an hour..." she thought to herself. "LOOK, I GOTTA GO... I LOVE YOU TOO SIS OKAY BYEEEE." Levi said before hanging up. Her torn jeans taking bits and pieces of the dirt of the alley with her. The sticks in her pocket showing a clean outline of them as she ran through the front. The white sneakers on her feet moved faster than the fake fabric arrows that were stitched on them. She didn't need to bring the set, somehow they were already there. She hadn't really played that often, or at all really. She knew guitars and violins and all kinds of things with strings. She had her sense of rhythm, and it seemed like it was all she needed. She needed to play to her own beat. Her beat. No one elses. She entered through the door and made her way to the pair that angrily awaited her. "No need to call, I'm right here." Levi would say to them, "What did I miss?" She would pull the drumsticks from her pocket, only to hold then between her and the two. "I was on the phone with my sis, she said she already dropped off a brand new drum set?" she said it curiously, even she didn't know how, or where it was. ~ 438 ~
